Like why not try the healing stones on Alex...either? Or at least try everything before accepting his death.
Oh I doubt the healing stones would have saved Alex. There really isn't a stitch of belief inside of me that thinks the healing stones could have ever brought back Alex or that even if some how they could use the granolith to change things...that it would have made a difference.
I'm not questioning the power or validity of what the healing stones could and could not do. But more...why it was never even a thought that occurred to any of them. I think...Alex was meant to die at the point and I don't' think anything would have changed it...but I still question why none of them thought about the healing stones, the granolith, taking him to river dog...anything more than what they did do.
As irrational as it, I think if I lived in a universe where someone has healing powers, their are healing stones, there is a potential for time travel...I'm going to at least try it all...just so that I have peace of mind that I tried everything I could and nothing saved him. But I tried and I didn't leave it up to chance and didn't leave out that possibility or chance of something more.
Its more about the trying and getting that closure of "you've done everything you can." - that is what i"m talking about.
I mean...you want stop the end of the world...and you believe time travel can stop it and change events...Why not at least try the healing stones regardless of how irrational it may seem. I'm not saying that any of them should've actively seeked out ways to bring Alex back...but for the tools they did have at that time...use 'em.
