Chapter 11

Alec watched as Liz, Tess and Alex all ran from the party. Damn it. Then he saw Max. Max. Was Liz trying to get back with that big eared freak? Only one way to find out. Alec walked over to Max who was still staring in the direction where Liz and her friends had ran.

"Hey Max." Max turned to Alec. "Where did Liz just go?"

"I have no clue. We were just talking when Tess and Alex pulled her away. I think they had something to do." He was lying. They ran because they had seen him but Alec wasn't about to let Max know that.

"Oh. Well then I'll just see her at home." Alec turned to make a quick get away but was stopped when he felt someone grab his shoulder. Turning back, Alec saw that it was Max. "What's up?"

"Home? You'll see Liz at home?"

"Yeah. I'm staying with her." Alec gave Max a once over and saw that he was getting mad. "Why?" He smirked.

"In her house?" Max asked a little out of it.

"Yeah." Alec realized that he was losing ground with Liz if he stood her with Max. "Look, I really gotta go."

As Alec got outside, Max attacked him from the back. He hit him in his lip, his eye and then his stomach but Alec stood strong. Hit him, the little soldier in him said. Hit him hard. And that's what Alec did. When Max threw himself at Alec again, Alec side stepped him, swept his feet and stood over Max as he lay on the floor.

"I don't wanna fight you. So just stay down so I won't have to."

Whether he was drunk or just stupid, Max got up anyway.

"No. I love Liz and I won't let you have her."

"Fine." Alec put up his hands and with a 3 punch combo to Max's face and chest, Max was out. "Sorry man." Then Alec went after Liz.

"Are we far enough?" Tess asked as she and Alex slowed behind a jogging Liz.

"Yeah."

They had ran all the way to Alex's house, just making it as his parents walked out.

"Alex, what are you doing here?" His mom asked him. Then she noticed Liz and Tess. "Hello Liz." She gave Liz a quick hug before turning to Tess. "And who is this pretty little thing?"

"Mom, this is my girlfriend Tess. Tess, this is my mom, Reene."

"It's so nice to meet you Tess." Reene said as she gave Tess a tight hug.

"You to Mrs. Whitman."

"Mrs. Whitman? Call me Reene. Mrs. Whitman makes me sound old." Both Liz and Alex covered their mouths.

"Yeah mom. Um, we're just here to..."

"Oh you don't have to tell me. Actually, your father and I are on our way out. So stay as long as you want." Reene gave Tess another hug before walking to the car where her husband waited for her.

"Alex, your mom is so..."

"Weird?"

"Friendly?"

"Cool!" Tess said. "I wish Nasado was like that."

"Yeah. Um," Liz looked at Tess and then Alex. "Why don't you guys stay here? I'm just going to go for a walk."

"But Liz-."

"No Tess. I'm fine. You two...go crazy."

Liz walked away as Tess and Alex watched her.

"Do you think she'll be fine?" Tess asked full of concern.

"Yeah. Liz is tough. Plus I bet you 1 kiss that Alec is looking for her." Tess looked up at Alex.

"You're on."

Liz walked down Main street not noticing anything but the stars. It was such a beautiful night. A light breeze danced pass her as she rounded the corner into an allyway that led straight to her house.

As she walked, Liz thought of Alec. Was she right for running away from him or should she have just stayed to talk? Why was he even there? How did he even know that she was there? HOW? Did he listen to her and Tess' conversation? Or did someone else overhear it? Oh god no. IF Logan or Maxie had overheard the conversation then they would have-.

"What's a pretty little thing like you doing in a place like this?" Before Liz could answer, she felt a sharp pain to the back of her head and then total blackness.

Chapter 12

Alec could practically feel Liz as he walked down Main street. She was close but where was she?

"What's a pretty little thing like you doing in a place like this?" Alec heard with his advanced hearing. Then he heard someone fall and the speaker laugh.

"Do ya think a pretty little thing like this'll be a good lay?"

"To skinny if you ask me. But the clothes are something else." Clothes?

Alec turned the corner just in time to see two huge guys standing over a small body. Liz's small body. In blind fury, Alec beat the shit out of both guys before picking Liz up and bringing her home. He had to climb up her ladder so that no one would see them but it was too late. Maxie had round the street just in time to see Liz's body in Alec's arms.

"What the hell happened? What'd you do?" She snapped.

