This part adds kind of a twist to the story I think... enjoy!

Part 11

“So you two are back together then?”

“I guess.”

“Michael! You guess? What kind of answer is that?” Isabel asked him.

Michael rolled his eyes. “It’s a Michael answer. Why do you care anyway?”

“I don’t care. I’m just curious.” She answered.

“Whatever. Curious means you care.” He told her.

They were cleaning his apartment, waiting for everyone to get there. The week had gone by so slow and al the teens were glad it was Friday. No school for two days, and more story time. They had all taken off work so that there would be no interruptions. The humans were just as interested in the story now, as the aliens were. The two continued talking and cleaning when they heard loud talking outside.

“What?” They heard Maria yell into the phone.

“Liz! You have to come. You can’t leave me here all alone with them! … Yes I know I have Alex and Kyle… but I’ll kick her ass if she says anything… well then I’ll kick his ass… LIZZIE!!! MY BESTEST FRIEND! PLEASE!!! …. Fine… I’ll be over later tonight. Bye.” Maria turned off her cell phone and bounced into the apartment. “Hiya Spaceboy!” She kissed him on the cheek. “Hi Isabel.”

Isabel smiled at her friend. “Hi Maria.”

“What was that about?” Michael asked.

Maria looked confused. “What was what about?”

“The phone call with Liz.” He told her.

“Oh, she’s not coming.” Maria went over and sat down on the couch. “Mainly because of that big fight her and Max got in and then of course the whole Tess thing.”

“Oh. Ok.” Michael said. He was about to sit down, when he heard a knock at the door.

He opened it and there were Kyle, Tess, and Max. Soon after them came Alex and Courtney and finally Brody.

They all took a seat and got ready. Brody looked around the room with a confused look on his face. “Where is Liz?” He asked.

“Oh she’s not coming.” Maria told him.

“Why not?” He asked.

“Um… just because.” Maria said, not wanting to say it was because of Max and Tess.

Brody sighed. “Well she needs to be here.”

“Why?” Tess asked.

“Because, it’s important to me that you all know the story. Everyone involved with you must here it. Call her and get her over here.” It was obvious that having Liz there was important to Brody and no one really wanted to argue with him, so Alex grabbed the phone and dialed her number.

“Hey Mrs. Parker. This is Alex. Yeah is Liz there? Ok can I talk to her? Thanks… Hey Liz… Yeah I’m at Michael’s. Hey, um Brody said he really thinks you need to be here for this part. Yeah… I’m not really sure… Yeah I know… Yeah… Uh huh…. Ok… well yeah I understand… No he said it’s important that you be here… yeah I can do that… Ok… Bye Liz.”

Alex hung up the phone. “She’s on her way.”

* * *

When Liz arrived at the apartment she didn’t say a word to anyone. She wouldn’t make eye contact with Max or Tess and she just sat down on the floor next to Alex. She couldn’t understand why she needed to be here, it was just going to hurt her more. But as always, when the aliens called, she was there. So she took her seat and prepared for the story.

“Well we left off with Zan falling asleep in his room after finding that Rath is seeing Ianna. So that’s where I’ll start.” Brody started the story. “When Zan awoke the next morning, he was surprised at what he saw…”

Antar - The Castle - 8 and ½ Antarian years before the fall

Zan awoke to the sound of voices downstairs. It was a big castle but the voices always seemed to echo from the kitchen and dining hall and recreation room to the upstairs bedroom quarters. Zan heard many female voices laughing, and it sounded like whoever was down there was having fun. He put on his clothes and descended the steps to the recreation room. There he found quite a surprise. His sisters were laughing and talking to none other than Catherine. Vilandra and Ianna were sewing and Catherine diligently watched. The three would laugh, talk, tell jokes. Zan couldn’t believe his eyes. The love of his life was in his house, with his sisters. He stared at the sight for a few moments before his presence was noticed.

“Zan! We were just getting to know Catherine. She is great.” Ianna told her brother.

Zan cautiously walked into the room looking at the three girls with a rather perplexed look on his face.

“What’s going on?” He asked.

Catherine stood up. “I suppose I should explain that.” She walked towards him. “Yesterday after you left, my Father came home and found me rather a wreck in my room. I told him how I loved you and how… well how we loved each other and how we wanted to be together. After some convincing and a call to your Father… well he agreed to let us see each other.”

Zan almost leapt for joy. He had never been so happy in his life. He grabbed Catherine and kissed her. He didn’t care that his sisters were watching. He was so happy.

Catherine laughed and smiled when they pulled apart from their kiss and the other two girls were giggling.

“Zan’s got a girlfriend.” Mocked Ianna.

Zan looked at Catherine, not able to take his eyes off of her, afraid that it was all a dream and in a moment she would be gone. There she was standing in front of him, and they were finally going to be together. He swore to himself that moment that nothing would ever get in the way of them again.

* * *

Vilandra kicked at the stones on the sidewalk. She saw how happy Zan was, and she was happy for him, she only wished she could love like that. She had Rath, but she wasn’t in love with him. And she knew he felt the same. They were just too close, like family, not like lovers. She sighed as she thought of what love would feel like when she found it. She envisioned that there would be a handsome man and he would sweep her into his arms and murmur sweet nothings into her ear. That he would keep her safe no matter what. That he would love her fully and completely and always be there for her. She knew that someone was out there for her, but she wasn’t sure who it was. She knew that when love came to her though, it would be obvious, just like it had been with Zan and Catherine. That she would just run into it and there it would be… like

BAM! She felt his body, touching her’s and she felt overwhelmed. She looked up at the man she had run into and saw the most beautiful blue eyes she had ever seen. His blonde hair glistened in the sunlight. He was tall and muscular and he smiled at her. Oh his smile. It was perfect.

“I’m so sorry!” She said, obviously embarrassed. He just laughed.

“It’s ok. Really.” He told her.

She was immediately entranced by his voice. His deep voice that captivated her.

“I really should be watching where I’m going.” She said.

“I guess I should be too.” He smiled again and she almost fainted.

“I’m Vilandra.” She said boldly. Vilandra wasn’t one to sit around for things to come to her. She took action, and with this one, she wanted to know everything about him.

“I’m Khivar. Nice to meet you Vilandra.” She took a deep breath. Khivar. That was his name.

She felt her legs go to mush as she looked at this man. By some miraculous fate they had bumped into each other, literally, and she knew it was more than a coincidence. She felt something strange for him, something real, something true. Was it love? Was this what she had been looking for?

“So Vilandra. What are you doing just walking the streets of Antar on this beautiful day.”

“Oh, I had to get away from home for awhile. You know just a nice walk.”

“I’m surprised a beautiful girl such as yourself isn’t at home primping for a date. Tonight is date night.” He smiled at her.

She laughed. “I’m not exactly allowed to date. Doesn’t go over well in my family.”

“Why’s that?” He asked. “Oh, come over here. We can sit.” He motioned to a bench sitting in front of a small store.

The two walked over and sat down. “So why don’t you date?” He asked again.

“Well…” She debated on telling him the truth of her identity. Most people knew Zan, he was going to be the King of the planet one day, but Vilandra and Ianna weren’t in the public eye very much. They were always trying to be protected from men who just wanted to take over the throne. She didn’t think Khivar could possibly be a person like that, and her feelings for him were so strong. She decided to tell him. “I’m Princess Vilandra.” She said looking down, looking embarrassed by her identity.

“Wow. I’ve never met a princess before.” He said. “So, I suppose a girl of your station wouldn’t want to go on a date with a guy like me.”

Her heart started beating fast and butterflies fluttered in her stomach. Was he asking her out. He looked into his eyes. His beautiful sparkly blue eyes. They were so pretty.

“Actually, a girl like me would love to go out with a guy like you.” She told him, hoping he was asking her out.

“Well what are you doing tonight?”

“Nothing!” Her brown eyes widened and she got excited. This man was asking her out.

“Well what do you say we go on a date. Tonight.”

“Ok. I’d love too. Just one thing. Could we meet here. Ya know, I’m not going to be allowed to go unless I sneak out.”

“That sounds fine. I’ll meet you here at eight.” He told her.

