Well. You didn't have to wait long. It's here already :P. It's not as long tho. You shall understand why once you have read it.

PART ELEVEN

“Liz?” He whispered “oh Liz…” his head dropped into her hair as he began to weep. Weep for the love he had lost. Weep for the pain he caused her. Weep for the life she never had a chance to enjoy. To live. The thought that he no longer had the woman of his dreams, his soul mate, sent his whole body is a fit of despair. His body began to shake violently and his heart to break into two pieces.

Instantly he knew that half of it was to go to with Liz to where ever she was to go, the other to lie dead and broken in his chest for eternity.

*I’m going to be alone* he thought to himself. He winced in pain as he realised that no one had answered him. Tears trickled down his cheeks, wetting Liz’s hair through, as he lifted hi head from where it was nestled. He wanted to see her rosy cheeks; he wanted to see her emerald eyes. He wanted to see her alive. He wanted to smell her strawberry moisturiser as she came up close to him. He wanted to be able to feel her warm skin beneath his hands.

He closed his eyes, resting his head against the wall. He could just remember what it felt like to be touched by Elizabeth Parker. It always sent chills through his body and made his spirit fly high. At times he felt so charged just by a simple touch from the woman. Sometimes it comforted him; it worked its way down into his soul and calmed the storm within. His soul was crying out for her as he sat there. Moments had pasted, his hands in her hair, stroking it as if she were still alive.

His back became tense as he sensed the others come into the room.

“LIZ!” screamed a distort Maria. His eyes flew open to the scene infront of him. Maria was nestled in Michael’s firm hold. Max was expecting his eyes to show no emotion, but something had changed his brother. Michaels gaze was focused on the body that was resting in Max’s arms, tears spilling from his eyes as he let out the emotion he held within. As Maria’s legs gave way he lifted her gently and took her from the room.

Valenti stood by the doorway with Tess and the small child, tears evident in their eyes.

Max turned to Isabel. Her hand was held firmly by Alex. His need for comfort was shown greatly on his face. Max studied Alex’s face, his eyes wondered over Liz and Max could see his heart in his mouth. He hadn’t believed her when she had said that she wasn’t sure she would survive the birth. He had always thought that she was exaggerating, thinking of the worst situation possible. A violent and loud cry escaped his body as it began to sink in. He had let her down. He hadn’t believed his best friend. Valenti went towards him, placing a hand on his shoulder to calm him.

Jim had always made him weary but Jim had proven to everyone, mostly to Alex, that he was worthy of their trust and although he had only known him for a little while, he still felt like Jim was a father figure. He had been the one to turn to if he had problems with Anya. He was the one Alex turned to when he was upset about Isabel, when he craved her to be the woman he once fell in love with. He laughed to himself mentally because even though she didn’t know that, he still felt she was his. He loved Isabel Evans and she was going to be his one-day.

He looked at her. Almost instantly Isabel let go of his hand, letting it drop to his side, as he stepped forward to Max. He knelt before them and began to stroke Liz’s soft cheek.

“She’s getting cold.” He whispered through tears. “Maybe she would be more comfortable somewhere warmer” All Max could do was nod and begin to stand, Liz in his arms.

He carried her for what seemed forever, and placed her in the bed he had slept in with Ava for the last couple of days. His heart filled with guilt, and his eyes filled with tears as he thought about the pain he had caused her by simply being with Ava. With Tess. He stumbled back as the sobs took over, and slumped to the floor.

“I’m sorry Liz.” He whispered. He wiped his face of tears as he looked at her. He waved his hand over the dress, ridding of the offending blood and just sat observing her. She looked so peaceful, so at rest.

