Chapter twelve

“Sami?” someone knocked on the door. It had been a few hours since the park and Sami had with drawn even further, shutting herself in her room. Not even Kyle or Rath could get through to her.

“Sami? You need to eat” Ava’s voice said and Sami just shook her head at the thought of food,

How can I eat at a time like this? She thought my baby boy’s dead and so is one of my best friends. And to top it off, a shape shifter was posing as her and we didn’t even notice. She shook her head.

There was a click and the door opened. In the doorway stood everyone. Sami just turned on her other side so she faced the wall. Everyone exchanged glances and sighed. Rath moved passed everyone and walked to the bed. He sat down and removed his shoes and jacket. He then lay on the bed behind her and spooned her body. Kyle then moved to the bed and sat by their feet. He pulled his sisters shoes off and pulled them into his lap, massaging them.

“It’s all my fault.” Sami spoke for the first time since the park. Rath looked over his shoulder at the others, his expression sad.

“If I hadn’t have run off, or even confronted her, then maybe…”

“You cant live on what ifs.” Zan said from the doorway and Sami just shrugged.

“What about Rath? He lost josh as well.” Everyone held their breath, but Sami didn’t reply.

“Don’t you think your hurting him as well?”

“Zan.” Rath said in a warning tone,

“No, Rath, I'm sorry, but I cant see her do this to the two of you, I know I'm butting in. but she’s not the only person that lost josh.” Tears where streaming silently down her face, unknowingly to everyone else.

Sami sat up and climbed over Rath. She didn’t even bother to pull on her shoes. She just pushed past everyone and raced out the door.

“Well done Zan,” Liz said sarcastically as the door slammed. Sami ran down the street and into the park sobbing. She knew she was hurting Rath but she couldn't help it. It was instinct. She had done it when she mother had died, though after a few days, she had come out her shell.

“Aw, did poor little Sami loose her baby?” Sami spun round and saw Maria standing there, her hands on her hips.

“Do you know what it’s like?” Sami asked and the shape shifters eyebrows rose, not expecting that question.

“How what's like?” she sneered and Sami turned her red eyes on her.

“What it’s like to loose a child? Someone you love unconditionally.” The shape shifter shook her head shocked to the core at the pain in the girl’s eyes.

“Didn’t think so.” She said. The shape shifter shook her head and walked over to the girl, putting her hands on her head to get into her mind to get the information. Sami didn’t even notice. But instead, ‘Maria’ was pulled into Sami pain. It was so great, the shape shifter lowered her hands, falling to the ground, tears rolling down her face. Sami looked down at the shape shifter.

“You killed him. Now you know how it feels,” she said. As she lifted her hand, she heard footsteps running towards them. she looked into the shapeshifters face and still saw her bast friend, with tears running down her face.

“I can’t do it.” She whispered, the shape shifter vanished as Rath appeared. She collapsed to her knees and started to cry.

“Sami.” he whispered and raced towards her.

“I couldn't do it!” she sobbed as Rath gathered her into his arms.

“Couldn’t do what?”

“I couldn't kill her!” Sami wailed and Rath frowned, shushing her and letting her sob in his arms.

“She killed him but I couldn't kill her! Why?” she looked up into her boyfriends eyes.

“Why Rath?” Rath pulled her closer, understanding.

“Because she looks too much like Maria and you loved her.” Rath soothed and Sami sniffed.

“Ok?” he asked and she nodded, lifting her head from his shoulder.

“Sorry, Zan was right. I was being selfish. I'm not the only one that lost josh.” She whispered and Rath shook his head.

“I understand.” He said, kissing her forehead.

“Let’s go back.” She said and they walked back to her fathers’ house.

“Sami.” Liz shot up and hugged her friend.

“Sami had a little visit from our local shape shifter.” Rath said as she hugged Kyle.

“What? Are you ok?” Zan asked and Sami explained what happened.
“She didn’t get anything?” Max asked and everyone glared at him.
“What? I can see she's ok!” he said and they all turned to Sami
“No. She didn’t. It was like, she could feel the pain I was going through,” she answered, leaning against Rath and yawning, closing her eyes,

”What is up with you?” Nicholas asked when he spotted her laying on the floor tears streaming down her face,
“She’s in so much pain.” She muttered, sniffing.
“Who is?” she turned her tear stained face up to him.
“When I connected with her to find out the information, it was like a wall of pain was there, and it transferred into me and now all I feel is this void, this empty space where her child should have been.” The females’ face turned back towards the floor,
“You have her emotions?” he asked stunned,
“No. She still feels, its just like, I can feel what she's been going through” Nicholas’s face darkened.
“Stay here till I call for you.” he stormed out the door as she cried.

Chapter thirteen

Sami opened her eyes and looked around in confusion. She was in Kyle's bed and it was dark. She sat up, pushing the covers off. She stretched but stopped, hearing a noise in the other room. She got up and walked cautiously to the door and peeked through. There was a lamp on and who ever it was, was sitting on the sofa. She moved to the sofa and saw it was Rath.

“Rath?” she knelt down on the floor in front of him and put her hands on his knees. He lifted his head slowly and Sami heart broke at his eyes, all puffy and red. She had never seen him like this.

“Why?” he whispered, his voice breaking on the one word.

“Why couldn't I save him? I've healed you before. Why not him?” Sami dragged him into her arms and he sobbed hard into her breasts,

“I did try. Honest I did.” Sami shushed him and let him sob.

“Come on.” She said a few minutes after. She pulled him up and turned off the light, letting her eyes adjust; she then pulled him into the room, closing the doors with her power. She sat him on the bed and undressed him gently. She pushed him so he laid flat on the bed and slide in next to him, covering them up with the covers. He shivered at the heat so she pulled him closer to herself. He rested his head back on her breasts and they both shed tears for their baby boy.

Rath opened his eyes slowly, his head pounding.

Why is my head pounding? I didn’t drink last night …or did I? He felt his cushion move.

Hold on. Cushions don’t move. He moved his head and felt a hand run through his hair,

“You okay?” he heard his girlfriend ask and he looked up at her. He realised that he had been resting on her breasts,

“Yeah. I'm ok.” he rested his head back down on her chest and sighed as he felt her rub his shoulders and back.

“Hmm.” He moaned as she hit a tense spot. His arms tightened round her as he felt his arousal deepen. His head moved to the side a bit and he nuzzled her breast. She gasped and sighed as he placed kisses on her nipple. He nipped it and she squeaked. He snorted as she giggled.

