L-J-L 76: Boy that was a lot of questions. Some of them will be answered and some of them wont. The question you asked about telling Kyle and Jim about Tess, I’m not sure if I made it clear in the other chapters but Jim knows about Tess’s mind warping Alex but Kyle doesn’t I’m not sure if that was your question but I wanted to clear that up. CH. 11


“We have a problem Isabel.”

“Is it about Tess? I just saw her run from the house. Max what happened?”
“Tonight at prom Tess tried to mind warp Liz into thinking that Tess and I were kissing. Luckily Liz was able to fight it, but she didn’t want to go back to the prom so we left early.”

“Why didn’t get us we could have..”

“We didn’t want Tess to know that we know how to block her.” Max interrupted. “And we didn’t want to ruin everyone’s night. We were going to tell everyone in the morning. Then when I got out of my shower I saw Tess outside my window. She said she came to see if I was ok sense I didn’t stay at prom. She then tried to mind warp me into sleeping with her. I fought it but she figured it out I guess. I was too stunned to do anything and the next thing I know she is gone.”

“Max what are we going to do? We have to tell Valenti about this. Kyle can’t be kept in the dark anymore. We..”

“I know, but she most likely won’t try anything tonight so lets just try and get some rest and in the morning we can figure out what to do.”

“All right. Um..are you going to be ok?”

“I’ll be fine Is. Just go and get some sleep. I have a feeling tomorrow is going to be along day.”

“Night Max.”

Isabel’s mind was filled with so many different emotions she didn’t know how she was going to go to sleep.

What were they going to do about Tess? Michael would want to kill her. So would Maria and although she was angst killing someone in cold blood what else could they do. They couldn’t trust her to be alive and have her powers. Who knew what she would try next? They couldn’t take her powers away. They didn’t know how to do that even if there was a way.

“LIZ! NO! LIZ....” Isabel heard Max scream.

She rushed into his room to see him sitting up in bed looking around frantically.

“Max?”

When he didn’t respond she went over and touched his shoulder gently.

“Max?”

“Isabel. Something is wrong with Liz.” Max said desperately.

“What’s wrong with her?”

“I..I don’t know. I just know that something is wrong. The connection isn’t right. It’s.... something’s wrong.”

“What do you mean the connection?” Isabel asked but then thought better of it. There was nothing normal when it came to Liz and her brother. “You know what never mind. Come on get dressed. We’ll drive over there and see what’s wrong with her.”

A few minutes later they were climbing onto Liz’s balcony and picking into Liz’s room only to find it empty. Max’s hart began to pound harder in his chest. One of his worst night mares was coming true.

Even as Isabel opened the window, Max knew that Liz wouldn’t be in there. She was gone and he had no idea were to start looking for her.

They both searched Liz’s room and bathroom but to no avail. Max’s hope began to sink a little more.

“Come on Max.” Isabel whispered. “Let’s go to Michael’s and tell him what’s going on. I’ll try to dream walk her from there.”

Max’s only response was to nod.

Isabel banged impatiently on Michael’s door. She glanced over at her brother and noticed he still had the blank stare on his face from when they found Liz’s room empty.

“What the hell do you want.” Michael grumbled as he answered the door.

“We have a problem.” Isabel said as she drug Max into the apartment.

She explained everything as quickly as possible.

“Why the hell didn’t you say something Max?” Michael yelled.

“I’m sorry we thought it would be ok until morning. I didn’t think Tess would take Liz.”

“We don’t know that for sure yet Max.” Isabel tried to comfort.

“Who else would have?” Max shouted.

“Max, I’m just saying that we don’t know anything for sure yet. Just give me one of your pictures of Liz and I’ll see if I can dream walk her ok?”

Although Max yelling at her was not something she would normally tolerate, she was just glad she got some kind of emotion from him. She took the picture Max gave her and went over to the couch to try and reach Liz.

Slowly she was pulled into something but it was all black. It was like
something was blocking her from getting into Liz’s dream.

Isabel opened her eyes to find a hopeful Max looking at.

“I’m sorry I couldn’t get in. Something was blocking me.”

“Dam it!” Max yelled as he started to pace.

“Max, just calm down man. We’ll find her.” Michael said. Turning to Isabel he asked, “Is it possible that she just wasn’t in her room?”

“I don’t think so Michael. What reason would she have to be out this late? Her bed was made. Then was no evidence that she had been in the room. Both her parents’ cars were there. Even so I should have been able to at lest get something from her when I did the dream walk.”

“Ok, let’s go talk to Tess. After everything that happened she is the most likely person to do something to Liz.”

Sheriff Valenti was instantly on alert when he saw the expression on Max Even’s face.

“Where is Tess.” Max demanded.

“Um...in Kyle’s old room.”

He moved out of the way to let the tree aliens enter his house. Kyle was sitting on the couch rubbing the sleep from his eyes.

Tess came into the livingroom to see what all the commotion was about.

The minute Max saw Tess he stalked over to her and grabbed her by the shirt roughly.

“What did you do to her? Where is she?”

When he received no answer anger rushed through his veins. He shook her violently.

“Answer me dam it.” He roared.

“Max! Back off.” Kyle stated as tried to get Max to let go of Tess.

“She took her. And I want to know were.”

“Took who?” Tess whimpered. “I didn’t do anything.”

“Ok. Why don’t we all settle down?” Jim tried to reason, “Max let Tess go and we will talk about this.”

It took a few more minutes but finely Max released Tess. The minute she was free Tess retreated over to Kyle, looking for some form of protection.

“Now why don’t you tell me what happened?”

“Wait, let me just call Maria and Alex before we start this.”

