CHAPTER 11








LIZ P.O.V

I wake up in a strange room.

I look down at my stomach to see that it is not as round as it used to be.

I look up and I feel a tear run down my face.

“Lizzie” his voice fills my ears and I turn to the side of my bed to see Max waking up.

“Max?”

“Baby, oh thank god … you’re ok” he says as he kisses my lips lovingly.

“Where am I?”

“At the hospital honey” he says as his tears run down his face.

“You scared me” he says and I look down.

“Where is my baby?”

“She’s ok”

“Where is she?” I ask with panic in my voice.

“She’s resting” he says as he smooths my hair back.

“I want to see her” I say as I make eye contact with Max and he nods in understanding.

“Ok” he says as he smiles slightly.

He leaves and a couple minuets later a nurse comes in with my baby girl.

“Oh My God” I cry as I take her into my arms.

“What’s her name?” I ask sadly.

“I was waiting for you actually” he says and I look at him with tears in my eyes.

“Thankyou” I say.

“It’s ok … I want you to name our daughter” he says as he sits on the bed with me.

“I want to call her Sky, it was my birthmothers name… before she died” I say and Max smiles down at me slightly.

“I think Sky is beautiful” he says and I smile down at my baby.

“Hi Sky” …

CHAPTER 12







LIZ P.O.V

“How long have I been here?” I ask softly when sky is asleep in my arms and Max lay down next to me.

“About 7 hours” he says as he kisses my forehead which is on his shoulder.

“She’s so small” I say as I tear rolls down my cheek.

“Sweetie what is it?’

“It’s my fault”

“What is?” Max asks in concern.

“She is small because of me… because I’m so small… I read it in a book” I say and Max pulls my in his arms and kisses my lips.

“It’s not your fault”

“Yes it …” I start to say but Max cuts in.

“Babies are always different … ours is small and I for one think she is absolutely beautiful just the way she is” he says as he smiles down at sky.

“I think she is beautiful too” I say as I smile down at my daughter.

“Were you scared?” I ask as I look at him and he nods as he closes his eyes and when he opens them a tear slip out.

“I thought something had gone wrong…I thought that you were…” he starts but I stop him bye sealing my lips to his.

“I’m here…always” I say and he smiles and we laugh together.

We are parents… do you believe it…???

“What happened … before I came?” he asks and I turn to him, while making sure not to wake Sky.

“I was angry at you and I was uncomfortable so I got up to make myself some tea” I say and he nods.

“I felt a sharp pain and looked down … my water had broke and I was all alone, I was so scared…I tried to call you, but you didn’t answer” I say while looking at him and seeing the look of shame in his eyes.

“I screamed and I cried and about 5 to 10 minuets later you came” I say as I look at him.

I find him looking down at Sky with a tear in his eye.

“What is it Max?”

“You where right”

“Right for what?”

“I’m never there for you and I wont be there for my daughter” he says and I look down at Sky.

“Open your arms” I say and Max looks at me confused.

“Common”

He opens his arms and I place Sky in his arms.

“You are going to be the best father … do you know why?’

“Why?’

“Because you’re the best boyfriend, the best…best friend and the kindest person I have ever met” I say and Max looks at me and I see the hope in his eyes.

“I promise I’m going to be the best daddy in the world” he says while looking down at Sky.

He looks up at me and I capture his lips.

“I love you” I say and Max smiles brightly.

“I love you, Liz” he says smiling brightly.

CHAPTER 13








LIZ P.O.V

3 WEEKS LATER

“Hey cupcake” I say as I pick up Sky and carry her in my arms.

“Morning beautiful, Morning Muffin” Max says as he comes up behind me and wraps his arms around me.

It’s been 3 weeks since I had Sky and 14 days since I left hospital.

They wanted to know that I was aright before I left.

I have lost most of my weight and I am almost back to normal, which is a really good thing considering that I had a baby less than a month ago.

“What are you doing today?” Max asks as he kisses down my neck.

“Ummm … well I was going to go to the gym and then once my boyfriend comes back from work I wanted to show him how much he is appreciated” I say and Max groans.