“YO! You’d better not be doing what a think yo doing!” Zan called through the door and Rath just nibbled at the side of her breast. She moaned over the top to wined Zan up,

“Yo!” he banged on the door and Sami spluttered, trying not to laugh. Rath moved up the bed but his foot slipped and somehow, with a thump, he ended up on the floor, jumbled up in the cover. There was silence for a few seconds where he laid stunned. Then there was a giggle and Rath lifted his head to try and look at his girlfriend. At that, she laughed her head off.

“Is that…?” Kyle asked looking at the door.

“Sami’s laughing.” Ava said and Zan opened the bedroom door, ready for the sight of both his friends naked but to his shock, there was Rath on the floor with a pile of covers round him and Sami, on the bed laughing her head off. Every time she stopped, she looked down at her guy and would start up again.

“Dude. What you doing on the floor?” Zan asked as Ava and Lonnie looked over his shoulder. They both started laughing at the situation.

“I slipped.” He grumbled. Sami, who had just calmed her self down, started up again.

“Nice to see you find it funny.” He muttered, trying to untangle himself from the covers.

“I'm…I'm sorry.” She stuttered, trying to stop herself from laughing. She pulled the covers off Rath and helped him up. He pulled her into his arms and she laughed again, he met Zan’s gaze over her head and they smiled. It was nice to see their girl laughing again.

After Sami had calmed down, she and Rath walked into the lounge and sat on the sofa. Sami smiled at her brother as he and Tess watched TV, sitting on the floor.

“So what we doing today?” Zan asked and everyone shrugged.

“We gots school.” Sami said and Tess and Kyle groaned.

“School?” Rath exclaimed looking at Sami in shock.

“Yeah. Dad enrolled me.” She said and the door opened,

“Kids what are you doing here? You should be at school!” Jim asked and the three of them shot up and as Kyle ran for his bedroom, both Tess and Sami ran for theirs.

“Yo, sweets. What you doing?” Rath called through the door.

“What do you think? Getting ready for school!”

“Ya ain't going!”

“Rath right now I need normal. I don’t need to be treated like an invalid.” Sami said and Rath sighed, sitting back down on the sofa. 5 minutes later, Sami, Tess and Kyle walked out their bedrooms and after saying goodbye to everyone, they raced to Kyle's car.

Chapter 14

“How’s your day going?” Michael asked as Sami stood next to him in their art class.

“Bout the same as usual. Crappy homework, crappy lessons. That’s bout it, you?” she asked as she got her pad out of her art folder and put it on a stand.

“Its ok, I suppose.” Sami grinned,

“I’m guessing you had English.” She said and Michael nodded, leaning his head against his hand which where resting on the table.

“Aw. Poor baby.” She said in a teasing tone as she went to get her paints from the cupboard.

“Yeah, well after the lesson we’ve just had, your gunna hate yours next. She's in a well bad mood.” Sami grinned, poring paint onto her pallet.

“Oh well. The more fun for us. I've got a bet on with Liz whose class will make her walk out first.” Michael grinned at her.

“Talk about being a bad girl.” Sami just laughed, picking up her pencil and starting to sketch.

After half an hour, Sami then picked up her paints and paint brushes and started to paint the picture she had drawn. A few minutes later, the teacher came round and looked at everyone’s drawings. He came to Sami's and stopped.

“Well done Sami. You’ve really captured the love between these people. Keep it up.” She nodded with out really listening to the teacher.

After the lesson had finished, Sami put her hand up.

“Sir, can I stay and finish this?” the teacher nodded,

“Tidy up when you’ve finished.” He said and when Sami nodded, he walked out of the classroom and closed the door.

“Hey Michael. Where’s Sami?” Liz asked as he sat down at the table with everyone.

“I think she’s just coming.” There was a roar and two motor bikes rushed into the school grounds and parked neatly. The four people took off their helmets and the group saw it was Rath, Lonnie, Ava and Zan. They all clambered off the bikes and walked over to them.

“Yo. Where’s Sami?” Rath asked and sat down next to Michael, everyone ignoring all the stares.

“She should be here any minute.” Tess answered.

“Why are you guys here?” Isabel asked as everyone made room for the dupes.

“We thought, seen as it was Sami’s first day back after… what happened, we thought we’d come and see her for lunch.”

“What did she have last?”

“Art with me.” Michael said

“She was just talking to the teacher and she told me to go ahead.” Rath sighed.

“She’ll be there all day.” He said and a shadow stood over him.

“Hey Max. What’s going on?” Pam Troy stood over the group.

“Hey Pam. This is Rath, Michael's twin brother, Zan and Lonnie, mine and Isabel’s older sibling and Ava, Tess’s twin.” Kyle said and Pam’s eyes widened at Rath.

“I'm Pam troy, head cheerleader.” She held out her hand and Rath shook his head.

“So not interested.” He said and he looked at Michael,

“Wanna take me to the art room?” Michael nodded and he got up.

“We’ll come along.” Ava said and she, Zan and Lonnie got up as well and the 5 of them walked to the art room, leaving Pam spluttering. As they got there, they saw Sami still painting on a canvas, he brow lowered in concentration. Rath grinned at her and they walked in.

“Hey sweets.” He said and Sami smiled a distracted smile at him from behind the canvas.

“Hi” she murmured and with a final stroke, she stood back. The others came round and looked at her painting. It was different pictures in a collage. It had all the couples together, including Michael and Maria, round the outside, it then had pictures of the group in different poses, but right in the middle, it had Sami and Rath in the middle, both leaning against each other, both holding a baby. She hadn’t done the baby’s face yet, but that didn’t seem to matter.

“Sweets.” Rath put his arms round Sami and she rested her head against his shoulder.

“That’s…” Michael stuttered and Sami picked up her pencil. They watched as she sketched a face for the baby and wrote something at the bottom. She then picked up her paints and brushes and started to paint,

“Let’s move.” Ava whispered and quietly all five of them moved to sit in front of the canvas.

“That’s amazing,” Michael whispered and Rath smiled.

“That’s Sami for you.” Sami put her brush down and took a sip of water. She frowned,

I didn’t put that there. Sami saw Rath’s arm from the side of the canvas, she smiled and was about to start painting again when she saw Pam troy opening the door, she glared at the woman as she came in.

“What are you all doing in here?” she asked smiling flirtatiously at Rath.

“I'm painting and the others are waiting for me to finish,” she said, looking back at the picture as she stared painting the words.

“Let’s see.” Pam said and Sami smiled a stiff smile at her.

“Not yet. It ain't finished,” she said and Pam nodded,

“I’ll wait.” She said and Sami shrugged, kneeling to finish the words.

“Hey guys,” Max and the others walked in, 15 minutes later.