“Once upon a time you told me that the day I save you was the day my life … my life…ended. I remember the way yyyyou felt. You felt so strongly that I shouldn’t have saved you. I should have let you die. But Liz” he lifted his hand up to her forehead, brushing away strands of hair “I couldn’t because I loved you. I have loved you since the day I stood off the bus, since the first day I saw you. I remember… remember the way I felt about you, even then. I just wanted to run to you and pull you into my arms and run away with you forever and ever.” He laughs, “I do remember the night of your blind date. I actually remember telling you that nothing else matters.” He paused, drawing a breath, “But that’s the thing you see… it didn’t then and it still doesn’t now. At the time I was scared. Scared that if I got too close I would feel for once. I was scared I wouldn’t want to go back to where ever I came from. I was scared I would fall in love. But the thing I realised was… I … was already in love, so I couldn’t stay away.” Fresh tears began to surface as he spoke. “I love you Liz. What am I going to do without you?” He lifted his hand from her forehead and placed it on her hand, holding it tightly. “You can’t be gone.” He whispered fiercely “You can’t be… I won’t let you. I won’t! I won’t! I won’t!” His whisper began turning into a shout. “I won’t let you leave me Liz! You can’t! We are meant to be together! You and me! Our baby.” He hand flew to his mouth as he realised he was a father. “We have a child Liz. You’re … you’re a mother.” Tears filled his eyes to the brim as he continued. “I’m a… a … a father.” He turned to Liz once again. “I need you. WE need you.” He closed his eyes with frustration as he shook her arm. “I need you Liz. You have no right to leave us! We need you! I… I … I… neeed you” His shouts dimmed down to a slight whisper as he laid his head down on the bed. “I love you” Tears fell down his cheeks as he began to fall into an uneasy sleep, making him miss the light that suddenly engulfed the room.

*****Dream*****
Max was stood at the doorway of the room, looking at the sight before him. Liz’s dead body, covered in blood. As he steps closer, her eyes fly open, blood shot and emotion filled.

“You promised me Max.” she said, her voice despairing. “You promised me that you wouldn’t let anything happen to me.”

“But I couldn’t heal you!” Tears choked him as they fell. “I tried… Liz… I really tired.”

“YOU PROMISED ME MAX EVANS!” she screamed as she stood from the floor. “You lied to me. Just like you continued to lie to me.”

As her small steps brought her closer to him, he could see the fury held within her eyes. A fury that scared him and sent guilt raging in his stomach.

“I don’t… don’t understand.” He stuttered. “I did… didn’t lie to you. I never have done”

“You told me you wouldn’t let anything happen to me! You told me you wouldn’t let me die!” Liz stopped directly in front of him, her hands clenched by her side. “I won’t let you lie to me again!” Her clenched hands suddenly shot from her side to his throat, squeezing the air out of him.

“Liz!” He screamed “Liz… stop it! LIZ!”
*****End of dream*****

* * * * * * *

“I can’t believe… it.” Maria gasped in a gaze. She was still held firmly in Michaels embrace, many hours after Liz’s death, both were silently letting tears fall as they began to grieve.

“She was so… so… young.” Alex exclaimed as he looked at the window. His arms were tightly wrapped around his chest; as if, if he were to let go his heart would fall out of it. The pain was so severe he just wanted to curl up in a ball and hide away for the rest of his life. He had never known what grief felt like until now. Time and time again he had been there for those who had been suffering due to the loss of a person they loved, yet it had never been him and as he looked out the window, he realised that he was alone in his grief. There was no one to carry him through because everybody on the ship was grieving for the lost of his dearest friend Elizabeth Parker. He had no one to turn to. Max had Isabel, Maria had Michael and Valenti had himself.

Everyone remained in silence for severals minutes remembering Liz’s short life. One full of joy, pain, friendship and love. One worth remembering. Tears slid down each cheek, each chest ached from the sobs and each sob left every person feeling weary. Maria smiled to herself as she remembered the moment she had decided that being with any member of the pod squad would not be good for their health.

The sentence “Me… I’m Teflon babe!” rang through her mind. It now sounded so ridiculous to think that she had actually said that, yet even more so because she wasn’t Teflon. She didn’t just leave Michael when things went wrong. She just couldn’t do it. Tears sprang to her eyes as she realised that, although things had worked out all right for her and Michael, what had happened to Liz was the evidence that being with an alien was going to get you hurt. She had wished that it had been her that had suffered, not Liz. She had always known that Liz would be strong with out Maria but it didn’t work out that way. Maria didn’t have Liz to fall back on now. She needed her best friend to help her guide her through her life, help untangle all the different and complex webs of emotions and help her figure out what she wanted in life. Now she had to do it on her own, which was a task that had always seemed impossible but now a reality.