Maria and Alex arrived at the Valenti’s to find Isabel and Michael sitting on the couch, the Sheriff sitting in one chair and Tess in the other. Kyle was standing be hind Tess’s chair with an air of protectiveness about him. Max stud on the other side of the room glaring at Tess fiery anger in his eyes.

“What’s going on?” Alex asked.

“That’s what we’re about to find out.” Jim replied and looked to Max to begin.

Isabel noticing that her brother was not about to talk she began to explain the whole thing.

By the time she was done, Michael had to restrain Maria from attacking Tess three times and Alex had come and placed his arm around Isabel.

“So what do we do now?” Alex asked.

“First we need to figure out who took her.” Jim stated.

“I think we all know who.” Maria gritted out as she glared at Tess.

“I came home right after I saw Max. I swear. I know I shouldn’t have done what I did but I had to try one last time. Max and I....we....I just had to try when it didn’t work I was going to go and see Liz to apologies for what I did but I decided to do it in the morning. I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.” Tess finished in tears.

“Yeah, likely story.” Maria replied back.

“No, I swear I didn’t do anything to her.” Tess sobbed out.

“It could have been the Dupree guy.” Kyle supplied. “You did say he was looking at Liz oddly right?”

“That’s a good possibility Kyle. I’ll look into it. Max are you sure she made it inside?”

“Yes, I waited until her light was turned on.”

“Ok, then for right now I think everyone should go home and cool down.”

“Wait, what about Liz’s parents?” Isabel asked.

“I’ll call them and tell them she’s with me.” Maria supplied.

As by some unspoken mutual agreement Maria, Alex, Michael, Isabel and Max all met up at the Even’s house.

They all gathered in the livingroom not saying much. Michael and Maria were cuddled up together on the love seat, while Alex sat on the couch with his arm around Isabel. Worry and guilt was coming off of Max in waves as he sat on the chair alone.

Maria had called the Parkers and told them that Liz had crashed at her house and was going to stay for the rest of the weekend. They had wonted to speak to her but Maria said that she was sleeping. She wasn’t sure if they believed her, but it seemed like they had.

“Isabel, why don’t you try to dream walk her again. See if you get something.” Michael said. He hated just sitting around and not doing anything.

Isabel was about to say that it would be useless, but one look at her brother’s slightly hopeful face changed her mind.

The results were the same.

“I’m sorry Max.” Isabel said as she sat back down next to Alex.

“It’s not your fault.” Max replied.

“So you really think that it was Mr. Dupree?” Maria asked.

“No.” Came Michael short response.

“Than that leaves Tess.” Alex said.

“I don’t know. She seemed to change recently and she did seem to be sorry for what she did to Max and Liz last night. Maybe she didn’t do anything.” Isabel reasoned.

“I don’t care. I think it was her. She tries everything to get Max and when it doesn’t work she goes after Liz.” Maria stated.

“Ok, hypothetically if it was Dupree why would he want Liz? I know he was looking at her but that doesn’t mean he would take her?” Alex
asked. “Maybe it’s not alien related at all.”

Everyone gave him a ‘yeah right’ look.

“If it wasn’t alien then I should be able to get into her dreams.” Isabel said. Isabel looked over at Max to see what he had to say and noticed that he looked deathly pale.

“Max?” She questioned but then flowed Max’s gaze and saw her parents in the arch way.

Soon everyone in the room turned and the room became deathly quite.

Phillip was the first to speak.

“We get a call about six in the morning asking if we knew where our son was. The Parkers said that Liz wasn’t home and thought our son was with her. So we rushed home. A few minutes ago we get another call from the Parkers saying that Liz was at Maria’s but they didn’t believe it. They thought Maria was covering for the two of them. I guess you weren’t but the question is, were is Liz and what the hell do aliens have to do with it? Isabel what is this with going into people’s dreams and.....” Phillip trailed off not sure how to continue.

Jim had left the house a few minutes ago to go and see if he could find out about Mr. Dupree’s were abouts and left Kyle and Tess just staring at each other in the livingroom.

After a few minutes’ Kyle asked tentatively “You um..didn’t do anything right?”

“No! Of course I didn’t. How could you even ask me that?” Tess demanded.

“It’s just with everything you did last night and I know Liz isn’t your favorite person right now so...”

“I said I was sorry. Why won’t anyone believe me? I didn’t take her.”

“Ok. I’m sorry. It’s just..”

“That’s it I’m out of here. I need to clear my head.” With that Tess got up and stormed out of the house.

Kyle instantly felt guilty. Tess would go as far as to hurt Liz. Would she?

Liz woke up with an intense throbbing in her head.

The last thing she remembered was hanging her prom dress up in her closet.

She slowly opened her eyes. She blinked a few times to clear her vision.

She was in a sitting position against the wall with her hands pined above her head.

She looked around trying to figure out where she was. There was a small window on the opposite wall that was letting in the light for the room. The window was too high for her to see out of. It seemed as if she was in some kind of warehouse or something.

She heard a noise coming from her left and looked over to see what it was. When she saw the person walking toward her, a jolt of fear ran up her spine.

“Oh, good you’re awake.” Her captor said.

AN: Once again sorry about the spelling and grammar but I am without and editor at the moment and on my own I suck. This chapter didn’t turn out the way I wanted it. I just couldn’t get what I had in my head down on paper so I hope this isn’t as bad as I think it is.

Warning: just a little warning if you like Tess you really shouldn’t read this next part. There are some bad words and violence in this next part.

CH 12

After Philips deceleration that he had herd most of the conversation they had just had, the one thing running thought everyone’s mind was, would they be able to lie their way out of this?