"Nothing. Can we talk about this in the room because us standing here with Liz's body looks a little suspious."

"A little? If Logan or their dad see her like this, you're done for it."

"I kind of know that so why don't you shut your trap and help me?"

"Fine but you owe me."

"Max!" Isabel yelled as she walked out of the party. "Max!"

"Uuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhh." Isabel heard. "Iz is that you?"

Isabel walked away from the party and saw Max sitting under a tree holding his hand over his eye. He was healing it.

"Oh my god. What happened?" Isabel tried to turn his face to her but he pushed her hand away.

"Don't."

"Why? You're my little brother."

"So. Let'sjust get the hell out of here."

"Why?"

"Because I don't want anyone to see me like this."

"How did you get like this?"

"Alec hit me."

"Alec? As in Liz's new boyfriend, Alec?"

"Yeah."

"Why would he hit you? Did you do something?"

"I just wanna leave, Iz. Come on." Max stood up and walked away leaving a very confused Isabel behind.

"I miss everything now."

Chapter 13

Liz woke up to voices outside of her room. It sounded like Logan and Alec but she couldn't be sure. Slowly, she got out of bed and walked over to her door.

"What do you mean she almost got raped?" Logan yelled. "I thought that she had gone to Tess' house for a sleep over?"

Oh, please don't tell him where I really was, Alec. He'll kill me if he knew.

"I guess she was coming home for some stuff and was attacked. Things like that happen you know?" Alec lied.

Thank you Alec.

"Not in Roswell they don't."

"That's a load of bullshit and you know it. Crazy shit happens everywhere. It's just that some people don't get as lucky as Liz did."

"How did you find her? I thought you said that you were going home?"

"I was-I mean I am but I was walking home from the bar, I heard these grunts and when I checked it out, it was Liz. I wasn't going to check it out. Luckily I did or else you would be in the hospital or the morgue right now." Liz gasped. "Those guys were 3 times her size. She was out when I got there, so imagen what they would have done to a girl like her."

He had saved her but he was leaving. Why? If he didn't want to be with her then why be so sweet? God! Alec was just like every other guy Liz knew. He was sweet to her but refused to let the world know how he really felt. Why the hell did she always get those type of guys?

"Yeah sure, Logan. I'm just going to go get some sleep. I'm wiped and I'm sure Liz needs something." Damn.

Liz ran back to bed and pulled the covers over her head. Maybe if she evened her breathe that Alec would think she's asleep and-.

"I guess you're better." Liz slowly turned under the covers.

"Yeah, just a little headache." Silence. "Alec, I just wanna say-."

"No problem Liz. It was nothing." Alec sat on the other side of the bed. Liz looked around the room but his bed was no where to be found.

"I thought you said that you're wiped." Alec smirked.

"So you were listening in on the conversation, huh?" Liz blushed.

"Yeah kind of." Alec's eyes softed. "Alec, I'm sorry about how I acted yesterday. I didn't mean to blow up on you. I should have tried to reason with you but I was so mad at being rejected again that-." But Liz never got to finish what she had to say. Instead, Alec covered her mouth with his own and kissed her with all he was worth.

"So are you really okay?" Maria asked Max for the millionth time.

"He said he was fine the last ten times you asked him, Maria. I'm sure he's still fine." Michael snapped.

"God, Michael. I was just being a good friend cause that's what friends do. You'd know that if you a good friend." Maria yelled back.

"Guys please, not now." Isabel said as she walked over to Max. "Now tell me what happened?"

"I was talking to Liz at the party when Alec walked in. She sort of paniced but didn't leave until Tess and Alex grabbed her and fled. When Alec asked me about where she was, I lied and said that she was just leaving."

"So he hit you?" Maria jumped in.

"No."

"Let him finish." Michael snapped.

"Shut up Michael."

"Maria, this is not-."

"Guys!" Isabel snapped. "Shut the hell up."

"Thanks." Max looked down at his hands. "So anyways, we talked and everything was fine until he said that he'd see Liz at home. I guess I just snapped because once we out outside, I tackled him from behind and just started hitting him. But he once he got up, he hit me like 3 times and I was down."

"What the hell Max? I thought that we were to cut all ties. You can't just go crazy whenever you see Liz with another guy." Isabel yelled.

"Yeah, that's just stupid." Michael added.

"I know." Max said feeling stupid. Maria saw it and automatically jumped to his defense.