“Ok, I’ll see you at eight.” She stood up and bounced back home. She had asked for love, and she had gotten it.

* * *

Khivar grinned to himself. Stupid girl. How easy it was to manipulate her. Like he didn’t know who she was. She had played right into his plan. She would sneak out and go out with him. He would convince her he loved her, and then the rest of the cycle would be set into motion. Stupid, stupid princess, he thought again. This was how he was going to get to Zan. Zan stole his love, his Catherine. They were going to get married and then he interfered and the stupid father called the engagement off, only one day after it had been announced. He loved Catherine and he would make sure Zan regretted ever taking her from him. Soon, I’ll have what I want, he thought. Soon it will all be mine.

FEEDBACK PLEASE!!! :-)

Part 12

Antar - The Palace - 6 Antarian Years before the Fall

17 year old Zan, Prince of Antar, walked boldly down the hallway, a mission in his mind. When he reached his destination he stopped. He kicked the door of the room open and a shrill shriek came from inside.

“What are you doing Zan?” Vilandra screamed at her brother. Her arms flailing around in the air.

He stepped inside the room and looked around to make sure she was alone.

“Zan, what are you doing? I asked you a question!” She was older by one year, and the fact that her little brother had just kicked open her door, potentially ruining it, enraged her.

“You are not to see him ever again, do you hear me?” He yelled. She could see the fury in his eyes.

That didn’t stop her from protesting. “You can’t tell me what to do.” She felt more anger rise up in her body. She would not be told what to do.

“I love him and he loves me, and I’ll see him if I please. Get out of my room.”

Zan grabbed her arm. “You will not see him ever again. If I have to take it to our Father I will. Don’t you understand? He doesn’t love you. This isn’t about you. It’s about me. He wants revenge on me.”

She pulled her arm out of his grip and took a step away from her brother. She didn’t even know who he was at this point. He was never violent or mean, always understanding. Sure he could be forceful, but never hurtful.

“When will you get it Zan! Not everything on this planet is about you. For once something is about me. He loves me and I’ll not let you get in the way of that. So fine take it to Father. I don’t care. I’m sick of you controlling my life. Now get out of this room now.” She stomped her foot angrily.

“This isn’t over Vilandra.” He stormed out of the room and back down the hall.

Vilandra collapsed on her bed and began to sob. They couldn’t keep controlling her. It wasn’t fair. Khivar loved her. She knew he did.

She sat up and started to stop crying. She sniffled but then immediately ran to her closet. She pulled out a big bag and started throwing belongings in it. Mainly clothes, but other things that were important to her. When she was done she shoved the bag under her bed. She would have to wait until everyone was asleep. Until tonight. Tonight she would go to him.

* * *

“Zan calm down. You can’t treat her like that. You aren’t in control of her, she is right.” Larek said, trying to calm down the enraged Prince.

“I know what he’s trying to do. Larek, I know it. He is mad at me because of Catherine, well I won’t let him. For two years I’ve been in the dark about this secret relationship she’s been having with him. 2 years! All this time that Khivar and I have been at odds with each other, she’s meeting him every night, betraying me.” Zan paced in front of his friend.

“She’s not betraying you, She’s in love. She doesn’t understand.” He tried to explain.

“Well it stops now.” He said.

Larek shook his head. “I’m afraid it never stops. You know your sister. She will go to any length to get what she wants.”

“That’s what I’m afraid of Larek.” The young Prince looked solemnly down at the floor. “That’s what I’m afraid of.”

* * *

She threw her bag out the window and winced as it landed with a loud thump. She waited a few moments before going herself, making sure no one heard her bag. When she assumed the coast was clear, she shimmied down the drainpipe. She laughed at how cliché she was. Here she was stealing away into the night to be with the man she is banned from seeing. Here she is shimming down a drainpipe. This was all just too unreal.

When she finally reached the bottom she grabbed her bag and threw it over he shoulder. She grunted as the heavy bag weighed her down. Should I have people to do this for me? She thought, I am a Princess. Then she laughed again. I’m leaving all that behind.

“Goodbye castle, goodbye overbearing father and brother!” She yelled into the night.

She then looked sadly at the castle. “Goodbye mama, I love you.” She whispered.

She headed off to the front of the castle. She set her bag back down when she reached the gate. She reached up to unlock it quietly.

“What are you doing?” She heard behind her. She mentally cursed then turned to face her brother.

“I’m leaving. Goodbye.” She turned back and started to unlock the gate, not caring how quiet she was.

He walked towards her hurriedly and slammed the gate shut before she could even get the chance to open it. “Go inside.”

“No.” She furrowed her eye brows and stared at her brother. “This is over Zan. Goodbye.”

She tried to push past him, but he wouldn’t let her.

“You are making a huge mistake Vilandra. You know that right? If you leave this, you’ll never be back.” He threatened.

“I don’t care. I don’t want this life. I want a life with Khivar, now get out of my way.”

“What about Rath? What about the life you are supposed to have with him huh?”

“Oh please. He’s in love with Ianna." Zan hid his surprise that she knew, but didn't do a good job. "What you thought I wouldn't figure it out. It's so obvious that those two are in love. And oh By the way did you ever think about the life you were supposed to have with Ava when you left her for Catherine.”

“That’s different.” He yelled.

“No it’s not! I love Khivar just like you love Catherine. And he loves me. And I’m leaving. You can’t stop me.”

Zan slowly moved out of her way. “Fine. I can’t stop you, you’re right, but this is a huge mistake Vilandra. One you will regret the rest of your life.”

“Then it’s my mistake to make. Goodbye Zan.” She opened the gate and walked out, leaving her whole life behind her, ready to start a new one.

* * *

Zan sat sadly staring out the window. The sky was a deep purple and rain pounded on the roof of the castle. He relived the moments over and over in his head. His sister leaving, going off to be with him, his enemy. He had lost her.

He looked over at the couch and watched her sleep. His Catherine. They were going to be married in a little less than a week. He had been so excited, but now, how could he be happy. His sister was gone, and wouldn’t be at his wedding. She wouldn’t be at the most important day of his life. She would be with him.

Zan hated him, with every fiber of his being. When he thought about the possibility that he almost married Catherine, it tore him up inside. And now, to know that he was manipulating his poor sister. It just wasn’t fair. He was to be a King, and he felt that he was powerless.

He heard her stir and was broken from his thoughts. He looked to see Catherine waking up slowly. He went over to her and kneeled next to the couch, touching her face.

“Hi.” She said and smiled. She leaned in and kissed his cheek. “You look sad.” She said frowning.

“Vilandra left last night.” He told her.

Catherine saw the sadness in her lover’s eyes and she reached for his hand and caressed it gently. “I’m so sorry. I tried to talk to her, but she wouldn’t listen.” Catherine and Vilandra had become very close over the past two years. Catherine had been accepted into the family with open arms. The King and Queen just fell in love with her within days. They regretted ever trying to ban Zan from seeing her, because they saw the love that the two held for each other.

“I know.” He said gently. “I tried too. But it was no use. She’ll do what she wants. She’s a big girl.”

Catherine smiled a bittersweet smile. “She is. And you have to let her learn things on her own. For her to grow and change. She’ll come back Zan, I know she will.”

Zan smiled at the girl he loved. He couldn’t believe the compassion and love she had inside of her for everyone she met. She was truly an angel. his angel.

He cupped her face in his hands and kissed her lightly on the
lips. “I love you.” He told her.

“I love you too.”

::Sorry it's kinda short... I'm stuck in transition mode trying to get to the next of the big stuff... Hope you like it though!::

Part 13A

Antar - Khivar’s Home - The night after Vilandra left

Vilandra smiled at the man she loved as he brought her a warm drink. He had found her highly distraught as she paced with her heavy black bag. They were planning on meeting that night, to go on one of their “dates”. Those usually consisted of Khivar asking Vilandra every last detail of her childhood and of the castle. She thought he was interested in her, when the real truth was, he needed her to divulge as much information as he could get out of her, so that when the time came, the castle would be his.

“There Vilandra, “He handed her the drink and sat down next to her, rubbing her shoulders.

