Chapter 20

Voices yawned. A loud barking noised thumped agent her head. Where was that coming from? Dark sinister shapes lumbered across dark hallways and she was floating. Her long hair stood on end and she felt someone touching her like she was waist deep in warm liquid.
She felt softness; like clouds surrounding her body and Liz felt a hand touch her hair. There were three dark shapes half emerged in the fog. Two with dark sounds like the base line of a cord and one high pitched scowl. Liz didn’t like that one.

The dark shape, with the high pitched scowl sprouted long golden roots like fireworks, or a flower emerging from its seed bursting out from the fogginess.
The dark shape became less grey and whiter with two small blue gems glistering inside a small circle. A small bud formed, and it was red in which the sound originated from. Liz didn’t like this at all. She wanted to stay emerged in the water where it was safe.

“Liz,” The high voice screeched. The voice sounded like a witch, a dark demon who resembled a siren in Greek mythology. What happened to the two base noises? Where were they?
“Liz, its going to be okay,” it was another high pitched voice, only this one was softer, like a blue bird singing. Liz liked this one. That blue bird voice had a nice friendly shape too. It wasn’t dark and sinister within the fog but it was a bright blue colour- it was loud and beautiful and stood out from the grey gas light fog.

“How long has she been like this?” The deep voice returned but it was the younger of the two. It was a tenor and not a base. His shape was huge and she could feel energy spark off like small raindrops. Liz felt woozy and her stomach rolled in never ending waves.
When would the spinning stop? Liz wondered.
“Max hasn’t arrived home from his shift yet,” a third high voice joined the group. This voice was full of concern with a hint of uneasiness. Isabel, Liz thought. Now she could put names to the voices. Maria was the blue bird and Tess; well it was no brainier why Liz hated the high whiny sound.
“I’m sure Max won’t mind us using his room,” The tenor voice spoke- Michael, Liz corrected herself.

This dark fog was Max’s room?
“What happened?” Maria asked.
Where are you? Liz tried to form the words but she was stuck in the fog and could only hear their voices.
“I went to the Crashdown to drop off some things and I went up stairs and found the whole apartment trashed –
“Oh my God, was it Kivar?”
“-With Liz on the floor out cold.” Michael finished, eyed Maria and said. “I don’t know,”
Liz’s head throbbed as she gently floated against the warm water.
“I wish Alex was here,” Isabel breathed but she seemed so far away.
Alex?
She felt coldness between her legs as invisible fingers brushed against her.

Liz convulsed. What ever that was she wanted it to go away. She wanted to stay inside her own bubble where she can breathe- be safe.
She closed her eyes and she felt herself flying until her two feet dug into white sand. Liz opened her eyes to find herself standing over a triangle shape with Tess and Ava facing her at the other ends. Liz saw a V shape glowing from inside her and immediately Tess and Ava vanished and were replaced with Max, only wearing long dark silk Indian pants. He smiled and whispered. “It was you,”
The scene changed. No longer were Max and Liz standing in the desert but laying against a rock formation gesturing out of crimson water. They hands interlocked. Mouths opened and clutching at each other clothes. She felt the coldness, yet again, between her legs. She dug her fingernails into Max’s skin but her hands froze at the foreign texture of his skin. Liz looked upwards and found Alex on top of her, smiling. “Hello, my love,”
She withered beneath him but his hands were sprawled against her hips. “Shh,” he cooed.
Kivar. The word exploded in her brain.
NO! Liz screamed. She tried to form the words but they had been sown shut. Kivar smiled and she saw his hand slide downwards. She arched her head upwards and began thrashing her head against the rock. She looked downwards and saw the red disappear underneath the amber desert sand. Liz side glanced to her left and found Max standing there.
Max! Her mind screamed. Max! His hands were inside her and she felt the vomit inside her throat as he moaned against his own pleasure of what he was doing to her. But Max remained where he was, and out of the darkness walked Tess. She smiled.

“He’s mine now,” She laughed and flicked out her tongue.
No you bitch! He’s mine, Liz thought with conviction. She rolled onto her stomach.
Kivar was gone, Alex was gone and Liz was left wearing a strapless white dress with high splits at the thighs.
She found Max and Tess sprawled on the ground, except Max wasn’t moving at all. Liz found Tess covering over him, making inhumane noises from her throat. She turned around and a piece of Max’s brain was hanging from her half open mouth. She closed her blood-red lips and Liz could see the ward of Max’s brain slide down her throat.
“He’s mine,” Tess screamed. “He’s mine, my own…. my precious.”
Okay, when did Lord of the Rings come into this? Liz thought. Maybe if I think hard enough I’d find Aragon and Legolas chained to a wall or something?
“Tess, cut the crap-”It was her voice. Liz turned around and found herself wearing black leather pants that black sweater that Tess always wore to expose her breasts. “The name is Havana,” Dream Liz said and fiercely cradled Tess’s head against her bosom and Liz saw Tess’s neck bone snap like a twig. Tess dropped to the ground. Dead.
“Accept your destiny,” The dream Liz said.
“Liz?” It was Max’s voice.
Liz turned around and the scene changed again, like sand piling from one side to another in an hourglass. Day became night, and Liz stood in the middle of the circle facing Max with a glowing healing stone in his hand.
“Liz. Liz. Liz.” Her name rolled from Max’s lips. Her faced flushed as she felt his warm skin against hers. Liz struggled to open her eyes. Max wiped the sleep from her eyes. He placed the healing stone on the floor before burying himself in her.
“You’re awake,” He said, relieved.
Liz felt his bed beneath her and she found herself in his strong embrace.
Accept your destiny, the words echoed in her mind.
So, she cradled herself beneath his chin and whispered. “I’m pregnant,”

Chapter 21

Tess felt lethargic. The smell of lavender pervaded around the room. She felt someone uniting the blindfold, and then, she saw Alex smiling at her.
Not Alex, she corrected. Kivar….
Her whole body ached and not matter how many times she changed clothes her shirts and pants stuck to her like second skin. Using a small napkin she wiped of another layer of moisture from her face and sighed.
“Please, take a seat,” Kivar implored His hand gave way to a dark marble table with six leather chairs. He pulled one out from her and she sunk down, every vertebrate in her body chided and she felt like she had no energy left. She saw a small plate of fruit, garlic bread and three bottles of Tabasco. However, Tess could only ogle at the food and endured her stomach rumble at the thought of food.

“I’ve lost a lot of blood today,” Tess whispered. Kivar sat down on the left and pulled in his seat. Her eyes were prickling hot and her throat clenched, the inner walls of her throat swelled.
“By the looks of it I’d say that you’ve lost a lot of blood,” He chuckled. Tess glared at him and she felt her self-convulsing with the thought that it was her fault that Kivar was here. If she hadn’t agreed with the notion of using Alex’s body as the vessel then none of this would have happened.
And I wouldn’t be like this either, Tess thought.
“So, how many cycles is it?” Kivar asked.
“Six times as month,” Tess replied. “It’s usually once a month but now… I can’t stop the flow.”
“Well, now that you say that,” Kivar clicked his fingers. A lady clad in black leather pants and a black-laced corset fluttered into the room. Her long blonde hair was clipped backwards and pilled into small coils behind her eyes. Her eyes showed no emotion; blank as marbles. Kivar jeered at his servant in a brusque manner, “Calypso, please bring three dark potato sacks and a white linen cloth.”
Calypso nodded and she sauntered out of the room and Kivar sniggered.
“Wh- was that-“
“I don’t want your blood on my leather chairs. They cost an arm and a leg!” He then eyed at her, the smile that Tess hated was always on his face when he stared at her breasts. “The white cloth is what you must wear… I’ve always been fascinated at the menstruation cycle and…I’d like to see you squirm.”
Kivar was demoralizing her, and she allowed it. But she had bigger fish to fry.
“So, there reason-”
Kivar was eating a strawberry and his gaze was anywhere but her. Tess fumed that he wasn’t paying attention. She was sick! Hybrids don’t get sick and he was her absolution! She gave him a body on earth in exchange for a cure! Where was his end of the bargain?
“Oh, I’m listening Tess,” Kivar continued to pick fruit off the table and eat.
“The reason I’m here is…that…I need another batch,” Tess meekly said, clutching a small vial in her hand. She ran out of the liquid Kivar called Q-T. Q-T balanced her system and prevented multiple seizures, irregular cycles and so forth. Q-T made her look and feel normal.
“Well, lil’ Lady that’s going to cost you,” Kivar waggled his finger in the air. “The scientists who have been experimenting Q-T on Ava’s comatose body don’t get paid on bread and water you know?” He rubbed his thumb and fingers together. “This goes beyond money,”

Calypso had returned with three potato sacks and a small see through skirt. Tess stood up and Calypso waved over the small blood pool on the seat and placed the three potato sacks down. She handed the skirt to Tess- it felt like warm silk against her fimble hands.
“Put it on, no underwear,” He instructed. Tess turned around and tensed her whole body. She would rather distract herself than fall apart in Kivar’s hands. She first stepped out of her slippers and slid them to one side. Next, she unbuttoned her loose cargos and slid them down until they too were a pool around her two legs. Then, blocking out all shouts of dignity she stripped off her six pairs of bleeding underwear. She kicked her clothes to one side and slid on the white lien cloth and tied the two straps together in a loose bow.
She crossed her legs together and brought herself around to face Kivar.
“Now, that wasn’t hard. Poppet” Kivar cooed and now stood in front of her.
“State your status on your mission.”
“I have been mind warping Max ever since I’ve arrived. No baby though.”
“Sir-” Kivar shouted. “You refer to me as your highness, or sir.”
Tess flinched, “Yes, your highness,”
Kivar’s face softened and his eyes began to explore her pale face. Tracing her eyebrows with a forefinger he whispered. “I’m a nice guy, you know? I eat? I work and I pay my taxes? I don’t understand why no body likes me?”
“No one likes me either,” Tess replied, hoping to get back with in his good gracious. I just need to get the Q-T, no matter what it takes.
“Correction, Tess. Someone did love you but you have also mind warped him that…even he believes the lies you placed in his mind,”
“Kyle,” Tess breathed. His flash flashed in her mind. Oh Kyle….
“But, you have always wanted Max,” Kivar said. “I know this…everyone knows this… So let me tell you something. You pay me by spending the night in my bed and home and then I give you the Q-T.”
She felt red liquid dribble down in a spiral motion around her clenched legs.
No, Tess thought. I have done many horrible things in my past for my mission. I want Max and I will make him love me but I won’t sleep with Kivar in Alex’s body.
“You know what Poppet?” Kivar sniggered. “My powers are getter stronger as my body draws near…would you reconsider if I looked like this?” He waved his hand around his face and he was Kyle, his dark blue eyes were shining at her.
“Tess,” He said. Even his voice sounded like Kyle. “Or…maybe…this.” Blue eyes turned to molten amber and his dark brown hair melted into black until Max’s face was staring at her. It was Max! No! it was Kivar.Even the smell of Max filled her senses.
“Tess,” He breathed. He sounded like Max. “Ever since you have walked into my life I felt like something was missing…that is … until … I placed my hand in yours,” His hand cupped her cheeks. “I won’t feel whole unless I make love to you Tess…” His eyes searched her, he touched her cheek and she could feel his breath on her face. “I love you Tess,”
It wasn’t Max. Tess slid her arms around him. It’s not Max. He clicked his fingers and they were bathed in candlelight. There was a bed behind them with dark velvet sheets and red roses were like vines around the Iron bedposts.
“Do you want me?” He whispered against her ear.
It’s not Max but everything inside her told her to pretend. As long as Liz was around She was second best. Unless she convinced Kivar that they needed to murder Liz in order for Tess to get Max…the idea formed inside her head.
“Yes,” She replied and kissed his lips. It’s not Max…
She fell on the bed and blacked out and allowed Kivar to have his way. If that’s what it took sooner or later it will be Max saying those words to her. Not Liz.

Chapter 22

After Tess left for home Isabel, Kyle, Maria and Michael sat around in the Evans’s lounge room discussing movies. Each one of them in turn glanced over to the closed bedroom door. Thinking what could be happening behind there. Was Liz awake? did Kivar really attack her? But all their questions were bottled up and replaced with mindless chitchat.
“Why don’t people just cut his head off?”
“Jason never dies, he’s been revived so many-“
“Yeah, but what if they chopped him into little pieces and placed every portion of him in different sections of Earth. What about that Space boy?”
“Still wouldn’t work,” Kyle joined their conversation.
Isabel kept side glancing to Max’s bedroom door. “Well Maria” She turned her head around to face them, and sat on the couch opposite Michael, Maria and Kyle. “I haven’t seen any of the Jason movies. How about we head over to the video store, rent some movies and crash at Michael’s house for the night?”
Fresh tears began to seep from Maria’s eyes. “I’m not leaving my friend-”
“My brother would call us if anything happened?” Isabel said. Truth was, she didn’t want to stay in the same house as her brother. Yes, she was trying to trust him again but they really haven’t talked about any of it. Apart of her didn’t want to trust him but Max was her brother. Only right now he was currently using a healing stone to find Liz in her battered body. He would need no one in the house in order to fully concentrate on healing Liz. Isabel also felt that they too should have some privacy and heal the wounds that they’ve sliced in each other’s hearts. Michael must’ve caught onto Isabel’s thinking and turned to Maria. “We could rent the first three Jason movies. Candy man, silence of the Lambs…Spaceballs, Braveheart.”
“Don’t skip on the popcorn,” Kyle hollered. He was already heading towards his red mustang. Michael helped Maria get off the chair, her long wavy blonde hair jostled like the waves in the ocean. She saw someone stand behind Maria, placing his hands atop Michael’s. A dark hood hanged over his head but she could see his pale alluring face and deep sea green eyes.
His face was an ashen white blue and the dark blue hood draped over his eyebrows and covered half of his right eye.
‘Alex’ Isabel breathed to herself.
“Isabel! We don’t have all day!” Michael yelled
No we don’t, Isabel thought as she quickly left the house. I’ve got to stop hallucinating about Alex, stop feeling Alex’s presence or smell his scent all over Liz’s body.
Maybe watching some videos might do all of us some good, Isabel thought. Its not like Max is going to have some breakthrough or anything?

