ZAN
Stifling a yawn, I unlock the door of the apartment I share with my siblings and girlfriend. There is nothing in the world like coming home after a long shift at the hospital. I can’t wait to kiss Serena, shower and then crash out. A couple of hours sleep sound like heaven.
Dumping my rucksack in the hallway, I yank off my jacket and abandoned it next my bag. Isabel will give me hell when she sees that I’ve left my stuff in the hall again but at this moment I couldn’t give a damn about my sister’s bitching. All I want is some decent sleep.
“Hey bro,” I nod in greeting to Max as I walk pass him and towards my bedroom.
Music comes blaring out of the room at a deafening level as I open the door and discover Serena at her dressing table, applying what appears to be lip gloss or lip balm, I don’t know. Its something that goes on her lips and its something that I’m about to kiss right off.
I close the bedroom door.
“Hey baby,” I grin, striding across the room and closing the distance between us.
“Don’t you ‘hey baby’ me.” She orders, not even bothering to look at me.
I frown. Crap, what the hell have I done now? I haven’t even been in the room ten seconds and already she is mad at me. Did I forget a birthday, anniversary or something like that again?
I switch the music off before sitting on the bed and I yank off my boots as I ask, “What have I done now?”
“Done? What could you have possibly done?” She asks, swirling around to face me. “I haven’t seen you in the last three days.”
“You saw me yesterday night before I left for work.” I point out.
She gasps, her hazel eyes widening. “30 seconds don’t count.”
“I’m here now,” I state, tugging my t-shirt over my head and throwing it over my shoulder. “What did you do last night? And did you get my note about the tooth paste?”
“What did I do last night?” She hisses, her eyes snapping.
Crap, obviously that was the wrong thing to ask.
“I waited up for you, that’s what I did. And instead of enjoying the certain pleasures that you should have been giving me, I read a book. A frinkin book, Zan” She exclaims. “And then, like the pathetic idiot I am, I got jealous of the character in the book and had to stop reading. You ruined the whole book for me.”
I barely manage to duck out of the way as a book comes flying towards my head before crashing to the floor. “Damn it, baby.”
“Ugh! Damn you! Zan Evans, you are so annoying. I don’t know why I love you but God, help me, I do.”
“I’m here now,” I repeat my earlier statement as I stride back across the room towards her. Crouching down in front of her, I grin and push a kiss to the inside of her wrist, a extremely sensitive spot of hers, “And I’m all yours. I‘ll make it up to you.”
She snorts in what seems to be distaste and rolls her eyes but I can see her softening. I resist the urge to smirk with male pride. She’s never been able to resist me and the day she does, is the day I know that it is well and truly over. But I don’t see that day ever happening.
“I’ve got the whole day planned out for us,”
She raises an eyebrow in disbelief.
“We can take a long hot shower and then curl up in bed together. I‘ll do that thing you like and you can do that thing I like.” I murmur, caressing her jean covered knees with my thumb, slowly inching a little higher bit by bit. “And after that I’ll even let you put some trashy chick flick on and won’t whine one bit through it. I promise.”
“That’s because you’re be a sleep.” She says, rolling her eyes and pushing me away so that she can stand up. “And I can’t. I already have a date with two handsome guys, who actually want to spend time with me.”
I raise an eyebrow, “Who?”
She shrugs prettily and starts dropping some girly bits and pieces into a purse.
I stretch out on the bed we share and watch her move gracefully around the room. She can try and make me jealous all she wants, I know that she would never betray me because like she said only a few seconds ago, she loves me.
When she moves to the bedside table and starts rummage through the drawer, I make my move and pounce, yanking her into my lap in a ungraceful heap. I wrap one arm around her waist tightly, making sure that there is no escape for my lady love.
“Zan, I don’t have time for this.” She says, blowing a stray curl out of her face. “Alex and Seth are going to be here any second.”
I watch her lips move, my original plan to kiss that shiny lip stuff off her pretty lips returning to the front of my mind. I pull her forward so that our lips are barely touching, “Alex and Seth? So you’re not planning on leaving me for some pretty boy?”
She tuts, “Of course not.”
“Good because otherwise I would have to do my own laundry again,” I smirk as Serena gives a little scream of indignity and smacks her hand to my chest but before she can start to rant, I capture her lips in a kiss that holds promises of what is to come later. Its slow, hot and about as passionate as they come.
“I have to go,” She murmurs, caressing my chest with a feather light touch.
“Stay with me,” I whisper before nibbling her bottom lip as she sighs. She tastes like peaches and heaven.
“Mmmm, I can’t.” She says, pulling away and climbs off of me and the bed.
I groan as I close my eyes and lie back completely on the bed. I think I’m going to need a long cold shower after she is gone otherwise I’m never going to get any sleep.
A few seconds later, I feel her hair caress my face as she leans over me, her breathe is warm and sweet against my cheek. Not only does she tastes like peaches but she smells like them too.
“Get some sleep because you won’t be getting any when I get back,” She whispers huskily in my ear, her hand moving down my chest towards my jeans. Her hand stops just short of my waist and she presses a kiss to corner of my mouth.
“Tease.” I growl, smacking her playfully on the ass. “I’ll get you back for that.”
She laughs, “I’m counting on it.”
“Love you,” I mumble, rolling over onto my stomach and burying my face into a pillow, which smells of Serena.