"But he loves her. You guys can't stop that no matter what you do." Maria looked from Michael to Isabel. "Love is not just something you can turn on and off. There's so much more to it." She quickly stood up before the tears could fall. "I gotta go. Max I'll see you later."

Then she was gone. Max turned to Michael but Michael was already in the kitchen.

"You're not going to go after her?" Max asked.

"Why should I?" Michael opened his refrigerator and pulled out a soda.

"Didn't you just hear what she said? She practically threw herself at you." Michael turned to Max.

"We're here to talk about your problems, not my love life."

"Whatever. I gotta go."Max shot up, grabbed his jacket and walked to the front door.

"Go? Max, go where? Where are you going to go?" Isabel asked, standing up.

"I don't know. For a walk I guess. I just-I gotta clear the cobwebs." Then he was gone.

"Great. This just keeps on getting better." Isabel said as she dropped herself onto the couch.

(The next day)

"So you guys just slept in each other's arms?" Tess asked Liz as they walked through the mall together.

"Yeah. It was so peaceful. All we did was lay next to each other when we were too tired from making out."

"But I thought that he was leaving?"

"Me too but he said that he just said that to get Logan off his back. My big brother can be sort of a pain in the ass. I love him but I can't always be myself around him."

"So what are you and Alec going to do now?" The girls had just walked into the food court.

"I don't know but it's kind of fun not to know." Liz said as she walked over to her favorite food place. "So what about you and Alex? I haven't seen or heard from either of you since I left you at his house." Tess' cheels turned the brightest pink Liz had ever seen. "No. You didn't?"

"Yeah we did. The thing is, Alex wasn't a virgin."

"Oh my god. He wasn't?"

"Nope." Tess said with a smile.

"I know it's rude but was it Isabel?"

"No." Tess said shaking h er head really quick. "It was this girl at summer camp. She was in the girl's camp across the pond and I guess they just...you know."

"Huh?" Liz paid for her food and then so did Tess. "So how was it?"

"Amazing. The first time it hurt."

"The first time?" Tess nodded. "How many times did you guys do it?"

"A good girl never kisses and tells." Both girls broke out laughing, neither noticing Max watching them from across the court.

"So what's up with you and Liz?" Alex asked Alec. They were at the basketball court, Alec playing while Alex watched him.

"Why?"

"Well, Tess told me that you two had a little falling out?"

"Yeah but I fixed that." Alec threw the ball and shot it in. "Yes."

"How?"

"I don't man." Another shot, another dunk.

"How do you feel about her?" Alec grabbed the ball.

"Are you going to hold my hand and asked me if I'm feeling okay now?" Alec joked taking another shot.

"No. But Liz is like a sister to me and I know that you like her. So why don't you just admit it?" Alec shot another ball but this time, it missed.

"Something happened and the girl that I was in love with died. I don't want that to happen to Liz."

"What happened?"

Alec let out a deep sigh. "My job."

Chapter 14

"What do you mean 'your job'?" Alex asked as he walked over to Alec. "What's your job?"

Alec looked at everything but Alex. Something was up and Alex knew it. But what? The way Alec clammed spoke volumes.

"Alec?"

"Look, I'ma about to tell you something that I've never told anyone else." Alec looked around nervously. "But you gotta promise me that you won't tell anyone."

"I promise." Alex laughed but when he saw how serious Alec was he stopped. "Dude what?"

"Well it all starts at a place called Manticore."

Liz walked through the doors of the Crashdown just as the dinner rush came. She ran to the back, got dressed and then came out all the while saying sorry to everyone.

"Liz!" Logan called from the kitchen. Liz bit her lip trying not to laugh at how ridiculous her brother looked.

"Yea?"

"Where have you been? Dad has been going crazy looking for you."

"I was out with Tess." Logan's eyebrow rose. "We went to the mall and then hit a nail salon." Then Logan shook his head. "What?"

"I thought that you hated Tess?" Liz looked guilty.

"I did but-."

"But then you got to know her, the real her, just like I said by the way, and now you two are practically inseperable. Did I leave anything out?" Liz rolled her eyes.

"No but did you have to say all of that? Yeah I was unfair to her but now we're friends. So just drop it." Liz put on her best 'puppy' face. "Please."

"Oh no. The 'puppy' look." Maxie said as she walked pass Liz with an apron on. "What'd you do dat you want Logan ta forgive you?"