##
Shit, Liz thought. Did I just say that out loud?
“You’re pregnant?” Max placed his hand on her slightly protruding stomach.
“Uh…yeah…but I don’t think that’s the-”
“You’re pregnant?” Max was still had her in his arms. He slowly let go but only to allow an inch of space between them.
Great, Liz thought. Not only did I announce that I was pregnant but now I have to explain with his intoxicating scent radiating from his body.
“Well…I guess I should start with-”
Max’s lips fused against her and his tongue sought out hers, she breathed in sharply and pulled him closer.
No, they should be talking, Liz said to herself as she felt Max lift her upwards and onto his lap. She could already feel the hardness of his that sent a molten fire in her loins. This wasn’t the time for one of their ‘talk and sex’ talks. Wait a second….where was her shirt? She felt his hands unclasp her bra and quickly stopped his shaking hands with her own. She saw the same desire she had in his eyes. She remembered that shade of dark amber…he was like a caged animal. The kind that remembers the thrill of the hunt and waits as his lust builds from within. She had to put a stop to this, if only her body would cooperate and hadn’t started rubbing her hips against his as if she was trying to wipe away an imaginary stain all over her body. It didn’t help either that her hands were fumbling to unbutton his shirt.
“When …”He gasped as her lips sucked on his neck. She couldn’t help it. She saw his neck and her blood boiled, the smooth exterior of his skin was like ice cream and mouth salivated at the though of sucking it.
“Well it was a number of places but if I could say… I guess it was this whole house that created Charn.”
“Charn?” He quizzed, nipped her left ear. Liz could feel herself burning up. “Max…”
“Hmmph?” His lips were biting her neck; it felt raw and was throbbing like he was sucking the life out of her.
“We n-need t-to ss-t-op.” Liz stuttered. But is felt so good to feel his warm hands on her again. She shivered as he turned her around and pressed her back against his chest.
“Shh,” He whispered and his hands slowly slid down the white straps from her bare shoulders and Liz felt his warm mouth sucking a small trail from the bottom of her ear and down to her left shoulder. The whole time his dark eyes were burning into hers and Liz moaned. This isn’t good, why did he have to be so fucking gorgeous?
The pain radiated from within the core until her legs began to kick within the confines of her jeans. She felt his right hand resting on the perch of her right shoulder, anchoring her in place. She felt her throat burning from the noises she began to moan.
Her breasts began to throb. The pain, Liz thought. It’s too much. But it was good pain; the kind of pain that if not controlled could get out of hand.
“M-ax,” Liz breathed, she slid his right hand down her stomach, unclipping her jean buttons in the process and shoved his hand underneath her pants. “Make the pain ss-top,” She heard him grunting, pushing his fingers inside her. Her behind began to burn from the rash she gave herself from rubbing too hard into Max. His hand froze against her curls. He was just an inch away, Liz thought. What was wrong with him? Why did he stop? He stopped kissing her as if he was in shock? It’s a clitoris, Liz thought. You’ve seen it before so don’t be shy, I have been through alot of shit and I deserve this.

“Liz, stay still for a sec,’ it was like a hoarse whisper. He slid from behind her and drew back his right hand from her pants and Liz rubbed her forearms from the cold. Why was it suddenly cold? Why isn’t Max inside her? She rubbed her eyes and for a second, Liz swore she saw blood dripping from Max’s fingers.
So, Liz moved her heavy body and backed herself against his pillows. Why am I so tired? She felt her body go numb and saw Max’s face turn white.
“Liz, just breathe,” He crouched at the end of the bed and began to slide off her jeans.
I am breathing, Liz thought. This is getting ridiculous, I know that what he is going to do will be the most pleasurable experience but there is no need for the build up.
“I thought I put on white panties,” Liz stared at her red underwear. That’s odd, I don’t own any red underwear. Did I change the colour without noticing?
Max used his forefingers to peel off her underwear, revealing a silk bed of red curls.
Drenched in blood, Liz realised.
“It’s going to be okay. Just breathe,” Max hands touched her curls and pulled back the flaps. Liz shivered as the cold air brushed against her inner thighs. Liz saw blood began to gush into his hands and soak onto his sheets.
A green light eerily glowed from his hands, casting shadows across his face and she felt him go inside.
His fingers were like a healing balm, cooling her inner walls as he went further inside.
Something sharp from inside pierced her walls and she screamed. The pain she was feeling was not pleasurable pain as she once thought but menace. The burning pain was from a foreign object inside her.

Max gritted his teeth. “Grab onto something, this is going to hurt.”
It was like no other pain that Liz had experienced before. It was worse than fire. Tiny needles were eating at her flesh like acid, jabbing and squeezing and twisting in endless waves as Max was slowing pulling something sharp from inside her. The object was sharp and it rubbed against her skin, ripping it into shreds, every blood vessel oozed its insides and travelled from with in and down her legs. She was in a sphere of pain.

From the blurred vision of tears Liz saw the sharp edge that Max slowly pulled out from her like a rope. It was not smooth but uneven and rough in shape. It was a piece of glass, one metre in length and resembled a lightning bolt. It disintegrated in Max’s hands and his hands were on her curls again. Kivar must've placed it in when he....
“Look at me.” Max said
It was harder to keep her eyes open but she did. That is when the faint connection between them opened itself, revealing everything Liz had experienced in the past three months.

She turned to Kyle, Michael and Maria. “Something happened to Alex. And I’m going to find out,”

*
Jim leaned forward.. “Since you are already eighteen. You are considered an adult. But, there will be a meeting with your parent’s lawyer…their will.”
“Uh huh,” Liz nodded; shutting down the last shreds of her emotions How was this fair? She gave up everything, and now her parents were dead.
*
“Milton?” She said.
He still had his fuzzy red hair but something was wrong. He was less-well, less spectacular if you get what I mean, Liz thought.
“Liz,” He handed her a bunch of white roses. “I am so sorry for your loss,”
“Go figure,” Liz said. She felt nothing. Too much bad things happened to her. Issues about death start to roll of her back like Teflon.
“But, I came for different reasons,” He handed her a metallic book with rusty opal bind rings.
As Liz took the book it felt a little heavy like a small dictionary. “What in the world,” Her eyes looked upon her own reflection of herself. She was surrounded by alien symbols, and levitating inside the granolith.
“I believe that this is one page, missing out of a book. But the question is. Where is the book?”
“Where did you find this?” Liz said.

“In Egypt- the Valley of the kings” Milton replied. “Most of us are baffled by this, we believe its some kind of prophecy,”
Liz paced it in her black book bag. “I’ll have a look at it,”
“I’ll be here for a while. Visiting a coupe of friends, I just wanted you to know that the aliens have a plan for you. A exciting plan, this could be a close step to real contact,”
Milton turned and as he exited he said. “I always knew that you were special,”

*

Yeah, But you mean something to me,” Max said. “When we slept together, it hurt. I heard you cry in pain. It was your first time…wasn’t it?” He griped her on her arm.
“Let go of me,” Liz cried out in the searing pain that radiated heat form her arm. It felt like she spilled hot coffee all over her skin. She could feel the rough shiny blisters pulsate upwards and explode into a white puss fountain, cooling her dry scorched skin. Max looked down and found his hard grip had caused to stop the circulation in her arm. A bluish tint was beginning to emerge. Max Slowly unwrapped his fingers from her arm. Liz breathed a sigh from relief. From the searing physical pain but also the emotional pain caused by his touch.

Shit, Liz thought. No matter what happened Liz felt nothing but Max’s words like tiny prin prick that poked through her bubble of nothingness. It hurt.
*
“Is this Liz Parker,” It was the Swedish embassy.
“Yes?”
“That building you wanted to talk about. I’m sorry but that building was torn down ten years ago,”
Liz clicked the phone off. Alex never went to Sweden. She turned around and the small airplane dawned on her. Something in her stomach heaved, Liz clutched her stomach, and it was tremendous pain. Tiny icicles inserted and stabbed into her brain matter. Her throat swelled up and her head buzzed until something happened, and the plane exploded into a sea of fire right in front of her. The fire licked at her body and everything went black.

*

“The name is Kal Langley. Is Charn okay?” He asked.
“Charn… who?” Liz said. Who the hell was Charn?

*

There, scorched on the middle of Isabel chest was a silver handprint. Max’s Handprint Her skin was charred and cracked like the desert floor. It was like someone had placed a soldering iron to Isabel’s chest.
“Seeing is believing Elizabeth,”

*

All this I thought he hated me. But in realty Tess was mind warping him. And what about Isabel? Hot bile rose from her throat in anger. She was going to kill Tess. But no, first she had to go and tell Isabel the next day. For now she had to focus on Max.

*
She bit on her lower lip to keep her from screaming.
Then, the pain stopped. It was still there, but only mildly throbbing.
She felt her lip bleeding but then she felt it warm up and then the pain disappeared, healed. Liz touched her lower lip and felt the soft almost rubbery texture of her parted lips. Her lip was healed

*
Queen Havana Dvorjyka from the house of Mava. Zan called her Ava for short,” Kal chuckled.

-
“ Before time was time our Ancestors prophesied that a boy born from a sired and her King from the Golden age that will end the world,”
“Huh?” was Liz’s reply.
“Okay, I see that you are still using ten percent of your brain. Plain English. You are carrying a child that will end the world. He’s too powerful. A sired means that you have been initiated, or, changed into an alien like Max. But his counter part. His Queen to match his alien status since your human sides have already reached a level that no can break. It like that you both have half of the indigents to create an A-Bomb.”
“So,” Liz voice wavered. “Our…my child is not meant to be?”

“It is,” Kal said. “Okay, everyone believes that the world will end. The sun would eat up the earth or a huge earthquake. Well, it happens that the End of the world is caused when your son take his first breath. Already he is using his powers to prepare you and everything and everyone for his arrival,”
“Maria,” Liz said. “ He is making them have flashes,”
Kal nodded in approval.“ Charn probably sees something you don’t. He has both of your powers, just much more stronger,”
“Powers?” Liz quizzed, and then said after a beat. “I have powers?”
“Yes, and many considering you are Queen. One is premonition but who knows?”

How do you know about my powers?” Liz asked.
“I’m your protector. It’s my job,”
“I feel sorry for you-”
“Don’t be,”
“How come I’m Queen?”
“It happened February 2000.”
“The orbs?” Liz replied. She thought about the intensity of what she felt when Max was around. She could still remember the feelings of bubbly giddiness that fluttered throughout her body whenever Max touched her.
Kal nodded. “The whole glowing process was when he passed his queen seal over to you. But it has already been ordained that you would be the mother of the destroyer,”

“So, what’s the point then?” If she was meant to end the world then why is she still breathing? No, she couldn’t think that, not after everything she went through…
Kal only replied. “ Because all that is rubbish. Except the destroyer part. Okay, what I mean is that the prophesy about your son ending the world. It’s not true.”
“How do you-”
“A-ba-ba-ba” Kal held up his hand to silence her. “Well, back before time was time King Xenoliths of Antar ordered the squire to write down the prophecy that the Gods had told him through the prophet Owen. But before anyone knew about the prophecy the King was murdered by Shi-ja-ju, a rebel from the east. So, the squires erased all proof of the prophecy and wrote a false one to protect what ever the message was. It must have been important though.
“Where does this all lead? That doesn’t make any sense” Liz butted in. Why would Shaju, or whatever his name was, murder the King over a prophecy? What was Kal not telling her? Kal ignored her and continued on with his explanation.
“The squires formed a sacred Order and placed a holographic message for the Mother of the Destroyer and passed down the information through word of mouth. My ancestors were the squires while Zan’s was the King’s and the rebel is the Skin’s demi god and Kivar’s ancestor. Which explains why everyone is afraid of him. He possesses god like powers,”
“So, where is the holographic message?”
“It’s the orb,’ Kal replied.
“But I thought that the orbs communicated with the home planet? Nasdeo said so,”
“Well, together they do. But the one you and Max found has the message you need to hear about the Fate of your son’s destiny,” then Kal added. “Also the identity of the mother of the destroyer, the sired was vague but bared the mark of the King. But that information is word of mouth,” except the word of mouth also said that it was destined that Havana was going to be the mother of the destroyer, and Tess isn’t the one pregnant one here, he added silently.
“So what does the fake prophecy say?” Liz gestured her hands up in the air. “That Max is a Hippo and I’m a Zebra?” Liz made exclamation marks in the air like Dr Evil,

Kal scratched his head. “Like I said before your presence is uncanny…”He glared at her. “For being the next Queen your acting a bit childish,”.

“It says that the king from the golden age and the sired will produce a child called Charn, the destroyer, who will end all life as we know it,”
Kal called after to her. “If you need me. Don’t worry, your son will know what to do,”

*

“No I don’t want any children anytime soon,” Max replied.
That was a low blow; Liz placed her hands on her abdomen and closed her eyes. Biting her lips to keep from crying out.

*
Liz froze, turned around and laughed. “Out of all the aliens in the world I never expected you, of all people, to be one of them,”
“Things can surprise you,” She replied, touching her long billowing red hair as her blue silver eyes blazed. “I’m Pam Troy. Queen Bitch of Roswell. Why wouldn’t I be?”

*
“Ye-yes,” Liz fumbled. “But you are not Alex,”
The Alex-thing placed her hands on her table. “I am Alex, in a way but…”His eyes darkened until it became black obsidian. “Alex is not in the driving seat,”
Her eyes widened in shock. “Kivar” she spat out.
He giggled like a little child. As if this guessing game was amusing to him. “Yeah, how did you know?”
-
“Oh God,” He moaned and his fingers dipped inside her. Liz screamed against him. She felt herself burning sear her flesh and her fine hairs as he continued to dip in and outside her.

“When the royal four were created each alien, this means, Rath, Valandra, Zan and Havana had two human subjects that were chosen because the process of hybridisation was compatible cos-.” Serena smiled. “O-kay moving along shall we? Hybridisation is when you take a segment of DNA from each species and mix them together to see how –they are related. Humans of course say that there are spaces in the new DNA strand because the amino acids, such as Guanine and Adenine don’t fit. Anyway we have discovered, say, a type of chemical in the gandarium that has rectified the problem. Making the new DNA strand have fewer gaps…. Anyway if one human subject, lets call them A and B shall we? If subject A’s DNA is more compatible than subject B, then subject B is eliminated and the body discarded. Okay, so far, only one human DNA is compatible with Rath, Zan and Valandra. So the other human host’s, who’s DNA wasn’t a compatible match were eliminated….”