“Hey. I've nearly finished.” Sami said, painting the last letter. She stood up and put her stuff down on the table. Rath came round and when he read the words, tears filled his eyes.

“For my baby josh, whom I will never forget, we all love you and are sorry you’ve gone,” everyone looked at Sami. She had her head burred into Rath shoulder. Pam looked at everyone’s sad faces.

“Who’s josh?” she asked and Sami just stuffed her nose into the crook of Rath's shoulder.

“Someone special to Rath and Sami.” Tess said quietly and Pam just sighed,

“I gathered that.” She muttered, walking out of the room.

“How you holding up sweetie?” Liz asked and Sami shrugged, turning round in Rath's arms. When she had settled, he put his arms round her stomach.

“Ok I suppose.” She said and Rath grinned.

“Lets eat,” he said and everyone smiled, walking back out to the bench they where sitting at.

Chapter fifteen

Sami sighed as she walked out of school, later than normal. She had decided to do Michael a painting of Maria. As she carried that one and the one she had don earlier in the day, she rolled her neck, trying to ease the tension. It had been a tiring day and a roomer was going round the school that Sami was going after Michael now Ria had disappeared. She saddened at the thought of her old best friend. That she had died. Especially when it was so near her favourite holiday. Everyone was going to be depressed.

As Sami walked to Michael's, she noticed Nicholas was standing talking to someone.

“Look, she became unstable.”

“What happened?” Sami faintly recognised the voice from somewhere but she wasn’t sure where.

“She connected with the human, Sami and she got all her emotions. The strongest ones where the one’s of loosing a baby. She was no use to us like that. Plus the others already knew she was a shape shifter so I … eliminated her.” Sami eyes widened when she realised they were talking about the shape shifter impersonating her best friend.

“How strong are they?” the other guy asked and Nicholas laughed.

“They are barely strong enough to beat us.” he answered the guy.

“Just make sure they don’t merge. If they do, they will be more powerful than ever and we may not be able to stop them.” The guy disappeared and Nicholas walked off. Sami frowned at what she had heard.

Merge? What the hell is that?She wondered as she carried on to Michael's. She knocked on the door and after a few seconds, he opened the door.

“Sami. What are you doing here?” Sami smiled.

“Got a pressy for you”

“But it’s not Christmas.” He said but he let her in anyway.

“I know. I didn’t want to wait for Christmas seen as I don’t know if we’re going to be here.” Michael's face fell.

“Here.” She handed the painting to him and his eyes started to water.

“Sami…” he whispered. The painting was of Maria sitting in a chair, hair framing her face, eyes sparkling, and her face full of laughter.

“I… thanks.” He whispered and when he had set down the picture, Sami hugged him. She felt tears spill onto her neck and she tried not to cry herself. From the short period of time she had known him, she knew it was rare for him to show and emotion in front of anyone let alone cries in front of them. She shuffled them both to the sofa and they fell down with a thump. That’s how everyone found them an hour later.

Max walked into the door with the others following. He stopped at the sight before him and Isabel walked straight into him. Everyone crowded round to see what has happening. Rath looked at the two. Sami had her arms round Michael's shoulders and he was leaning so his head rested on her shoulder but his back was leaning against her legs. She was cradling him like a baby. Rath could clearly see the tear tracks down Sami’s face. He guessed the same with Michael. He realised everyone was looking at him to judge what he was going to do.

“Shut the door, its getting cold.” Sami said quietly and her eyes opened to look at the others. They saw her eyes where still wet with tears.

“What’s going on?” Isabel said loudly and Sami shushed her. Michael made everyone jump by snorting but after a second or two, he settled back down, breathing deeply.

“What happened?” Rath asked quietly as not to wake his dupe.

“I gave him a present.” She said simply and everyone looked at her weirdly. the dupes nodded, know that a present from Sami could make anyone cry

“No present would make Michael break down and cry.” Isabel snapped and Sami knew that it was out of concern for her ‘brother’

“Look at it then.” She said, nodding at the picture in the chair. Isabel strode to the chair and lifted the picture so she could see it. She gasped and after a few seconds looked at Sami.

“Its beautiful.” She whispered and Sami shrugged,

“She was beautiful.” She corrected the older girl and everyone looked at the painting. Sami looked down when she felt Michael move in her arms.

“Hey.” She whispered, brushing a lock of hair from his eyes.

“Hmm.” He sighed and Sami smiled when his eyes closed again.

“Yo duke.” Michael's eyes shot open and his eyes caught Rath's. Michael looked at him in fear when he realised whose arms he was actually in. he shot into a sitting position and Rath chuckled.

“were cool duke. I know nothing happened and that you two are just friends.” Michael nodded leaning against the back of the sofa.

“oh. I heard something rather interesting on my way here.” She said, dragging everyone’s attention to her.

“What’s that?” Max asked and Sami went into the kitchen.

“Two things, one there's a roomer going round school that I’m going after Michael since Ria disappeared and two, Nicholas was having a conversation with some random dude about us.” everyone stopped what they where doing.

“Excuse me?” Isabel asked and Sami got out pasta and tuna and as she told everyone what she had heard, she made everyone pasta and tuna.

“So what is this, merging?” Tess asked and Sami shrugged, taking a bite of her food from where she was sitting next to Rath.

“Don’t have a clue.” Zan said and everyone shrugged at each other.

“Well we need to find out quickly,” Max said and everyone nodded.

“But how?” Alex asked and Lonnie sighed.

“Guess that’s what we have to figure out isn’t it?” she said and Alex sighed.

“I’ll keep translating the destiny book. See if it has anything in it.” Tess nodded

“I’ll help,” she said and Liz nodded, adding her help.

“What about Cal?” Sami asked Rath quietly and he shot her a look.

“I dout Zan wants him involved.” Sami sighed shaking her head.

“Do you think I really want him around after he left you guys in the sewers? But if the destiny book doesn’t come up with any thing-“

“And what if it does?” Rath asked tightly.

“What if we contact him and we have the answers in our lap?”

“At least consider it Rath.” Sami hissed then noticed Liz and Kyle where sneaking glances at them.

“I cant make any promises.” He said and Sami just laughed dully, shaking her head,

“Stubborn git.” She muttered as she got up and grabbed her coat.

“Where you going?” he asked and everyone looked at Sami.

“Out.” She said and before anyone could say a word she slammed the door behind her.

“Is it me or does my sister storm out a lot?” Kyle asked and Zan shook his head

“More than you know.” He replied and Kyle went out and ran after his sister.

Chapter sixteen

“I hate men.” Sami muttered as she walked home.

“Their all stubborn pigs.” She added as she cut through the park.