Max was panicking. Why did everything have to happen at once? He was barley handing Liz missing and now he had to deal with his parents finding out the truth about him. They had to tell them there was no way around it.

The thing was Max didn’t know if he could handle this right now. He always thought that if he told his parents Liz would be by his side. He couldn’t do this without her. She was his strength. His sanity. He was barley holding on as it was. He couldn’t deal with this right now.

Isabel opened her mouth to speak but before she could get anything out her father interrupted her.

“Don’t you dear lie to us.”

“Ok, I won’t but can you please just trust us for now. We promise to tell you everything later. We just can’t deal with this right now.”

“I’m sorry but that is not an option. I want to know what is going on now or I am going to call the Parkers and tell them...”

“Don’t!” Max shouted. “You can’t do that.”

“And why not?” His father shot back.

Max didn’t have a response.

“Max does have anything to do with the fire and the bird?”

“I think you both better sit down.” Isabel suggested quietly.

Michael glared at her. She couldn’t be about to do what he thought she was.

“Isabel..” Michael warned.

“Michael, we have no chose. We have to tell them.”

“Would someone start to explain.” Philip said. He was quickly losing patience.

“We....we aren’t human.” Isabel started.

“What do you mean not human?” Philip asked.

“We are....well..we are human alien hybrids.”

“Isabel you have never lied to me before. Now I want the truth.”

“It is the truth Mr. Even’s.” Maria put in.

And so the whole unbelievable story was told. Mrs. Evens remanded quit thought out the whole thing and Mr. Evens remained skeptical until the three aliens demonstrated some of their powers.

“....we don’t want to hurt anyone. We are still your children.” Isabel finished with a pleading note in her voice.

“Oh, honey of course you are. Nothing could change the way we feel about you.” Diane got up to hug both of her children.

A small smile graced Max’s lips as his mother hugged him.

“We love you both so much.” Diane muttered as she hugged Max close.

“Dad?” Isabel questioned.

“Your mother’s right. Nothing could change the way we feel about you. But what does this all have to do with Liz missing?”

Max instantly tensed in his mothers arms and the small smile that had been on his lips quickly vanished.

“You think one of your enemies took her?” Philip asked.

“It would be the easiest way to get to me.” Max muttered as he pulled out of his mother’s embrace.

And once again they began to explain what had been going on in their real lives for the past few weeks.

Tess rushed out of the apartment she was glad for an excuse to get away and she had wanted to check up on her plan B.

Things seemed to be falling in place.

Tacking Liz had been easier then she had thought. After Kyle had gone to sleep, she had snuck out to see Max unfortunately that did not go as she had plained. However, this plain may work out better then the first. She had climbed into Liz’s room and waited for her to come out of the bathroom. She had come out in her pajamas humming softly to her self. She didn’t even notice Tess standing in the corner. When she turned to hang up her dress, Tess knew it was her chance. Tess came up behind her and hit Liz on the back of the neck effectively bring her to unconsciousness.

Tess knew Isabel would try and connect with Liz as soon as they found out she was missing so she simply put up a mind block. Tess had used her powers to bring Liz down to her car. She had then driven to an abandoned warehouse that was close to the Valenti’s.

She hadn’t expected Max to realize that Liz was gone so fast but it didn’t matter she had pulled off a vary convincing performance and knew that they all thought she was innocent.

As Tess walked over to where she had Liz changed, she had to smile at the fact that she was awake and looking around.

“Oh, good you’re awake.” Tess said with a smile on her face.

“You’re never going to get away with this.” Liz hissed out with as much strength as she had. Her head was pounding and she felt a little nauseous.

“Oh, my dear dear Liz. I don’t think you realize who you are dealing with. I have this all worked out.”

“Max is going to come find me.” She said.

“No, Max won’t. He maybe able to block my mind warps, but since I have you now it won’t matter. He is already going crazy looking for you. He’s not thinking strait. He never does when it comes to you. Anyway, your going to be ‘missing’ and poor Max wont know what to do and who do you think is going to be there to comfort him?” Tess stopped.

Liz just glared at her coldly.

“What no guesses? What a shame. I’m going to be there. I’ll tell him how much he means to me. That I will never leave him. He will be putty in my hands. He’ll sleep with me and I’ll get pregnant and then we can leave this worthless place.”

“Max won’t fall for that.”

“That’s ok. That’s why I’m going to keep you alive. You see if it doesn’t work I’ll just let him know I have you. All I will have to do is threaten your life and he will do whatever I tell me to. Including leaving earth.”
“Oh, and what’s going to stop him from just killing your sluty ass?”

Tess knelt down in front of Liz looking her in the eye.

“Because if he does than he will know that by killing me he will never find you and you will die.”

Liz tried to not let her fear show but it was hard. She knew how Max got when it came to her and it seemed so did Tess. Liz decided to try another tactic.

“Why do you hate us so much? We welcomed you into our group.”

“Because,” Tess snapped “none of you humans should have been involved. You’re the ones that screwed it all up. He was suppose to be mine. But he was always in love with you. Even on Antar. It was always about you!” Tess screamed out and kicked Liz in the side taking out her frustration.

Liz refused to let the tears fall or make a sound as pain ripped through her.

“Tess, what the fuck are you talking about? I’m human. I’ve never been to Antar.”

“I have most of the memoirs from my other life. The others don’t. I remember that my marriage to Zan was a poetical one. He didn’t want to marry me. He fought angst it, but his father died and it was important that he take a wife. His mother thought I would be perfect. I had all the qualities and breading needed, but Zan wanted his ‘soul mate’. We were married but he refused to sleep with me. Saying his true love was out there and he would find her. He had this unhealthy obsession with earth. He said the plaint was calling to him. I think that is one of the reasons that we were sent here. I thought it would be different. All he had to do was love me and I would have forgotten all about Nasedo’s deal about the baby. But when I came here my husband was once again not looking at me with love. No, his eyes held the same look when he was looking or talking about you as they did when he talked about his true love. He was suppose to be with me DAMN IT!”

