Max looked at his bed and shook his head when he saw Liz had pictures of Isabel, Alex, Tess, Michael, Ria, a picture of herself, and him, notepaper, pencils, and pens. He stood by the bed watching her write what Ava had told them.

“Where are you putting Tess and Alex?”Max asked

Picking up a package of pink pencils and a package of blue pencils, she opened the packages.

Liz taped a pink and a blue pencil in between our pictures and wrote one month. She drew a line down the posterboard and at the top wrote no ritual. Taking the pictures of Ava and Zan she taped them on the side for no ritual. Taking the pink pencil, she taped the pencil between the pictures and wrote two months with a question mark. On the bottom, she taped the pictures of Alex and Tess and a blue pencil in between them. She wrote not even a month.

Liz picked the picture of Michael and Isabel and taped them underneath the pictures of Zan and Ava. Picking up the pink pencil, she taped the pencil between the pictures. Max wondered if she was going to write not pregnant yet and asked, “Not pregnant yet?”

Liz shook her head no and wrote two days.

"Michael and Is have not slept together yet”Max said.

“How come I get the feeling us, women will need more blood drawn than the guys?”Isabel said.


“Cause we probably will”Liz said.

Liz wrapped the rubber band around Isabel's arm and poured rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab. She cleaned the skin on her arm and picked the needle and syringe up. Isabel felt a slight pinch as Liz pokes her with the needle. Liz filled the syringe with blood and then removed the needle from Isabel's arm. Taking another cotton swab, she placed the swab where she had removed the needle and applied pressure.

“I’ll hold it"Isabel said while she took a hold of the swab.

Liz poured the blood into another beaker and placed the beaker next to the other one containing Michael's blood. Using a pen, she wrote Isabel on a label and then put the label on the beaker with Isabel's blood. Taking out a slide and cover, she set them down on the top of Max's dresser which she was now using a mini lab.

Liz used a dropper and too some of Michael’s blood out of the beaker. She dropped a drop of the blood on the slide and then placed the cover over the blood. Placing the slide in the microscope she looked though the microscope at his blood. Dropping a drop on the slide and placing a cover over the blood.

“I really want to compare your blood to Rath’s”Liz said.

Liz took another test tube out and squeezed the rest of the blood in the dropper into it. Setting the tube into the stand, she took out another slide, cover and dropper. Placing the slide and cover on the dresser, she used the dropper to get some of Isabel's blood. She dropped a drop of blood on the slide and placed the cover on top. Picking the slide up, she placed the slide under the microscope.

Liz looked through the microscope and said, “Her cells are different from Michael’s cells in the sense that she is female.”

Max, Michael, and Isabel watched as Liz placed the blood that was left in the dropper in the same test tube she had put Michael’s blood into. Liz placed a stopper in the test tube and sealed then tube. She shook the tube mixing the blood together.

“What are you doing?”Max asked

“This is the baby’s blood”Liz answered.

Liz took out another slide and cover and set them on the dresser. Taking out a new dropper, she said, “Now to see if I am correct.”

Liz removed the stopper from the test tube and placed the dropped in the tube. She squeezed taking some of the mixed blood into the dropper. Dropping a drop onto the slide, she placed the cover on top and picked the slide up. Removing the slide with Isabel's blood, she put the slide under the microscope. She looked through the microscope and yelled excitedly, “It’s just what I thought.”

“What?”Max, Isabel and Michael asked.

“Isabel’s blood is dominating Michael’s blood. It’s changing it.”Liz said.

They all look at Liz in shock.

“Now I have to figure out the rest. But first I need four more microscopes and something that requires breaking and entering"Liz said.

“We can get the microscopes and what’s a little more breaking and entering”Max said.

“I want Maria’s medical records"Liz said.

Liz wrote down the doctor’s name and address.

“They are going to be a little pissed off”Michael said.

“Do you really care?”Isabel asked.

“No, I want answers"Michael said.

“Let’s go do this”Max said.

“Isabel can help me clean up while you are gone”Liz said.

Max and Michael leave to get the microscopes and Maria’s medical file.

“Any clue where Liz is going with this?”Michael asked

“No, none at all"Max answered before he said, “We will get the microscopes first, then her file and fast back to my house"