“Well, you go to the gym and then we will drop Sky of at my mothers and we will go out and have a romantic dinner” he says and I agree.

“Really?”

“Yes, sweetie “

“Ok, great … I’ll wear something …” I start to say but Max cuts in.

“Sexy” he finishes for me.

“Well, I should be getting to work” he says as he kisses my lips and turns to Sky who he picks up and kisses on the cheek.

“Goodbye, daddy’s little girl” He says and I smile.

“I’ll see you later sexy” he says as he smacks my ass and leaves.

He has still been going to work … he took a week off but his ‘co-worker’ couldn’t handle it on her own and needed ‘help’.

“How about we go and visit daddy after mummy and Aunty Maria and Aunty Isabel go to the gym?” I ask and Sky giggles.

“I think that’s a yes”…

CHAPTER 14









LIZ P.O.V

It is 12.30 when we finish at the gym and I put Sky in the pram.

“You ok sweetie?’ I ask and I receive a giggle in return.

“Gagabrrrrllll” …

“Ok, lets go see what your father is doing” I say and I turn to Maria and Isabel.

“Well, I’ll see you guys later” I say and they nod.

After they are done saying goodbye to Sky, they say.

“Have fun tonight” and I nod.

“I will”

I walk to the school which is not that far away.

Plus I have been walking a lot and excising extra hard … and it is good for Sky too.

When we get into the school it is still recess and I see some kids looking at me.

I just wheel Sky to Max office and once again I look through the glass.

I see that girl on the desk again and I have to put an end to this.

I have to know.

I see Max sitting in his seat and he leaning close to him while pressing against him.

I open the door and wheel the pram in.

I see Max smile as he gets up and walks over to the pram.

He takes Sky out and kisses me on my lips.

“Liz I’d like you to meet my co-worker Lana” he says and I smile over to the girl who is currently giving me the evil eye.

“Nice to meet you” I say while smiling devilish.

“And this little princess is my daughter … Sky” Max says as he carries Sky close to him.

“Hahaha… Sky, what kind of a name is that?’ she asks and I look at her.

I am ready to pound her face in.

“It was my birth mothers name… and know it’s my daughter’s name” I say and I look at Max.

“Oh My God… you were serious”

“Yes” Max says and I see the disappointment in his eyes.

“Well, I guess I should be going I only came to say hi” I say as i look at Max.

“You should stay” Max suggest with a smile.

“No Max, we have a lot of work to do…maybe another time” Lana says while smiling sweetly at him.

I walk up to him and take Sky in my arms.

“I’m gonna take Sky, to your mother’s” I say and I place Sky back into the pram.

“It was nice meeting you Lana” I say as I open the door and wheel out the pram.

I take one last disappointed look at Max and I know that he knows exactly what I am thinking.

CHAPTER 15









LIZ P.O.V

Its nearly 7 and Max should have been here an hour ago…

I brought Sky to her grandmothers … Dian’s house.

I am really disappointed in Max.

How dare he say nothing when someone was … picking on your child.

I know that there is something going on with that skank Lana and my so called boyfriends… and I am going to find out what.

For me and for my daughter…

I hear the door open and close and I feel my fist clench in anger.

“Hey, sorry I’m late… “He starts to say and I keep staring down at my hands.

“I had some work down at the school with Lana” he adds and I snap.

“Well you seem to be getting along with her fairly well” I say and Max’s head snaps in my direction.

“Yeah well, we are co-workers” he states and I smile …

… But it’s fake.

“Co-workers that like to cuddle… how sweet” I say again in a higher voice.

I am still not making eye contact…

“Cuddle?” he asks in a confused voice.

“Liz what the fuck are you talking about?” he says in a raised voice.

“Just that every time I come to your office you two look pretty cozy” I say as I glare at him for the first time.

“What?” he yells.

“Max drop the act ok…” I scream as I get up and stand in front of him.

“You are never home… you always come home late… and every time I see that bitch, you are at her side … or should I say pressed up against her?”

I see the rage start in his eyes as he stares at me.