“I wonder if Max is okay,” Tess whispered as she sat rocking back and forth, the young infant in her arms, making Maria turned to her. Her grief was evident in her eyes, which shocked Maria. She had never seen this woman show much emotion at all except complete and utter lust towards Max. The moment Tess had started to cause trouble between Liz and Max, Maria had already made up her mind that she hated her. She didn’t think about the fact Tess was still human to some degree, a factor she never took in to account when she was judging her. She watched as Tess’ gaze fell to the child within her arms, a whole new emotion began flooding over her. Compassion. This woman was still a woman. No matter how much she tried to rationalise it, Tess had always been the big bad alien to her and by just simply watching her, she was being to realise how similar she was to a teenage girl. She dreamt of meeting the love of her life, she wanted a big fancy wedding and she wanted to have a child. It was all marked on this woman’s face. For the first time ever, Maria was seeing the real Tess Harding. She sighed at the thought that it’s in times of grief where you can see a totally different side to a person.

“He’ll never be okay,” whispered Isabel in reply. “She meant everything to him. He will never be able to live happily again. He won’t be able to live.” She sighed as she began retreating in to her mind.

*Typical Isabel Evans* she thought to herself. *Hide away in your own mind when the going gets tough* the feeling of shame began to creep all over her body as she contemplated the fact she wasn’t by her brothers side at the time he needed her most. Yet what good would it actually do to be there? What go will it do if you are not the one person he needed most? She knew he would just shut her out anyway so she had already given up. She kicked herself as she realised she hadn’t even tried to help him grieve, to help with the situation and his emotions. She could picture him doing all sorts of things as a way of repenting for whatever pain he had put Liz through. Panic began to take over her body.

“We need to check up on him” she exclaimed as she headed out the door. “I think he might do something stupid” Her legs couldn’t move quickly enough as she ran towards the room where Liz’s body laid, the rest of the group following her. Her body was buzzing with adrenaline as the thought of her brother’s dead body, lying cold and motionless on the floor of the room, flashed across her mind. Her hands trembled violently with expectation of finding his body and as she swung the door open, the only word that could form on her lips was

“Liz.”

PART TWELVE (FINAL PART)

*****Dream*****
Max was stood at the doorway of the room, looking at the sight before him. Liz’s dead body, covered in blood. As he steps closer, her eyes fly open, blood shot and emotion filled.

“You promised me Max.” she said, her voice despairing. “You promised me that you wouldn’t let anything happen to me.”

His whole body shook as he woke with a start, his eyes wide and his mouth letting go of the word “Liz”. He flew sideways onto the cold hard floor, his hands tightly wrapped around his own throat, making him gasp for air.

“Max!” Was the only name he could hear as someone tried to pull his hands away from his throat. The soft hands that wrapped themselves around his wrists pulled hard against his strength and finally prized his hands away. Air flooded his lungs, as he took in huge gulps of air into his body as he laid face first on the floor.

“Thanks” He said meekly as he remained laid out on the floor, his eyes closed. “Bad dream” He added as an excuse. He had known that although he had a dream, his own body was reacting in the way he felt it should. He wanted to die because of the pain he had caused Liz. He couldn’t understand that he had let it happen and because of it, he wanted to die. Life without Liz was not worth living and the guilt was sending him to the edge of despair. Tears sprang to his eyes as he remembered the dream. The fury, the pain and the blood sent him into a fit of sobs on the floor, his body aching from the heart ache.

“Shhhh” A hand was placed on the small of his back and began rubbing it in the circular motion that had always been able to calm him down. A smile came to his face as he remembered the night in the bus after making love with Liz. Liz had rubbed the small of his back as he cried about the torment he had been subjected to, it was the one comforting moment that freed him of all the pain he felt. This was just as soothing.

His heart leapt in his mouth. His heart skipped a beat. He couldn’t open his eyes as he took in the familiar smell. Strawberries.

“Liz?”