She sighed dreamily. “Thank you.” She could feel his hands touching her shoulders and it made her want to scream out for more. But she didn’t. She was too upset about leaving home. About missing her Mama, and strangely about missing Rath and Zan and Catharine and Ianna. They were her family and she needed them, but Khivar was her lover, and she needed him too. If it came down to choosing, she would choose him.

“Why don’t you tell me what happened.” He told her.

She obliged and relived the events of the 2 days before. He sat there considerately listening, and she was amazed at how he was so selfless. He always listened to her babble on. It took her a while to open up to him though. Vilandra had always had walls around her, not as drastic of walls as Rath, but she wanted to keep herself safe. It had to do with being royalty. She knew all of the people out there, ready to use her. But after awhile she learned that Khivar was different. She opened herself up to him and told him everything. She told him things she probably shouldn’t have, things that probably could destroy her Father and Brother, but she didn’t care. That was the chance she had to take, because this love she felt was real. She didn’t care what price she had to pay in the end. All she wanted was Khivar.

* * *

Roswell, New Mexico - Michael’s Apartment - Friday Night

Isabel sat stunned. Stunned at her actions, at the story. How could she? How could she betray her family like that. How could she walk out on her Father, Brother, Sister… and her Mother. Why would she do that? It didn’t make sense to Isabel. “No.” She said, before she realized the words came out of her mouth. She stood up and faced Larek.

“No, you’re lying! I would have never done that! Never!”

“Isabel…” Alex stood up next to her, trying to console her.

“Isabel, You didn’t do that.” Larek told her. “Vilandra did. You are no longer Vilandra. You are Isabel Evans. Someone completely different.”

“But I’m Vilandra. She’s always in me and what if, why? Why did I do that?” She asked, her hands shaking from the truth.

Alex coaxed her to sit back down before and started rubbing her back. “It’s ok.”

“You were in love. You loved him and you thought he loved you too. He played the part well. But the truth was, Khivar could never see past the love he felt for Catherine. And in Catherine getting taken away from him, the love he had for her turned into pure hatred for Zan and the Royal Family.” Larek explained.

“What is with this Catherine girl, she like playmate of the year or what?” Michael asked. Maria slapped him on the arm.

“Dumb Spaceboy.” She muttered.

Larek laughed. “Catherine was just, as I described earlier, captivating. No one really knew what it was about her. She was kind and selfless. She would have given anything for Zan. And she did. She gave everything up in her life for him.” Larek looked over at Liz and she gave him a weird glance.

No one else seemed to notice, so he went right on with his story.

“Everything seemed to be going good. Well as good as things got after one’s sister ran off with one’s enemy, but things were about to change…”

* * *

Antar - The Palace Garden - 1 week later

The garden was beautiful that day. The flowers were in full bloom and they were surrounded by roses. Beautiful white roses.

Catharine had been partial to white roses back on Earth. Her mother would grow them in the backyard and Catharine would play for hours with her roses, or by her roses. White roses always reminded Catherine of her Mother. When she had been brought to Antar she remembered crying for days because there were no white roses anywhere. She pined for them, to remember her Mother.

So her Father went back to Earth, for the last time, and brought her back a hundred white roses. He also brought her the start of a rose bush and she planted it in her own garden.

Zubin was afraid that that roses wouldn’t grow in Antarian soil, but much to his surprise, after a few summers, his house was surrounded by them.

So Catherine, while moving into the castle two years ago, brought part of her rose garden with her, and with permission she planted them and now the palace garden was just brimming with them

They were beautiful and just as she had hoped they would be for her and Zan’s special day.

Not a thing was out of place, not even the tiniest detail. The long process of planning and decorating had been taken care of by the Queen and many other servants and Catherine was not complaining. It was a lot less stressful if she didn’t have to do it herself. Of course the Queen asked for her input and that was when she told her, she just wanted a million white roses. The queen happily obliged, excited about the new flowers in her garden.

The only thing Catherine was missing was her maid of honor. Vilandra was supposed to be standing next to her at the wedding, but they hadn’t heard word from her in a week. She thought for sure the wedding would be postponed, but the King and Queen insisted they mustn’t let Vilandra’s little temper tantrums interfere. They assured her that Vilandra would come running home any time.

So here they were on their perfect day. The sun shining brightly in the lavendar sky. The clouds were pink and they accentuated the sky, making all the colors of the sun and clouds and sky blend into a perfect day. Catherine couldn’t help but be overjoyed. Not only was she marrying the man she loved, but she was becoming a princess, and in time, a Queen. No girl could ask for more really.

The ceremony was about to start and Catherine was surprisingly, not nervous. She watched as her Father, however, paced. He had protested when she moved into the castle, and she had been sad, leaving him. But the King and Queen ordered it for her protection. Khivar was not very happy with the new arrangement and the King and Queen would have it no other way. So he had let her go, as for her own good, and he stayed at home. She visited him everyday. Usually Zan went along with her, but sometimes she’d go alone.

She loved her Father so much and was so happy that she had been brought to this planet. This planet where she met the man she loved. The man she was about to marry.

“Father! Stop pacing!” Catherine giggled.

He shook himself from his thoughts and walked to his daughter.

“I love you very much Catherine.” He told her. “I’m very proud of you. You’re going to be a great Queen.”

“I love you too Daddy!” She said, hugging him. They embraced for a long
time, but parted when they got word it was time.

They walked into the garden, the white roses everywhere. Zan stood at the front, with Rath at his side. Rath was dressed in military wear, as he was training to become the leader of the Antarian army. Larek was next to Rath in a white tuxedo. And Zan. Zan was dressed in all black. It was a tradition. His black shirt, black tie, black pants, black jacket, and black shoes. Catherine had been dismayed by it at first, thinking black was such a dreary color, but when she saw him standing there, she couldn’t help but smile. He looked gorgeous. And she had never been more excited about the wedding night.

* * *

Zan took a deep breath and held it as she walked down the aisle. She was stunning in her white dress. It was emaculate. The strapless top showed off her strong, tan shoulders. It then moved down to her waist where it flared out, material everywhere. The bottom of the dress was big and fluffy at the bottom. He thought she just looked more beautiful everyday. And this day, she was especially beautiful. And he had never been more excited about the wedding night.

::Well here it is the next part... I can't say I'mall that thrilled about it haha because it's lacking some major things but I just had a hard time with it. The rest of this part will be out later. Enjoy and thanks for the feedback! I really appreciate it!::

Part 13B

“I Zan take thee Catharine to be my wife.”

“I Catharine take thee Zan to be my husband.”

“I now pronounce you man and wife.”

Zan leaned in and kissed his bride. This was the happiest moment of his life.

“Aww, how cute.” The familiar evil voice boomed behind them.

The whole audience as well as the wedding party turned to face the back of the garden.

“I guess my invitation got lost in the mail.” Khivar snickered.

Zan stood in front of Catherine and Rath pulled out his sword.

“Oh look, Zan and his 2nd. Are you really ready to fight a whole army?”

The two men looked at each other not sure of what to do.

“Zan, your sister has been so great at informing me of all of your secrets. I really couldn’t have made it to this party without her.”

Zan became enraged and started towards the intruder. Rath held him back.

“Leave us alone.” Zan spat.

“I can’t believe you Zan, turning me away from your wedding. I’m deeply hurt. Especially since you are marrying the woman I’m supposed to be with.”

The King and Queen stepped up and faced Khivar. “I order you to leave.” Edric yelled.

Khivar just laughed. “Oh Eddy… I don’t think I’m ready just yet. Not until I get to talk to the bride.

Zubin stepped up and walked towards the man. “You stay away from my daughter. I can’t believe I almost allowed you to marry her.”

Khivar grabbed Zubin by the throat and squeezed. Zubin stuttered for breath and Catherine screamed. “Stop!” The shrill voice yelled. “Please stop! Leave him alone!”

Khivar threw his hostage onto the ground and started towards Zan and Catherine. Rath moved up next to his best friend and Larek moved in next him. The three men made a barrier between Khivar and Catherine.

“Leave her alone. Leave all of us alone. Just leave.” Zan ordered.

“I’m not into taking orders, Zan. Let me see Catherine.”