“You think that I’m cheating on you?” he asks angrily.

“Oh no why would you…? I thought your daughter and I were enough”

“Oh no sweetie … you have enough characters in you … to do me” he says as he walks into the kitchen and I follow.

“Max you made a promise… you made a promise to be the best father ever… but you didn’t keep that promise to your daughter…” I say and maybe I shouldn’t have but I have to get through to him.

“LIZ I AM TRYING MY BEST” he screams and I jump at his tome.

“I am the only one bringing the money into the family … but I guess that’s what I get for having a teenage girlfriend” he says and I must admit …

… That hurt.

“Oh no Max that’s not true… you know why?” I say as the tears run down my cheeks.

“WHY LIZ ... TELL ME” he yells again.

“Because we are THROUGH” I yell as I grab my perse and storm out of the door.

I feel tears spill from my eyes as I run as fast as I can to my car.

I get in and start the engine.

I see Max run through the door after me but I drive off s fast as I can.

I pull up to the car park of a liquor shop and jump out.

I run in side and ask the shop keeper for a bottle of vodka.

I leave 100 dollar not on the table and run out with the bottle.

Well at least he’ll be happy … he got a tip.

But no… that is not enough for me.

I see a chemist and I run across the street…

I hide the Vodka in my bag and walk up to the tablets.

I grab what ever I can see and walk up the register.

Once I have paid for them I run back to the car and drive to my favourite place.

The only place I can be alone.

MAX P.O.V

“Oh no Max that’s not true… you know why?” she says with tears in her eyes.

“WHY LIZ ... TELL ME” I yell again.

“Because we are THROUGH” she yells as she grabs her perse and storms out.

I feel my heart break … No.

I won’t let this happen.

Lana is just a co-worker….

Even if she likes me … I could only ever love Liz.

I hear the engine of her car start and run outside, but I am too late.

I run back inside and grab my car keys.

I am going to find Liz.

KNOCK KNOCK

I knock on my parent’s house…

Maybe she is here…

I have been everywhere looking for her and I can’t find her.

“Max honey … what a surprise” My mother says as she opens the door.

“Mum, is Liz here?” I ask in a hurry.

“No honey I thought she was with you” she says and she places her hand on my shoulder.

“Did you have a fight?”

“Yes… and I can’t find her” I say as I feel a tear fall from my eyes.

“Go find her Max, Sky can stay here for the night” My mother says in understanding and I thank her.

I hear Sky start crying and I think back at what Liz said.

I am not a good father…

I did not keep a promise to my daughter.

I need her … I need Liz.

LIZ P.O.V

I jump out of the car once I have reached my destination.

I think back to the fight Max and I had…

I think back to how I was feeling…

THE FIGHT

I hear the door open and close and I feel my fist clench in anger.

And my parents were right…

They were always right…

And know another person I care for is hurt … and why?

…Because of me.

I open the bottle of Vodka and drink about half the bottle.

I feel sick already …

I then take the tablets out of my perse and take them all …I don’t know what they are all what they do…

But I take them…

… Maybe they can take away my pain.

I drink the rest of the Vodka and finish all of the tablets.

I start to feel dizzy …

I start to stumble…

And then everything goes black…

CHAPTER 18








MAX P.O.V

I am driving down the highway …

I am going to the beach that we took Liz too, for her 18th birthday.

I have a feeling she will be there.

I need to make things right…

I didn’t mean what I said…

I didn’t mean anything that I said…

Liz is a great girlfriend and I am so happy that she is mine…

… Was mine.

But that WAS is going to change because Liz is my life and I need her by my side.

I pull up to the beach and see a figure lying down.

I park the car and jump out.

I run up to the person and I soon recognise that is my Lizzie.

I look at her and see her still.

“Liz” I call her.

…But she doesn’t move.

I look in her hand and see a bottle I grab it and see that it is Vodka.

I look around and notice the empty tablet bottles and packages.

“Ohh No” I cry as I fall to my knees and cup her face in my hands.

She is still breathing … which is a good thing.

I take my jacket off and wrap it around her.