"Nothing. Just that I was right about Tess."

"Tess? Tess? Tess?" Maxie tapped her index finger against her lip. "Who is-? Oh yeah. That blond chick Liz's been hanging out wit. How were you right about her?"

"Just that last spring, Liz hated her for no reason." Logan teased Liz.

"It wasn't for no reason, Logan." Liz said while smiling. Then she turned to Maxie. "Look. At first, I thought that Tess was trying to get in between me and Max but then I found out that she doesn't even like Max. She's totally into Alex."

"So now that you know that she doesn't want Max, you're cool with her?" Logan asked.

"Well when you say it like that it makes me sound shallow."

"How do you want me to say it?"

"I get chu." Maxie said.

"You do." Liz and Logan said at the same time.

"Yeah I do. Liz felt threatened but then realized that Tess was, is more of an ally than an enemy." Maxie nodded. "Totally understandable."

"You see." Liz smiled.

"It was the same with me and Logan." Liz's eyes popped.

"Did I just hear you right? You and Logan fought before you got together?"

"Oh look. Customers." Maxie walked away.

"You so gotta tell me." Liz said going after her.

"Great. Just what I need. More 'them' time." Logan said as he watched his baby sister and girl friend chatting.

Chapter 15

Liz couldn't stop giggling. Maxie had told her everything. From meeting Logan to them falling in love. All the little arguements, all the quiet moments and then she told Liz about Manticore. Of course, Liz had listen carefully throughout it all until Max started making jokes.

"I can't believe that happened. She actually thought that she could have him after everything that has happened between you and Logan?" Liz giggled.

"Look Asha is very determined, Liz. She will stop at nothing to have your brother, so when I was gone, I guess she thought that she thought that she was in the clear."

"But I wish I was there to see her face. It would have been nice to see her eyes pop out of her head seeing you and Logan.....Eeeeeeeewwwwwwww. I don't even want to know WHAT you too were doing." This time, Max was the one to laugh.

"So what are my two very favorite woman talking about?" Logan asked as he walked over to their table.

The restuarant had finally slowed down and then finally died at 10:30 when they had closed up. First, both girls cleaned and listened to music while Logan cleaned the kitchen. Then they started talking. Now it was midnight and they were still all in the cafe with the lights on and the curtains open.

"Oh, so now we're your two favorite woman when I thought that you only love computers and cleaning?" Liz joked.

"Haha. Very funny. So what HAVE you two been talking about? It's past Liz's time to be in bed." Logan said as he looked down at his watch.

"Hey what am I? A baby? I don't have a curfew!"

"You do when it's a school night." Jeff said as he walked into the dinning room.

"Sorry daddy, we just sort of lost track of time." Liz smiled at her father. "I'll be up in a minute. I just wanna say goodnight to Logan and Max." Liz finished giving him her biggest puppy dog eyes and pouting her lip.

"Fine." Jeff said not being able to stay mad at his little girl. "But as soon as you are done,-."

"It is up to bed with me." Liz finished for him. "Thank you daddy." She got up and gave him a kiss and pushed him to the back down. When he was gone, Liz turned to a shocked Logan and an impressed Max. "What?"

"No wonder you get away with everything. You butter him up and he turns to puddy in your hands."

"Yep."

"That's cheating."

"No it's not."

"Yes it is."

"It's only cheating cause you can't do that."

"Hell yea."

"You know," Max finally spoke up. "You should be happy she doesn't do that to every guy she meets because then you would have more problems on your hands." Max joked but Logan's mouth dropped open.

"You're so right. I'd be beating guys away from this place with a hammer to get them to leave her alone." And as soon as it left his mouth, Logan regetted it because right then and there, both Max and Liz burst out laughing.

Alec sat in Liz's room on his bed, staring at the ceiling. He had told Alex everything and expected the worst but all he got was advise.

"Man, if everything you're telling me is true then not only should you try and grab life by the horns but you should also try and forget about the past. Manticore is gone and they are never coming after you again. Yeah what happened sucks but think of it this way. How were you before you met Rachel?"

Alec had to think about that at first. Yeah he had been a solider but he knew what Alex had meant when he asked him that question. Who was he before he met Rachel? And to tell the truth, Alec really didn't like who he was. He had been an asshole and had only done what he was told. Now he was free to do and be whoever he wanted to be. So why was he so afraid? He turned to Alex.