“But when it came to Havana this is caused an anomaly. Not one, but three Havana’s were created. You were the anomaly. Subject A had resulted in one Havana being full alien, you know her as Tess, and the second, a balance between alien and Human, you know her as Ava. While, subject B produced a fully Human Havana- you, Liz.” Serna lifted her hands in the air. “The scientists were baffled. They had no time to investigate this unusual outcome because of the war that still existed while they created the royal four. So, they did what they could do. They inserted Tess and Ava into their respective alien incubators because of their alien side the incubation pods could give them enough nourishment until –they hatched. But with you, they could not put you in an alien incubation pod because you were fully human. The alien incubator couldn’t give you the correct nourishment until full term. They had no time to eliminate you, so, they placed you in a human womb. Nancy Parker.”
…..

“When the true Havana is chosen. That’s you. The other two will be eliminated. “It has already begun. The chemical acts like a virus and cannot be stopped. It’s slowly breaks through and infects very cell of their bodies until they can no longer go on,”
Liz breathed in. “So, you’re saying that Tess and Ava are going to die?”
“Yes.”

*
White spots consumed her vision but then faded to reveal Max cowering over her, his face masked with worry as his fingers traced over her face. “Liz,” he said.
“Shh,” Liz placed her forefinger on his lips. “I know,”
She saw the flashes he saw. Max knows everything she knows.
She felt no wetness from her inner thighs and smiled when she faintly saw that he healed her and dried her panties and changed the colour to blue.
“I love you Havana,” He kissed her forehead and resumed he previous position before things got heated. It felt strange to hear that name on his lips but Liz knew that it was her true name. She was his destined mate. Nothing could change that.
“No one must no about this,” Liz whispered. “I don’t want anyone to be in danger.” She turned around to face him, touching his face in the dark with only the moonlight giving a slight glow to his exterior. “I love you, and Maria, Michael and Isabel but I don’t want to put them in danger.”
“Isabel,” He cracked. “I hurt Isabel,” tears were pooling from his bloodshot eyes.
“No you didn’t!” Liz reminded Max, showering him with kisses. “Tess did. Isabel knows that you weren’t yourself. You can tell her that you were mind warped by Tess but nothing else! For all we know Tess could be working for the enemy. We must not let her get suspicious”
He reached for her hand and rubbed it soothingly.
“I don’t want to put anyone in danger.” Liz whispered. “We need to keep this a secret until we know its safe-“
“I think it will be hard to keep our child a secret,” He touched her swollen stomach. “My child,” He added silently. “A son,”
Liz blushed. “I know,” smiling but then it quickly fell, “You must understand-”
“I do,” Max interrupted. “I know that the destiny of our son states ‘Charn will end the world’ but its wrong. We must find the correct translation.” He stared at her. “We need to talk to Serena,” pulling her closer, he kissed her and she breathed into the kiss. Liz felt his love for her and his son flow through their connection. “I need to see her.”
“Serena,” Liz breathed. “Oh God no! Kivar knocked her out-”
There was a knock on Max’s window. They flinched and he pulled her closer. He gave her a look to be quiet as he crept to the dark curtains.
His left hand was on the hem of the curtain while his right was ready to put up a shield. Liz could feel his energy crackled between his fingertips.
He drew back the curtains and his green shield flashed in front of his window.
“Keep your socks on!” the girl cried. Behind Max’s green shield was the reflection of Serena with a bloody scar on her forehead. “You called,” she joked.
Max drew back his shield and Serena climbed inside. Once through Max sealed the entrance to his room from the door and the window, turning the clear glass into black coloured steel.
“In all my life this is by far…strange,” Max said, staring at Pam Troy. She was wearing a pair of black jeans and a deep purple Singlet top with a light blue bra underneath. “My father has taught me many things in battle,” she smiled. “Including the age old thing of bolting when the enemy has turned its back,” She eyed Liz and sniggered. “Did I catch you at the wrong time Max?” pointing to Liz only in blue underwear “Do you need lessons in foreplay?”
Max clenched his jaw and pulled at Serena’s hair and yanked her to the ground with such force Liz flinched at Serena’s throttle cry. “Sorry,”
Max let go and handed Liz his old gym shirt while he pulled on a V-neck black sweater and slid back on his jeans.
Damn, Liz thought. I am going to miss staring at his strong legs.
Serena was mending her hair as she sat on the computer chair.
“How did you know that we needed to talk to you?” Liz asked as she got underneath Max’s blanket. Max stood beside her with his arms crossed in a protective matter. Max obviously didn’t like Serena from her last comment.
“I knew that it was wrong of me to leave you with Kivar so I returned only to see Michael bring you back here. I waited until the others left and crept through the back.” Serena crossed her arms. “What did you want to know?”
“How much danger are Liz and I in?” Max asked.
Serena rolled her eyes. “Currently…medium danger. If anyone else knows then I guess its like being in a room full of mousetraps. I’d say very much in danger,”
Max thought for a moment and even though Liz couldn’t read minds she knew he was making a hard decision.
Something that was going to create change, Liz thought.
“We need to get Liz out of here, ”He said. “Where is the safest place that no harm can come to her?”
“Max-“Liz cried. “Don’t you remember what Kivar-”
“I know what Kivar said and frankly I don’t give a rats-”
“You have to remember that what Kivar did to me he is still Alex-”
“I know that! -”
“How do you think he feels right now? Huh?” Liz cried, picturing her friend Alex being controlled by that vile man.
“Liz, I know what the stakes are but you must remember that I want you to be safe.”
“Liz, I agree with Max,” Serena said.
“I promise that I will do everything in my power to free Alex.” Max pleaded.
“But you are carrying the heir to Antar. You must be protected at all times.” Serena told her. “And I know just the place,”
Liz crossed her arms. “Where?”
Serena shrugged. “Czech-republic. Prague to be exact- well in the country side.”
“What?” They both said, Max sat next to Liz and slid his arm around her in comfort.
“There is a château owned by the house of Avon where Queen Isis and King Pieces reside with fifty maids. Liz would be under the most finest medical treatment and will be guarded at all times.”
“Avon,” Max breathed. “The name seems familiar,”
“It should be.” Serena replied. “It’s your house and Isis is your mother, Max.”
“ My mother?” Max said.
“King Pieces is Liz’s father.” Serena said in a matter of faculty. “It will take me two weeks but if successful you will both have to leave on the night of end of term” Serena cringed at her weird words. “Not next Friday but the week after,” she amended
“After graduation,” Liz said to herself. If Serena were successful Max and herself would leave straight after the graduation ceremony.
“Its up to you both,”
Max turned to Liz and she knew he had already made the decision. She only hoped that this decision wouldn’t cause more danger for her friends.
“Do it,” he said.
“As you wish, your highness,” Serena bowed. “Your majesty,” She bowed again to Liz. “I’ll make arrangements for you two to leave in two weeks. May Amon protect us all,”

Chapter 23 A

Although Max didn’t want to leave Liz alone he had to speak with Serena.
“I’ll be back in a sec” He kissed her forehead; smoothing out the wrinkles form her forehead. She seemed so fragile as he watched Liz drift off. With sidelong eyes he felt a pang of remorse that he couldn’t take away her experience from a couple of hours ago.
How dare he, Max thought. How dare he do such a thing to her? Did Kivar take pleasure from inflecting pain on others, mounting his enjoyment? Through the faint connection that had reopened between them he could see blurred images from her subconscious.

Emerald, jade, bottle green, verdant, green, different shades shined the same contemptuous pleasure, giving beams of hot light around the contours of Liz’s naked body as spiders crawled between her thighs. Every vine shaped slime-covered-hair slithered against her cold skin as if her ghastly trembles and screams gave energy and vigor for the spidery pencil thin fingers to dig deeper into her warm flesh.
Her skin felt soft as a rag doll, smooth as silk and rough as leather as his hands rubbed hard to see her skin turn red from carpet burn.
Her brown eyes were no longer a deep endless chocolate river but thinned out and reflected a sickly yellow. They were wide and frozen in place, she knew that she had no power and there was nothing she could do that would make him stop.
“Yes,” He cackled, towering over her, smiling away as she continued to shake her head, mutely cry in vain.
No, Max thought as he watched Kivar touching her. Don’t touch her.

Kivar's hands snaked around her things, like clamps pushing them outwards and he could see the tormentors canine teeth covered in saliva. Kivar was salivating at the open cavity that he shoved open- snap! Liz screamed as Kivar broke her pelvis bone from stretching her legs widely open that they were one straight line at opposite ends.
DON”T TOUCH HER! He screamed. But to no avail. Kivar laughed in response and a loud squishing noise from her thighs bones filled his ears as they were ripped from their meat sockets. The sound vibrated around the room as Max watched in horror as Kivar popped Liz’s legs from their sockets- they lay limp and dropped down, stretching her pale skin like rubber.
STOP! Max screamed.
Kivar began to unbuckle his tan leather belt.
STOP! Max screamed. He was in the corner of the room. The colour dimmed and everything reflected a pale blue. Kivar pale blue fingertips were in his black mouth, he was licking Liz’s blood like raspberries. The scene started to fade away like ripples in the water.
STOP!!! He cried out, his anger turned to flames and he strucks out his hand. Red streamed out of his hand and a wall of Fire was hurled at Kivar.
Kivar turned around; his body crouched over Liz’s limp form. It was Alex, his eyes brimmed with tears.
“Kill me, “He whispered.

“Bad daydream,” Serena hover over him with a cold washcloth in hand and a small bowl with water on the kitchen floor next to her.
Max shook his head. Where was he? What had happened?
“Actually,” As if Serena was reading his thoughts, “Since you and Liz are connected if you concentrate hard enough you can travel in each other’s sub-conscious,”
“You- mean” Flickering his half opened eyes around the room. “I can dream walk her?”
“Not exactly. It’s like dream walking, only you dig much, much deeper. Judging form your expression I guess you ventured into something that Liz had trouble…figuring out while she was awake,”
Max only nodded. So, everything he had experienced was from the deep inner workings of Liz’s mind? “How, did we…”He titled his head around the kitchen. Last time he remembered he was looking at Liz and as he headed down the hallway he was reminiscing about her sleeping and everything she had gone through…
“You were sleep walking down the hallway, mumbling under your breath. By the time we reached the kitchen you were on the floor, screaming,”
“Oh-”He felt suddenly embarrassed but it seemed Serena didn’t mind, her face looked sullen and her facial expression was grim.
“Look,” Serena handed Max the washcloth and sat next to him, leaning her back against the kitchen bench with her knees tucked underneath her arms. Her blue eyes wavered on the ground before staring at his, suddenly serious. “When Kivar possess people, its usually short term-”

Serena waved her hand in the air. “The reason why Kivar needed a vessel is to set his ground work before his actual body arrives here.” She pointed to ground, representing, here, meaning Earth. “But there is a flaw with having Alex as a Vessel. The fact is- he’s dead to the whole world. Kivar can’t venture out into the world at his own digression.” Serena smirked. “That’s why Nicolas is important to him. Even though he is a squirt, he will do Kivar’s evil bidding. So, for now, Kivar is in the shadows but once his body arrives…” Serena face turned pale….as if saying these words might jinx the outcome of the future. “There is no telling of what evil he will do. How many people, Human or Alien he will kill until he gets what he wants.” Serena tucked a loose curl underneath her ear. “The only people who know his true form are either dead. Or-” Looking at Max, “Can no longer remember.”
“What does this have to do with Alex?”
“When Kivar possesses people, he uses a lot of energy. So, although in Alex’s form he is still weak – not in his Ra form. Which means this, Max, and I know that this is not what anyone wants to hear- or wants to even think about it but” Serena sighed.“Alex is far gone. Kivar has manipulated him so far that there might be..nothing left. The only chance of saving Alex is by killing him-”
“Whadda mean? Killing him” Max raised his voice in panic. Killing Alex? Acid churned around his stomach.
Serena touched his shoulder in mild comfort. “He is the vessel. By killing Alex, you kill Kivar before he reaches his Ra form and believe me, if you hate what he has done to Liz. You’re not going to like the idea that every time Liz goes out, with your child, Kivar could be anywhere, in any form, at any time. So, the solutions are limited.”
“So, WHAT? You’re telling me that I have to kill my best friend in order to-“
“That’s what a leader does Max, makes the hard decisions-"
“That doesn’t involve murdering the people I care about-"
“Think about Alex? Its better than the alternative? He’s trapped forever in his own mind while Kivar rapes, and murders people for the sheer thrill. By killing him, you’re setting Alex free. Kivar is a threat to Liz and to everyone, the whole race, Earth, Antar-"
“I Know that,” Max clenched his teeth, turning to Serena, glaring at her as his anger simmered around him. “I know what needs to be done, and believe me, I know the stakes. But-" Max breathed in slowly to calm down his anger, remorse, nauseousness over the thought of…“It doesn’t include killing Alex,”
“Fine, whatever,” Serena shrugged. “Whatever, your highness,” Serena stood up and looked down at him. She arched her eyebrows. “I just hope you can live with yourself. Knowing that by refusing to be a man and do what is right that you are costing a lot of innocent lives,” Serena lifted her finger and pointed towards his room. “Including your unborn child. Regardless that it says that Charn may or may not End the World. You are putting his life, and Liz’s life in danger,”

It’s amazing that a clear milky substance can hold your salvation in the palm of your hands. Or a vial, Tess corrected herself as she blindly fumbled her keys to open the front door. She entered an empty house; there were no faint sounds of Jim snoring or the sounds of the WWF from the portable T.V in the den.
Thank God, she thought. The small steel lunch box held fifty vials with the milky liquid that would balance her system- she placed that box on the lounge table next to her keys with fluffy pink Pom poms.
She placed her keys on the lounge table and dropped her knapsack. She sat down and gleefully remembered the small green vial that Kivar handed her after she paid her bill.
It looks like green jelly but it affective in what it does, Tess thought. This little thing is going to kill pesky Parker. It was poison, deadly to humans and Antarians. From what Kivar had said earlier that it was like having acid being poured into your stomach and feel yourself burn from the inside out. She clutched the vial like a small treasure and changed its appearance to resemble a thick lime lip-gloss.
“Now, all I have to do is.” She spoke to herself, only to have a throbbing pain emit from her temples. She rubbed her eyes and slid the green gloss into her zip pocket.
Okay, a headache, this I can deal with…where’s the aspirin? Tess lumbered over to the small bathroom next to her bedroom. It felt like the walls around her were closing in, and becoming blurred like sand.
What’s happening? Tess thought- Ah! My system is out of wreck. Need Q-10. All I need to do is walk back to the lounge area. She glanced backwards and her eyes blurred, she felt tears fall down. Great, I’m crying but as that thought fleeted her mind she tasted the liquid that streamed from her eyes. It tasted like salt in her mouth. Only to have her hand wipe the liquid from her eye that she realised that she was covered in blood, her blood.