Throughout her speech Tess became more angry and frustrated. She snapped and began kick and punch Liz over and over again. It made her feel better, to let her frustration out on the person that took her rightful place. Liz had it coming.

Liz tried to not let a sound escape or a tear to fall, but soon the pain was too much. She couldn’t help but whimpered out Max’s name. It was the only thing on her mind.

“What did you say?” Tess asked as she stopped her assault.

Liz just glared at her though her one eye that wasn’t beginning to swell shut.

“I could have sworn you called for Max? That’s so sweet. Too bad he can’t help you now.”

“LIZ!” Max yelled out in anguish, cradling his head in his hands.

“Max what’s wrong?” Isabel asked as she rushed over to her brother’s side.

“They’re hurting her.” He whimpered.

“Who is?” Michael demanded.

“I don’t know! But they won’t stop.”

Diane and Phillip looked at each other in worry.

“Isabel what’s going on?” Philip asked.

Maria was the one who answered. “Max and Liz have this connection. It’s hard to explain but just..” She was cut off by Max’s whispered words.

“They stopped. It still hurts. But they stopped.” Then Max looked up into Isabel and Michael’s faces. “We have to find her. She’s hurt bad. We have to find her now.”

Max stud up as if ready for action.

“We will Max.” Isabel tried to reassure.

Just then the phone began to ring. They all just started at it. Finally, Philip picked it up.

“Hello?”

“Philip this is Jeff. I was just wondering if you found out if Max was home?”

With everything that had happened he forgot to call the Parkers.

“Um..yes he is. He said that he dropped her off at Maria’s. I’m sorry I didn’t call you back, but things have been crazy around here.”

“No, I understand. Thank you.”

“Sure.”

With that the hung up. Philip didn’t like lying like that but what else could he do?

Once again the phone began to ring. Phillip seriously thought about just letting it ring but knew that he couldn’t.

“Hello?”

“Hey, Philip this is Jim. I was just wondering if I could talk to Max.”

“Is this about Liz?”

“Um..”

“It’s ok Jim I know about everything. The out of this world kind of everything.”

“Right. Ok. Just tell Max that Mr. Dupree’s checks out, so it wasn’t him.”

“Ok, will do. Thanks.”

Philip turned to his son who still looked to be in pain.

“That was the Sheriff. He said that Mr. Dupree checked out so it couldn’t have been him.”

“Then that leaves one option.” Maria said.

“Tess.” Michael replied.

“We don’t know that for sure. She seemed really upset when we accused her of taking Liz.” Isabel deafened her one time friend.

“She could have been acting. We all know how good she is at that.” Maria replied. She knew it was Tess. Why couldn’t Isabel just see it?

“If it’s not Tess then who?” Michael asked.

“I don’t know maybe it isn’t alien related at all. There are plenty of sick people out there who would take a teenage girl. We see it all the time on the news about girls getting taken then raped and killed. Maybe...” Isabel trailed off as she looked at his brother’s face. He was pale and his body was beginning to shake slightly.

“Oh, Max....I didn’t mean...I’m sorry. I’m sure that isn’t what....” She felt so guilty. She had just meant for them to see that it might not be Tess.

“Isabel.” Her mother chided.

“Max man clam down ok. I’m sure Liz is fine. We will find her. And she is going to need you so you need to clam down and try and think reasonablely.” Michael said as he gently pushed Max to sit-down on the chair behind him.

“Why don’t we all just take a sit and try and think about this rationally.” Philip said.

He was amazed to see how well these kids worked together, but he could see it quickly spiraling out of control. He knew Max was the leader but right now Max couldn’t lead anyone. He didn’t look well at all and Philip was afraid for his son. It was blatantly obvious that if Liz didn’t make it neither would Max.

They had to find Liz.

As if they needed any more problems someone was ringing the door bell. Everyone just looked at each other. Finally, Diane got up and answered the door.

“Hi, Mrs. Evens is Max or Isabel home?” Tess’s voice drifted into the livingroom.

Philip noticed his son visibly tense. Which he thought would have been in impossible from how tense his body already was.

“Um..sure Tess they are in the livingroom.”

Tess walked into the livingroom and looked around uncomfortably.

“Max, Isabel can I talk to you in private.” Tess asked looking at the Evens.

“We were just about to go out and get Chinese take out. You’re welcome to join us Tess.” Mr. Evens said. He had a feeling that whatever she wanted to talk about was alien related and there for the best course of action was to leave.

The minute they walked out the door Diane laid into her husband.

“How could we just leave? They need us. They..”

“Diane they will be fine. They have been dealing with this a lot longer than we have. We need to let them do what they need to do.”

“I know but they’re our babies.”

“I know Diane. I know.”

“I was thinking about Liz and I thought I might be able to help.” Tess said.

“Sure you will.” Maria muttered sarcastically.

Ignoring Maria Tess continued. “I thought that since Isabel couldn’t reach Liz alone that maybe if I helped we would be able to reach her.”

“Ok, so what do we need to do?” Isabel asked.

“Well just do what you normally do and I will hold your hand and I will try and fallow you in.”

“All right, Max the picture.” Isabel said.

Tess and Isabel both sat down on the couch and got comfortable. Slowly Isabel was pulled into the dream, but once again it was black. She felt a surge of energy and knew it was coming from Tess. Tess’s body formed next to her. Suddenly, she felt like she was moving. She shook her head and then opened her eyes. It was like she was in the trunk of a car.