I then carry her fragile form in my arms and place her in the car.

I have to get to a doctor…
I have to bring her to a hospital…

I grab my mobile phone and look back at Liz.

She is still unconscious …

I have to call Nick.

I might hate this guy and want to rip off his head for even thinking of laying a finger on my Lizzie but what if he could help her….????

RING RING

“Hello, this is …” he starts to say but I cut in.

“Nick, its Max” I say and I hear him sigh.

“Max what can I do for you” he says in an irritated voice.

“It’s Liz…” I say and I hear the panic in his voice as he asks.

“What happened?”

“She had vodka with all these different tablets and she’s unconscious… what do I do?” I as with just as much worry in my voice.

“Bring her here… straight away” he says and we hang up.

I speed down the highway.

Every few minuets I look back at Liz, but there has been no change in her condition.

None at all…

MAX P.O.V

I rush into the emergency side of the hospital and I see Nick waiting for me.

“Bring her here” he says and I see the worry in his eyes.

“Lizzie, its gonna be ok” he whispers and I don’t like him that much right now.

But if I have any chance of getting Liz better it is going to be through him.

“What tablets?”

“I don’t know” I answer.

“How much Vodka?”

“A whole bottle” I say.

“When?”

“I don’t know”

“And you call your self her boyfriend” Nick says with disgust in his face.

“Listen we had a fight and she ran away… how was I suppose to know what would happen” I say to him and he calls the nurses, and they wheel Liz away.

“I want you out of here” Nick says pointing his finger at me.

“She’s my girlfriend” I shout.

“Not anymore” he says and before I can help myself.

I punch his face and he goes flying.

“I love her… do you hear me” I say as I walk over to him.

He is holding his cheek and looking up at me.

I outstretch my hand and help him up.

“I’m sorry” he says and I pat his back.

“Me too” I reply.

“She’s gonna be ok” he says and I feel my eyes water.

“I hope so”…

CHAPTER 20










LIZ P.O.V

I wake up in a strange room which over the time I have come to know as my second home.

I look around and see a nurse.

“Excuse me” I say and she turns to me.

“Ohh your awake dear” she says with a smile and I nod.

“How did I get here?” I ask.

“Your boyfriend brought you in” she states as she walks out to get a doctor.

The door opens and Max walks through.

I see the tears in his eyes and I feel my eyes water too.

“Lizzie” he says as he walks up to me and I feel my tears start to spill.

“I’m sorry” I say and he pulls me to him.

“God Liz…” he says and I look up at him.

“I didn’t know what to do” I say and he nods.

“Lizzie, I didn’t mean anything I said” he says and I look into his eyes while shaking my head.

“No Max I am… I’m a failure” I say and max sits beside me while holding me in his arms.

“No sweetie…” he starts to say and I cut him off.

“No Max… you’re not a bad father… I hurt you like I have hurt everyone that ever helped me… I don’t want to do that to our daughter… I could never live with myself if I did” I start to cry and Max holds me closer.

“Baby… I was a bad father”

“No Max you weren’t” I say but he presses a finger to my lips.

“But I wont be anymore” he adds and I look up at him.

“I would never … ever cheat on you Liz Parker” he says and I smile up at him.

“Yes Lana has tried to seduce me, but there is only two girls in my life and that is you and Sky” he says and I smile.

“Liz I love you so much, I couldn’t imagine my life with out you… your everything to me and I just need you by my side night and day” he says as he kisses my hand.

“I love you more than words and I was hoping for a better time to do this but I guess this is a good moment” he says as he gets down on one knee on the side of my hospital bed.

My breath hitches in my throat…

I think I am dreaming…

“Liz Parker, you’re my one, my only…. the one I love more then anything and the one I would do anything for… will you do me the honour of being my wife?” he says and I am shocked.

“Max, I love you too … so so so much” I say as I look down at him.

“Yes” I say as I lift off the bed and fall into his waiting arms.

I love this man more than anything in this world…

He and my daughter are the only things that make me happy…

The things that make me who I am…

And know, I get to spend the rest of my life with him… YAY !!!