“Seem to be here a lot.” she looked round and sat on the swing and started to pump her legs, getting higher and higher.

“Hey Sami.” she looked down and saw Kyle leaning against the pole.

“Hi” Kyle moved to the other swing and started to set it into motion.

“What’s got your cage rattled?” he asked after a few minutes of silence.

“Not what. Who. Bloody Rath that’s who. Why are men so stubborn? All men are stubborn. Even you,” she added as he opened his mouth to deny it. His mouth snapped closed and smiled sheepishly.

“Well, my excuse is dad. What has Rath done now?” he asked and regretted asking the question.

“What hasn’t he done?” she muttered and she shook her head.

“Theirs someone out there who can help. Someone who could have the information we need. Only problem is; Rath is too bloody chicken to bring it up round Zan. Not only that, when he’s made up his flipping mind, he’s as stubborn as a mule. And that’s the problem. He’ll never see there's always another solution to a problem.” She stopped swinging and let the swing go on its own.

“Hold up. They know someone who can help? And they're not saying?” Sami sighed.

“They probably haven't even thought about it. They hate the person. So much so, they practically blocked him from their minds. Don’t bring it up round them Kyle. They’ll go ballistic at you.” Sami stopped the swing and sighed.

“Maybe I should go and see the guy on my own.” Kyle's head shot up.

“I don’t think so. You maybe more powerful than me, but your still my little sister and I'm not going to let you go to some guy, who is probably dangerous. That’s probably why they’ve blocked him.” Sami shook her head.

“Maybe he is, but that’s not why they’ve blocked him.” Sami sighed and stopped the swing. Kyle stopped his swing as well and they both faced each other.

“Promise you won’t tell no one about what I’ve said so far and what I'm going to tell you.” he nodded.

“This guy, he’s technically their protector, but he cared more for money than his charges. Instead of looking after them, he dumped them in the sewer, leaving them to fend for them selves. They always knew where he was. They can sense him. But, because of what he did, they never wanted his help. That’s why they would never trust him. That’s why they’ve blocked him from their mind. That’s why I'm going to find him and get his help.” Kyle shook his head.

“Not with out me your not.” Sami’s eyes widened when she saw the look in his eyes.

“Kyle, what about dad? You know he wont survive if something goes wrong.” Kyle shook his head.

“Nothing will go wrong. And we’ll tell him were going away on alien business, but not to tell the other cuz we don’t know if it’ll pan out.” Sami sighed.

“Fine.” She said giving in.

“Sami what…” Liz and Alex stopped at the sight of their friend packing.

“What’s going on?” Alex asked and Sami sighed.

“Me and Kyle are going away.” She said, pulling her black top from the wardrobe.

“Where?” “Why?” both questions asked at once,

“Where, duno yet but why, we just want to get away.”

“And you where going to go with out telling us?” Alex asked, hurt seeping from his tone.

“I was going to phone you from out side Roswell and tell you.” Sami volunteered.

“Not good enough.” Liz crossed her arms.

“Fine. Were going on a mission. To try and find someone. And no.” she said seeing the looks on their faces

“You’re not going. Liz, you have a date with Max tomorrow and Alex, you have to finish decoding the book.” Alex shook his head

“The programs all done. All I need to do is press go.”

“And I can always cancel.” Liz added and Sami shook her head.

“Come on Sami. It’ll be a blast. Kinda like old times.” Kyle said from the doorway and Sami sighed.

“I'm gunna regret this.” She muttered and Liz squealed, hugging Sami.

“So where we going?” Liz asked and Sami sighed

“LA.” She said and Liz grinned,

“I’ll go get packed”

“Hold on! What about your parents?” Liz and Alex grinned.

“They’re away.”

“And the restaurant?” Liz sighed

“Dad’s left someone else in charge to give me a break.” Sami nodded

“Were leaving tonight. Dad knows and by the time the others will have found out, we should be well outta Roswell and in new York.” Alex frowned

“I've gotta get some stuff from new York.” Sami said before anyone could comment.

“Lets go.” Liz said and she and Alex raced out the house.

“All set?” Sami asked Liz and Alex as they threw their stuff in the car a few hours later. Sami and Kyle had promise their dad to phone him everyday

“Yeah. If not, we can always buy it in New York” Sami nodded and when the others where in the car, she drove off.

Chapter seventeen

“Hi Michael, it Sami.” she held the phone from her ear.

“Where the hell are you?” Michael asked, sitting up in bed.

“On a high way.” She said, changing lanes.

“Funny. Which one.” Michael rubbed his face and climbed out of bed.

“Like I'm going to tell you.” she replied and Michael opened the door to his room.

“So you guys decided to have a holiday?” Michael asked and Sami sighed, rolling her eyes at the other three.

“Michael. Don’t start.” Liz called from the back

“You have done exactly the same.” Michael scowled into the phone.

“How bout I get Rath here?” he asked and Sami just laughed.

“I’ll just hang up.” She said in a singsong voice and Michael scowled even more.

“I hate you.” she laughed again.

“No you don’t. I'm just calling to let you know we’re all okay. Oh and you need to go into Alex’s house and press start on his computer. That’ll start the decoding of the book. Let the others know. Bye!” she hung up and threw Kyle the phone, which he turned off.

“How’d he take it?” Alex asked and Sami shrugged,

“ ‘Where the hell are you? I hate you’ blah, blah, blah.” Liz laughed. They had gotten another car from New York and where now in LA.

“So where do we start?” Kyle asked and Sami smiled.

“We go to the guys place. While we were sleeping yesterday, I traced the guy and found him.” She pulled into a mansion.

“Wow.” Kyle muttered and Sami pressed the button.

“Yes?”

“Tell cal Sami, Rath's girlfriends here.” She said

“One moment.” A minute later, the gates opened. Sami put the car in gear and drove in. she parked in front of the house and as she got out, Cal came out of the house.

“And what do you want?”

“Nice to see you as well cal.” Sami quipped as the others got out.

“We need help on merging.” Cal’s eyes narrowed.

“Why?”

“Let’s talk privately.” She said and they walked into the house.

The other three’s eyes went wide as they passed through a large hallway and into a big lounge. Cal sat down in a chair as Kyle, Alex and Liz sat down.

“Won’t you have a seat?” Cal’s butler asked and Sami raised her eyebrows at him.

“I’ll stand thanks.” She said and leaned against the wall as Cal sipped from a drink.

“So, does Zan know you’re here?” Cal asked and the other humans noticed Sami’s eyes had gone hard, not a trace of emotion was in them

“You know damn well if he did know, I wouldn’t be here.” Cal smirked.

