~KIVAR~

I am brought back to the present by Vilandra chattering on about going to Valentia and her last vacation to Reschvet. I take a sip of my coffee before saying, "I envy her. She's surrounded by family that love her and she probably doesn't lock them in closets or beat them when they are bad." I am in a foul mood and I don't really know why. "I'm sorry, Vilandra, but I can't get away from here right away. It'll be at least a week before we can go. I have Moxon's trial to deal with first, I'm afraid. But we can definitely make preparations to go and it'll give you time to get some more dresses made if you like."

~MARIA~

I hobble along on my crutches, grateful that my room isn't far from the informal dining room and also glad that I locked Basil in my chambers. I certainly wouldn't want him dancing around my feet and have a repeat performance of yesterday. I finally arrive outside the door, panting from the exertion. I thought crutches would be fun when I was younger. Now I know just how much work they are and how far away things seem when you have to be on them. The footman opens the door and I smile gratefully at him.

Hopping in, I flop down in my chair unceremoniously. "Morning, everyone, sorry I'm late."

I look up with a scowl on my face when he passes a sarcastic remark about Michael's mother.What's his problem?I doubt he wants anybody else to be happy if he's not happy.I bite my tongue to keep from replying.

I sigh in disappointment.I certainely don't care about getting any more dresses made.I have enough to clothe a small kingdom."I thought I could leave with Tess." I reply and take a sip of my orange juice feeling disappointed

I bang my fist on the small table, making both of us jump. "Damn it, Vilandra, why can't you just wait for me? It's only one more week and do have a kingdom to run. I want to go with you, is that so wrong?" I ask her.

I reach out and grab her hand, trying to make her see that I want this for us too. "That's one more week, we can try to work things out for our relationship." As soon as those words are out of my mouth, I feel that flutter again, but it's much stronger this time. What the hell is that? It's not an unpleasant feeling but it is rather unnerving. Where is it coming from?

I jump when he brings his fist down on the table with a bang,and I close my eyes,expecting an outpouring of rage,"Damn it, Vilandra, why can't you just wait for me? It's only one more week and do have a kingdom to run. I want to go with you, is that so wrong?"

I nod my head,"I'm sorry,I wasn't thinking." I squeeze his hand trying to be reassuring "Of course I want us to go together,I just got caught up in the excitement of going to Valentia.I hear it's beautiful.It will be so nice for us to get away from all this madness Kivar.I can hardly wait."

Beautiful morning? I'm sure *Kyle's cousin* would beg to differ if she arrives today. It certainly isn't the best weather for traveling. But I haven't heard from Kyle yet so Isabel will probably not arrive today.

I steal a glance at my father, contemplating whether I should tell him about my visitor or not. Might be better if I don't, he'd only ask for details which I don't have. Turning my attention back to my sister, I can't help and ask,

"Do you, Maria and your two shadows have anything special planned for today?"

I narrow my eyes at her. "Something's different about you, Lonnie. What is it?" I ask. It's a very distinct feeling but not strong enough for me to pinpoint it. I hope she's feeling all right.

~LIZ~

I shake my head, swallowing the mouthful of food I have before answering. "I just have my audiences with you of course, but other than that, I didn't have anything planned. How about you, Maria?" I look at her and almost laugh out loud at her grimace.

~MARIA~

I grimace at her question before sighing and shaking my head. "No, no plans. I'm afraid that I can't do a lot of walking though. It takes me forever to get anywhere on those stupid crutches. Did you have anything on your planner for today, Alex?" I ask, eyeing him suspiciously. He sounds...different somehow, a little preoccupied.

I narrow my eyes slightly at Maria. Figures that one of the two girls would notice something and ask me. They are too smart for me.

"No, nothing really planned. Aside from going into town and breaking some hearts again." I say the last with a wink, hoping that it would get Maria forget about whatever she was thinking about.

"Why don't you take a cartridge and let yourself drive somewhere, Maria?" I ask before glancing out the window. "Okay, forget it, stupid question."

What is it?" he asks me sharply and for a brief yet terrifying second I think he knows my plans but then I realise he couldn't possibly since I haven't felt him in my head, "No,nothing's different about me.I mean nothing that I am aware of." I give him a slight smile "Why do you ask?"

I shake my head sadly at the weather. "I think I'll stay indoors today, thank you very much. Maybe Max will tell us more about Antar later. What time are the audiences today, morning or afternoon?" I ask them.

~LIZ~

I swallow my last bite of food and answer Maria's question. "Morning. They're supposed to be starting at 10, right Alex?" I ask him to confirm. I just hope there aren't a lot of disputes. I really hate those.

~KING JEFFREY~

I stand up from the table. "Well, you guys have a good day if I don't see you soon. I have some important interviews this morning myself." With that, I lean over and kiss my daughter's cheek and head out of the dining room.

~KIVAR~

I watch her for a moment but shake my head as I finish my coffee. "Can't really put my finger on it but there's something...different." I shrug. "Oh well. Maybe it's just me. I have another headache this morning. I'm going to try to talk to Tess in the gardens. I could use the walk. I'll leave you for now, though." I stand up and lean over to kiss her.

Damn, I totally forgot about the audience, I'll have to take my communicator with me in case Kyle contacts me.

Watching my father leave, I turn to the two girls again. "So ladies, did you have a great time yesterday with the two bodygards?"