"I was a leader and did as I was told."

"And now?"

"I'm whoever I want to be and I follow my own wants." Alex chuckled.

"You see. You already put everything behind you."

"Then why is it that I can't seem to open up to Liz lilke she has with me?" Alec questioned in a low voice.

"Liz open? Ha." Alex joked but Alec didn't understand. "Dude, Liz is just as afraid of what she is feeling for you as you are of what you are feeling for her."

"What? Why?"

"Because her ex kind of screwed her up." Alec looked shocked but what Alex was about to tell him was more than he would ever believe. "He kept on telling her that he loved her and that they were soulmates but then he would break up with her for the littlest things. First it was because she threw him off balanced. Then it was because he 'wanted' to keep her safe. Of course, Liz held on to the thought that they were meant to be, so she was there for him no matter what. Even after he kissed Tess in the rain." Alec looked shocked at first but then he heard the anger in Alex's voice.

"Dude, were you into her when that happened?"

"No but it just bugs me that he wripped Liz's heart out while playing with Tess'. He kept telling Tess that they could never be together, that he loved Liz but then all he would do is stare at Tess whenever she was in the same room as he was. I know that he likes her. I mean how can you not? She's beautiful, funny, smart and she can...." Alex looked a little lost in his thoughts when Alec finally looked at him. Then he snapped his fingers in front of Alex's face.

"And she can what man?" Alec asked, now very interested in what Alex was saying.

"She does this thing with her tongue that just-."

"Alrighty then." Alec interrupted. He so didn't need to hear THAT.

"Well, anyways. Max had went so far as to try and get with Tess when Liz was in Seattle."

"What? But I thought that Nancy said that all Max did was pine over Liz while she was gone?"

"You talked to Mrs. Parker about Liz?" Alex asked, now shocked.

"No. I overheard her talking to Maxie about it when they were in the kitchen."

"So is Maxie like you?"

And the conversation moved on to Maxie but what Alex had said about Max pissed him off. He had used Liz over and over again, breaking her heart and probably making her feel like shit everytime. Right now, Alec couldn't even think straight. If he even saw Max-.

"Liz are you there?" A male voice called in through the window. Then came Max. "Liz?"

"Nope. Just your worst nightmare." Alec said before tackling Max to the floor.

Chapter 16

"I can't believe he did this." Maxie said as she sat across the cafe with Logan to watch the other Max. "He must really have pisssed Alec off."

"I can't believe no one heard him." Liz said as she stood on the other side of the counter.

"I can't believe you and Alec are an item. That is it. He is going to sleep on the couch for now on." Logan snapped but niether girl paid him any mind. They were both still fixed on what happened upstairs.

Liz walks into her room and sees Alec hitting something. Then she looks closer and sees that it's someone.

"What are you doing?"

"Now he'll think twice." Alec said before slamming his fist down.

"Think twice? Get off of whoever he is." Alec rolled his eyes but did as he was told. "Oh my god." Liz rushed to Max's side. "What an idiot." Then she looked at Alec with concern in her eyes. "What happened?"

"I heard what he did to you and I guess I flipped. It's just, I hate to see you hurt and when Alex told me-."

"Alex? Great." Liz stood up and walked over to Alec. "You're right. He did hurt me but beating the shit out of him won't fix what he did. It'll just get him sent to the hospital and you to jail." Alec let out a breath he didn't even know he held.

"I guess you're right." He rested his head against hers. "I was just so mad when I heard the story, that I couldn't really see straight. And then I heard his voice and-."

"Shh... Don't worry about it. Let's just-."

"Liz I heard-." Maxie and Logan came running into Liz's room only to find Liz and Alec wrapped up in each other's arms and Max on the floor.

"What the hell is this?" Logan yelled.

"Not now, big bro. One mess at a time." Liz said.

And she had meant it. First calm down Alec, then call Michael to pick up Max and finally, deal with big bro and conquences. Suddenly there was a knock on the front door.

"That has got to be Michael." Liz said as she walked to the front door and sure enough there stood Michael and Isabel. She unlocked the doors and let them in. "He's over there."

"Damn Liz." Michael almost yelled. "What the hell happened to him?"

"No clue. I found him like that outside on the floor. He must have been under my ladder when someone attached him." She lied perfectly.

"I always knew he was stupid enough to get his ass beat. He never listens to me." Isabel snapped. Then she walked out with Michael carrying Max behind her.