“I'm guessing he’s gunna be pissed that you went behind his back to see me.” Sami glared at him.

“Look, I don’t like you anymore than Zan or the others do. But I know when I need help. A shape shifter was posing as my best friend for months and no one noticed. She then killed my child and, cut a long story short, she connected with me and got my pain.” Cal’s eyes widened.

“You where with a child? Rath's child?” Sami sighed

“Keep up will you?” Cal sat back and Kyle, Alex and Liz looked at each other startled.

“Please, continue.” He stated sarcastically and Sami smirked.

“Thanks you. Anyways, a few days ago, I heard Nicholas taking to some guy about it and he said he had gotten rid of the shape shifter and the guy said, and I quote ‘Just make sure they don’t merge. If they do, they will be more powerful than ever and we may not be able to stop them’” Cal sighed

“So you want to know how to do it?” Sami shrugged

“We want to know what it is first.” Cal nodded.

“I’ll be a sport and type it up so you don’t forget anything. Then I’ll explain it.” Sami nodded.

“You can all stay here as well.” He got up and walked out.

“Nice guy.” Kyle quipped and Sami pushed off from her leaning position and walked over to the mantelpiece.

“That’s Cal for you.” she quipped and after a few minutes of silence, the butler came in again.

“I am to show you to your rooms.” He stated and the four teens followed him up two flights of stairs.

“These are your rooms. Two to a room. If you need anything, just ring the bell.” He bowed and walked off.

“And he’s just as pleasant.” Alex said and Sami sighed.

“Ok. Me and Liz in one, Kyle Alex in the other.” They said good night and went into the bedrooms. After checking in with her dad, she called Michael.

“Hello?”

“Hi Michael.” She heard him sigh.

“Just checking in?” he asked and Sami laughed

“Ain’t I always?” she asked and Michael chuckled.

“Yeah. Makes me think that’s all I'm good for.” Sami snorted

“So what's been happening in Roswell?” she asked and he sighed

“Not a lot. Max is in a huff you took Liz, Rath is threatening to kill you, um ‘part from that, not a lot.” Sami nodded.

“Ok. Well we’ll be home soon. We’re leaving tomorrow anyway. See you soon.” They said their goodbyes.

“I'm gunna be killed twice over when we get back.” Sami said, flopping on one of the beds.

“Why?” Liz asked, looking up from her journal.

“Max and Rath.” Liz laughed.

“I’ll protect you from Max.” she said and Sami rolled her eyes.

“Thanks, but it ain't him I'm worried about. Its Rath.” Liz laughed.

“Can’t help you there honey.” She said and Sami nodded, covering her eyes with her arm

“I know. I know.”

Chapter eighteen

Sami eyes opened and she sat up, swinging her legs over the side of the bed. When Rath wasn’t with her, she isn’t the type of person to lay around in bed. She yawned and waved a hand over herself, refreshing her cloths, washing herself and redoing her makeup.

“Morning.” She said as she walked into the kitchen.

“Morning.” Cal said and the woman next to her narrowed her eyes as Sami went over to the coffee machine and pored her self-a mug full.

“I’ve got everything typed up for you guys, just need to explain it.” Sami nodded.

“Then we’ll be outta your hair.” Cal sighed rubbing his face.

“That’s what you said the last time.” He muttered, passing the teen a floppy disk and a CD.

“Back up copy. But you need both disks. One has the information and the other has the code to decrypted the information.” Sami nodded, tucking them into the pocket by her breasts, which could only be reached slipping a hand down the front of her top.

“You gunna introduce us?” the woman asked as Sami rubbed her neck.

“No.” Cal said shortly and the boys came in.

“Hey.” They walked over to the coffee machine and pored themselves a mug each.

“Good nights sleep?” Sami asked, sipping her coffee.

“Meh.” Alex said sitting down.

“Yeah thanks.” Kyle kissed his sisters cheek and sat next to Alex.

“Sami!” Sami put her coffee on the table and walked out of the kitchen to find Liz hurrying over to her.

“Isabel dream walked me!” she hissed and Sami’s eyes widened.

“What did she say?”

“She asked the obvious questions. Where are we? What are we doing, but I didn’t tell her. I just told her we’ll be back in a few days.” Sami sighed and rubbed her forehead.

“Rath mustn’t have told the others where we are.” Cal walked in with Kyle and Alex behind him

“Then I better explain this to you.” he said and they all sat down.

“Right. Merging is basically both dupes ‘merging’ together.” Sami's eyes widened.

“So Rath and Michael would be one person?” she asked and Cal nodded.

“Here’s how you do it.” He said

“I can’t believe it.” Liz whispered two days later as Sami drove as fast as she could back to Roswell.

“I know.” Sami said, tightening her grip on the wheel.

“Its not reversible ether.” Alex muttered and Kyle sighed, resting his head on the window.

“You gotta think though. What's better, having them do this and beating Nicholas and who ever, or everyone dying?” Sami stated and Liz sighed.

“I suppose.” Sami frowned into the back view mirror.

“What?” Kyle asked.

“That guy’s too close to us for my liking.” The silver car behind bumped them.

“Its Nicholas!” Liz yelled from the back, seeing the guy behind the wheel.

“Shit.” They reached the desert and Nicholas bumped them harder. Sami tightened her grip on the wheel and grinned.

“Hold on guys!” she yelled and she sped up.

“Come on duke. You need to do better than that!” Zan called to his dupe as Max blasted a rock. They where all out in the desert practising their powers.

“Guys look!” Ava called and everyone went over to where Ava was. They saw two cars racing each other.

“Idiots” Rath muttered and everyone exchanged glances. He had been in a bad mood since Sami and the others had gone off.

“I cant shake him!” Sami yelled, swerving to the right and racing that way. Nicholas followed.

“We can’t go into town!” Alex yelled and Sami skidded to the left.

“I know but what else can I do!” she yelled and Liz screamed as the car bumped them again.

“They’re heading this way!” Lonnie yelled. She had been keeping an eye on the cars.

“MOVE!” Max and Zan yelled and everyone raced to the side.

“SAMI! WATCH OUT!” Kyle yelled and Sami saw the aliens in front of her. Nicholas smacked into them again. This time Sami couldn't control the car and the car flipped into the air and landed on its top. Nicholas grinned and after gunning the engine, he revved off.

Chapter nineteen

Sami lifted her head and looked around. She saw Kyle sitting beside her, blood over his face. Sami felt a sharp pain in her head and stomach. She felt her face and when she looked at her hand, she noticed blood was covering it. Darkness over took her and she knew no more.