“Liz!” She called out, but got no response.

The feeling of moving began to leave her body and her vison became blurry. She closed her eyes to try and clear it. When she opened her eyes however, she was once again in her livingroom.
Everyone was standing around the couch looking at her.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t get much. It just felt like I was in the trunk of a car.” Isabel stated, still slightly disoriented from the ‘dream’.

Max closed his eyes as if in pain then turned around and walked back over to the chair. He sat down cradling his head. He just wanted to find her.

He knew she was hurt he could feel it. He just wanted to take the pain away and hold her. What he wouldn’t give to hold her right now.

“I’m sorry Max.” Tess said as she came up and put her hand on his shoulder. “I thought it might work. Maybe we can try later.”

She didn’t receive any response from him but since he didn’t pull away she took it as a good sign.

“I’m going to go back and apologize to Kyle for the way I stormed out. If you need me Max don’t hastate to call or come over. I’m here for you.”
Tess said.

With one last squeeze to Max’s shoulder she walked out the door.

“You know,” Maria said once Tess was gone. “She may not have meant to but I think I have an idea of how to find Liz.”

"You know," Maria said once Tess was gone. "She may not have meant to but I think she gave me an idea of how to find Liz."

"What do you mean?" Isabel asked.

"Well, why don't you try to reach her with Max? You were able to reach him in New York using Liz, so why not try it with Max on this end? We all know how strong their connection is."

"That might work." Alex put quickly following Maria¢s thinking. "Max felt Liz getting hurt so obviously he is in some way connected to her now. Add Isabel and you may be able to communicate with her."

"That might work." Michael added in.

"I don't know. Do you think Max is in any state of mind to try?" Isabel objected.

"I'm not deaf Isabel. Stop acting like I can't hear you. Let's try it." Max stated.

Max and Isabel sat on the couch holding hands. Max slowly followed Isabel into Liz's dream. They were both surrounded by darkness.'

"Now what?" Isabel asked.

"Hang on I can feel her. Just give me a second."

Max closed his eyes and concentrated on his love for Liz. He focused on the part of him that always seemed to hold her. He felt himself almost being pushed forward. When he opened his eyes, he found himself in what looked like a warehouse.

"Isabel?" He called out but received no response.

"Max?" He heard a weak voice call out. Wait, he knew that voice.

"Liz?!" He yelled and turned around looking for her.

When he saw her small form beaten and bruised chained to a wall, all the air rushed out of him. Rage like he had never felt before pulsed though him. As soon as he could get his feet to move he rushed over to her. He knelt down in front of her and gently cupped her cheek.

"Oh, God, Liz what did they do to you?"

"Max?" She whimpered. "Are you here?"

"Not exactly. Isabel brought me here. We are going to find you. Do you know where you are?"

"No, but Tess is the one that took me. I'm not sure why. She wasn't making complete sense."

"Ok. That's good. It will help us find you. We will find you. I promise." Max said as calmly as possible, trying to be strong for her. Max gently began to stroke her hair while his thumb stroked her bruised cheek wiping away a few stray tears that fell.

"It hurts Max."

"I know sweetheart. I know. I promise I will find you soon and when I do I can fix it."

"I love you." She said with a tired sigh.

"I love you too, Liz. So much."

He felt himself beginning to leave the dream and desperately tried to hang onto it. He didn't want to leave her. She needed him.

"No! Max don't go!" Liz called out with an amazing amount of strength due to her present condition, as she felt Max's presence begin to weaken.

"I'll find you Liz. I promise. Just hold on a little longer. Please."

With that Max was gone.

When Max opened his eyes, he found everyone staring at him including his parents.

"Max what happened? One minute you are next to me and the next you're gone and I was yanked out of the dream." Isabel asked.



"Did you find her? Where is she? Who took her?" Maria demanded.

"Hey, blondie calm down." Michael said as he placed his arm around her.

"She's hurt bad. She is in some kind of warehouse, but she didn't know were. Tess is the one who took her."

"That's it. I'm going over there and kick her no good, lying, sluty, home wrecking, self serving, alien ass." Maria ranted as she tried to stomp to the door.

"Maria, you need to clam down." Michael said.

"Calm down! You want me to calm down? She has Liz. She.." Maria was cut off as Michael kissed her.

"Now that you've shut up, we can work on a plan." Michael turned to Max. "So what do we do?"

"I don't know. I.." Max trailed off he couldn't think straight. All he knew was that he needed to get to Liz and fast.

"Why don't we follow her?" Alex suggested. "She is bound to go back to Liz at some point we just have to wait her out and then let her lead us to Liz."

"Why don't you all let the police handle this? They are more equipped to find Liz." Diane suggested.

"We can't mom." Isabel explained. "We have a better chance of finding her and bring Liz home alive. The police wouldn't be able to fight against Tess's powers. It has to be us."

"I just don't like you all putting your lives in danger." Diane argued back.

"I know that mom but we have been dealing with this kind of thing for a long time. We can handle it." Isabel defended once again.

"They will be fine Diane just let deal with this." Philip put in as he pulled his wife towards him.

Michael and Max sat down the street from the Valenti's home in the Evan's SUV. They figured they would be less noticeable to Tess that way. They decided to stake out the house in teams of two, changing every couple of hours. It was also decided that only the aliens of the group would be driving out the warehouse to get Liz and confront Tess. They had called the Sheriff and told him what they had found out. Jim had agreed that he would call the minute that Tess left the house so that they could be ready.

"You could have stayed home with Isabel and tried to contact Liz again." Michael said as he looked at his friend who seemed completely exhausted.