"Bye now." Liz locked the front door and turned to get what ever she had coming from Logan.

"Liz, I-." But Maxie stopped him.

"Why don't we do this tomorrow? I mean we are all tired and Liz does have school tomorrow." Logan looked at her and she gave him her best puppy dog eyes.

"Okay fine." Liz tried not to smile. "Go to bed, Lizzie. Tomorrow, we'll deal with this."

"Okay." Then she was gone.

Chapter 17

Liz woke up to the sound of water running in her bathroom and knew that it had to be only one person, Alec. Alec. God what the hell was she going to do about him? It had only been a couple of days and already she felt like she was falling for him. What? Was she stupid? Did she want to get her heart stomped on? He was gonna leave in about a week in a half or so. Did she really think that he would stay with her? Even now that Logan and Maxie know about them? Yeah right.

Liz rolled over and sat up. She wasn't stupid, she was just having some fun.

"Sweetheart, you have to get ready. It's almost 8 and Tess and Alex are already waiting for you downstairs." Nancy called through the door.

"Okay mom." Liz said as she got up. "I'm be out soon."

Instead of doing her morning routine, Liz just threw on a red shirt and soem black cargo kapris with her red heels. She may not be able to keep him forever but she sure was gonna live in the moment.

"Hey Alec, you decent?" She asked but before he could answer her, she walked in. "Sorry, gotta brush my teeth. School." She smiled when Alec looked at her in shock. "What?"

"Nothing." Alec said but his eyes never left hers in the smokey mirror.

"Good." Liz then brushed her teeth all the while watching Alec stare at her. When she was done, she walked over to him and gave him a kiss she knew he would never forget. "See you after school." Then she was gone.

Alec couldn't believe what Liz had just done. First she had walked into the bathroom with that outfit on and then that kiss. What was she trying to do? Make him make her stay home from school? He was hard just thinking about the way her eyes stared into his as he watched her brush her teeth. Her make-up was simple but damn it was hot.

"Alec!" He heard someone yell. It was probably Logan. He knew that he'd be pissed off to find out that he and Liz had something going on. And Alec had full intenstions to let him know that. The only thing that bothered him was Maxie.

Would she kill him now that Logan knew? Yeah she had already known but that still didn't mean that she was okay with it. She could have just held back. Alec swallowed the lump in his throat. Well there was no time like the present to find out what she was going to do.

"Coming." He yelled back as he got out of the tub and walked over to the bedroom door. "Yeah?" He asked as he stared into the eyes of a very pissed off older brother.

Liz and Tess laughed at the joke Alex was telling them, none of them noticing the rest of the Pod squad watching them.

"I'm telling you, it was like I was being hit by a ton of bricks." Max said as he watched his ex laugh harder.

"And Alec was hitting you?" Isabel asked as she tried to keep the jealousy out of her tone. Alex had just wrapped his arms around Tess' waist and pulled her closer to him.

"Yeah. I went to talk to Liz but he was there and he was pissed for no reason."

"Why go to Liz's when you knew that Alec would be there?" Maria asked. Her back was to Liz and them and she was totally oblvious that they were there.

"I thought that he was lying. I didn't know Liz would just let anyone into her bedroom."

"Anyone or someone who isn't you?" Michael asked. Frankly he was happy for Liz, Tess and Alex. Liz had done so much for them only to find out that she wasn't suppose to be with Max. Tess had only wanted a people to call family and they had turned on her and Alex. Well Alex deserved someone who liked him for who he was and didn't use him like Isabel had been doing.

"What are you saying Michael?" Max snapped.

"All I'm saying is that now that they're happy, I think we should leave them alone. I mean, they're not bothering us. Let's let them be." Michael said as he popped a fry into his mouth.

"BUt Michael-." But Max was cut off by the bell. "We'll finish this later." Right now he had bio with Liz and he wanted to know more about Alec.

Chapter 18

Liz walked straight to the bio teacher and asked if she could be paired up with Tess instead of Max because they were having problems and she didn't want it to get ugly. Of course, Ms. Harding said yes and smiled at Liz.

"Stay strong. Men aren't everything." She said before turning back to the chalk board.

"What was that about?" Tess asked as she and Alex walked up behind Liz.

"We're lab partners." Liz told her.

"That's great." Tess smiled. Then she turned to Alex. "See you after class, stud."