He couldn’t bare to open his eyes as he waited for the reply. He couldn’t bare to think that maybe he was dreaming again. He couldn’t bare to think that some sick twist of fate or some sick mind warp was being put on him. His heart began to pound in his chest as he waited. Yet nothing came. Not one word could be heard, making his heart sink and fresh tears came to his eyes.

Finally a hand found its way to his cheek, caressing it. The sweet caress made his skin come alive with all new emotions and memories. The soft skin was awaking something deep in side. Something that just an hour ago had been taken away from him. A connection.

The hand made its way to his chin, lifting it up in the air. His fears finally disappeared as her lips crashed down on to his. The kiss so tender and sweet. So needing and loving. A kiss that only woman could give. His hands reached into her hair as he grasped on to her, determined that he wouldn’t let go. He sat up as he pulled her into his lap, his hands tracing down her long hair. The kiss began to slow as he pulled away to look at her.

“Liz” Tears of joy formed in his eyes. “Am I dreaming?” He asked as he swept away a piece of hair from her face his other hand tracing down her cheek as he gazed into the eyes of the woman he loved. “If this is a dream, it is simply cruel” he whispered.

Her eyes gazed at his expression of pain and love as he spoke. Her heart was racing, her breathing shallow and fast. She bit her bottom lip as she pressed her forehead to his.

“You’re not dreaming Max” she paused “I died. But you’re not dreaming” Her hands started to roam over his body, as she began to hum the song she had sang to her child earlier. The last song she had sung before her death. She took in a deep breath as she realised how it sounded. It sounded ridiculous, yet it was not a lie. She had died. Yet now she was back. It was hard for her to understand but she knew one thing. She was given a second chance and she had changed. She could feel the new energy within her body. An energy so powerful she couldn’t understand how she was holding it all in. She was practically buzzing inside.

“How?” He asked in a whisper.

“I don’t care Max, because like you said. Nothing matters anymore. We are meant to be together and whether I die tomorrow or fifty years from now, my destiny is the same: its you” A smile etched across her face as the words sank in. “I love you Max, I could never leave you. You should know that” Her eyes wandered to his lips as she spoke. Her cheeks flushed into a slight crimson as she stood, her hand grasping Max’s and backing towards the bed.

All he could do was simply follow, his hands removing his clothing as he did so. Liz sat delicately on the bed, her body still sore from the birth, a soreness that disappeared the moment Max placed his hand on her body, sending a tingling sensation over her.

“Thank you” she whispered contently.

Liz’s attention soon came to Max’s expression and trembling hands. She stood up holding them.

“What is it Max?” she asked calmly.

“I just… I just didn’t think I would ever…” A single finger was placed upon his lips before he could continue. The words he was to utter were words to painful for her ears. Although she was back, it didn’t stop her feeling a twinge of remorse about the fact she had died. Tonight she needed him, because she knew what was waiting for her after death and she wanted life to be about the present. Not about what had happened in the past.

She brought her hands to the tie of her white robe. She undid the knot and let the robe fall to the floor, revealing her naked body underneath.

“I don’t want to think about that anymore Max. Yes, you nearly lost me, but I’m here now and I need you.” A tear escaped her eye as she spoke “I need you to comfort me.” Max moved forward, pulling her into a passionate kissing, sending her backwards towards the bed. Pulling him down towards her Liz began to remove the rest of his clothing. Her body aching for him.

Her soul sang out with joy as a connection began to form as they kissed, their hands roaming across their bodies, examining every part. The connection came to life in full force, allowing Max to feel the true extent of Liz’s pain and courage and as he pulled away he looked at her with awe.

“Liz…” he whispered. “I love you” Her eyes fixated on to his as he spoke. Her heart began to burst as she felt the love he felt towards her. She was beautiful in his eyes, always was and always will be. She could feel how he felt about his actions with Ava. Guilt and discomfort. She gasped as she realised that not once did Max feel anything for Ava. He felt he had to sleep with her in order to protect Liz. He had truly believed that his actions were the right thing. Tears formed in her eyes as she felt how crushed, devastated and heart broken he had been when she had died.

“It was as if the whole world ended. I was numb,” he breathed before kissing her.