"No, I'd rather be doing something that will help bring her home. Even if it is just sitting in a car. Besides Isabel is going to need all her strength when it comes time to face Tess."

Michael knew it was futile to even suggest that Max rest knowing that as long was Liz was gone his friend wouldn't sleep.

"Hello." Max answered his phone that had begun to vibrate in this packet.

"Max, it's Valenti. I think I heard Tess leave."

Just then the two saw Tess's SUV back out of the Valenti¢s driveway.

"Yeah, I see her thanks." After he hung up, he turned to Michael. "Ok, let's go."

They followed Tess at a discrete distance trying not to be noticed. About 15 minutes later she pulled into the parking lot of an old factory. Michael drove past to try and avoid being detected. He parked the car and the two got out to observe on foot.

They could see Tess walking towards the building and then walk though an old rusty door.

"Ok. This must be it." Michael stated.

"Yeah."

"All right let's go and get Isabel and then come back." Michael turned to leave but noticed that Max wasn't coming.

"Max?" He asked.

"I can't leave her." Max murmured.

"Maxwell, you can't do this. We need Isabel. We agreed."

"I know. You go get Isabel and I'll stay here."

"I don't think so. I can't trust you not to go in there alone." Michael protested.

"I won't. I'll just watch. I promise, ok? I just can't leave knowing she's in there."

Michael realizing there was no use arguing with Max decided not to waste any more time.

"Ok, fine. But I swear Max if I come back here and you aren't I will..."

"I got it Michael. I won't do anything stupid."

"Yeah, well your track record when it comes to Liz isn't the best."

All Michael got as a response was a glare in his direction.

"I'm going. Don't move from this spot. No matter what."

With that Michael was gone.

Max sat and stared at the warehouse. He wanted to go inside and find Liz but he knew Michael was right. He couldn't face Tess alone. None of them knew how strong her powers were and with Liz in there, well he couldn't risk it. He wondered what was happening in there. His mind was coming up with all sorts of scenarios and none of them good. He knew one thing; Tess wasn't hurting her right now. Otherwise he would feel it. He looked down the road in the direction Michael had taken off in. He hoped they got here soon.

Tess had gotten the feeling that someone was following her but when she had turned into the parking lot the few cars that were on the road drove past her. She walked into the warehouse to see Liz. She didn't know why she came tonight. She shouldn't have but she just couldn't seem to stay away. Seeing Liz hurt and helpless with no Max in sight gave her a sense of power and pleasure.

She noticed that Liz was either asleep or unconscious. She bent down in front of her hostage and tapped her cheek none too gently.

"Come on Lizzie. Wakie wakie."

"Max.." Liz moaned as she was pulled out of her dream.

"Nope sorry he's not here." Tess replied.

Finally, Liz became fully awake and looked at Tess.

"Did you miss me?" Tess asked.

Liz's only response was to glare at Tess.

"I saw Max today. He was upset but that is to be expected. He did seem very open to my comfort, and should be turning to me soon. So I don't really need you anymore. And although I am so enjoying our time together I don't think I can keep on come up with reasons to come out here. Whatever should I do? I could kill you. That could be fun to make you suffer for all the pain you have put me though. Or I could just leave you here and let you starve. What do you think?"

Liz just looked at her. If there was ever a time that she thought Tess was crazy this was it. The word sociopath came to mind.

Her head hurt so badly that she just wanted to close her eyes and sleep but she was afraid of what Tess might do while she was asleep.

She knew Max was coming or at lest she hoped so. She wasn't so sure if she hadn't just dreamed the whole thing. No, he was coming. It was Max. There was no way he would rest until he found her. That much she knew.

Max was getting impatient. How long should it take to go and get Isabel? He didn't know if he could sit out here much longer knowing that Liz was in there with Tess.

Suddenly a burst of pain shot though him causing his body to jerk. Instantly, he knew it was coming from Liz.

Ok, that was it. He couldn't just sit around and do nothing. He had get to Liz before Tess did any more damage, or before Tess could kill her. With that last thought Max knew he was going in, with or without Michael and Isabel.

As Michael pulled up to the warehouse, he saw Max's figure running towards the building.

"Damn it I told him to wait." Michael yelled as he hit the steering wheel in frustration.

"I told you, you shouldn't have left him here." Isabel said.

"What was I supposed to do he wouldn't leave?" Michael deafened himself.

"It doesn't matter. Come on let's go before he gets himself killed."

Ch 14

Max crept into the warehouse as quietly as he could.



Once inside he listened to see if he could hear Tess moving around. He heard a muffled bang sound from above and hoped that it was Tess and not just the warehouse making noise.



He carefully claimed up the stairs that were to his left. When he reached the top there was a door with a small window. He looked through it and saw Liz chained to the wall. He had to take a deep breath to try and calm his rage. It wouldn’t help Liz if he went in there running on emotion.



He looked through the window again to see if he could see Tess. He didn’t but that didn’t mean she wasn’t in there. He knew she was in with Liz a few minutes before because he felt Liz’s pain.



Slowly he opened the door and took a quick visual sweep of the room. Tess was no where to be seen.



He crept his way over to Liz trying not to make a sound as to alert Tess to his presence. As he got closer, he noticed that Liz wasn’t awake and he prayed she was just asleep and not unconscious.



"I wouldn’t move any closer if I were you." Tess’s voice stopped him in his tracks.



He looked over at Tess and saw her hand raised in Liz’s direction. He was close enough that he could put his shield up to protect her but he wasn’t close enough for it to protect them both. His decision was quick and easy. His life didn’t matter without Liz.