Ohgodohgodohgod ohgodohgodohgod ohgodohgodohgod ohgodohgodohgod blood continued to bead from her eyes. She shoved her hand against her left eye and felt the blood clot and seep between the think gaps on her fingers. Don’t panic!
Heal, She said to herself, breathing slowing and ignoring the fact that she could no longer see a perfect human eye in the mirror but a crimson dark cavity shielding her eye from view. It was like she was wearing bleeding contact lenses, burning her insides like lava. Her view became glazed, a sphere of red and it started to dim and become dark. Concentrate, Tess thought. You’re in a field, in a circle and you are in control. You can do this. You can do this, she chanted to herself. She could feel a warm sensation against her left eye, like someone had smashed an egg on her forehead and the cool liquor streamed into her eye- healed.
Tess sighed in relief. Boy that was close, for a second there I thought I was going blind. She looked down at herself wearing a small blue shirt and dark cargos- borrowed from Just Jeans. She traced around the rims of bruises along her forearms and remembered Kivar pressing his fingers against her skin- holding her in place. Tess shivered. No time for rehashing- what’s done is done. So, what was that? First off, the headache and now I’m bleeding form my eyes? What else is going to happen to me? Tess slid against the bathroom tiles and curled her limp hair.
Whatever happens, I die happy knowing that Liz will die tomorrow, Tess giggled, thinking about her plan to poison Liz and comfort Max when she dies. All she had to do is pin it on Kivar, Kivar tries to kill Max but Tess kills Kivar and she’s left with Queen status…. hopefully and three sons by Max.
Ah, such a happy ending. Tess smiled at the faint hope of her future, that’s if Kivar manages to take his head out of his ass and give her that damn cure for…whatever virus or genetic defect she has!
Tess propped herself up against a few rolls of towels underneath her head and she felt her body sigh as each throbbing bruise and tired muscle came into contact with the cold tile floor.
She waved her hand in the air and the tiles heated up and Tess fell asleep in a sphere of a warm womb with dreams of Liz’s death.

Three am, Kyle glanced at his watch. He couldn’t remember when it was the last time he arrived home at three am? He had fun, surprisingly he never hanged around the alien group he found Michael to be a typical human. Michael’s passion and zest for sports matched his and they spent the night discussing Ice Hockey or football.
They ended up renting the Count of Montre Cristo, The Faculty, Scream, the Water boy, Matrix and Brave heart.
He shook his head, chuckling as he remembered Isabel and Maria screaming as they watched the Faculty. Turns out the body snatches scheme reminded Maria and Isabel of the skins. However, even though Isabel screamed she didn’t seem afraid but relaxed and very beautiful. He blushed and inwardly groaned
Not a good idea to fall for anyone, especially Isabel.
“Tess,” Kyle called out as he entered the house. His dad wasn’t home of course. Still on his date with Maria’s mom, Amy. Kyle shuddered and quickly shakes his head of the gross image of his father dating and headed towards the bathroom.
“You are not going to believe what I uh-” He zoomed down at Tess’s prone form and the temperature dropped to sub zero. Tess! He shook her shoulders and watched her head bobble back and forth. He was about to call Max when he saw the trail of bruises on her arm.
Drugs, Kyle thought. He couldn’t remember much but back when his mates in school were doing drugs he clearly remembered the bruises on their arms. He didn’t want to leave her but he had to look for the evidence of it first. He scampered around everywhere, turning over every table and chair and filtered through Tess’s belongings. He found nothing. Her knapsack, Kyle remembered seeing her bag underneath the dinging room table. He kneeled down and zipped open her bag. He rooted and found, boxes of tampons, a notebook, and cell phone- zilch. He glanced at the coffee table and saw a silver lunchbox next to a set of keys- Tess’s. I don’t have pink Pom Pom’s on mine and if it were my father’s…then I would be worried.

He unhinged the hatch and opened to box to have fifty vials, on two sets of holders reveal themselves. Test tubes, Kyle remembered in Science class when Liz used to place her test tubes in the holders….
He couldn’t tell what type of drugs it was but when Tess is involved, it was bad. Isabel had said that Aliens are allergic to Alcohol but what effect does drugs have on Aliens? He didn’t want to find out. So, Kyle picked up the lunch box and brought it back to the bathroom.

He removed the plug from the bathtub and uncorked the black stopper on the vial and emptied its contents, watching the milk coloured water swirl into a whirlpool and disappear down the drain.
It’s my fault, Kyle thought. Tess was his family and he wasn’t treating her right. He should be spending more time with her then going to basketball practice.
He touched her forehead and she wasn’t too hot but he adjusted the towels around her without disturbing her.
“Tess,” He whispered to her as he continued to pour the drugs down the drain. “I don’t know what pain you are going through but I’m here for you.” He didn’t know what else to say. “I won’t tell the others but I promise you, you’ll get through…whatever it is without these,” He waved another vial in the air before pouring it down the drain.

A/N- Sorry, I'm late......HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO EVERYONE...

OKay, i believe that everyone is going to hate me after this part, mainly becasue its mostly Tess-centered and....where i left it is the worst place but i wanted to post something, so please don't hate me forever.

Chapter 23 B

The steam descended on the bathroom floor but Tess remained anxious. She strained her eyes to see through the haze for any glimpse of the thick black hands that told the time. The clock in the bathroom was hidden behind the curtain of fog. Even though the mist carried a damp chill she gritted her teeth and firmly stood still. The fog became thicker and covered the entire bathroom floor like the sea but Tess still stood in the middle as the water showered over her body.

It was 6am in the morning. Normally Tess would be still asleep but this morning was the Luna eclipse. The image of the moon becoming a shade of red reminded her of home.
Home, Tess thought. I miss home. She knew that home to humans meant to belong somewhere but for Tess, home was millions miles away with crimsons rivers and blue grass. She wasn’t sure about the blue grass but the water was much thicker, like jelly but that was an allegory. No matter how she tried to compare the density of Antar’s water to Earth she could never come up with a good comparison.

After watching the Luna eclipse Tess decided to have a shower before taking her first milk coloured vial-Q-10 before heading over to the Crashdown and kill Liz.
Oh, that’s why I’m suddenly happy this morning; Tess sniggered in the shower as she moulded the shampoo and conditioner into her wet curly hair. Today is the day that Liz Parker dies.
Turning off the faucets in the shower she stepped outside, wrapped a towel over her wet body and waved her hand above her wet hair to dry….
Nothing happened, arching her eyebrows she focused on the image of her soft warm bright curls and still nothing happened.

Maybe I’m still a little ill from last night,
Tess thought and pulled out the hairdryer from the second drawer and dried her hair the human way.
It took twenty minutes but after Tess dried her hair and applied the conditioner moose to strengthen her curls she slipped back into the clothes she wore last night.

“Mornin’” Tess chirped to Jim but he only replied in a deep grunt. Jim was in his blue jeans and denim plaid shirt. Tess couldn’t tell if the events from last nights date were a success or a disaster but decided not to press it.
Tess ate her cocopuffs and Tabasco, slurped loudly on her orange juice in front of the television and watched the power puff girls. Jim left after gulping down his coffee around eight. Still, Kyle wasn’t awake. Usually his sleepy self would greet Tess in the lounge room but she assumed that Kyle either slept in the den or at a mate’s house.

Time for my morning interval, Tess giggled as the show ended. She turned to her metal lunchbox still perched on the table. But when she unclipped the hatch she didn’t expect to see her vials empty.
What? Tess picked up a vial and…

“I won’t tell the others but I promise you, you’ll get through…whatever it is without these,” He waved another vial in the air before pouring it down the drain.

He poured her Q-10 down the drain, Tess realised. Kyle looked through her stuff and poured her medicine down the drain.
“KY-LE” Tess screeched, she sprinted down the hallway.
“What…”Kyle emerged from the den in his grey shirt and boxes. He yawned. “Look, I didn’t mean to tape over Charmed but.”
“WHY DID YOU GO THROUGH MY STUFF!” Tess shouted, she hiccuped. It was a rule in the household that people didn’t go through other people’s stuff. It was unconventional rule, an unspoken rule. Tess didn’t go through his stuff? “Wait…what about charmed? ” She whispered.
He was more awake now, his blue eyes were sharp and shiny and alert. “Tess…What did you expect. I came home and find you on the floor….”
“Oh, so that gives you an excuse to go through my things? Does it?” Tess fumed. “I don’t go through your stuff. If I find you half dead on the floor I don’t go looking for condoms or anything….not that you’re not getting any-”
“I saw track marks Tess!” He pointed at her arms. “You’re always moody, sleepy, you throw up! You are not supposed to get sick,”
“But that STILL DOESN”T GIVE YOU THE RIGHT TO LOOK THROUGH MY THINGS I-” I’m going to die, those words died on her lips. There was no other alternative. Kivar had said that this would be her last batch and to not come looking for him.
“Tess, I’m sorry, I was trying to help you, you’re my sister….Tess I love you…I’ve always loved you. I love you I love yo-u”
Tess turned her head up in annoyance, what? She found Kyle in mid sentence while his hands randomly drummed rhythms on the wall. His lips half open and he slouched to one side.
Oh God, My mind warps are slowly fading. This could not get any worse…
Kyle suddenly flinched; his eyes were glazed but stared at her “What did I say.”
“You were apologising,” Tess said. He forgot, Tess realised. He almost came out of his mind warps and that wasn’t good. She must tell Kivar….but only if it gets worse. If Kyle remembers everything then her whole cover will be blown, including Kivar’s.
“Oh,” Kyle grimaced. “Sorry. Look, I’ll shout you breakfast at the Crashdown this morning? How’s that sound as an ‘apology gift’?”
She shrugged her shoulders. “I don’t know Kyle? Breakfast? I already.” She dug her hand sin her pockets and Tess pulled out a long vial of green lip-gloss.
The poison, Tess realised. I changed its structure to resemble lip-gloss so no one will drink it and Kyle didn’t pour it down the drain. Things started to look up. Even though her powers are out of wack and she was going to die at least she can accomplish one thing: poisoning Liz Parker.
Tess smiled weakly, her body ached with pains but she will stand strong. “Breakfast sounds great, Kyle.”

*
Half an hour later

Crashdown Café

It was 9am, Saturday morning and Kyle quizzed Maria about her latest ‘visions’ as he slouched against the wall of the Crashdown booth. “Milkshakes? Are you sure?”
Michael nodded. “This is getting weird,” He enveloped his hand with Maria’s.
“I mean, we are so used to seeing dead people in our joint flashes that seeing reels of Liz drinking a milkshake seems a little…”
“Off? Don’t you think?” Tess said, potting herself next to Kyle. Her makeup was caked around the eyes but Maria’s could still see the dark purple rims underneath her blotchy eyes. There was also uneasiness thick in the air. Something must have happened between them, Maria thought.
She knew what she saw when she closed her eyes at night. Maria saw her best friend, Liz, gulping down a strawberry milkshake. There was something sinister that was going on in this vision. She couldn’t see it like a knife or a crazy one eyes monster eating people but the atmosphere and feelings she received was, fear. What ever was going to happen it something terrible. What could happen? Would Liz get food poisoning? If that’s ever possible…
Michael had his arm perched around her shoulders. Kasha, the new pre-teen waitress sauntered by and took their orders.
“Two regular UFO coffees.” Maria rubbed her eyes and felt the grit grate against her skin. I need coffee, Maria thought.
“Four Blue moon Smoothes,” Tess mumbled.
“Make that seven,” Isabel said to the Waitress with Max and a pale Liz in Tow. The sight of her pale Friend, hanging off Max for support caused Maria in hysterics. “What’s wrong?” was it Kivar again?
Her friend turned to look at Max, who seemed to be supporting her body weight with his own. Something must have happened between them as well, and Maria immediately felt a stab of guilt. Truth was, ever since she started ‘seeing things’ with Michael everything else has been faded into the background.
She had to bite her tongue from screaming at her friend, to ask her what was going on? But she remained where she was and gripped onto her boyfriend’s hand for support. Now is not the time, Maria thought. She would have to speak to her friend later.
**
Oh, look at me and my stupid hair? Oh woe as me I’m sick! Catch me Max! In her mind Tess’s voice imitated Liz’s as a parrot and she had trouble keeping her laughter within her. Die bitch, die! Tess chanted to herself. She could picture it right now. Taking Liz by the back of her small neck and feeling her frail bones snap and slide between the gaps of her fingers.
Calm down, Tess told herself. Think! How can I slip Liz’s poison in somewhere knowing that she’ll consume it? Think Tess think!

Just as she thought of this fate, some higher power decided to lend Tess’s a hand and Kasha was handing everyone his or her blue coloured milkshakes. During this time Maria was mumbling under her breath, “Milkshakes?”
Tess was so glad that Kyle had resorted to talking to Michael about Cars or whatever. She didn’t feel like making nice with him after what he did. Tess strained to concentrate on being the good girl when she could see Liz sitting on front counter, leaning on her man’s shoulder.
Don’t you dare touch him! Tess thought. He’s mine. I had him first! If it weren’t for you and your dumb helpless ways Max would have never liked you. Just fuck him and leave him alone. Fucking him for all eternity is my job, thankyou very much.

Time, the thought was like a cold wash bucket over her body. Time is something that I don’t have. However, by murdering Liz maybe Kivar might become generous and make me another batch?

Mulling over the possibilities Kasha had forgot that Liz was sitting by front counter and milkshake in hand she twirled around locked her right ankle with Tess’s and fell. However, Kasha, grabbed onto the table with both hands. The milkshake however fell and splattered all over Tess’s pale white long sleeved shirt.