"You got it, hot momma." And Liz couldn't help but smile.

Who would have thought that Tess and Alex would be so good together? Not her and by the looks from everyone in the school, niether did they. But they just completed each other. They just fit and Liz was so glad that it happened when she and Tess cleared the air between them.

"Everyone, take your seats." Ms. Harding yelled. "Take your seats."

Liz and Tess quickly did what she said as Alex walked to the back where Maria was waiting for him. The look on her face told him that she had something to say but wouldn't.

"What?" He finally asked her after Ms. Harding said what was to be done.

"What, what?" Maria rambled.

"Look, I know you have something to say because you have that look on your face, so just say what's on your mind." Alex told her and by the way her eyes popped, he had been right. Maria did have something on her mind.

"Nothing. It's just....how much do you and Liz know about Tess? I mean, she could just be playing this role to get on your good sides since you and Liz are kind of the glue to the disfunctional family we made last year." Alex smirked.

"Trust me, I know Tess and so does Liz. She's being herself but none of you can see that. Just stop trying to break what we have. It's done and over with. We're good, so so should you guys be."

"What do you mean you 'know' Tess?" Maria asked, obviously not hearing one thing Alex just said.

"I just do. Drop it." Alex said getting back to the lab in front of him.

He wasn't going to let anything happen to what he and Tess had. He really like her and so did his family. In the week that they've been together, he's learn so much about Tess that he never thought even exsisted. She was smart, funny and loved both music and computers. Just like him. It was like they were made for each other and nothing would stop that.

Isabel walked through the halls of school. She had to find a way to get Alex to break up with Tess. It was the only way that she'd ever be able to go back to normal. All that thinking about what they must be doing drove her crazy and then the dream walking didn't help anything either. She knew how they felt and it was all real. No mind-warps, no lies, no nothing. Tess was falling for Alex and Alex for Tess. Both she and Max were now a distant memory.

A tear fell from Isabel's eye just as she passed Kyle. Not wanting him or anyone else see her cry, Isabel ran out of school. She could care less what everyone thought about her cutting. She needed time to be alone and now was that time. With alittle help from her powers, Isabel hot wired Max's car and drove into the desert. There she sat and cried. She cried everything out till there was nothing left. No tears, no hurt, no pain, no feeling. She was completely numb. She didn't even hear the car pull up behind her or feel the men pick up her tired body and carry her into their car. She felt nothing but emptiness.

Chapter 19

Krit and Zack stood in front of the Crash down with Syl behind them. She was holding the blond they had found out in the desert. Zack thought that it would have been better to just leave her there but something about the way she looked reminded him of Tinga. She looked broken just like Max had describe Tinga and he couldn't help himself.

"I think this is where she is." Zack stated. Just then, a short brunette who looked just like Max walked out from the back of the cafe. All 3 trangeneics made their way in, with only one person in mind.

"Look at that." Tess whispered to Liz. Liz had just come out from the back and needed some time away from Alec. He had attacked her once they were alone in her room. She could still feel his soft lips on her own and his warm body pressed against-. "Liz? Liz? Are you okay? You look a little flushed. Are you okay?"

"Yeah." Liz told her. "I'm totally cool. What did you say before?"

"Nothing, juss these really hot guys are soming this way and I think they're coming-."

"What guys?" Liz turned just as the blond and brunette sat in front of her. "Can I help you?"

The brunette smiled. "I sure hope so." He flirted and Liz felt her cheeks get warm.

"So what would you like?"

"What is your destination?" The blond demanded more than asked.

"What?"

"Your destination? What is it?" Liz's eyes popped open while Tess tried to help her.

"Dude, what is your deal? She doesn't-"

"No, Tess. I got this. Um, Max." Seconds later, Maxie walked through the back door with the same ugly uniform on as Liz and Tess.

"Yeah." Then she looked up and was more shocked than anything else. "Zack, Krit, Syl. What are you guys doing here?"

Chapter 20

"So what ARE you guys doing here?" Liz asked from next to Krit.

Maxie had brought Zack, Syl and Krit upstairs so they could talk openly since Liz's parents were out for the day. At first sight, Logan was freaked out to see Zack but Krit told him not to worry. Something happened at the farm that gave Zack back all his memories but fried those that said for him to Logan. Liz was a little taken back about it but quickly let it slide since she saw Maxie so happy.