“Oh my god look!” Tess screamed and as they watched, the silver car bashed into the blue one and it flipped through the air and landed upside down. But the more shocking this is that the silver car didn’t even stop to help. It revved it engine and raced off.

“We’ve gotta help them!” Isabel yelled and they all raced over to the car.

“Sami? SAMI!” Rath screamed when he saw it was she and the other three in the car.

“Shit!” Michael swore.

“Let’s get them out!” Max yelled and they split to get everyone out. Rath and Michael concentrated on getting Sami out, Lonnie and Isabel on Alex, Zan and Max on Liz and Tess and Ava on Kyle.

“God.” Michael muttered as he and Rath melted the door away.

“Sami?” Rath called as he clambered into the car. He went to undo her seatbelt but noticed that a piece of metal had gone through her stomach.

“No.” he moaned, seeing the amount of blood there was.

“Liz.” Max murmured as he pulled his soul mate from the wreckage.

“Kyle.” Tess muttered as she and Ava helped him out.

“Sami.” he tried to go back for his sister.

“Rath and Michael and dealing with her. Don’t worry” Ava said as she and Tess helped him sit on the floor.

“Alex?” he held his arm to his chest protectively but refused to let anyone help him as he watched his two girls being treated. He walked over to Kyle, with the help of Lonnie and Isabel. Max put his hand on Liz’s chest and formed the connection as everyone watched on.

“Sami?” Rath whispered, tears leaking from his eyes when his girlfriend would wake up.

“Rath, we need to get her out before she looses more blood.” Michael said and his dupe nodded. He put his hand on the metal trapping Sami and kissed her forehead.

“I'm sorry.” He whispered and pulled it out. Sami started screaming as pain wrenched through her stomach.

“It’s over babes. Its over.” Rath whispered and Sami whimpered as he undid her seatbelt and lowered her to the floor. He then handed her over to Michael and Michael took her a little way from the car. Rath crawled out and watched as Zan put his hands over her stomach and tried to heal her.

“She’s blocking me,” he said and Rath shook his head.

“No. Sami sweetie, open up.” He muttered as he took her face into his hands. Her eyes opened a little bit.

“Rath?” her voice was horse and sore.

“Hey sweets. You gunna let Zan heal you?” he asked and before he could get an answer, she passed out. Zan pushed Rath away and placed his hand over her wound again.

“Max?” Liz opened her eyes and Max gathered her into his arms.

“What happened?” she asked and Kyle and Alex hugged Liz. While Rath and Michael had been getting Sami out, Zan had healed both of them.

“We crashed.” Kyle said and Liz’s eyes widened as she looked over to where Zan was.

“Sami” she whispered and they watched as Zan pulled his hand away.

“She’s healed.” He whispered and looked at Rath.

“Is she ok?” he asked and Zan nodded.

“Yeah.” He said and Ava helped him up.

“Thanks man.” Rath got up and he and Zan hugged. Sami's eyes opened and she sat up, startling everyone.

“Sami.” Rath pulled away from Zan and knelt beside her and pulled her into his embrace. She slowly put her arms round him and rested her chin on his shoulder.

“Sami.” He pulled away from his girlfriend as Kyle hurled himself at his sister.

“I'm sorry.” She whispered as Liz and Alex joined the hug.

“Why?” Liz asked and Sami looked at the ground.

“If it weren’t for me, this wouldn’t have happened.” She said quietly and Liz put her hand on her friends’ face.

“But were ok.”

“No thanks to her.” Max said his voice harsh.

“Max.” Liz said as her friend winced and looked back at the ground.

“What? I'm only saying what's true.” He said and Sami looked up at him and he stepped back in surprise. Everyone looked at her eyes and he or she where literally void of any emotion. They where a dull brown. She didn’t say anything, just pulled away from her friends and brother and stood up. She brushed a hand over her body and clean cloths appeared on her. The blood also disappeared.

“She did what she had too.” Liz snapped and Max looked at his soul mate.

“What? Taking you guys god knows where and then getting you nearly all killed?” Sami felt a sharp sting of guilt.

“That wasn’t intentional and you know it.” Liz said harshly and Max locked gazes with her.

“Do I?” he challenged

Chapter twenty

Liz stared at Max in horror and shock, as did everyone else.

“You really think Sami wants to do us harm?” Alex asked in anger and Max shrugged. Rath and Zan stood in front of Sami as Ava and Lonnie stood ether side of her.

“We don’t have to listen to this.” Ava said her eyes cold.

“Lets go.” Lonnie said and they walked off but Sami stayed where she was.

“No.” she said quietly and everyone looked at her.

“I know I shouldn’t have taken these guys. But you know how stubborn they can be. And besides, if we all split off, we’ll be picked off one by one.”

“I suppose you have a plan do you?” Max asked snidely and Sami crossed her arms over her chest, her eyes flashing purple.

“Not a plan, but something that might help.” Alex said

“Now, we can all go back to our dads and be civilised, or I’ll just give you the disks and you can rot. Its your choice Max.” Sami said and Max’s eyes narrowed.

“I'm going.” Michael said and he came to stand with the others as did Tess and Isabel.

“Fine.” He snarled and Sami nodded. She felt her pocket vibrates and to her shock, her phone was being rung.

“Hello?”

“Are you nearly home?” Jim asked and Sami sighed.

“Yeah. In the desert now. Be home soon.” She hung up and she turned on her heel and got into a car.

“We’re home!” Kyle called as he and Sami walked into the house. Their dad shot up and pulled them both into a hug.

“I'm glad your safe.” He whispered and Sami let a few tears roll down her face, it finally set in that she or Kyle might not have been here and how worried her dad actually had been. If they had died, he would have fallen part.

“Hey,” Jim put a hand to Sami cheek, seeing the tears.

“What are these for?” he asked and Sami threw herself back into her dads arms.

“I’ve missed you.” she whispered brokenly and Jim held her to him.

“Here’s my baby girl.” He whispered rocking her back and forth.

“I wondered how long it would be.” He whispered and Kyle put his hand on Sami shoulder.

“Ok. So what's this idea?” Max asked as he stormed into the Valenti house.

“Max.” Liz snapped and Jim looked at everyone.

“What’s going on?” he asked and he studied his daughter.

“Sami?” he asked and she shook her head pulling away and sitting on the sofa.

“Does someone want to tell me what's going on?” Jim asked as Kyle Liz and Alex sat on the sofa with his daughter.

“Um… on the way back, someone ran us off the road.” His gaze shot to Sami.

“We were all hurt pretty badly-”

“Badly? That doesn’t even begin to describe it! Liz nearly died-”

“I did die!” Sami yelled and everyone looked at her in amazement apart from Zan.