*I love you Max Evans* she thought as her eyes met Max’s. Max pulled himself on top of the woman he loved and lovingly gazed in to her emerald eyes. Tears filled both their eyes as their bodies began to become one and as a rhythm was formed, the sweet declarations of their love for one another filled their minds.

*I love you*
*I love you*

* * * * * * *
Liz moved from the bed, leaving a peacefully sleeping Max, and sat in the chair opposite. A whole new sense of calm and belonging began to fall over her. Finally she had ties that bonded her and Max together forever. There could no longer be late night talks from Max about how dangerous it was and how different they were to be together, they had responsibilities now as parents so they had to stick together. They were parents after all. She smiled to herself as she sensed her child sleeping peacefully in the arms of Tess, a woman she now understood and trusted because her child trusted her.

She looked towards Max once again and sighed contently. She was home and now her life was perfect. They were together at last and were parents to a beautiful little girl, so contentment was sure to fill every inch of her soul. Max’s stirring caused Liz to worry. He still blamed himself for his part in her distress over the last couple of weeks, Ava, his mother, the birth and her death. Perhaps he was to blame; perhaps he did do nothing and was selfish. However, she had to see it from his view. He was going to lose her. That was plain and simple. The dream had told them so in the first place. The whole Anya situation just made everything worse and broke him even more. She looked at the broken man that laid on the bed, his eyes closed tightly as he saw an angry Liz Parker shouting and screaming at him. His head tossed from side to side as he lips let out light whimpers of despair and her heart went out to him. Her heart went out to him because the broken man that was laid on the bed was Max Evans, yet he wasn’t. He had changed because of all the torment and the reinstating of the memories of his past life.

A past life that he will always use to mentally punish himself. To some degree Max had always known about Zan, because after all Max was Zan in essence and it was reflected in how much Zan was like Max. The fact he now knew about the actions that Zan took, he was horrified to think that maybe he was like that man. He was horrified to think that he could hurt Liz, something that Max Evans would never intentionally do and it was killing him. He had pulled away as a result of his memories and fears, but as Liz reflected on it, she began understand that she had allowed him to. She had pushed him away by reminding him about the fact she wasn’t going to survive because of the fact he wasn’t human. So he had grasped on to his alien side, a side that had been awakened, with both hands so he could feel safe and normal. He wanted to remember what it felt like to be normal and Ava embodied that.

Liz knew she should hate Ava and Tess but didn’t and even understood why he had done what he did. But that was all in the past. They had a family now and the present was all that mattered. A smile swept over her lips as she felt the presence of her child nearing the room, and heard a panicked Isabel open the door.

The blonde woman flew open the door with such swiftness, the still motionless state she adopted seemed to make her look like she was moving in slow motion. Their eyes met across the room. Emotional eyes sent looks of joy, hope and surprise back to Liz as she sat in the chair and the others gathered around the doorway, shock evident on their faces.

“Liz” Isabel finally managed to say, stepping in the room, after finally finding the ability to move her legs. She was almost knocked off her feet as an ecstatic Maria bounded towards Liz at the speed of light with Alex following closely, pulling her into their arms as their arms found her. The embrace was squeezing every single last bit of air out of Liz’s lungs, yet she didn’t stop them or beg for mercy, she squeezed tighter because she could feel the grief that they had been experiencing. A grief that their best friend, Liz, could take away with the tightest hugs known to man. A gleeful laughter began to escape her lips as the embrace continued. For once she felt like she truly belonged and was going to savour this moment as one to truly look upon with happiness because her death had reunited the group, a group she feared had been too torn apart to fix.
* * * * * * *

As Liz tore herself out of the bundle of people, who had just grouped around her and held her in a collective hug, and she walked quickly up to Tess, who was still holding the naked child in her arms. Tess searched Liz’s face for anger, hatred and disgust, yet found none, Liz was actually smiling at her, her arms wide open as she gestured to have her baby returned to her. As she cradled her child in her arms she began to hum softly. Tears came to her eyes as she spoke to Tess.