She could smell cow’s milk on her skin and the cold ice cream soaked into her top. No one moved and Kasha was babbling, crying or maybe both. AT the same time, an internal struggle between Tess and her instinct to squash Kasha like a fly was being fought. Until, Tess noticed that Liz was missing a milkshake and her own was also on the floor. Two milkshakes swirls pooled around Kasha’s white tennis shoes.
I could kiss those tattered bacteria infected shoes, Tess thought. Kasha had handed her the golden opportunity that she was looking for. The Milkshake.
“Tess.” Liz breathed; her brown eyes were widened like a deer.
A dead deer, Tess realised. I can’t wait. “I just need to clean up,” Tess whispered. “Ill get another batch of milkshakes from Kasha on my way out.”
Liz didn’t question Tess’s sudden kindness and retuned to her seat.
Tess kicked the bathroom door opened, locked it and stared at the mirror. Her white place blue long sleeved shirt was now blue and had taken on a pasty glue affect.
Tess breathed and watched as her hand wiped away the milkshake stain, it was like a warm glow. Tess sighed to her reflection. “You see, all better.” her fingers worked around her eyes and she no longer looked like a prostitute caked with makeup but half asleep. Better improvement perhaps? Tess didn’t think and scootered out of the bathroom to see that the Crashdown had not entered its daily breakfast rush and she slid behind the staffroom door.
“I’m so sorry-wow!” Kasha had her mouth slightly open and placed the newly made milkshakes on the kitchen table. “How did you?”
“My mother used to work for a fashion company,” Tess lied and eyed at her until Kasha huffed and headed to the diner to clean up the mess.
The chef’s were having a smoko so Tess dug out the lime lip-gloss and watched it morphed into a clear crystal vial with a golden stopper underneath her hands. The green liquid poison swirling inside warmed her heart.
She poured the entire contents into one milkshake and it turned peppermint green. Tess shrugged. It was have to do. Tess placed the empty poison file in her pocket and headed outside. The diner floor was mopped and Kasha was bussing tables. Meanwhile, Maria, Kyle, Isabel and Michael were talking amongst themselves while Liz was whispering to Max, reading the early morning Roswell paper.
Her last newspaper, Tess thought with glee. Ah, such a happy day.

“There was no blueberry ice-cream left. So, she used peppermint,” Tess tilted her head as if she was afraid that Liz would snap.
All for show of course, Tess smiled sweetly.
“That’s okay, I like peppermint,” Liz smiled.
“I don’t,” Max cringed. “Bad experience at Joe’s last week,” he explained to Tess.
“That’s because Joe’s doesn’t use peppermint ice cream,” Liz whispered hoarse, her eyes had a roll of puff beneath them, and so did Max. They booth seemed, depressed.
But Tess didn’t want to press anything and said, “Okay,”
Tess sat next to Isabel and pretending to listen to their conversation but really, all her attention was focused on Liz Parker and the poisoned Milkshake she held in her pathetic hands.
“I don’t understand,” Isabel said. “You saw Liz, in a vision from god-knows-where and you felt that this was a bad thing?” She sipped on her blueberry milkshake. “I think you should get more sleep instead of watching bewitch all the-“
“Hey? Bewitch is a great show,” Kyle rebuked. “That ol’ Samantha could do anything to Darren.”
“I liked the one where she turned him into a goose,” Michel mused, smirking.
Tess smiled, but she was rolling her eyes in her mind. Boring, She almost yawned in front of them. Tess’s blue eyes side glanced Liz every few seconds. She hadn’t touched her milkshake at all but resorted to twirling the red straw in endless circles, speaking to Max softly but her doe eyes told otherwise.
Come on, Tess complained. Drink it and die. She looked at her watch absently. I want to watch a movie at ten so, chop-chop-chop and die already!

‘But don’t you think that we are going about this the wrong way,’ Liz was whispering to Max but somehow Tess strained herself enough to hear titbits of their conversation.

“What about Sabrina the teenage witch?” Isabel yelled to Kyle. “It has some merit, I guess.”

Liz, we are doing the right thing. I know you’re scared’ Tess could hear Max’s strained voice but it was very faint.

‘Scared? Scared is an understatement. Being scared…and oh yeah…being pregnant with your child and…’

WHAT! Tess thought. Did she hear correctly or did Liz just say she was pregnant with Max’s child?

“Dawson was way better for Joey,” Maria quipped, Isabel glared at her and whispered back.
“Pacey is SO much better,”
Oh shut up guys, Tess thought. I need to hear this but Liz and Max’s conversation was somehow muted and all Tess could hear was the group’s conversation and everyone else’s

“Did you see Charmed last night?” Maria sipped on her coffee, leaning her head on Michael’s shoulder affectionately.
Tess crossed her legs, and looked at Liz toying with her milkshake.
Drink it! Tess fumed.
“Okay, we are getting off track,” Isabel said, Tess pretended to listen in but her whole body was turned towards the front counter where Max and Liz sat closely. Too close

“What about Maria’s vision?” Isabel’s voice dropped to a whisper. “I mean, is Liz going to die from drinking a milkshake?” She smirked. “Come on? It could be one of Michael’s twisted fantasies-”
”WHA-”Maria’s voice rose.

Michael placed his hand, unwrapped from Maria’s hand and over her mouth. “Isabel, that wasn’t funny,” but everyone laughed.

Tess shook her head. She suddenly realised that today was like any other day for the group. Isabel and Maria had their daily soapy fight over Dawson’s creek and the guys will be discussing cars.

Tess never looked at Liz’s delicate white hands before. Her left hand was wrapped around the lucid green milkshake and she leaned forwards and her small full mouth touched the cold circular rim and tilted the drink back. Tess felt her heart rise, like the deep chasm in her heart was filled as she watched the milkshake travelled down Liz’s throat, a small stream traced around her chin. The clink of the half empty milkshake slammed back onto the counter sounded like wedding bells ringing in Tess’s ears.

Kyle, Maria, and Isabel were laughing. The waitress Kasha was stressed but still managed to smile at the demanding customers. Everything faded from Tess's vision except Liz’s big brown eyes as they widened in shock and slowly her hands touched her lips, the colour on her face turned to a shade of lime.
Victory, finally... Tess thought as she watched Liz’s shocked expression. Time to die….

Chapter 24

The warm smooth texture of chocolate with swirls of peppermint filled Liz with warmth. Whatever brand Jose used for making this milkshake was like an aphrodisiac. Her hands involuntary convulsed; Liz gripped the side of the leather stool to keep her from wavering.

What were they talking about again? Liz wondered as she gazed at the chocolate texture of Max’s skin. It’s not chocolate, Liz thought… but an in-between a dark mocha and bronze.
Becky, a new waitress and Liz’s Classics history partner took away her milkshake, and quickly eyed over Max, winking at him seductively before walking towards the staff room.

I must take a mental note to fire her, Liz seethed inside. How dare she? How dare the whole race gaze at him? Couldn’t they see that he was hers and she was his? Liz knew that she couldn’t touch Max; everyone was under the impression that they weren’t together. He’s supposed to be hooking up with Tess.
Well, that idea went out the window, Liz softly chuckled at that thought.
Max was still whispering to her. Can he tell that she wasn’t listening? That all she was focusing on was the movement of his poised lips protruding forwards and backwards? Wishing that some other part of him did the same?
Liz blushed, shaking off the image of them together in the shower, his hands soaping up the contours of her supple body…
Okay Liz, she silently said to herself. Get yourself out of the gutter! But how can she help it when she gazed upon Max. This man, this guy was a prime example of the alpha male and he was lusting after her. Even when everyone else would literally flop out their breasts just so he would flick his eyes for a millisecond towards them.
His hands were quite big; he could envelope his entire hand over hers, which resembled delicate ballerina hands.
Liz sighed to herself, placed her arms crossed over her chest and settled for gazing at his outstretched hands sprawled on the bench top.
“Liz,” her name rolled out of his mouth like melted honey. Liz bit her lower lip to mute her moan.
Max, she thought to herself. She wondered what the taste of honey would be against his hard dashboard. Would it still taste as sweet as his hot mouth? Or would the spicy sent of him mix, and create a new flavor of sweet and spicy?
Liz could almost see herself, riding him over the front counter like a bull, dripping warm honey from a plastic bottle all over his body and feeling his mouth over her breasts.
“Honey?” Max asked.
Liz faulted, shocking herself from her daydream. “Er-What?” She then realized that her hands were clasped over Betty Sue’s bumblebee shaped Honey pot. She quickly hinged her hands off, as if she was touching fire.
“Uh-I’m good,” Liz nodded. Was she blushing? Did her face hold lustful intentions? Was she drooling? Why was he looking at her like that?
“Uh-”Max’s eyes darted everyone, all over her face. “We are going to speak with Serena this afternoon,” He shifted in his stool. “About travel arrangements…”
Oh, Liz face fell. Whatever she was feeling what he said killed the mood. A dark shadow past over them, you couldn’t see it but you could feel the coldness huddling them like a new mother. Liz didn’t want to mull over the travel arrangements. Not when their friends were only two feet away. She felt someone touch her hand and she realized for the first time that it was Max, his hand squeezed tightly on hers. “No matter what…I will do anything for us, including Charn,” His gazed dropped to her stomach before gazing back at her eyes. “You mind if I stay here tonight?”
Liz almost laughed out loud. “Oh yes Max, I want you to come,”
“Yes, come-er” Max raised his eyebrows at her word “come”.
Liz realized what she said, and drew her hands from him. As she was getting off the stool she felt ashamed and embarrassed at what she just said. Yes, any guy would love a woman who had sex on their mind. But that’s not what they need right now. They had other lives to consider…some haven’t even had the chance to breathe, Liz thought, rubbing her slightly swollen stomach and headed towards the staff room to cool of her mind. They couldn’t loose sight of things, even if she wanted to, just for a little while.
**
I don’t even know why I’m even here, Tess thought herself. No, she knew why. As soon as Liz drank the milkshake Tess somehow knew that it wasn’t a poison and she quickly made an excuse that she left her cell phone at home and quickly bolted. Not that anyone noticed her, except for Kyle but that’s because he thought she was off with the pixies.

He dozent’ ‘ike uninvited guests,” One of Kivar’s whores huffed. Her nametag said “Charm,” but that was a fleeting thought from her mind.
Zen Zell Him zat zi need to zpeek with him,” Tess mimicked Charm’s very bad French accent. She knew that this Charm girl wasn’t French. She was one of Kivar’s slaves he bewitched from their home planet but speaking English was always hard, even for humans. So, Tess tried speaking an ancient dialect called Quor-nith, the language that her true self once spoke long before it emerged into their modem counter-parts and- maybe- this bimbo might understand.

Mayen navamaeoya iiasa Taeoyasasa, baunyata iia wyavasa onanakaeoya kyanaonawyana vasa Quorunyaeoyaeoyana Vavyava. Bayen tahaeoya vaunyatahaonaraiiatayen baeoyasataonawyaeoyada onana maeoya bayen tahaeoya Goyaonada’sa-”

(My name is Tess, but I was once known as Queen Ava. By the authority bestowed on me by the God’s)

“Your accent a little bit off,” Kivar appeared behind her with a loud crack; louder than thunder, Tess shrieked before placing her hands on her mouth.
He smiled in self-satisfaction that he sacred her. “ The forgotten language sounds more like Spanish than Japanese…”He then amended. “Or probably both…its developed over the years.”
In Alex’s form he wore a black suit with a dark gray silk shirt underneath. His hands were dripping in blood, his left hand curled around a rusted nail that was bent ninety degree’s to the left.
He must’ve caught Tess’s gaze on his hands and said. “That was my twelve o’clock appointment…. come” He waved her over to the same table that sat only two nights ago. He placed the nail on the table, deliberately not making a sound but making sure Tess saw the small strip of human flesh hanging off the pointed end.
“So, you’ve probably discovered my secret and to be honest I was expecting more of a-” He paused. “-earlier break through-”His eyes gazed at her, smiling as he sunk into his business chair. “However, since hearing your foul attempt at out native language its puzzles me that you couldn’t break the inscription on the vial?”
“There was an inscription?” Tess said.
Kivar chocked on his large morsel of red apple and he spat out the half eaten fruit onto the table, spraying some bits of chewed apple onto the table. He laughed, and wheezed, chocking on his own laughter before regaining composer. “There was…”
He rubbed his temple with his dried blood fingers for a moment, as if in deep thought before saying. “ Touya anana… is the abridged version. It is also known as Monaith cortiff among the shape shifters…but its base form is Taoonao Taoraovaokaokyao..Meaning in English. To Track,”
To track, Tess thought.
Kivar took no notice of her and began explaining, even if she didn’t understand, but Tess knew that Kivar loved hearing his own voice fill the room, even if that voice belonged to Alex Whitman.
“There is a place called Magnikartrya, the last frontier of Antar that belongs to Zan and his posse. However, its been hidden ever since his mother and your father, and many others…. went in exile. No one knows where it is and there is only one place that you can enter it. Its somewhere alright” He wiggled his eyebrows. “On Earth. However, no matter what methods I’ve tried and believe me- I have tried, nothing or no one knows the only one place to access this place of sanctuary. But if I know how Zan’s protectors think they will advise that Magnikartrya is the best place to hide. He will agree because he has to think of others now. What you have given Liz is a chemical satellite tracker that will track Liz where ever she goes…”
Tess huffed, her hair billowed around her shoulders, “Gee, so, it wasn’t poison but some chemical bugging system to keep tabs on Liz? But I don’t understand..”
“You never understand, do you, Tess?” Kivar breathed. “Despite your exceptional beauty you will never match up to the likes of Liz Parker,”
“That was a low blow,” Tess whispered, squirming in her chair uncomfortably as her blood soaked into her clothes.
“TE-SS!”Kivar whined. “I thought you got rid of that problem?”
“Yes but-“
“But but….BUT NOTHING-”
“Kyle poured it down the drain-”
“Sure, blame it on the human,” Kivar mumbled- annoyed at Tess for being such a pathetic excuse for an alien.
“HE IS COMING OUT OF THE MIND WARP!” Tess jumped out of her chair so fast that it collapsed onto the floor with a loud thud. She crossed her arms, shivering at the coldness of the room but knowing full well it was because she was losing blood.
Kivar walked beside her and gently placed his arm around her shivering shoulders, he whispered, concerned- “How much does he remember?”
Tess’s lower lip trembled, searching her mind to remember, “Nothing…yet…just the three hours before Alex came over…and..”
“Here is what you are going to do…”Kivar ushered her into a red door, on the right hand side of the vacant warehouse, opened the door to find a small room with a couch and a TV propped against the wall. “Go you and clean yourself up. Keep a close eye on the group…if Kyle starts to remember what happened…kill him,” He said this so casually that Tess closed her mouth to keep herself from vomiting at the thought.
“Nicholas will keep watch and if he senses that Kyle remembers he will kill Kyle. If Kyle remembers and you chicken out he will kill you both…”Seeing Alex’s goofy smile on the pale face Tess let out a dry sob. She rubbed her arms up and down, her eyes flickering around the small room. Tess could breathe again when there was a foot space between her and Kivar.
He handed Tess a small white card with a list of instructions.
Healing stones? A vial of womanly blood?