Tess was slightly shocked to see the green shield separate her from Liz. He couldn’t hold if up forever and with it on Liz it left him vulnerable.



"Oh, how sweet…sacrificing yourself for your human whore." Tess sneered as she aimed her hand at Max.



Max decided the best course of action was to keep Tess talking until Michael and Isabel got there.



"Why are you doing this?" Max asked the one question that had been on his mind since he found out the truth.



"Because you’re suppose to be with me but you weren’t. Not even on Antar. It was always about her DAMN IT!"



"Tess," Max said calmly. "Liz wasn’t on Antar."



"No, she wasn’t but you still loved her. You didn’t want me. You always said your soul mate was out there and you were going to find her. That you dreamed of her every night. You would get this look on your face that.....well I thought that on earth you would want me. It was a change to have what was rightfully mine but when I found you, you didn’t want me. That look you would get on your face when you talked about your dream girl was the same look you used when you talked about Liz. It’s not fair. You are mine, not hers. Why can’t you love me? You could be king. We could rule together."



"Why did you let me get caught by the FBI?" Max asked another question that had been weighing on his mind.



"It was Nasedo’s idea. He thought it would be a good way to get you all to trust us. I also thought that if I could save you then you would turn to me. When you didn’t, I made the message up."



"How could I trust you when I didn’t even know you?"



"You trusted Liz."



"That’s different."



"No, it’s not. You don’t even see how bad she is for you. You need someone that is the same station as you. Max, you’re a king. You shouldn’t be with commoners. Especially one’s that would cheat on you with the likes of Kyle. Doesn’t it bother you that she gave her virginity up so easily? Of course who knows how long she and Kyle were doing it."



"I know the truth Tess about the mind warp with Future Max."

When Michael and Isabel entered the warehouse they could hear voices from the floor above. The followed the same route as Max did.



Michael peaked though the window and saw that Tess was facing toward them.



"We should try and find another way up and come in behind." Michael suggested.



Isabel nodded her head.



They found stairs at the other end of the warehouse and ascended them quietly. They rounded the corner and came in behind Tess.



Max could feel himself tiring and didn’t know how much longer he could hold up the shield.



He saw Michael and Isabel come around the corner and allowed himself to calm some.



Tess didn’t know what to say she knew that the gang had figured out some things but she didn’t know that they had found out about Future Max. Did this mean they knew about Alex? She needed to come up with a back up plan, quick.



"I just...I’m sorry Max. I just love you so much and I just wanted you to love me, but I knew you wouldn’t as long as you were holding on to Liz."



Max’s eyes once again shot to Michael and Isabel. Tess noticed.



Before any of them could do anything Tess whipped her body around and faced the other two aliens. With a flick of her wrists she threw them against the wall and they slumped to the floor.



The shock of seeing that happen as well as his depleting energy caused his shield around Liz to flicker and then go out.



Tess whipped back around and aimed at Liz.



A cry like that of a wounded animal tore from Max’s throat as he rushed to put himself in front of Liz. He heard what sounded like wind and expected to feel pain in his back as his body hovered over Liz.



When nothing happened he looked up and saw Tess’s body on the ground and a man leaning over both Isabel and Michael.



Max stood up to fight the man if necessary when he noticed the man seemed to be bringing Isabel and Michael back to consciousness. Max took a defensive posture when the man stood up and faced him. The man gave a slight nod and then left through the door.



Max looked back over to Tess and noticed her body slowly turn to dust.



"What the hell?!" Michael exclaimed as he came to.



"Max?" Isabel asked.



"I don’t know some man came in and.." He looked back down at Liz and realized they needed to get out of there. "I’ll explain later let’s just get home."



Max gently uncuffed Liz from the wall and then cradled her in his arms.



"Max?" Liz murmured into his chest.



"Shhh…Liz it’s ok now. I’ve got you."



When they made it to the SUV Michael tried to take Liz from Max so that he could climb in the back, but Max refused to release his hold on her. It was a struggle to get into the back but he made it.



He knew he didn’t have enough energy to heal her right now and that if he tried he would most likely pass out. No, he would wait until they got home to help her then it wouldn’t matter if he used every ounce of energy he had.



When they finally arrived home and walked through the door everyone surrounded them.



Everyone was trying to talk at once, but Max ignored them.



He walked straight to his room and gently laid Liz down on his bed. He gently brushed the hair away from her face and was about to try and open the connection when he heard everyone’s voices behind him.



"Would you all leave please so I can heal her?" Max said irritated.



"Maxwell we have to talk about.." Michael started but was interrupted by Max.



"I know Michael and we will in the morning. Right now I just want to heal Liz and then go to sleep. You all should go get some sleep. It’s been a long day and tomorrow we have a lot to talk about."



Michael was about to object but was stopped by Maria’s voice. "Stuff it Spaceboy."



"Look why don’t you all just stay here tonight." Mrs. Evan’s suggested. "Maria can stay with Isabel in her room. And you two," she said gesturing to Michael and Alex, "can sleep on the floor in the living room."



If it had been any other time, she wouldn’t have let Liz stay with Max, but she knew for a fact there was no way he would leave her tonight. Everyone filed out of the room with Mr. Evans closing the door after himself.



"Liz?" Max whispered trying to wake her.



"Max?" She whimpered.



"Yeah, it’s me beautiful. Just open your eyes for me."



Slowly her eyes opened and Max made the connection. The pain she was feeling was so intense it knocked the breath out of him when he first was in. Images of what Tess did to her assaulted his mind to the point that if Tess wasn’t already dead he would have killed her for what she had done. Max slowly pulled out once the damage was fixed. He felt exhausted.



"Thank you." Liz murmured.



"I’m so sorry Liz."