“If it wasn’t for Zan, I would still be dead.” She said more quietly. Rath went over to his girlfriend and held her.

“I nearly lost you.” he whispered and Sami nodded.

“I know, for a moment there you did.” She said and Max sighed.

“I'm sorry. I just.” Sami nodded, lifting her head off Rath's shoulder.

“I would be the same if it had been Rath in the car.” She said quietly.

“We’ll tell you about what we found in the morning. I think everyone needs to sleep.” Kyle said and Tess nodded.

“Someone can have my bed. I'm staying with Kyle tonight.” Kyle looked at Tess, startled but nodded in agreement.

“Zan, Ava, you two take it. I’ll sleep on the sofa.” Lonnie said and Zan looked at her.

“You sure?” his sister nodded.

“Ok. We’ll see you all in the morning.” Isabel said and after everyone had said goodbye, they all left.

Chapter twenty-one

Sami opened her eyes and winced at the sunlight shining in through the curtains. Must have forgotten to draw them last night. She thought snuggling into Rath as his grip tightened. They’d made love all last night and surprisingly, Zan and Ava didn’t say anything. They all had grown used to it as they all lived in rooms next to each other and could hear everything that was going on.

Sami smiled at the peaceful expression on Rath's face.

He doesn’t normally have that expression on his face, she kissed his forehead gently and he smiled in his sleep. Sami turned her head and looked at the other two in the room. Ava smiled at her from the shelter of Zan’s arms.

‘How you doing?’ she mouthed and Sami shrugged.

‘Ok I suppose. It just Kinda hit home last night ya know?’ she replied and Ava nodded.

‘We nearly lost you.’ Ava said and Sami let out a breath and nodded, putting her head on Rath's chest. Both boys where on the outside of the bed so the girls could lean against them and still see and talk to each other. After an hour, the boys started stirring. Sami was covering her hand, trying not to laugh as Rath's eyes opened.

“What you two giggling about?” he asked and Sami shook her head as Zan looked up at Ava.

“Nothin’” Ava said and when the girls looked at each other and then back at the guys they burst out laughing.

“Ok, need to go toilet.” Sami spluttered, climbing over her boyfriend and walked out the room to the toilet. As she came out the toilet a few minutes later, Zan and Rath stumbled out the room, still blurry eyed and sat down at the kitchen table. Lonnie looked up from the cooker at her brothers and burst out laughing.

“What?” the teens stared at each other in a mixture of horror and amusement. While waiting for the boys to wake up, Ava and Sami had decided to play a game and change their boyfriends. It started with their hair, then piercings, then anything. Even their eyes. Zan’s hair was now bright pink with a massive tattoo on his forehead saying sleepy, his eyes where now a deep red, his lips where green and eye lashes and eye brows where bright blue. Rath was no better. His hair was purple; on his forehead it said head and his eyes where yellow. His lips where orange and his eye lashes and eye brows where bronze. Because they where sitting next to each other, the tattoos spelled out sleepy head. The boys then looked over to the bedroom where Sami had just closed the door.

Zan shook his head and took a bite of his pancake when Lonnie snorted again.

“What?” he asked, raising an eyebrow but Lonnie just shook her head, pointing at her tongue. Zan stuck out his tongue and found it was black. Rath stuck his out as well and his was white. They boys looked at each other and grinned as they heard the girls laughing. There was a bang and after a few seconds of silence, Ava burst out laughing. Sami groaned, laughing as well. The door opened and Rath found his girlfriend on her back on the floor a hand over her eyes laughing. Zan peeked round his shoulder. Ava was on her back, a pillow over her face, laughing on the bed.

“What happened?” Rath asked and Sami and Ava looked up at the boys. They took one look and burst out laughing again.

“Can you guys keep it down? Wow. Dude what happened to you guys?” Kyle asked when he spotted sight of Rath and Zan. Sami and Ava laughed even harder and they where still giggling when the others arrived half an hour later.

“Hey guys.” Isabel said. Ava and Sami just waved, giggling too much to answer.

“Hey.” Lonnie smiled and Max, Liz, Alex, Isabel and Michael sat down round the room.

“Where’s Zan and Rath?” Michael asked and Ava and Sami burst out laughing again.

“They’re in the bedroom and refuse to come out.” Lonnie grinned.

“Why?” Michael asked and Tess laughed.

“Oh, let’s say these two had a little fun with their boyfriends’ appearances this morning.” Kyle said and Sami doubled over in laughter. Ava slid bonelessly to the floor.

“so why don’t they change themselves back?” Michael asked and Tess and Lonnie started giggling as Kyle grinned,

“they made it so only these two can change them back. But to do that, they have to be calm. And every time they see them, they burst out laughing so hence why they cant change back.” He explained trying not to laugh.

“ok. ok. I'm calm. I'm calm.” Sami repeated as she got up. She walked to the door and opened it. She took one look at Rath's face and tried not to laugh. She sat on bed and patted the covers in front of her.

“quick before I start laughing again.” She said and Rath sat in front of her. She put her hand over his hair and concentrated. But instead of it going brown, it went a light shade of blonde. Sami frowned, not laughing anymore. She retried and his hair went black.

“Um…sweetie? I can’t change it back.” She said and Rath spun round. His eyes where wide with horror.

“You mean I have to walk round like this?” he said loudly but Sami’s eyes where just as round.

“Rath, if I can’t do a simple thing like changin hair color, then what bout the rest of my powers?” she asked and Rath’s gaze drew concerned. Sami looked at Zan who was looking between the two.

“What’s going on?” she asked

Chapter twenty-two

Zan shook his head as he sat next to Sami.

“Ok, give me your hand.” He said and he put their joined hands over Rath's head. Sami closed her eyes and concentrated even harder.

“All done.” Zan said and Rath turned round to hug his girlfriend she grinned and hugged him back.

“That was hard work.” She admitted and Rath nuzzled her neck.

“What’s going on?” Ava asked from the doorway, a grin covering her face at Zan’s appearance.

“Av’s change me back,” Zan pleaded and Ava sighed, waving her hand over him. He returned too normal.

“Ah man, so we didn’t get to see you guys all funky?” Alex wined as they two couples came out. Rath looked at his girlfriends smiling faces and saw it was slightly pale. He nudged her and she looked up at him

“Nope.” Rath said and Sami poured her self a glass of orange juice.

“I’ll show you sometime.” She winked and everyone laughed as Rath growled.

“Anyway, what did you guys find out?” Michael asked and Sami sighed.

“We went to someone I know who could help.” Max’s eyes flashed

“What is he?” Sami smiled.