“Thank you” she whispered, smiling as she saw the look of shock cross the woman’s face. “She trusts you, so therefore I trust you”

A startled Maria stepped forward, her mouth wide with questions.

“How?” She asked “How do you know that?” Liz brought her head up, moving across the room to the side of the bed where a sleeping Max laid. He was still repenting for the crimes he believed he had committed, and seemed to have no intention of waking soon, even with his whole family in the room.

“We are linked, I can feel her emotions. Its result of the change,” she paused as she realised she hadn’t actually explained why she was still walking around when she had died a couple of hours ago. The red blush of embarrassment filled her cheek at the realisation. “I know you are all wondering why I’m walking around when I had obviously died earlier.” She paused to look for the indication she needed to carry on.

“Yes!!” Blurted Maria and Alex together in unison.

“It’s not everyday someone you know, who had died, decides to come back to life” said Michael sarcastically. This made Liz giggle. It sounded so ridiculous; the whole situation was ridiculous.

“Things really don’t change do they?” she asked as her laughter began to die down. Everyone began to giggle with her in response. Things really hadn’t changed, even after her death, everything was all the same as it had always been.

“Seriously” Isabel blurted out, desperate to know how Liz was alive. “How are you here?” Liz lifted the little bundle in her arms as an indication.

“This little one here. I had to die, so I could protect her.” She smiled “This all sounds too ridiculous to be true, but it is. I had to die so I could change. A part of my human side died to allow me to tap in to something I never knew existed. I have powers to protect her and an intense bond with this little one here because of it. The night before this all happened, back at the pod chamber, I had a dream, which made me believe that me giving birth would kill me. I misinterpreted it as a terrible thing, when it wasn’t. It was the start of a whole new life for me.”

Max began to stir again as she spoke, breaking her train of thought. She rested her hand on his shoulder to try to anchor him back. He needed to leave his place of hatred. He needed to come back to her so she could help heal him.

“Max” she whispered “Max… wake up” Isabel came to her side as she watched Max wake. Tears formed as he woke to the sight of his child in the arms of his soul mate, an image he never thought he would have the chance to see.

“Liz” he uttered quietly as he brought his hand to caress her soft cheek. He became lost in the jade eyes that radiated love for him. He didn’t deserve such a caring and compassionate woman, who loved him unconditionally even after all that had happened between them. He had always thought that she would turn her back on him every time he did something to hurt her, yet she didn’t. She stood tall and stayed by him because she loved him with all her heart and soul. In the same way Max would move the earth for her, she would do it for him. A world with out her was a world not worth living on, and it was the same for her. They loved each other.

*And always will* he heard rang through his head, bringing a smile across his lips. He had missed that sort of intimacy, once a pain in the ass, now a token of love.

Isabel’s watch drew his attention, as he sat up. She stretched out her hand, smiling.

“Congratulations on the birth of little girl. She is perfect” He took her hand, and drew his attention to the little girl, who was sound asleep in her mother’s arms. Fresh tears fell at the wondrous sight that was his daughter. She was perfect in everyway, she had an energy about her that made Max understand that this little girl was going to be special and as she opened her eyes and looked at him, his heart skipped a beat. Those eyes. They were as piercing as Liz’s.

“She’s going to be heart breaker” said Michael as he saw those eyes. Her beauty was going to astound the world, and yet again she was something to envy Max Evans for. He had everything that Michael could possibly want, and from that moment on he knew that he would strive to achieve it with the love of his life, Maria. With that thought he placed a soft kiss on her forehead.

As everyone remained in silence looking down on the young child, Valenti’s eyes shot open. “Does anyone realise we are still on a space ship to Antar?”

Horrified looks were exchanged as they realised that this couldn’t get any worse. Alex ran to the nearest window and gasped. He could see Antar like he could see the moon from earth. They were practically there.

“er… guys?” he exclaimed “I think we are there already!” Everyone turned their heads to look at their leader… Max Evans, Zan of Antar. There eyes all fixed on him questioning him. They had always needed him to be the strong one, the one they depended on and yet again it was his time to make the decision. He moved closer to Liz, his arm around his family and finally spoke the words no one expected him to say.

“Looks like we are going home” he said nervously