“No!” He yelled. Rath held his sword ready to fight with the man at any moment, but Khivar just laughed.

“Fine. I suppose I’ll have to wait until later.” He turned back around and started walking away. Zan and Rath looked at each other, confused that he had given in so easily. Something wasn’t right.

Catherine’s father, who was still recovering, was laying on the ground. Khivar stopped when he got to him. He pulled out his sword and slammed it in his chest. Catherine screamed again, this time she was sobbing. “NO!” She started towards her Father, but Zan and Rath held her back for her own safety.

“Let this be a warning Zan. This isn’t over, in fact it’s far from over.” With that Khivar saw himself out.

Catherine ran to her Father who was bleeding to death and she knelt beside him. She put her hand on his chest to try to stop the blood, but there was too much.

“I’m so sorry Daddy, I’m so sorry.” She cried.

Rath ran after Khivar and Zan ran to his new wife. He stayed back a considerable distance, giving her time with her Father.

“I love you Catherine. I love you and I’m so proud of you. You are going to be a great wife and a great Queen one day.”

“I love you Daddy,” She cried. “I love you.”

* * *

Roswell, New Mexico - Michael’s Apartment - Late Friday Night

“Rath came back to inform Zan that Khivar was no where to be found. Zan nodded solemnly and approached Catherine, who was sobbing over her dead Father. I stood there in shock, wondering what had just happened. One minute everyone was happy, and the next, someone was dying.”

“Zan tried to help Catherine up, but she wouldn’t move. ‘Leave me.’ She cried. Her beautiful white dress covered with crimson red blood. Her long curly hair was a mess and tears were streaming down her beautiful face.”

“Zan kneeled down next to her, to hold her, but she pushed him away. ‘Why didn’t you do anything? Why didn’t you stop him!’ ‘I tried,’ he told her, ‘I swear, I tried.’”

“No you didn’t! You just let him die! You just let Khivar kill him.” Liz shouted out. She immediately covered her mouth, her eye’s wide at her outburst. It was almost like she could remember the events. They were flowing through her brain like they were her own.

“Liz…?” Max looked at her. “Liz, what’s going on?”

“I remember!” Her own eyes filling with tears. “You tried to comfort me and I pushed you away and I screamed at you. ‘You did this! You killed him.’ I yelled. I looked down at my blood soaked hands and dress and then back at my Father. He was just laying there, dead, but blood was still seeping from him and I put my hands back over it to stop it, it didn’t help. Nothing stopped it. I went to wipe my tears away and I smeared his blood all over my face.” Liz was full out sobbing at this point. “He just died, and no one tried to help him.”

The whole group looked at Liz completely shocked. She was remembering things from the aliens past. Things like she was Catherine. None of them really knew what to say. Except Larek, who didn’t look all that shocked.

“What happened next Liz?” He asked, soothingly.

“I… um… I turned to Zan and he was crying too. He lifted me up and this time I didn’t stop him. He wrapped his arms around me and held me while I cried. He comforted me. After a few minutes I remember he helped me inside and into my room. We stayed there all day and all night. I cried and he just held me. The blood got all over the sheets and all over him. By the next morning it was everywhere.” Liz swallowed hard and closed her eyes trying to remember the next bits of information.

“Do you remember anymore?” Larek asked.

“A servant girl helped me into the bathroom to change out of my blood stained wedding dress, that morning. She washed my hair and my hands, ridding me of the blood. After that she helped me back to the bed where the sheets had been changed. She helped me in and I fell back asleep. When I awoke again Zan was with me, stroking my hair. He told me how sorry he was and that Khivar would pay. I didn‘t pay much attention to him. I was almost…catatonic.”

“Oh my God.” Isabel whispered.

Larek nodded his head at Liz’s memories. “You’re right. That’s exactly what happened.”

::Here is part 14, it's pretty short, sorry! It's kinda transitional... anyway, I'll try to get another part up later tonight but I have to work and stuff so we'll see... Anyway enjoy!::

Part 14

Tess's face twisted in anger. “You are lying! That is not how it happened. You’re lying. All of this has been a lie!” She yelled. She stood up and faced the group. “This isn’t real! Naseado never told me this! He is lying!” She pointed to Larek, and then sought at out Liz. “And I don’t know what the hell you have to do with any of this. You aren’t Catherine. You aren’t one of us! Catherine doesn‘t exist!”

"Tess sit down!” Michael yelled. “Sit down and shut the fuck up, I’ve about had it with you.”

“You are all so stupid.” Her voice angry and bitter. “I can’t believe you believe this.”

“Tess I said sit down.” Michael infuriated at her outburst.

“I don’t take orders from the second in command, Michael.” She spat.

“Tess, sit down and shut up.” Max roared.

Tess glared at him, but did as she was told. “This is ridiculous.” She mumbled.

“I said shut up!” His anger rising towards the blonde.

A silence came over the group as they sat stunned about the new developments in the story. Each member of the group, had a million thoughts and questions running through their own mind. Liz had stopped her crying and was sitting with her knees pulled to her chest, trying to make sense out of what was happening.

“Liz…” Max said the first words, reaching out to the woman he loved.

“Not now Max.” She told him, her mind in a blur. She quickly stood up and scurried out of the apartment.

Max got up to follow her but Maria stopped him. “She doesn’t need you right now Max. Let me go.” Maria followed her best friend outside to comfort her.

* * *

“You ok?” Maria asked, sitting on the ground next to Liz.

Liz shook her head ‘no’ and stared at the sky.

“Do you wanna talk about it?”

Liz shook her head ‘no’ again.

“Ok.” Maria didn’t push her.

“My whole life has been a lie.” Liz mumbled. “Everything. I just, I can’t deal with this. I was so ready to be out of this alien chaos for a long time, only to find out, I can never escape it.”

“Liz…”

“It’s my destiny!” She laughed bitterly. “I’m so fucking sick of that word, I hate that word. And yet, it follows me like a dark shadow wherever I go.”

Maria put her arms around Liz. “I know Babe, but it’s ok. We’ll work it out.”

“How can we work it out? I’m a freaking alien. My whole life I’ve been lied to, I mean was I adopted, what’s going on? I’m so confused.” The start of tears stung at her eyes.

“Lizzie, maybe you should talk to Larek. He’s the one with all the answers.”

“No! I wish I had never heard this stupid story. I just want to go on with my happy normal existence as Liz Parker. I want to be able to date whoever I want, I want to be able to do whatever I want, go wherever I want. Now I’m one of them and what? I have to obey Max because he’s the King. Maria I have dreams, big dreams and they are all being shattered. I can never have a normal life now.” Liz leaned into Maria and put her head on her shoulder and started to cry. “I just want a normal life.”

“I know Babe, I know.” Maria ran her fingers through her hair. “We’ll figure it out.” She promised.

* * *

Michael looked around the room at his friends. Tess and Max were in a heated discussion about her actions in the other room. They tried to keep the noise down, but occasionally screaming would come from the room. Isabel was pacing up and down, trying to figure out what was going on. Alex, Kyle and Valenti were talking quietly on the floor. Brody/Larek sat quietly in a chair, not paying attention to any of them.

Then there was Courtney, she walked up behind him and put a hand on his shoulder. She pulled away from her touch and turned to her. “What?” He asked.

“Whoa, sorry soldier.” She took a step back in shock.

“Sorry, stressed.” He explained.

“I get it. Well I knew Catherine was here somewhere but I never knew it was Liz Parker. Shoulda figured I guess.”

Michael ran his fingers through his hair. “Yeah.”

“So you and Maria are back together?” She asked him.

“Yeah, I guess.” He told her.

“That’s too bad Mikey G, we were just starting to have fun.” She raised her eyebrows and smiled. She ran her hands down his arm and he looked at her funny.

“EARTH TO COURTNEY! MICHAEL - TAKEN!” Maria yelled from the door, her and Liz rejoining the group.

Courtney rolled her eyes. “Sorry.”

Maria stalked up to the two and stood next to them, glaring at Courtney.

“See ya, Mikey G.” She said smiling seductively, then leaving the apartment.

Michael watched her go then turned to Maria. She slapped him upside the head. “Stupid!” She muttered.