“You will need to sit down for this,” Kivar pointed at the small single bed.
Seeing a flash of pity over his face was enough emotion to put Tess on the soft mattress.
“Liz is pregnant with Max’s child,” He said.
Darkness washed over her; she couldn’t see it but she felt its cold bony hands throttle her throat. Her breathing came in short pants; she drew her knees together in mild comfort.
“When the Royal four was created there was an anomaly with Havana,”
“Havana? Don’t….chyou- mean…A-va?”
“There were two human subject chosen, subject A produced you and your dupe while subject B produced Liz,” Kivar paused, his cold dark blue eyes held no soul or emotion. “Liz is Havana. You are Havana. Zan, Max chose Liz.”
It seemed Fate didn’t like her. No thoughts or wise comeback came to mind except for a vacant dead sea of silence, with a faint scream of a girl inside, ripping out her golden hair, stuffing herself with bitter sand and empty promises. There was no happiness for the broken hearted.

“Why am I telling you this well, I care about you, you resemble a woman who I once loved and was betrothed to. You have been through a lot and now here is a chance to have vengeance indirectly,”
She was listening, but she had no voice, her voice had been caged by a river of tears, freezing the muscles inside throat, leaving it to breathe in acid.
---
KIVAR PERCHED ON THE WOODEN CHAIR adjacent from the bed before walking over to crouch in front of Tess.
“In two weeks, I am going to reveal myself to Valandra.” He smiled, “I know Alex is looking forward to this…”He chuckled but it died when he saw no reaction from her. He then realized that this wasn’t the same Tess a few hours ago. She has lost the twinkle of fire in her eyes, her skin was drained and veins colored her skin like patchwork.
“If you want revenge then…ask the sorcerers Aramis, it’s on the white card.” There was no movement but the gentle rise and fall of her chest. Silence was speaking for her, Kivar realized; suddenly worried that this might be a good thing or a bad thing?
“You must contact her by chant as she spends most of her time on the other plane but I assure you, let her look inside your heart and she will offer bittersweet heaven,” he rubbed his hands together, “But, think of this. You can’t hurt Liz but imagine the pain she will feel when she discovers her best friend, Maria, Kyle and Michael have all been slaughtered and it was all her fault? Imagine the rift between Liz and Max? Imagine being my Queen. If you managed to keep my identity a secret for two more weeks then my scientists can give you the cure to your disease,” He touched her damp forehead. “You’re just like me, you love to torture people. Just like Alex…” Kivar smirked. “Sleep here if you want, my servants can offer you some food. As for the Q-10….unfortunately we don’t have any…the scientists say it takes a month to extract everything from their source. Well…from the unwilling host Ava…but the actual cure they have and it will be your reward if you be a good little girl,”

Tess didn’t reply, she remained where she was. He touched her forehead in comfort before leaving the room, promising himself to check on her. After all, he understood what it felt like to have the love of his life being in love with someone else.

The difference between their cases was that Kivar had already taken his revenge by possessing the one thing Valandra loves; Alex Whitman- all thanks to the help of Tess- he hoped that Tess would get revenge and become her once powerful self- he was going to help, he owed his gratitude for what sacrifices she made. Kivar couldn’t remember why he was in such a happy mood but then, his henchman; Nicholas appeared by the vacant table, he was too in a happy mood.
“Sir, your body has arrived,”
Ah, Kivar thought. That’s the reason…

so Once again, you guys mean so much to me, thanks for the replies...and what did you think????

I am a dreamer wrote:this is the only disadvantage about fic. it's the waiting. and i'm one of the most impaitent people that i know. and i hate waiting  well, anyway...

i was so worried that liz was going to be poisioned by tess and then we find out that instead of being poisoned by tess, the vile is acting like a-sort-of aphrodisiac for liz. i wonder how tess will react when she finds out that what she gave liz, will make liz hornier for max then a cat in heat. he he he . sorry, i just think about tess finding that out and i can't stop laughing when i think how she'll react.

anyway, i've still got a few things running around in my mind. like whats going on with ava? does she have the same genetic disease thing that tess has? is she dieing? or is she already dead?

will max and liz travel to the sancturary on antar, where the others are hiding? will they even survive long enough to make the trip? will the others go with them? will the tracer work? will charn find it and destroy or disable it? will the tracer actually key kivar into the sancturary's location? how will max's REAL parents react when they find out that liz is pregnant with charn? will they try to hurt liz because they have heard about what charn can do (about destroying the world, when it is born)? or will they know the truth somehow? or will max order them to not hurt them? will they still follow him?

how will isabel react when she sees alex? liz knows that alex is being possessed by kivar right? and max knows as well because of the flashes, but have they told the others? because i can tell what isabel and maria would do if they see him. they would go to him, even though they think he's dead, and listen to and do whatever he says, and if he asked either of them to go with him, they would do it. see the problem? and what will kivar do now that his body is here? and doesn't his real body contain more power? and how can anyone fight that kind of power when they hardly have any powers themselves?

and we know that tess is going to try to kill maria, because is the little plot hints from a while back, but will tess try to kill any of the others? will she kill kyle if he remembers, like kivar told her to? and more importantly, if she can't do it, and nicolas comes along, will she let HIM kill kyle?

anyway, i'm still lovin this and can't wait for more, so PLZ update again soonish.

Sorry about waiting...i hate it too......Yeah....Ava and Tess both have the same genetic disease- i stated it elarier but hey...oh well..

WILL SHE LET HIM KILL KYLE??????Who knows  stay tuned. Tess trying to kill Maria...yeah...but that's the icing on the cake......but I try to redeem her....just a little......but i have failed miserably.....

does anyone want to be my muse? well besie the wonder strawberry shorcake..aka steph who is looking over my other story...my muse for this one....has too much work to do...(what about moi...who is in year 12) I dunno...all you need to do is listen to me throwing out ideas.......

ON with the show

Rae

OKay....so here is the new part. please don't hate me becasue i know its bad......please comment.....and the next part will be this weekened...Monday at the latest!!!promise!!!

Chapter 25

KYLE SAT WITH MARIA AND ISABLEL while Michael headed towards the staff room to start his lunch shift, along with Liz. Time seemed to fly when he hanged with the group, one minute it was nine thirty in the morning and the next minute it was noon. Tess hadn’t returned, and Kyle knew that he should be out there- looking for her if she was taking drugs. He called home a couple of times, tried her cell but nothing. His anxiety grew as he stuffed himself with burgers and onion rings. The headache wasn’t helping either. His head felt like it was swimming in lead- if it went for any longer he’d gone and ask Max….

Flickering his gaze to the counter he noticed that Liz was avoiding Max. Max knew this but Kyle had this weird feeling that something wasn’t quite right between those two. He dare not voice it but if Liz was involved- disregarding the he used to like her- he felt genuine friendship and he was concerned that Max will try and hurt her.
His eyes felt heavy and he stared at the swirling red patterns of the Crashdown wall- they twirled like daisies until they lost their vibrant color and became dark. Everything became dark, black and empty. No longer was he sitting in the crowded diner but reclining in a black leather chair, sitting next to-
Nicholas, Kyle realized in mild panic. Nicholas was Kivar’s henchman.
But you have never met Nicholas…have you, his voice whispered.
He breathed out cold hair, water vapor rose from the concrete floor like steam- broken pieces of cloud downy covered the floor. Dark shapes lumbered all around and they all seemed to know him for their eyes were trained to the floor.
O-Kay-, Kyle thought. I must be dreaming- going along with his theory he struggled to move his field of vision from Nicholas boyish face to find-
Tess! he saw her wearing a flowing black silk gown and a dark purple shawl wrapped around her bare shoulders. Her unruly hair had been straightened and she was smiling…. but it didn’t match her eyes- they seemed to scream- fear, torture, love, and more fear of something but she still managed to held herself up okay.
You go girl, he thought.
“Well done Ava,” The words erupted from his mouth but Kyle didn’t voice them.
His gaze landed on the form of Alex, strapped to the table by multiple long metal chain hand-cuffs- his body was limp and lifeless but his eyes were flickering all around- as if he was trying to scream but his mouth was sown shut.
What’s going on? He looked around at the crowd of girls wearing lacy corsets and underwear, some were completely naked and only wore black body paint on their arms and legs- in small circle swirled patters- as if they were making a statement. He took Tess by her hand and led her away from the desk, only seeing out of the corner of his eye Alex being dragged in the opposite direction.
What’s going to happen to him? What kind of dream is this?
He placed Tess on a four-poster bed with feathered down black pillows and silk sheets.
This is….Kyle lost train of thought as he senses came alive with the taste of her skin, lips and scent she gave off when she was aroused. She seemed, on the outside to enjoy having sex…but her eyes still held a sense of regret…something resembling a trapped animal……
He was making love to her- he almost creaked up laughing. Okay, I admit it; I did have a crush on her but then…then what? You liked her as a sister? Judging by this scene he had an ill feeling that he did not think of anything towards sisterly when he was pushing himself inside her, moaning out her name and nailing her hand to the column with a rusted nail.
What! He saw the brown copper nail, covered in someone else dried blood and he plunged the nail into her left hand. She screamed and he was….he was laughing…aroused? His eyes were large and opaque…he saw Tess frightened reflection in the midst of his desire to make love and torture at the same time…

Something hit him on the head; he pulled a white dishrag on his face. A look of amusement was on Isabel’s face.
“What?” He shrugged, drawing his arms to himself, checking to see Tess’s blood on his hands.
She giggled. “You looked like you were enjoying yourself”
Kyle faulted. “What!” He then lowered his voice; he didn’t want to draw attention to himself.
“Gee,” Isabel cocked her head to one side. “I was suggesting for the past ten minutes whether or not you want to come with us to the carnival tonight at Blue Moon Canyon?”
“Yeah, sure” He agreed. “Let me go and ask…(he flicked his gaze around the diner)…Tess”
‘Well done Ava’

He shook himself out of the trance, tapping his fingers on the table to calm his nerves.
Looks like I’m going to speak with Tess about a lot of things….

**
HE’LL HAVE AN ALIEN BLAST, Liz instructed herself. It’s a simple order- Alien Blast- Vanilla ice cream, cream and mini MnM’s. There was nothing to fret about? So, okay, your lover has ordered an alien blast and by coincidence he happens to be an alien- and so are you.

Liz hadn’t gotten used to that concept- she was an alien, the same as Max, Michael and Isabel but lately a lot of things didn’t matter to her anymore. She still cried every night about her parents but she knew that she had to be strong for her own child’s sake. Which means, no distractions! Even if it means those distractions happen to be of the….alternative sort. It didn’t help either that Maria was talking to Becky about the movie Jon Duan DeMarico- A Johnny Depp film in which he plays the most amazing lover. She’d seen the movie a bunch of times and she could picture Max wearing the black velvet eye mask- like Zorro did- and woo her with a deep rumble of a Spanish accent.

Spanish, Liz inwardly moaned, she never learnt the language but Max did and when he ask the simple things like ‘Where’s the bathroom’ ‘What time is it’ just about anything he’d make it sound like he was speaking about a very intimate thing.

When he serenaded to her a few months back, if it weren’t for Future Max then she would have ….
Liz crossed her legs behind front counter, handing drinks to customers and stood in front of the freezer component, braising herself against the cool surface. She was on fire, everything felt on fire
Nothing was more erotic than Spanish…except…
“Liz, are you alright?” Maria’s silver alien bulbs bobbled back and forth and Liz bolted, she had an image of cupping those balls…but it wasn’t Maria’s antennae.

She ran into the employees’ bathroom (Behind the staff room door), locked the door and managed to throw herself in front of the toilet bowl before retching.
Get a hold of yourself, Liz thought, fleeting a look down at her clasped legs. She smacked herself on the forehead before retreating back to the bowl and vomiting, then washing her face again with cold water.

Liz sat there for a while; she eventually crawled over to the washbasin and washed her face and hands.
Calm down, Liz told herself. Take deep breaths. She sat against the wall. She felt warm and wet between her inner thighs and gingerly Liz ripped off the silver buttons and saw that her blue underwear was soaked to the bone and a faint trail trickled down her legs.

Liz crumpled and covered her face in her hands. Oh, things can’t get any worse….

“Liz…”Max tentatively asked as he relocked the door behind him.
Of course, Liz mocked. Max can open up anything- she unconsciously spread her legs open and when she notice this quickly clamped them shut.
He sat beside her on the floor, curling a lock of her hair in his fist.
“What’s wrong?” He whispered, his hand moved to curl around her shoulders.
You are, Liz thought. You are just…
His lips captured hers and Liz shivered into him as his tongue met hers. She felt whole again- as if something was missing in her that left her cold and now she was warm again….but it wasn’t enough. Liz fumbled with his bronze belt buckle.
“Come….orfff-”She mumbled in-between nipping his lips- kissing him everywhere on his face.
Max pulled back- his golden amber eyes were a molten blazed- glazed over like icing sugar. “Are you sure?”

She only replied by gingerly sliding off her underwear, gazing upon her silk curls- she blushed in mild embarrassment and chose, instead to look at Max. He was smiling sheepishly- as if they two innocent teenagers making love for the first time.
Clothes were thrown in silence; only her green uniform and his black shirt remained.

She loved seeing the stars. The millions of blinding lights swirling around her as she held onto his skin, she buried herself his black fur. She felt herself being lifted up- her skin pressed up against the cold rough surface of the bathroom wall.

They made their own music; careful not to awaken others she started in a slow whisper, biting onto his collarbone as the pressure built up around their joint bodies. She loved the feeling of his hard hips pressing into hers; she could picture his bones trying to rip through her skin- thrusting against her in vain to get closer to her insides. She felt complete- realizing for the first time that this unnerving feeling she felt before was that she hadn’t felt his hands on her for months, haven’t felt his hard shaft penetrating her swollen slick inner walls-the sheer physical feeling of the present was overwhelming.

Knock Knock Knock..

The faint tapping was barely heard, Liz clamped her legs around Max’s waist, her feet kneeing into his hard behind, rearing him onwards like a mechanical bull. Harder….faster…harder.

___

TESS SAT IN THE MIDDLE, surrounded by chopstick thin floating black candles; she held a white healing crystal-borrowed from the skins-in her cupped hands. A red line circled around Tess, it was her own blood from within, which was required for this incantation. Inhaling the air slowly she opened her teary red eyes- sore from rubbing away the flowing tears- and began to recite the words Kivar had given to her.