"We were actually looking for an X-5? She was said to be living in Roswell. Don't know how they found her because she didn't do anything." Zack spoke in an even tone. He didn't like that he had to let in anther human into what they were doing but by the smell of it, both Max and Alec liked her. Alec more than Max.

"That's why we picked up that one. Knew she wasn't her but didn't want the goverment to come and take her away because they thought she was a druggy." Krit told them. He smiled again at Liz as she gently brushed a piece of hair out of Isabel's face.

"Thanks. I wouldn't really call her my best friend but I still kind of think of as a friend." Liz said turning to him. "Where did you find her again?"

"In the middle of the desert." Syl answered for Krit who was apparently too engross in Liz's mouth to hear what she said. Great, she thought to herself. More compation. Syl rolled her eyes as she casually walked over to Max who was sitting with Logan.

"Do you know what the X-5 looks like or who she even is?" Maxie asked as she stood up.

"No. All we know is that she lives here."

"That can be anybody." Liz said as she followed Maxie and stood up. "I mean, if you've lived here all your life like I have then you can easily see who is a tourist and who isn't but the only tourist are you guys." Everyone looked to Liz. "This is down time in Roswell. You guys here are our only tourist. If she was a tourist, we'd know but I don't think she is. Maybe this X-5 is a local. I mean she has to be aleast a few years older than me, right?"

"Yeah?" Zack asked slowly.

"Then we see who was the tourist was what?" Liz thought about it. "9, 10 years ago?"

"And how do you say we do that?" Syl almost snapped.

"Sheriff department files and motel files. I mean we only 2 motels here in town, so it can't be that hard." Liz told them.

"I like it." Maxie smiled.

"But what if that doesn't work?" Zack asked. He didn't know if he should be jumping to this.

"Then there is always Logan. He can break into the files on the computers."

"And if there is nothing on the computers since most of them have been wiped out?"

"Well we do have like 5 specially trained, cat burlars or did you forget?" Logan asked.

"I'm in." Krit said.

"Me too." Maxie smiled.

"Hey, if I'm not doing anything later, then I'm totally in." Alec said looking at Liz. She licked her lips already feeling his lips on her own.

"Ew." Logan stated.

"Whatever, I'm in." Syl said.

Zack looked around at everyone and only nodded. He knew he was out numbered and now with Manicore gone, they didn't have to listen to him. So if he walked away, his family could get in trouble.

"Great." Liz said as she rocked back and forth. "Now we have to get back to work. Come on Maxie."

Max groaned as she followed Liz out the door and down the stairs.

Alec sat by the counter, watching Liz as took her orders. She looked so good in that tiny uniform she had to wear and the anntenna only made her even sexier. Everytime she passed him, she would unknownly smile or run her hand over his shoulders making him want to just grab her and take her upstairs right then and there.

"So, you and Liz huh?" Krit asked as he dropped next to Alec.

"Yeah. We are." Alec took a slip of his soda. "What about you and Syl?" Krit just smiled.

"We're family. It's different. It would be too weird." Alec gave him a weird look. "What?"

"Zack is totally into Maxie."

"No he isn't."

"Yeah he is. He's doing it now." Krit turned to see Zack and Syl in the corner and sure enough, Zack was watching Maxie's every move.

"Wow. I never noticed. That's...." Krit turned just in time to see the blond Liz called Isabel walk out of the back room.

"Oh no. Here she comes." Alec said but Krit didn't understand what he meant until he saw a tiny blond go up to her. Using their enhanced hearing they listen to the little thing that was going on.

"Hey Isabel. You okay? I say the guys bring you in. Why would you go to the desert?" The tiny blond asked with concern but Isabel wasn't having it.

"Why? Cause I wanted to. Sorry I didn't tell you but I didn't know that you were my mother." She snapped.

"I....I....I, I, I."

"I, I, I, I. I gotta go. Bye." Then Isabel stormed out of the cafe.

"What a bitch." Krit heard Alec whisper but his eyes were still on the small blond. She was still in the same spot but a tall, lanky kid her age with brown came over and pulled her into his arms.

"That's what she gets for trying to be nice to her." Krit turned to see another blond with long curly blond hair walk over to them. She was wearing the same uniform as Max, Liz and the blond who had talked to Isabel. "You want anything else, Alec?"
She asked.

"No Maria but maybe Krit here might. Krit?" Alec turned but Krit was gone. "I guess not."