“Ow, what did you do that for?” He asked, putting his hand on the back of his head.

“You were checking her out Michael, I saw you.”

“No, I wasn’t!” He defended himself.

“Yes, you were.”

He sighed in defeat, not wanting to fight with her.

They joined the group. Everyone was in a circle, figuring out their next move.

“I’m going home.” Liz told them, as soon as they all were in earshot. “I’ll be back later tomorrow, after I’ve thought about this all and slept. Tomorrow I’ll want answers. Today, I just want to be alone.”

“I think that’s a wise idea.” Brody/Larek told her.

“Liz… I wanna…” Max started.

Liz held her hand up signaling him to stop. “Later Max, later.”

He nodded respecting her wishes.

“Liz? Do you want me to come with you?” Maria asked.

“No, I want to be alone.”

“Ok.”

Liz turned and left the apartment, closing the door softly behind her.

“So what now?” Michael asked.

“I think we should all just go home and come back tomorrow.” Max
suggested. “Some of us need time to think.” He said. “And some of us need time to cool down.” He stared at Tess.

“Good idea.” Brody/Larek said. “I’ll see you all here tomorrow around 1:00 PM. That should be adequate time.”

The gang gathered their things and headed out, leaving Maria and Michael alone in the apartment.

“Do you have any milk?” She asked, going through the refridgerator.

“No. What are you still doing here?” He asked.

She pouted. “Well my Mom thinks I’m staying at Liz’s, I can’t very well go home.”

“So you’ve decided to grace me with your presence is that it?”

She walked over to where he was sitting on the couch and stood over him, her legs straddling his. “You mean you don’t want me here.” She smiled innocently.

He tried to control himself. MUD MUD MUD, no luck. He reached around her waist and pulled her closer to him. “I definetly want you around.” He smiled, then kissed her deeply.

She giggled when they parted. “You just can’t resist the DeLuca charm.” She told him.

He laughed and kissed her again. “You’re right. I can’t.”

Part 15

Antar - 6 Antarian Years Before The Fall - The Palace

Catherine tossed and turned in the bed she was sleeping in alone, in the room that she was sleeping in alone. It had been that way since the wedding. She wanted only to be alone and wallow in her grief. It had been weeks since the wedding and the fated day that Khivar had killed her Father. She had been on the verge of a nervous breakdown for a few days, but came out of her state slowly and she was now fully aware and functional, though she wished she wasn’t.

It would have been so much easier for Catherine if she could just die with her Father. After her mother had died, he was all Catherine had. He took care of her for a long time and they were extremely close. The only other person she had been close with before Zan was Khivar. Way back when they were children Khivar had been her first real friend. Now he was the one who murdered her Father.

She couldn’t get the images out of her head, all the blood. Her Father laying there in her arms, bleeding all over her dress, her hands. He was dying in her arms and she couldn’t fix him.

Catherine gave up on trying to sleep and sat up in bed. She tiredly rubbed her eyes, trying to wake up. It was still the middle of the night, but Catherine knew she wouldn’t be getting anymore sleep. She grabbed the soft, fluffy, white robe next to her bed and put it around herself and tied it in the front. The robe was thick, but provided no warmth for her. She rubbed her hands against her arms trying to warm herself up… it was no use.

Catherine stepped out of her bedroom and tip toed to the other end of the hall. That’s where Zan was. He resided in his old bedroom while Catherine recovered in the one they would eventually share. Catherine felt horrible about how she had treated him the past weeks. He had been so supportive and she knew he was doing the best he could. She was glad she still had him in her life.

She crept down the hall to his room and slowly opened the door, not wanting to wake him. She quietly closed the door behind her and slowly climbed in bed and got under the covers. She kissed her husband on the cheek and put her arms around him and fell asleep, and slept peacefully for the first time in weeks.

* * *

Zan awoke and felt her next to him. He smiled and turned to face her. She was asleep, and he spent a long time just watching her sleep peacefully. He wiped a piece of hair from her face and kissed her forehead. Her eyes fluttered open and she smiled slightly at him.

“Morning.” He said.

“MMM… Morning.” She smiled bigger.

“That’s a nice sight. To see you smile.”

She nodded her head slightly. “It feels good.”

He leaned his head in and kissed her lips softly. “I love you Catherine.” He told her softly.

“I love you too Zan, I’m so sorry about how I’ve acted.”

He had his head propped up on his elbow and he shook his head. “Don’t be. It’s ok. I know you were hurting. Just know that I love you so much. I’m going to kill Khivar.”

“Let’s not talk about it ok? Let’s just… start our lives.” She told him.

He grinned. “I’d love to Princess Catherine.”

She laughed then kissed him. “Well Prince Zan, what do you say we have our wedding night right now.”

He raised his eyebrows. “Princess, are you trying to seduce me?”

“Definitely.”

He put his hands on both sides of her head and pulled her into him and kissed her deeply. She eagerly returned the kiss, resolving in her mind, that it was time to start living again.

* * *

“Ianna. I need to talk to you.” Rath told her. She smiled at him.

“Ok. What about Lover?” She said.

He sighed, knowing that this wasn’t going to be easy. “Ianna, this, with us, this little secret affair we’re having… it’s over.”

“What? Why? Rath?”

He sat down next to her on her bed. “Ianna, this can never be, for a million reasons.”

“Name them!” She demanded.

“Well I’m betrothed to your sister.” He told her.

“You better have something better than that since she ran away a month ago.” He could see anger and hurt in his eyes.

“I’m a soldier Ianna. My main goal right now is to hunt down Khivar and kill him and get Vilandra back. I can’t do that and have you waiting for me. You distract me.”

“But it’s ok to marry Vilandra and have her waiting for you.” She scoffed.

He shook his head. “If I marry Vilandra it’s because I have too. I love you Ianna, more than I’ve ever loved anything on this damn planet. This can’t be, it’s just… not meant.”

He saw the tears brimming on her eyelids and he tried to look away, knowing that if she cried, he’d have to hold her, and if he held her he’d want to kiss her, and if he kissed her… it’d be all over.

“I love you Rath.” She started crying.

“I’m sorry. It’s over.” He stood up and walked out, not looking at her.

He stepped out of the room and closed the door behind him, leaning up against it, breathing heavily. He heard her burst into sobs and it took everything in him not to run back in there and comfort his only love. But he didn’t. He slid down and sat against the wall, his head in his hands, and tears he didn’t even know he had, spilling down his cheeks.

* * *

Antar - Khivar’s House

Vilandra cried alone in a corner. With her knees pulled to her chest, wrapped in arms, she rocked back and forth sobbing loudly.

“SHUT UP!!” Khivar yelled, throwing a vase in her direction. It narrowly avoided her, but only caused her to sob louder.

Khivar went to her side and kneeled next to her. “Vilandra! Stop crying!” He said loudly in her face.

“You killed him! Why did you have to kill him?” She asked through her tears, still rocking.

He put his hand on her face but she pulled back. “I told you, I had too. I’m sorry.”

“No.” She shook her head. “No it’s not right. Who are you?” She asked. “You aren’t the person I fell in love with!”

He laughed spitefully. “Yes I am Vilandra. And you love me. And you helped me kill.”

“No! I didn’t know you were going to hurt anyone!” She yelled.

He rubbed her cheek with his hand. “Oh Vilandra. It’ll be ok. I love you.” He lied.

Her sobbing slowed and she looked at him. “Really?” She asked.

“Yes. I love you. Now get up and come here.” He stood up and held his arms out to her.

She got up and rushed into them. “So you won’t hurt anyone else?” She asked into his chest.

He grinned evily, but she didn’t see. “No Lonnie, I’ll never hurt anyone again.”

Happy Holidays... here's a little Christmas present for everyone!

Part 16

Roswell, New Mexico - Michael’s Apartment - Saturday Afternoon

The group of eleven sat around Brody/Larek has they had for the past two weekends. This time felt different though. Liz was huddled to herself in a corner, remembering bits and pieces of the story. Brody/Larek just continued the story and answered any questions. Liz had yet to ask any questions about how she came to be on Earth. She kept quiet through everything. Courtney sat in a chair stealing glances at Michael and Maria who were either curled up together, or fighting… it was off an on all day. The rest of the group sat intently listening, Tess still angered, but calm, and regretting her comments the night before.