Saonarakaeoyaraeoyasasa Varavamaiiasa, onafoya tahaeoya baraonakyaeoyana haeoyarata, onafoya tahaeoya iialala foyavataeoyada, Iia kavalala unyapnaonana yenonaunyara wyaiiasadaonama vanada goyaunyaiiadavanakaeoya vasa taona wyahavata sahavalala iia daona wyaiiataha wyahata laiiatatalaeoya iia havaeoya…Kaonamaeoya, tavakyaeoya tahaiiasa onafoyafoyaeoyaraiianagoya onafoya balaonaonada savakaraiiafoyaiiakaeoya "

(Sorceress, Aramis, of the broken heart, of the ill fated, I call upon your wisdom and guidance as to what shall I do with what little I have…. come, take this offering of blood sacrifice,)

She concentrating on channeling her energy- just as Nasdeo had taught her- for the past seventeen years- and the stone in her hand glowed with a dull hum.

Aramis appeared in a channel of whispery clouds- little speckles of glitter covered her white skin. Her long silver hair felt down to her waist- her vibrant violet eyes were unnerving.
“What do you ask of me…. when you should be asking yourself what lies ahead in times of truth and realization?” She then added. “The frailty inside can not be revered- it was meant to be.”
No, Tess whispered.
“I.. h-ave come-by favor of Kivar- I need your guidance to reclaim the man who has been taken from me,”
“Qonangoylach! Varavamaiiasa!”Aramis muttered to herself.
Tess faulted, “I apologize…oh great one?”
“You’re afraid of him.”
She raised an eyebrow. “Him?”
“Kivar,” She replied-fear etched around her angelic features. “We are all prisoners, in some way, in his castle…. but unlike me…. you still have a chance…”

Tess wondered what Aramis meant about that comment but it fleeted from her mind just as quickly as she thought of it.
Aramis sized her with her violet eyes, her breathy replying in harsh echoes-like whales. “The man you seek has been taken, you cannot reclaim…yet your fate is entwined by the one whose eyes have been closed…”

Great, a mighty clairvoyant talks in riddles….
“I want revenge for the fate that has been taken from me,”
“Your fate has been fulfilled in the scheme of things….”She paused. “Your fate only ends…depending on which path you will take?” She added dryly. “You are pure inside….you are like a sheep who has lost its way…there is time to change your ways!”

What does that mean? Sheep? I’m not entirely evil? Yes, you are! A man whose eyes have been closed? Think Tess!

Aramis gave her an answer, “My advice would be to confess to Kyle and run…run as fast as you can…. find sanctuary…”The mist around her leveled to the floor and Aramis reclined on the floor, twirling an absent cloud with her glittery fingers. “He can’t hear us….it was your fault for the destruction he has caused…rectify it!”
“HOW?” Tess said. “I have this virus that’s killing both Ava and me! I made a deal with Kivar….I was following orders…”
“Was it your plan for Kivar to posses Kyle and then Alex?”
Tess faulted. “How did you?”

“I am the master of the all seeing eye,” she replied. “Kivar possessed Kyle when he was making his roots before deciding on Alex….Kyle is in great danger! For the information he has inside could destroy Kivar….crucial information that Max and the others must know! Redeem yourself!”

KINJUANSHIVA!” Aramis chanted-purple flames surrounded Tess- she felt lighter-like a balloon in the wind. The room grew dimmer as the flames took shape of four walls in soft pink.
A checkered sheet greeted her fall with a soft thud. Tess was back in her own room- looking around her cluttered books and dirty clothes-she smiled faintly.
“Tess?” A faint voice came from the doorway.
Kyle! Tess thought.
Redeem yourself!
She knew what she had to do.

Chapter 26

TESS OPENED HER BEDROOM DOOR to find Kyle walk into the small kitchen, his head poking inside to inspect the contents only to pick a Pepsi-twist the cap off and take a big gulp, then belched.
Tess rolled her eyes, so Kyle.

“TESS!” He yelled when he saw her walk into the room-he faulted but his face still read the signs of confusion-fear-anxiety and a hint of anger.
Her stomach hurt, the inner walls were swollen like a giant peach and the red patch down her inner leg didn’t help either. She had to ignore the pain-

but there was something else-a smell of ripe mixture with lime-something unnerving her senses-her hair stood on end.

Ignore it, Tess said to herself. Focus on helping Kyle, do something good…maybe Max will love you in the end…but did she really want that? Ninety percent of her lusted after it but the other ten percent belonged to a man who she screwed over-mentally and emotionally.
Did she really love Max? Yes…did she love Kyle…yes…. then who should she choose ?

“Kyle…. we-we really need to talk..”

“Ah, O-----kay,” he shakily replied, his eyes darted around the room nervously as he stood in the kitchen, scratching his bare arms.
“Um,” Tess bit her lips. How as she going to do this? The smell of something ripe and lime filled her senses. Did Kyle leave a half empty carton of milk around? Focus, Tess instructed. Her eyes watered and her throat closed up. How was she going to explain to Kyle that she had been half working for the other side and then left but then went back because something unknown was rotting her inside? That he was the vessel of Kivar while she was in contact with him before he chose Alex? How can you tell someone and not expect them to hate you?

They will
, Tess realized. But she had to do this before anything else happened, even if it meant her life. Maybe that won’t be so bad, her life? It’ll will be a redemption kind a thing and by her death a testimony to the whole redemption from the dark side.

Don’t get too Angel like, Tess realized, that’s why she liked Angel, the vampire with a soul with hundreds of years worth of evil and the rest of eternity to make it up.
“Tess,” Kyle interrupted her train of thoughts. “Whose line is it anyway is on in twenty minutes…I don’t want to miss it,”
“Okay,” she rubbed her hands together. “Have you had dreams about me….and Alex?”

Okay, wrong way to go but it will have to do.
Kyle rolled her eyes but she somehow touched something because he replied. “What does this have to do with?”
“You have?”
Kyle nodded. She felt a ticking sensation at the back of her neck, like a foot had gone to sleep.

Ignore it. Stay focused. Ignore the blood that is covering your legs or whatever it is…FOCUS!

“Listen to me okay?” Tess stood closer and touched his shoulders. “Go to Max and get him to heal your mind and you’ll understand what I’m sayin but EVERYONE IS IN GREAT DANGER. “Her eyes darted around her, she couldn’t have sworn she heard someone come in, she looked over…. nothing. She suddenly felt scared, and venerable as she confessed to Kyle. “Look, Kivar knows about the baby, tell Max to run!”
“What?” Kyle squealed. “What baby?”

“JUST LISTEN TO ME!” She yelled for his attention and he immediately focused, he let out a strangled sigh.
“JUST let them know that I’m sorry and hopefully one day they can forgive me and place flowers on my grave, I want a nice gravestone and white flowers and a statue of a dove and…”

But Kyle was gagging at her, his eyes were clouded and burning in shock. She looked down as saw a silver knifepoint protruding from his lower abdomen. The knife jutted out from his body in one slicing motion and Kyle fell to the ground, a small pool of blood started to seep through his clothes.

Alex stood there, his left hand covered in Kyle’s blood as he brought the kitchen knife up to his face and gaze wistfully. He waggled the knife in front of Tess’s face.

“Tut tut tut, Miss Harding. Look at what you have made me do?” He laughed, and with his tongue licked a one side of the blade clean and smiled as Kyle’s blood was edged around his lips. “Just for that I am going to have to kill you,” He shrugged. “Sorry my poppet you spilled the beans on my plan and know I have no use for you…well” He thought for a moment. “How about this, we have an all out epic battle and if you win I kill you but if you lose…. you will become my sex slave and forever be tortured at my will,” He sniggered. “Are we cool?” He looked at Kyle limp form and gently nudged it. “Looks like we have a voyeur, he’s still breathing but not for long,” He smiled with Alex’s goofy grin, he said simply “Let do it,” before lunged himself at Tess in one movement.
Oh shit, Tess realized as Alex’s form edged closer.

Chapter 27 A

Tess did the only thing she could think of: Dodge! She sprinted to the left just in time and Alex fell to the ground.

She crouched over Kyle’s limp body, “Kyle!” She heaved his heavy body, dragged him to the small corner and out of harms way. She reached for the phone of the table.
The plastic phone smashed into tiny pieces and became charcoal chalk- a pile of soot.

She turned around to see Alex’s glowing outstretch hand-he smiled.
“You know, every time I am in this body, use his energy, Alex slowly dies? Every minute a cell dies in his brain and another regenerates but thanks to you that mechanism is mutated. Without proper treatment…Alex will be a vegetable without me…”

Kivar’s glossy eyes changed from the blue green gems to pitch black, his face whitened and became a sickly yellow and black veins emerged around his eyes, nose and mouth, his mouth was tinted a dark blue.
Must get Max! She thought. He could heal Kyle…her cell phone? Where’s her cell phone? She found her phone; it was underneath the coffee table in the adjacent lounge room.

How am I supposed to get from here to there, she wondered. Her sense were hyper alert now, her legs in a fighting stance, ready to pounce. Kivar, in Alex’s body flexed his fingers.
He’s going to win, Tess realized. Her first priority was Kyle.
The only solution was mind warp-it could kill them both but it was the only chance of saving Kyle’s life.

Mind warping is like forming a picture in your mind and freezing it. Her powers were slowly fading away and very weak that it almost takes all her energy to picture a ball floating around the room. She was about to mind warp on an already unstable mind that was possessed by the most powerful alien of all time. Kivar was gearing up for another attack; she could feel his power in endless waves and could see a dark halo around him. Tess stared at him and pictured Nicolas-the spunky thirty-year-old rat. Short with spiked brown hair with a blue shirt and dark pants. She held the image and invaded apart of Alex’s brain.

‘Why’ a frightened voice chocked out. It echoed in her mind-she was apart of Alex’s brain. When she mind warped she took control of the mind, like possession, only instead of controlling the body she project the image she wanted them to see.

‘Why’ the voice sneered. A body, half decomposed, slimly veined sickly yellow rotting flesh and half of the body melted together, a stump of an arm on the left side lunged towards Tess and behind the oozing blood from the black cavity at the top was a head; Alex head-his eyes were gone and his head cracked open. ‘Why’ he continued to chant.
Its Alex, Tess realized. Or the minds way of projecting the tortured soul trapped inside.
Ignore it, Tess told herself, only she felt like vomiting at the horrible sight and the smell of rotting eggs filled her nose.
“Nicolas,” Kivar whispered to the empty space.
Finally, Tess thought, although the grotesque image of Alex half melted body was in front of her she tip toed around Kivar who blocked the entrance to the lounge room.

“You little minx!” He snarled, she felt his breath hot on her neck and one fluid motion his hot hand branded her right arm.
She tried to scream but her mouth had been sewn tight. He snapped her left hand; her bones crunched loudly and she felt her skin brake like elastic. The pale off yellow spear of jagged bone stuck out of her elbow and lay limp, wiggling further out of place with every heave of her trembling body. She could not feel her right arm anymore-it was burning lava. She couldn’t scream or wail in pain-she was frozen in mid movement with the sound of bones crunching and skin snapping open in her ears. Then it was like an egg had been smashed on her arm, the liquid oozed over her skin healing. Her right arm had been healed.
“Time for round two,” he laughed.

NO, she thought. Not this time and with one hard shove she hurled him across the room-his body smashed into the gun compartment and shards of glass embedded his skin. She only had three seconds before he would be up again. Ignoring the sharp carpet burn as she dove into the lounge room she grabbed her phone and hit speed dial for Max’s cell.
She didn’t care who answered. She could see Kivar walking towards her, pulling splinters of glass form his bleeding forehead. “MAX!!!!” she screamed until her lungs burned from little oxygen and Tess didn’t stop screaming as the cell phone was wrenched form her grasp.

Chapter 27B

Liz was still smiling to herself but dare not sneak a peak at Max. She couldn’t resist seeing him walk to the men’s room. He does look good in leather she thought, but he also looks good in briefs. Maria handed her a necklace.

“It’s Tess’s so look after it until she gets back,” Maria said. She was observing her with concern but that was far from Liz’s mind. She was off duty and was reading the paper when Max’s cell rang.
“Hello,” Liz answered.
Tess was screaming into the phone, “MAX!!!” She wrenched it away from her ear and winced. The whole diner stopped and looked at Liz. “Uh…crank call?”
“What is it?” Liz asked. All she could hear was Tess screaming and muttering to herself and then Alex’s voice, “That’s no way to treat your superior, Kyle’s still going to die”
The phone went dead.

Kyle? She wobbled off the stool, pilled Max and her belongings into her duffel bag and ran to the men’s room as Max came out.
“What?” he asked, concerned, he wrapped his arms around her. Liz was shaking.

Oh my god, she thought, Kyle…Kivar! Tess…
In all her life she has never heard the hint of fear in Tess’s voice before. It was always masked with sarcasm, greed and ambition but never fear. Liz didn’t want to admit it but something was wrong
She placed her hands in her pockets and touched the sold silver of Tess’s necklace.

She looked to her side to find Tess, scampering for shelter on the diner floor. Alex was behind her, holding the telephone handset high, his eyes blazing with amusement. Then, the image seemed to shimmer as her eyes cluttered with unshed tears, Liz was roused from her vision by Max, who was carrying her into the Staff room with his arms over her shoulder in protective mode. Liz then realized that she was holding a talisman she had pulled from her pocket. It was a red ruby heart shaped necklace on a silver thin chain. It was Tess’s; she left it at the Crashdown and Maria gave it to her to hold.

She looked down at the necklace and then remembered the vision. She must’ve have had a flash.
“Max,” Liz urgently tugged on his shirt. “Tess is in trouble,”
“What?” Max arched his eyebrows and seemed bereaved. “Is that what go you so worked up?”
“No,” Liz interrupted. “No…Max…Tess is in trouble,”
“What do you mean Tess is in trouble?” Michael entered fro the small grill kitchen just as the words left Liz’s mouth. Maria walked in from the staff entrance.
“That bimbo blonde? What happened now? Broke her nail?”
Liz ignored them, she knew what she was about to say was trouble but Tess and Kyle’s life were at stake.
“Kivar’s there and…Tess is in trouble. Kyle was stabbed. He’s going to die..Max..”

Chapter 28 A

It was Judgement Day. Kyle was in danger. Tess was in danger. Alex’s life was at Stake. There was no way around it. Max had to face Kivar. The only problem was that Kivar is in the body of his best friend, Alex. His sister’s soul mate. He had two lives in the palm of his hands and one of them might have to die in order for one of them to live.
“What?” Mara’s face paled at the thought of their friend facing the unknown wrath of Kivar.

