Chapter 11
Liz groaned as she fell out of the air and on to her bed. It was still dark out but the sun was starting to rise so Liz had no clue how long she was gone. She sighed and wiped her forehead. She had started sweating every since the guard had stuck a gun near her temple.
'Oh that was a joyous occasion.' Liz thought. In one day she managed to get caught by some freaky hippie mutants whose goal in life was to ban together all mutants and live in harmony, then have a dream she couldn't remember that had scared her so bad into teleporting to a maximum security facility where she almost got her head shot off but managed to escape only to end back at the hippie school.
"God this sucks.." Liz rubbed her temples. She needed coffee badly. Liz pulled her feet over the bed and got up. 'Might as well see if the stupid empty kitchen isn't so empty since the last time I checked.' She walked out of her room and into the hallway. 'Now where was the kitchen?'
Liz looked around and sighed. "Damn it..." Her poor coffee was probably all alone with no one to cherish.
'Maybe if you tried teleporting...'
"Nah, I'd have to get startled and I'm to tried to concentrate." Liz said then blinked. 'What the..Who said that?' Liz for sure hadn't said that or even thought that.
"Then who..." Suddenly it dawned on Liz. 'Don't you ever sleep!?' Liz asked Xavier in her head.
Xavier chuckled. 'Yes miss Parker, I do sleep.'
"Could have fooled me.." Liz mumbled.
Why don't you come to my office and we can discuss why your running around trying to find the kitchen at 5 in the morning. Xavier said.
Liz looked around again, thought for a moment then sighed. Where's your office, I forgot.
Go down the hall, then turn left then right. Xavier said.
Liz shook her head but gave in and followed Xavier's directions. Liz raised her fist and knocked twice.
"Come in." Xavier's voice said.
"Alright I'm here, what do you want?" Liz asked as she opened the door.
Xavier smiled then pointed at one of the chairs. "Please take a seat."
Liz hesitated but sat down. "Okay I'm sitting aren't I? Start talking."
"Liz I know you may be feeling confused about the memories that resurfaced earlier but Liz I know you teleported a little while ago." Xavier said.
Liz sighed. "And you want to know where I went?"
"Yes." Xavier said.
"Can we say invasion of privacy?" Liz muttered.
"Liz.."
"Alright alright..jeez bug much?" Liz asked annoyed. She paused looking at Xavier for a moment then began. "I don't know where I went okay? I don't remember alot..." Liz muttered.
"What do you mean?" Xavier asked.
"I can't remember what I was dreaming about." Liz said.
"Why do you think that is?" Xavier asked.
"I don't know. It must have been something though cause it managed to scare me into teleporting." Liz said.
"Ah yes, I wondered what had scared you into teleporting." Xavier said.
"Yeah about that, is there anyway I can learn how to teleport without scaring the crap out of myself?" Liz asked.
"Well sure. All you need to do is practice and concentrate." Xavier said.
"Concentrate? Like meditation?" Liz asked.
"Yes." Xavier said nodding.
"So I'm going to do the Buddhist crap like Kyle..." Liz muttered.
"I'm sorry?" Xavier asked.
"Nothing. Nevermind." Liz said shaking her head.
"Okay back to the subject at hand. Liz would you like me to read you mind?" Xavier asked.
"Again? Didn't you just do that yesterday?" Liz asked.
"Yes but I want to know just as much as you about your memories." Xavier said.
'Not that it's any of your business..' Liz sighed. "Fine but this is the last time you do it. Is that clear?" Liz asked.
"Crystal." Xavier said. He came over to her and placed his hands on each side of her head. "Ready?" He asked.
Liz nodded and closed her eyes as Xavier probed her mind.
*FLASHBACK*
- Liz beating the crap out of a Tess.
- Liz talking with Maria, Alex, Kyle, Max, Isabel, Michael, and Tess, explaining to them that she was a mutant.
- A group of men coming in and attacking her.
- Liz fighting, trying to get away, asking for her friends to help her but the group refusing.
- Then Liz getting shot in the back by darts, passing out.
*END OF FLASHBACK*
Liz opened her eyes. "So that's it..."
"Well?" Xavier asked.
Liz looked at him. "The dream was what had made me teleport."
"The guys that attacked scared you into teleporting." Xavier said.
"Right. See I sometimes have the same dream like you saw well minus the military guys attacking. I guess the change must have shocked me, ya know?" Liz said shrugging.
Xavier nodded. "Yes. Liz, if I may ask, where do you go when you teleported?"
"I don't know." Liz said frustrated. "I went to some weird military building. I don't know where it was and I don't even know if it had a name but..."
"But what?"Xavier asked.
"It kind of seemed familiar. I don't know it was like I've been there before..." Liz said.
"Liz I want to thank you for confiding in me." Xavier smiled.
"Eh? Yeah sure, no problem."
"Would you like to start working on concentrating on your powers. We could save the memories for another day." Xavier suggested.
"Right now?" Liz asked.
"Unless you prefer a later time, maybe when you aren't so tried?" Xavier suggested.
"Nah it's cool." Liz said. Her coffee would have to wait.
"Liz, if I may ask. How do you control your shapeshifting power?"
"Uhh I don't know it just comes naturaly I guess." Liz said.
"Alright..hmmm. Okay Liz I want you to clear you mind of everything." Xavier said.
Liz gave Xavier a look as if you've got to be kidding me. When Xavier gave her an equal look that said I'm not, she sighed and closed her eyes.
After a few moments Xavier spoke. "Now that you have cleared your mind, I want you to focus on your powers. Think of how you use them, focus on the energy."
Liz shook her head, eyes still closed but did what Xavier wanted.
"When you've focused on the energy I want you to connect to that power."
'Is this guy nuts!?' Liz asked her self. 'What the hell is he...wait. Did he just say connection? Connect...like the chezlovakians? Making a connection like the Pod Squad...like Max. Max. Bastard...stupid moronic alien king...'
Liz faced scrunched up as she clutched the chair. Liz thought of how that arrogant SOB had ruined everything. 'Max...' Liz's eyes popped opened as her nails had started to dig into the arm rest.
"I know how to control it." Liz said looking at Xavier.
Xavier frowned "What?!"
"I know how to control my power." Liz said.
"Liz, that's impossible. This is your first time you've worked on your shapeshifting ability, how could you control it already??" Xavier asked.