“So Michael has like this big love out there… great.” Maria rolled her eyes.

Michael ignored her, but Brody/Larek spoke to her. “Yes, Ianna and Rath were deeply in love, though no one saw it until a lot later. Rath was a stonewall, never letting her in to closely and she would be upset by it a lot. He loved her, but was always too worried about hurting her.” He explained.

“Gee… sounds familiar.” Maria mumbled.

Michael ignored her again. “So what happened to her?” He asked.

He didn’t see the hurt in Maria’s face as he inquired about his past loved.

“I will get to that, I am afraid if I jump ahead to far without explanation I will just confuse you.”

“Well then by all means… proceed with the next part.” Max told him.

“Ok well now I actually do start skipping a lot… there are big moments coming up and they will take a lot of explanation so I may skip over minor things, you understand. Anyway… let’s jump ahead another two years…”

Antar - The Palace - 4 Antarian Years Before The Fall

Vilandra snuck quietly from the house, her bag over her shoulder. Once she was out of the house, and the door was shut behind her, she ran as fast as she could. She ran towards town, which was a good six or seven miles from Khivar’s house. She felt the heavy bag beat against her shoulder, but that didn’t stop her. She had to get a head start, before he woke up and realized she was gone. Once she was in town she would be closer to the castle and someone could possibly help her if Khivar tried anything. Once she got to the castle she would be safe. Safe with her Mother and Father and Rath and Zan. They would protect her from him.

The night air was cold and her lungs felt like collapsing after she had been running about two miles. Her legs felt like jelly beneath her, but she knew she couldn’t stop. She had to keep going. She pushed herself another mile and thanked a higher power that she had been physically fit. Normally Princess weren’t athletic but Vilandra had been. Playing with 3 boys her whole life, she had to keep up with them.

Vilandra ran until she couldn’t run anymore. She dropped her bag and leaned over, trying to catch her breath. She knew she couldn’t stay in this place too long, he’d awaken to find her gone and come find her soon. Then she’d be in some real trouble.

Vilandra stood for about 5 minutes and then continued walking quickly until she was able to run again. She finally reached the town, it had taken her about 2 hours which was less than she had figured it would take, but she did run most of the way.

When she reached the town she continued running towards the castle, but it was still a long way. Her whole body ached from exhaustion and her lungs were burning. She stopped running again and took heavy breaths. Her eyelids involuntarily shut but she snapped them open. She had to stay awake, she had to keep running.

Vilandra tried to start running again, but her tired body couldn’t handle it. She collapsed in the middle of the town, and passed out.

* * *

Rath walked the streets up and down, hoping for a sign of Khivar. It had been two years since his murder of Catherine’s Father, and he hadn’t done anything since, but Zan was ready to give him what he deserved. Khivar had been hiding out pretty good, but Rath knew he had to come into town eventually and when he did, he’d be sorry.

Rath was about to give up for the night and head back to the castle when he saw a young girl collapse on the street. He rushed towards her, and knelt at her side.

“Vilandra!” He cried, recognizing the woman he was supposed to marry. He shook her gently trying to wake her up. “Vilandra! Wake up!”

Vilandra stired slowly but opened her eyes. “Rath… save me. Save me from him. He’ll kill me.” She said, barely able to whisper. She closed her eyes again.

Rath gathered her up in his arms and rushed back to the castle, Vilandra in his arms. He flew through the town, and finally reached the castle. He slammed open the door and rushed her upstairs to her bedroom. He ordered a servant girl to get the King and Queen and then told another to call a doctor.

The King and Queen, followed by Zan, Catherine, and Ianna rushed into the room a few moments later. Queen Reina sat next to her daughter and stroked her hair.

The doctor arrived a little while later and checked Vilandra for any injuries or sickness. It appeared that she was in ok health. She had a few bumps and bruises, but he said she’d be fine. He said her collapsion was probably from exhaustion.

The King thanked the doctor and saw him out, while Rath never left Vilandra’s side. He stroked her hair and held her hand. Ianna watched all of this from a distance, trying not to be jealous. Things had been over for a long time and though she still loved him more than her own life, she knew that he would be marrying Vilandra.

Ianna sulked back to her bedroom, not able to stomach anymore of Rath’s affection toward her sister. She laid down on her bed and stared at the ceiling. She heard someone enter and the door shut behind them, but she didn’t look up.

The weight on the bed shifted and there was a body laying next to her. It was Catherine.

“You ok?” Catherine asked her sister in law.

“I’ll live. I’m glad she’s ok.” Ianna said.

“But you’re upset because now Rath and her are going to get married and you are in love with him.”

Ianna sighed. “Catherine, I love him so much. He makes me feel… complete. Like when he’s not around, something’s missing.”

Catherine smiled. “I know what you mean, that’s how I feel about Zan.”

“Yes but you are lucky… Zan loves you back.”

Catherine faced Ianna and frowned. “Ianna, you know Rath loves you. It’s so completely obvious. He’s just doing his job. He’s doing what he has to. He puts duty and honor before his personal life. It’s how he is. You know that.”

“I know, I just wish… I wish that he could forget about his duty and his honor and realize how much it kills me to not be able to hold him or to kiss him. And I wish he wouldn’t avoid me.”

Catherine smiled slightly. “He avoids you for a reason. Because he can’t control himself when you are around. He feels the same way.”

“Really?” Ianna asked, a small glimmer of hope that maybe things would work out present in her eyes.

“Yeah… He loves you, you just have to let things follow their course. Eventually he’ll learn that you make your own destiny, maybe not in this lifetime, but you’ll be together one day.”

“I hope you’re right…” She mumbled.

“I am… I have a feeling that this is all just the beginning for all of us, like there’s something bigger out there. Something bigger that we are apart of, that we don’t even know.”

Part 17

Antar - The Palace - 4 Antarian years before the fall

Zan and Catherine sat curled up in front of the fireplace just enjoying being together. Things had been so hectic lately with Vilandra’s return, that the two had barely any time together. Zan stroked Catherine’s hair and she sighed happily, lying in his arms.

Zan’s and Catherine’s happy time was interrupted not long after it started, by Rath who rushed into the room.

"Rath, what is it?" Zan asked, getting up from his position on the floor.

Catherine looked irritated at their evening being interrupted.

"Zan…" Rath hesitated, "You father is dead."

* * *

Roswell, New Mexico - Michael’s Apartment - Saturday Night

"The King died of natural causes, he was just old, but the tragedy hit them hard. Vilandra, who had just gotten back, was so heartbroken at never making amends with her father, and Ianna was just sad. Zan however, was devastated, but hid it well, moving up to be king," Brody/Larek explained.

"Zan would cry at night," Liz said. She swallowed hard. "No one knew how close the two had become in the years before his death. Zan had learned to look up to his father, and they had come to a mutual understanding. Then he died and Zan felt so completely lost. He never told anyone, except Catherine."

"Obviously you are remembering more," Brody/Larek said.

Liz nodded her head. "I remember everything. From the minute I was born, to the minute I died. I remember everything."
Brody/Larek gave her a solemn look. "I’m sorry; I can’t imagine how hard that must be."

"Why does Liz remember and we don’t?" Tess asked, wanting her memories back.

"I’m not sure really. I didn’t think Liz would ever remember anything, because she didn’t gestate in the pods. Liz is completely human. She was born, unlike you four," he said, pointing to Max, Michael, Isabel, and Tess. "This is really jumping ahead a bit, but I suppose I should explain. I have a gift just like all of you. My gift is that I can hold someone’s essence inside of me. See, all people have a personality and an essence. When that person dies, I can touch them, trap their essence in my own body, and put it into something else. That’s how you were all created. I took your essences into my own body and created you anew. It was Zan’s idea from the beginning. Once Khivar started killing everyone, he came up with this plan. The plan was to send himself, Rath, Vilandra, and Catherine to Earth in the pods. But after all their deaths, the Queen decided to send Ava in Catherine’s place; creating the royal four as they were originally supposed to be, in hopes that Khivar wouldn’t come after you anymore."

"So then why am I here?" Liz asked.