“A shape shifter, there's a rebellion against Kivar and Nicholas of Antarian's, skins and shape shifters. He is part of that group.” Sami explained and Max nodded.

“He had heard of merging and said that, basically, it’s two people, ‘merging’ into one.” Liz explained and Sami nodded.

“You mean... if Zan and I merge, then we’ll become one person?” Max asked and Sami nodded.

“You’ll have both sets of memories, and properly the piercings and personalities as well” Kyle said and the aliens exchanged glances.

“Couldn’t have put it better myself.” A voice from the door stated

Chapter twenty-three

Everyone’s heads turned and Sami's gaze widened.

“Cal?” she exclaimed and she rushed to help him. She noticed the woman from the house was supporting him from the other side. Cal's face was bruised and bleeding and he was limping. Zan, Rath, Ava and Lonnie stood up and watched, all emotion gone from their eyes.

“Thanks sweetcheeks.” Cal said as she and the woman helped him to the sofa.

“Kyle, go get some warm water, Liz, some towels, Alex, some cotton wool from the bathroom please” Sami said putting her hands on Cal’s face and connecting with him.

She saw skins breaking into his mansion and them torturing him for information. Sami broke out the connection and sat on her heals, feeling the pain he had gone through coursing through her body. She felt a pair of cool hands on her shoulder and knew it was Tess. She opened her eyes and everyone noticed they where purple.

Kyle put the bowl on the floor next to her and she and Tess helped Cal.

“Don’t.” he said pushing their hands away.

“It’s too late. They didn’t get anything from me, I swear, but be careful, Kivar is more powerful than he used to be now.” Sami’s widened.

“That’s who Nicholas was talking to wasn’t it?” she asked, realising that she had heard that voice from when she had connected with the others and her head lowered to look at the ground when he nodded.

“Rose will help you. They are on their way” he whispered and a second later, he burst into dust. Sami coughed and backed away from the sofa. She grasped Tess’s hand as she looked at everyone else.

“What do we do?” Liz asked and Sami shook her head taking out the disks from where she had put them a few days ago. She looked at Alex and he nodded.

“What?” Isabel asked as Sami and Alex raced out the door. A few seconds later, everyone followed. When the reached the door, Sami revved her engine and when everyone was in a car, she sped down the road

“Where are we?” Ava asked as they pulled into a driveway.

“This is Alex’s house.” Isabel said. They all walked over to the walkway and when Alex had the door opened, they followed the two into Alex’s room. They saw Alex had already got both sets of discs in his computer and the program loaded.

“It says that in order for the ‘merging’ to take place, both have to connect with each other and open up fully, keeping no secrets. They also have to want to do this.” Alex read with Sami looking over his shoulder.

“Other then that, it’s basically what we’ve already told you.” she muttered.

“Is there a risk?” Ava asked and Sami looked up in surprise. It was the first time any of them had spoken to her since Cal turned up.

“The only risk there is apparently, is that it doesn’t work.” She said clicking her fingers nervously.

“You guys need to talk to each other bout this.” Liz said standing up.

“We shouldn’t be including in this.” Kyle agreed, and the four humans stood together.

“But Liz…” she shook her head at Max.

“I love you Max, but this choice is between you and Zan. Same with the others.” Liz said and Alex, Sami and Kyle nodded. Sami avoided the dupes’ eyes as she looked out the window.

“But… it involves you guys. You should at least tell us what you think.” Sami shook her head.

“No. We shouldn’t. It’s your lives that will be changed drastically. I’ll admit. Ours will change, but its you guys that will become 4. Not us.” she said looking into everyone’s eyes. Isabel Max and Tess held their partners as Sami stood by the door.

“Hey.” Zan and the others stood near her. She nodded unsure what they where gunna do.

“We love you.” Lonnie said and Sami looked up at the four.

“I know. We’ll talk about it after.” Sami said and she hugged everyone. It got to Rath and they kissed.

“I love you Rath. I’ll stand by you. No matter what happens.” She whispered and he nodded. Sami turned to Michael and they hugged.

“See you soon.” He said and she kissed his cheek.

“See ya.” She muttered and the humans left.

Chapter twenty-four

“It’s been an hour,” Kyle said pacing in his house.

“Oh one whole hour!” Sami said sarcastically and Kyle glared at his sister who was lounging on the sofa.

“Relax. They’ll be fine.” Liz said, lying on her back on the floor.

“But what if something happens? Or what if they decide they’re not going to do it?” Alex asked and Sami sighed, propping her feet on the table in front of her.

“They have a phone don’t they?” Rose asked coming in from the kitchen with a tray, a pot and some drinks.

“Ooh, are they cookies?” Sami asked, sitting up a bit straighter.

“Yep. Chocolate chip.” Kyle's eyes went wide and he sat next to his sister.

“A way to a mans heart is chocolate cookies.” Kyle said and Rose poured them all hot chocolate from the pot and they took a cookie each.

“Oh my god. Rose will you marry me?” Alex asked and Sami laughed as Kyle glared.

“You popped the question before me!” he exclaimed and Liz shook her head, sipping her hot chocolate.

“Sami, feet off!” Jim said coming in the door and seeing his daughters’ boot clad feet on the coffee table.

“We haven’t been introduced. My names Jim Valenti. Kyle and Sami’s father.” Jim said holding out a hand.

“Rose Carter. I'm Zan, Ava, Lonnie and Rath's protector. Since Cal died, he passed the duty onto me.” That got everyone attention.

“Where are the aliens?” Jim asked settling in a chair with a mug of hot chocolate.

“At Alex's. Deciding what to do.” Kyle explained what had been going on these last few days.

“So when do we know?” Jim asked and Sami shrugged.

“I don’t know.” The phone rang and seen, as Sami was closest, she answered.

“Hello?”

“Hi Sami. Is Amy? Do you know where Maria is?” Sami closed her eyes.

“Um… no, I'm sorry. We thought it was weird when she wasn’t at school. But we just thought she was ill.” Sami stuttered and Amy bite back a sob.

“I don’t know where she is. It isn’t like her not come home.” Sami rubbed her head

“I'm sure she’ll turn up. Do you want to speak to dad?” Sami asked and Amy sniffed down the phone.

“Yes please sweetie. And if you see Maria, tell her to come home.”

“Will do. Dad,” she cover the phone

“It’s Amy. She’s calling about Maria.” he went pale.

“Ok.” he took the phone off Sami and walked into his bedroom.

“God. I forgot about Amy.” Alex whispered and Sami nodded, closing her eyes.

“I know.” Sami said and the front door opened.