“I’ll call Isabel,” Michael flipped out Maria’s phone from her book bag.
“How come we didn’t foresee...” Maria babbled, stretching out her hands in confusion.
“There’s no time for making out Maria and anyway it was…”Liz was about to say that their son forced them to have flashes when Liz was blind to things around her. However, Max knew Liz had no time to explain when Kyle and Alex’s life were at stake. Tess, as much as he cared about her he was unsure if he should risk his life to save her or let her body be fed to its master? He had a feeling that Tess was wokring with Kivar....but sometimes his instincts failed him.

Liz whispered to him while Maria kept babbling in his other ear. “Max despite what she’s done we have to save her. She knows too much,” .
Indeed, Max agreed with Liz silently. Tess knew too much for her to be handed over to Kivar. Foe or not he was going into battle.

There was one thing he knew, absolute: Liz would not go with him.
“ You’re not going Liz,” He turned to her, “Go with Maria to the carnival.”
“No,” Liz voice back, wiping the beads of sweat from her forehead, “I AM coming whether you like it or not,” The heat began to kiss the earth and every drop of air held dry heat. It was so hot that it began to affect Max.
“It could be a trap Liz. A ploy to not only put Tess and Kyle’s life in danger but yours as well. I can’t take that risk Liz,”

She seemed bereaved, then handed him Tess’s talisman. “Be careful,”
“Call Serena and get her to stay with you too,” Max turned to Michael, “Where’s Isabel?”
“Here Max,” Isabel replied, rushing through the staff room, still in her jogging outfit of a white cotton tank and grey sweatpants. “Let’s go,”

He took one last look at Liz and froze the image of her soft face and full lips. Just in case he didn’t come back.

“Look, before you go all high and mighty just think for a moment,” Michael wasn’t the logical type. He was usually the one doing the rash thing, like running head first at the first site of danger. At this moment Max didn’t care but only thought of his love to Liz, and their unborn son. As long as they stay out of danger everything will be okay. At lest Max could regain some strength to face Kivar.
“There’s no time for thinking when there are three lives are at stake,”
“Three?” Isabel paled. “Valenti is there?”
“No Isabel,” Max replied, keeping his eyes on the steering wheel. “Alex,”

_

“Maria, Get your car. We’re following them,”
“What?” Maria’s eyes were priceless. They bugged out like big marbles..” “Chica,” Tossing her long dark blonde hair to one side, “What happened to laying low?”
“I’m not gonna be someone’s doormat Maria. Kyle is in trouble and He needs my help,”
“You mean Kyle or Max?” Maria asked, arching her eyebrows in confusion. “And by the way if being a doormat means staying out of danger I would sign myself up cos doormats are supposed to feel unwanted.”

Liz swiped Maria’s keys off the table and headed out back. She had too many lives to protect. There was no time to sit back and huddle in darkness. War was at their doorstep and Max has to realise that being a member of the royal four meant that without her their powers would not withstand Kivar’s ultimate abilities.

“This is way beyond ...beyond,” Maria pulled out her cedar oil and breathed in. Liz rolled her eyes. “Maria, just sit tight,” Hauling Maria into the red jetta parked in the alleyway. Liz jumped in, pulled it into gear, and flipping out her cell in one fluid movement like a ballerina arching her legs into the sky. She dialled Serena’s number.

“Liz, you can’t drive and use your phone?” Maria shrieked as Liz barely missed the curb by Main Street. Liz sighed loudly, arching the pedals before swirling back into the right lane and continued driving.
“Maria, if there was such a law you would be jailed. Permanently,” Liz punched the mobile keys, watching the small pic image of a phone ringing. Serena picked up on the fifth ring.

“Hello?” Serena answered in her high breathy voice.
“Hey, Kivar’s at Kyle’s house and we are heading there. So be there,” Liz flipped the phone shut and concentrated on driving the car.
The white sigma right in front of her was humming at 40 in a 60 zone.
“Hey!” Liz punched the car horn and beeped continuously in rapid beats. “Move it buddy it’s not a funeral,” Why oh Why did I have to have Sunday drives on main street, Liz thought. Max could be dead by now.
No, Liz thought. Don’t think that. Her mind reverted to her first encounter with Kivar and her body shivered. No, he would never get the chance to touch her. Ever.

The white sigma remained stationed as the driver, mid thirties blonde was applying her makeup, not noticing the green lights flashing right in front of her. Or the loud noise Liz screamed at her in order for her to move.

“Road rage, Liz. Come on this is my mom’s Jetta. If anything happens to the car my life is over…”
“Alex’s life could be over if we don’t get there in time,” The sigma finally turned right just as the lights turned yellow and Liz zipped through, ignoring the loud horns form other cars as she speed through a red light.

“Alex?” Maria grabbed Liz’s shoulder, hard. Liz winced.
“Maria? Death grip?” Liz shoved her off and skidded onto maple tree lane.
Liz tried to ignore the noises Maria was making, or the loud raking sobs Maria cried out of confusion. Hearing her friend distress Liz thought to herself.

Maria has no idea…

Liz turned to face Maria while the car-steeling wheel turned right by itself. “Maria. I want you to stay in the car and if anything goes wrong I want you to drive as fast as you can. I promise to tell you everything but not now”

Liz brought her knees up at leaned against the car door as the car continued to drive without Liz placing a finger on the steering wheel.
“Liz,” Maria’s eyes were glued to the wheel turning into Kyle’s street and it stopped a few houses away. Liz could see Max’s jeep in the distance.
Liz touched Maria’s forehead in comfort and Maria closed her eyes and fell asleep. This was too much for her best friend right now. Liz touched Maria’s golden tresses and changed her hair to a dark brown and her skin tanned to a light mocha.

Liz’s first priority was to help Max and save Kyle and Alex. Second was Maria. Hopefully Serena was there by now as Liz shut the door. She changed Maria’s car to a dark green, switching the numbers around. Liz then decided to cloak the car, making it invisible to others. Making sure Maria was perfectly hidden Liz continued her journey on foot.
Keep her safe, Liz made a silent pray, remembering her earlier advice to bolt if in danger. Now, Liz took away those options but knocking her unconscious. Liz hoped that no one found her until she got back.
__

The whole world seemed to stop. You know? When everything stands still and even the sound of your own breathing hitches while your heart pumps erratically to cope with your emotions? Isabel’s heart constricted at her brother’s words.

No, Isabel thought. This has to be some kind of sick joke? Right? Its not even April fools yet but her brother never lied to her before. It was always her who did the deceiving.
Max parked the jeep a few houses away and got out of the car. This has to be a trap? Don’t enemies pick secluded locations for this kind of thing?

Wrong

Heroes usually died in both secluded and populated areas.
The hot heat of the sun vibrated around her, her sweat pants and shirt were damp from the sweat pouring from her skin pores. Her head was pounding, her body too tired to cope with the Roswell heat.
Max handed her water bottle in mild comfort. Something in his eyes told her he too was afraid but something or someone was pushing him to face Kivar.

Seeing this strength and vulnerability touched Isabel and managed to find some courage to fight alongside her brother to save Alex.
“But how did Alex end up being possessed by Kivar in the first place?” Michael asked as Max walked towards Kyle’s house. Isabel could hear faint noises in the distant and Tess’s pain but she wondered how the people around her? Isabel glanced at the kids playing hopscotch on the footpath or the elderly couple planting flowers. How come none of them heard the noises like she did? Tess's screams would surely wake up the whole neighbourhood.

“Why not? Alex was close to Isabel and Liz’s best friend. Why not strike at the enemy’s heart?”
“Wait? What’s this got to do with Liz?”
“Liz is one of us?” Michael said.
“What? When did this happen?” Isabel shrieked? From what she remembered. Ever since Liz slept with Kyle Max never spoke to her.
“No time to explain but I warn you. Kivar will use Alex to get to you. We go in and heal Kyle and Tess at the same time protecting ourselves from Kivar’s attack. Just remember, Alex has no say in what Kivar chooses to do with Alex’s body.”

There were in front of Kyle’s house and she immediately held onto her brother’s hand as his hand held Michael’s. In silent agreement the trio began to walk inside…

However, they came into contact with an invisible wall. Isabel placed her hand over the silver glittery surface. It was like touching a wall made of soap side but she could feel the power behind it.
“Stand back,” Michael told everyone and Max guided her like the younger brother he was to the side as a bright light beamed from Michael's right hand.

But it was no use. The bright white light was soaked up by dark blue veins, like in a human body and the wall became stronger, more solid and now looked like glass with swirls of dark metallic blue and amber.

“Don’t try to use your powers. There’s no use,” A voice silently mocked. It came out of nowhere but one they could hear it. It sounded so much like Alex when he was being sarcastic.
“I’ll open the door. I was expecting you anyway,”

The shield opened up, a door opened in front of Max and he looked both ways, holding up his left hand in case he had to use his shield.
All the while Isabel kept thinking. Were not ready. We haven’t trained at all. What am I supposed to do? Michael can blast and Max can heal and shield. I can only dream walk. I can’t mind warp like Tess. She felt so weak, like humans do in times of hardship. She hated this feeling. It was so strong it engulfed her; swallowed her whole.

Isabel walked into Kyle’s front door and her shoes touched the brown shag carpet and her noise immediately hitched upwards as the rotten smell of fish, rotten flesh, festering eggs and the smell of dried blood filled her lungs. Isabel retched inside and she could see the same expression on Michael and Max’s faces.

Despite the overpowering smell there was another thing that bothered her. It was deadly quiet. She could drop a coin and be able to hear the ping sound as it hit the floor.
And then, Isabel heard a slight rasp from underneath the shattered glass coffee table right next to her. Call it delayed reaction Isabel suddenly took in the whole room. The kitchen table was littered the blooded handprints and the couch had chunks of it ripped out and the inside soaked up blood that was now dried.

Isabel walked around the shattered glass table and found Tess face surrounded by a bed of shattered pine line glass shards. Half of her half was swollen, bruised and bleeding while her legs were soaked with blood. For now, Tess was still breathing and Isabel attentively reached for Tess.
“Check K-kyle,” Tess spat out, her left eye was covered in blood. But, her eyes told her to do as she said. So Isabel turned to Max and Michael, nodded and walked to the adjacent kitchen and found Kyle.
He was lying flat on his back, staring up at the ceiling. Pale and not moving Max crouched over him.

Isabel felt her heartache for Kyle. He was dying because of them.
“His aura is dull but still there. I just need a few minutes to erase the damage,”

“Well, Max. You don’t have a few minutes,” It was the same sarcastic, almost amused tone from before. Isabel stood next to Michael, shielding Max as he began to heal Kyle.

She wasn’t prepared to see his eyes again. Those amazing sea-blue-green eyes that held an inner sparkle when he spoke to her about his music. Or when he held her close and said things she needed to hear when she was feeling down. Who stuck with her when she flirted with other guys. Who always stood up for her and gave his heart when she wanted. Who she fell in love with at the high school prom.

He seemed taller than before. He seemed different. No longer honing in on the lean-meek character Isabel grew to love but now beared a sick pack and nicely toned muscles. His dark brown hair hung around his eyes and wisped behind his ears. There were faint traces of a three-day old bear but the dark silk shirt and a pair of black leather pants gave off this primal sexual appeal that Isabel was usually attracted to. However, something about this…unnerved her. She knew this wasn’t the same person she loved. His silver triskel necklace shone like the northern lights as he stood face to face with her.

“We finally met after all these years,” He said, smiling to reveal his goofy grin. A grin Isabel found addictive but now angered her. This wasn’t him. Although her hormones were buzzing with excitement she wouldn’t let her emotions get in front of her. Inside this man was a creature worse than hell. A man she supposedly loved on Antra and betrayed her entire family because of that. No, Isabel thought. Family comes first. Always. I’ll never betray Max like that. Never.

“Alex,” Isabel croaked . She couldn’t help it. Here she was, standing a few feet from the man she loved, the man she was told was dead and now here he was, alive. But it wasn’t him. He was someone inside, trapped against his will. I’m going to save him, Isabel declared. What ever it takes, I’m going to repay his devotion he had for me when I avoided him. I’ll save him to prove that I care.

“Hello to you too, Vilandra. But Honey,” Kivar said in Alex’s husky voice he always used when they would talk on the phone, late at night, “ Alex isn’t here anymore. It’s Kivar and Kivar has come to take you back home,”
“My home is here,” Isabel replied. Hurry up Max, she thought. Hopefully Max healed Kyle so they could face Kivar as one. Together.
“Well. You think that now but when I’m through with your pesky self-centred selfish brother, his idiot second commander and use his pregnant wife to reclaim the throne. You’ll see. That’s if…you want this body to survive. Vilandra,”

“My name is Isabel, and you are going to leave Alex’s body and do him no harm. I don’t not fear you,” Isabel spat out anything that came to her mind, anything to stop herself from thinking about Alex, her love for him and the pent up grief over his death. And the current grief over his mind prison Kivar did in order to get to her.

“I never want to hurt you my love but if that’s the way you want it,” Alex shrugged his shoulders and held up his hand . Isabel winced as a strong throbbing pain was suddenly, emitting from her mind. She clutched her forehead, trying to heal what ever caused to blender her mind into mush. Blood started to pour from her noise and dribbled from her fine chiselled chin. The salty taste of her own blood made her sick and yet she couldn’t take her eyes off the sheer intensity Alex’s unusual eyes had on her. Isabel wiped off the blood streak but it still poured freely. Isabel healed the blood noise but static still remained from her brain.

“That was just a demo, Vilandra,” Alex, no, Kivar was laughing at her with an amused expression. “Wanna another demo?”
He suddenly vanished into black smoke and reappeared behind Michael, pulled out a kitchen knife from his pocket and slashed Michael’s throat open in one clean swipe. Michael choked, clutching his hands on his throat and tried to heal.

“Ah, we''ll have none of that thankyou!” Alex rolled his eyes and placed his hand on Michael head. Michael rolled his eyes upwards and fell to the ground. The loud thud jolted Max from his healing. Sweat covered Max’s face and his breathing was erratic and harsh. He was visibly drained from healing Kyle, who wac begining to open his eyes.

Max didn’t have enough energy to heal Michael or Tess. Isabel realised.
“Now, Vilandra!” Alex stood behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist, clamping onto her like handcuffs, the knife slicked with Michael’s blood was pressed against her throat. She could almost feel the sharp cold metal making an incision into her trembling skin. It happened too fast. One second Alex, no....Kivar was in front of her. The next, Michael was unconscious on the floor, bleeding from the knife gash and now his arms were around her.
“Now, what will it be now? Vi-lan-dra?” Alex’s soothing voice echoed into the shell of her ear. She couldn’t control her feelings Alex’s presence evoked inside her.
This is the end……