"Zan wanted you to be here for him. He didn’t want you sent in a pod though. He wanted you to be completely human so that Khivar would have no chance of finding you. I came to Earth in 1983 and met a woman, Claudia Parker."

"You knew my grandma?" Liz smiled, remembering her.

"Very well, and she knew about all of you. Anyway, she told me her son and daughter-in-law were having a baby. It was perfect. I asked her to introduce me and she did. I asked your mother if I could feel you kick, and when I touched her stomach, I transferred Catherine’s essence into you, their baby girl."

"So Liz is completely human?" Tess asked.

"Yes, but her memories must be resurfacing because Max healed her. He awakened something in her and she’s going to eventually develop powers."

"Great." Liz muttered. "I’m never going to be out of this alien chaos."
The group looked taken aback at her comment, and Max was slightly hurt. That was when he made the mental decision to let her go. "Liz, I don’t want you to be trapped in this. You are human; you can have a life. You remember everything, there’s no story for you to hear. I think that you should go and do what you need to; do what’s going to make you happy. And if happy means being away from us and getting out of the ‘I know an Alien Club’, then go. It’ll be safer for you anyway. I just want you to be happy."

Liz was overwhelmed with emotion. He was setting her free; she could go on with her life and forget this part even existed. But was that what she wanted? Did she want out and away from Max? She loved him, there was no denying that. And the love she felt was ten times stronger as she remembered her life as Catherine. But was being with Max what was best for her and for everyone else?

"I think for right now, I want to stay and listen. I want to know what happened after my death."

"Ok… well let’s jump ahead again, we are getting very close to the end…"

* * *

Antar - The Palace - 2 Antarian years before the fall

Zan placed a hand upon Catherine’s stomach and smiled. She put her hand on top of his and kissed his cheek. "I think it’s a girl," she told him as they were lying in bed.

"It’s definitely a boy," he teased.

She shook her head and laughed. "Well I already painted the nursery pink so it better be a girl."

Zan leaned in and kissed her lightly on the lips. Catherine had just recently found out that she was going to have a baby and the couple was thrilled. Catherine was so excited. Zan was nervous because of the uprising rebellion and feared for the safety of his wife and his unborn child, but was happy nonetheless.

"What will we name her?" Catherine asked, resting her head in his lap. He stroked her hair gently. "Catherine," he said.

She laughed. "That’s my name! We can’t name her that."

"Why not? I think she should have the most beautiful name in the world and that’s Catherine. Because that’s your name and you are the most beautiful woman in the universe."

Catherine gushed; his charm always affected her, even now, four years after their marriage. "I suppose if it’s a boy, we could name him Zan."

"Nah, we’ll name him after my father."

"And if it‘s a girl, can we name her after my mother?" she asked hopefully.
He leaned down and kissed her forehead. "Of course."

"Edric and Faith," she smiled proudly.

"I never knew your mother’s name was Faith," Zan said.

"She was beautiful," Catherine told him. "She loved reading books, and planting flowers in this little garden in our backyard. At night, she would tell me stories of my father, because he wasn’t around a lot. He could only come for three months at a time you know, so she’d just tell me about him and everything he had told her about Antar. She loved him very much."

"How did she die?" Zan asked. Catherine never talked about her mother; he figured it was too painful.

Catherine winced. "She was sick. It’s called cancer on Earth. No one on Antar gets it, but that’s what she had. My father tried healing her, but he couldn’t. I think it hurt him to know he couldn’t help her."

"I’m sorry," he whispered.

"It’s ok. I miss her a lot, but I know she’s happy now, with my father."
Zan squeezed her hand and she smiled. "No more sad memories. We have our own little baby coming. Maybe it’ll be twins."

"Wouldn’t that be something?" Zan laughed.

"Zan," She said quietly.

"Yeah?"

"Promise me that we won’t force them to do anything. That they can marry whomever they want and they can live, as they want. Promise me they can have freedom. Promise me you’ll be a father to them, not a king."

"I promise." He sealed the promise with a soft kiss and fell asleep; holding her in his arms, feeling that this might be the last time.

Part 18

Antar - The Palace - The Next Day

Vilandra skipped happily into the castle. She had been free of Khivar for two years now and things were starting to look up for her. She had been growing close to Rath; the two were spending a lot of time together. He was always there, like her bodyguard. Sometimes, it bothered her, and she just wanted privacy; but usually she didn’t mind it. Although her love for Rath was nothing more than pure platonic love, they had decided they should take the path their parents had planned for them and eventually get married when they were both ready. They both knew that the time for their marriage was a long way off, agreeing it was for the best.

Vilandra turned the corner into the sitting room where Catherine was knitting. Vilandra laughed and sat down by her sister-in-law. "You know, the baby isn’t coming for like 6 months. Why are you already knitting things for it?"

"I’m excited, ok?" Catherine laughed. She put down the knitting and turned to Vilandra. "How are you doing today?" she asked.

"I’m good; I’m doing really well. Sometimes it’s hard, but… it’s getting easier."

Catherine smiled. "I’m glad to hear it. You went through a lot and I know you really loved him."

"Yes, I did. I know it’s been two years, but sometimes I still miss him." Vilandra admitted.

"I know. It’ll get easier."

"Thanks Catherine, I really appreciate you listening to me. I don’t really have anyone else to talk with. Ianna is mad at me because of Rath, and I never see Ava. I can’t very well talk to Zan about this."

"I understand," Catherine said.

Vilandra stood up and eyed Zan out the window. "Hey, there’s Zan in the courtyard right now."

"Oh! I’ll go out and see what he’s doing." Catherine started outside with Vilandra following her.

Zan and Rath were in the courtyard talking when Catherine and Vilandra spotted them. Catherine skipped happily over to Zan and kissed him on the cheek.

"Where were you all morning?" she asked.

"I was looking for Khivar. We got a tip that he was back in town, but we didn’t find him," Zan told her.

Vilandra frowned, knowing that capturing Khivar was Zan’s new goal. He wanted to capture him and kill him.

"We looked all over for hours," Rath told her, putting a hand on her shoulder.

"I don’t want you going out looking for him anymore. Let him come to us and when he does, you can get him. He’s not going to get in here, Zan. We have great security." Catherine said.

"Funny, you have such great security… and yet, here I am," the deep, cold voice said behind them.

The four turned quickly; ready to defend themselves, when they saw that Khivar had about a dozen men with him, all armed. Catherine clutched her stomach, knowing her unborn child was no longer safe.

"I’ve been waiting a long time for this, Zan." Khivar grinned. "And now I’ll successfully kill you and take your wife, your sister, and your crown."

"Why won’t you just leave us alone? Please, we’ve never done anything to you," Catherine cried out. Zan gently pushed Catherine behind Vilandra, trying to protect her and the baby; knowing full well that Vilandra could protect herself.

The four watched as anger flashed across Khivar’s face at Catherine’s outburst.

"I loved you, Catherine! We were to be married! We were going to be happy! But no! You left me for him!" He pointed at Zan. "I could have given you everything."

"You never loved her. You don’t know what love is," Vilandra yelled, her anger boiling to the surface.

Khivar laughed. "You have everything entirely wrong, Lonnie. It was you that I never loved. I always loved Catherine. You were just a pawn in my game. Something I used, but you were too stupid to see that."

Vilandra’s anger vanished, but heartbreak set in. She had loved him. No matter how badly he treated her, she loved him. Now he confirmed what she already knew; but it still killed her.

"Khivar, I suggest you take your men and leave before I kill you." Rath told her.

"I came to kill King Zan. I can’t just leave without achieving my goal. I’m not a quitter." Khivar pulled out a gun and pointed it at Zan.

Rath pointed his back at Khivar, and then all 12 soldiers pointed their guns. Rath looked around at his companions, knowing that they weren’t going to win this battle.

Catherine watched from behind Vilandra, trying to think of a plan. Something to get them out of this, but she couldn’t think of anything. They were trapped. The guards must have been killed so that no one would be alerted. Catherine shuddered at thinking how many other people in the castle were already dead. The Queen; Larek; Ianna. Ianna was Catherine’s best friend. If she was dead… Catherine pushed the thought from her head. She turned back to the scene. Khivar was pointing a gun! Khivar was pointing the gun at her husband, at the father of her unborn child! "Ready to die, Zan?" Khivar asked laughing.