"There’s nothing to be sorry for."



"If I had lost you.." Max choked back a sob.



"But you didn’t. You saved me Max." Liz pulled on his arm so that he would come and lay down beside her. He climbed up next to her and clung to her like a lost little boy who had just been found.



His quiet sobs gently shook his body. Liz ran her hands through his hair and down his back.



"I’m ok now. It’s ok now." She whispered.



His sobs slowly subsided and he hugged her a little tighter.



"I love you, Liz." He whispered as he drifted of to sleep.



"I love you too." Liz whispered back.

Liz awoke a few hours later to the feeling of being moved. When she opened her eyes, she saw Max leaning over her.



"Sorry, I didn’t mean to wake you. I was just trying to get us under the covers."



"It’s ok."



Max snuggled down beside her once again and pulled the covers over them. He had woken up and realized that they were both on top of the covers still in their dirty clothes and shoes.



He had taken off his shoes and then cleaned their clothes with the help of alien powers.



"Max?"



"Yeah?"



"What happened to Tess?"



"She’s dead."



"What happened?"



"She took out Michael and Isabel and then she was going to blast you. I ran over to protect you and when I turned around Tess was on the ground and a man was over them. The next thing I know Michael and Isabel are awake. He looked at me, gave me a nod and then was gone. When I looked back over at Tess she was turning into dust like Nasedo did."



"Kyle’s going to be upset." Liz whispered.



"Yeah, I know."



"Is it wrong of me to be glad she’s out of our lives?" Liz asked as she looked up at Max.



"No, Liz after what she did to you...." He trailed of not being able to finish. "It’s over now and that is all that matters."



NC-17 Start



Liz pushed herself up and kissed him. His mouth automatically opened up to hers and their tongues began to duel.



A kiss that had started out as a comfort soon turned into much more. Max gentle pushed her back onto the bed and pressed his upper body onto hers. His hand began to travel down from her neck to cover her breast, kneading it softly. His mouth began to travel the same path his mouth did.



Liz ran her hands through his hair, encouraging him. A soft moan escaped her lips as he hit an extra sensative spot on her neck. Soon the flashes came and she was once again flying through the stars.



Max reclaimed her mouth that was open in ecstasy. The need for air forced them apart. Max rested his forehead on hers and stared into her eyes. His hand slowly moved away from her breast and once again cupped her face.



"Make love to me Max." Liz whispered.



Max closed his eyes trying to control himself. He would have liked nothing more then to make love to her right than but he had to make sure that it was what she really wanted.



"Are you sure?"



"More than anything. I want you to make me yours."



Max needed no more encouragement and began to kiss her once more. Hands groped and clothing soon became discarded. Max positioned himself at her center ready to join them as one when a thought struck him.



"What’s wrong?" Liz asked when she saw his hesitancy.



"Um...what about protection?"



"I completely forgot. Do you..."



"No." Max muttered.



This couldn’t be happening not now.



"Wait...there um..might be away." Max said slightly embarrassed.



"How?" Liz asked.



Max lifted his hand and wiggled his fingers.



"Oh...ok."



"Are you sure because I.."



"I trust you Max. And then on Monday I will set up an appointment to go on the pill."

Max moved his hand to rest low on her stomach. A soft glow appeared but was soon gone. He once again positioned himself at her center but stopped.



"What?" Liz asked a little frustrated.



"It’s going to hurt."



"I know."



"But I don’t want to hurt you."



"It’s ok Max I want our first time to be real in every possible way."



He still looked unsure, so she grabbed his butt and pushed him inside of her. Max instantly stilled at the look of pain that was on Liz’s face. He began to cover her face in light kisses, whispering that he was sorry.



"It’s ok. Just give me a second."



Soon she was gently moving her hips telling him she was ready. Their climaxes came fast and hard. Max kissed Liz deeply to muffle their cries.



They laid completely spent in each others arms.

"That was.." Max trailed off.



"Wow."



"Yeah."



"You want to do it again?" Liz asked flirtatiously.



Max just smiled.

The morning came way to fast for the two new lovers. They knew everyone was waiting for them down stairs.



"Good morning." Liz whispered as she kissed Max.



"Good morning." Max replied back. "You know we have to go down stairs and discuss what happened."



"Yeah, I know."



"Come lets get cleaned up and if you’re nice I will let you use my toothbrush."

Michael was pacing downstairs. He was getting irritated. Max and Liz should have been up by now.



He had wanted to go and wake them up but Maria had stopped him. He turned when he heard noise coming from down the hall.



"It’s about time." He muttered and went to sit down.



Maria seeing her friend looking heathy again rushed over and pulled her into a tight hug.



"I’m so glad you’re ok. You are ok right? Max fixed everything?"



"Yes Maria everything is fine." Liz said as she smiled up at Max.



Seeing the look pass between the two Maria instantly became suspicious, but decided to talk to her friend later.



Max and Liz sat down on the couch close together and the others followed taking seats around the room.



Diane came into the room and had to smile at the sight they made. She went over to Liz and gave her a hug.



"I’m so glad your ok." Diane said. "When you all are done come get breakfast. I’m making pancakes."



Liz looked over at Max questioningly.



"Yeah, she knows." Max answered her unspoken question.



"How?"



They all filled her in on what happened while she was gone. And proceeded to explain what happened when they rescued her.



"So you have never seen this man before?" Alex asked.



"No, but he has to be an alien. He took out Tess and brought back Michael and Isabel."



"So then he’s on our side." Maria stated although it sounded more like a question.



"We don’t know that. He did just kill the ‘queen’." Michael argued.



"Either way," Max said. "We need to find out who he is and why he’s here."