Catherine saw the fear on Zan’s face. He turned towards her and gave her a solemn look, knowing that if Rath shot and killed Khivar, the rest of the small army would then attack. Catherine knew that Zan wouldn’t take the chance of Vilandra or Catherine getting hurt in the crossfire. So, he stood, ready to take his death like the proud king he was.

The whole scene took place in slow motion. All Khivar’s soldiers were pointing guns and Khivar had his ready to kill Zan. Rath held his in Khivar’s direction, waiting for the order to kill the bastard. Vilandra kept her place securely in front of Catherine.

Catherine heard the army cock their guns, ready to fire. She ran out from behind Vilandra and screamed. "No!" A gun fired at the commotion, and as Catherine put her arms around Zan’s neck, she felt a foreign object enter her body and she collapsed into his arms.

Zan clutched his wife, knowing full well the bullet had hit her. He touched her back and felt the warm blood seep into this hands. He looked into her light green eyes and saw her staring back at him. "Catherine…" he whispered.

He held her in his arms and knelt, laying her on the ground, not letting go. He heard thunder in the distance and felt a light rain on his back.

"Why did you do that?" he cried. "Why!?!?" He felt her back again. "Oh God, it‘s everywhere,” he said, referring to the blood.

Zan heard another gunshot and Khivar yelling in the background, but he paid no attention. He stroked Catherine’s hair.

"It’s ok, I don’t feel any pain," she told him weakly.

Tears streamed down Zan’s face. "You’re going to be fine. Vilandra will get the doctor. You‘ll be ok."

Catherine started to cry. "The baby!" she screamed in agony. "I killed the baby."

"No, it’s going to be fine! You and the baby will be fine," he lied, not able to comprehend really, what was happening.

Catherine coughed and Zan saw blood shoot onto her lips. "Zan… I’m dying. I know I am I can feel it." Zan saw blood start to seep out from underneath her. "Oh God, you’re losing too much blood," he cried. "Oh Catherine! I won‘t let you die! I can’t do anything, but the doctor will be here soon."

"You’re here. That’s all I need now; you’ll keep me safe."

"No, you can’t die. I won’t let you."

"Just hold me now, Zan. Just let it be. We can’t change it. Just lie here and hold me until I’m sleeping."

The rain was becoming so hard that Zan couldn’t tell the difference between his tears and the rain. Both he and Catherine were soaked, but he stayed with her, not able to let her go. Zan stroked her hair and whispered softly to her. "I love you so much. I’m so sorry." He kissed her forehead.

She reached her hand up and touched his cheek. "I love you, too."

He felt her body become limp and he pulled her into him.

"No!" He screamed.

Khivar watched as the bullet plunged into Catherine’s back. He turned his gun towards the soldier that shot her and yelled. "You stupid fool! Why did you kill her?" Khivar shot and killed the soldier.
He turned back to see Zan holding Catherine, crying over her and he started towards them.

Rath stood in front of him and put the gun up to his head. "Stay away from them. Haven’t you and your men done enough? Get out of here before I kill you myself."

Rath wouldn’t kill Khivar, knowing that he’d leave the pleasure to his best friend. Khivar and his army retreated, and Rath stood to watch the sight in front of him.

Ianna, the Queen, and Larek, hearing the gunshots, came running from the castle. Rath saw Ianna stop dead in her tracks, her hand covering her mouth, as she saw her best friend lying there, bleeding.

"No." Ianna whispered. She closed her eyes tightly, hoping that when she reopened them the sight would be gone. She spotted him watching her, and she ran into his arms. He pulled her as close as possible, as she cried loudly into his chest. He ran his fingers through her hair and kissed the top of her head, trying to comfort her.

Zan screamed, and Rath and Ianna turned back to the horrifying scene. Zan was rocking back and forth, holding Catherine, crying. Rath could tell that Catherine was dead from the way her body now just hung in his arms.

Ianna screamed and started crying again. Rath kept her closely to him; trying to provide some sort of solace to the girl he loved. Rath led Ianna away from the scene and into the castle. He led her up the stairs and into her room. She collapsed on her bed and sobbed loudly. Against his better judgment, he got next to her and held her tightly. She returned the gesture and threw her arms around him, burying her face in his neck. He held her all night, and let her cry.

Part 19A

Roswell, New Mexico - Michael’s Apartment - Dawn of Sunday Morning

Max and Liz held each other tightly as they cried. The group left them alone as Max started remembering details of his love’s death. It was a traumatic experience for the both of them, reliving the events of that fated day.

"I’m sorry. I just didn’t want you to get hurt," Liz said into his chest.

"I know. It’s ok," he whispered into her hair. "God, Liz, I love you so much. I…"

"I know. I love you, too. Spending the past 2 days reliving our life, the life we once had together….it’s just… it’s been so stressful."

"I know. I’m so sorry you’ve had to go through all of this. I never wanted this for you. I wanted you to have a normal life. Now I don’t know what kind of life you’ll have. You can still get out if you want."

"No!" she cried. "I can’t walk away from this now. Khivar is still out there. He still wants you dead."

"And if he finds out that you’re here… I don’t know what he’ll do to us," he told her.

Liz looked into his eyes. "We’re in this together now. That’s how it’s supposed to be."

"I can’t lose you again Liz! I can’t! If anything happened to you, I don’t know what I would do."

"Nothing is going to happen to me! You can protect me."

"I couldn’t protect you on Antar. You died in my arms."

Liz lifted up her shirt part way to reveal her abdomen. "You already saved me, Max. You already righted that wrong the day you healed me."

Max brushed his fingers lightly across the area where Liz had been shot. He then looked in her eyes and smiled slightly. She smiled back, he leaned in, and his lips gently brushed hers.

"Funny how it takes dying in a previous life to bring two lovers back together."

Max and Liz parted and smiled at Maria, who was leading the rest of the group back into the apartment.

"We decided we all need some sleep," Maria told them. "It’s like five in the morning."

"Oh goodie, I just love these little slumber parties at my house!" Michael said, sarcastically.

The group ignored him and settled in to sleep. Michael went into his bedroom and collapsed on the bed. Maria sat next to him.

"Michael."

"Hmm?" he asked, his eyes closed.

"If that Ianna chick comes back from Antar, are you going to like… be with her?" she asked seriously.

"MARIA!" He opened his eyes and looked at her, very agitated.

"What? I just want to know if I should prepare myself for you leaving me!"

Michael rolled his eyes. "Maria, it’s 5 in the morning. Why do we need to have this talk right now?"

"Fine, Spaceboy! Whatever!" Maria got up to leave but Michael pulled her back down. He didn’t say anything, but just pulled her to him and closed his eyes.

"Don’t think that this gets you off the hook! Tomorrow we’re gonna talk about this!" she told him.

"Mmmm, hmm…" he mumbled, and then fell asleep.

Roswell, New Mexico - Michael’s Apartment - Sunday afternoon

The group slept late into the day, extremely tired from the chaotic events of the night before. Max woke them all around noon. They all moaned about having to get up, but by one they were fully awake, wrapped in blankets and ready to hear the rest of the story.

"So what happens when Khivar finds Catherine? What happens to the rest of us?" Tess asked.

"Khivar thinks Catherine is dead. Khivar believes that only Ava, Zan, Vilandra, and Rath are on Earth," Larek told her.

"He thinks Catherine and Ianna are dead?" Liz asked. "He doesn’t know we are on Earth?"

"We? You mean Ianna is here? Great!" Maria said, rolling her eyes.

Liz looked at Larek. "I think we should tell them," she said.

He looked at her questionably. "How do you know Ianna is here?"

Liz smiled. "As soon as I got my memories back I knew. She is my best friend Larek."

"Wait! I’m your best friend Lizzie! Remember! Liz and Maria - human best friends forever!" Maria was getting upset knowing that Ianna was Catherine’s best friend as well as Rath’s lover.

Liz looked at Larek and bit her bottom lip. "Maria… um… you’re Ianna.”
