Oh dear. I may be male, but Ive had enough experience with Isabel to know when she sounds like that...shes not serious. I scratch my ear nervously.

I had a good day with the design business and have been asked to design yet another wedding ensemble, but seriously, Max... I'm beginning to burn out."
So...she had a good day...but shes tired. And the tiredness thing is all thats upsetting her? Why do I get the feeling that...this is going to result in me doing something?

She looks at me as she dishes out some food. "That's why when Michael gets here I have something to discuss with the both of you. Something that I think is long past due for all three of us."
Oh dear. I smile as I take the food from her. "Thank you, it looks amazing." I kiss her cheek. "Well...Im sure we can discuss whatever it is you want us to discuss." I say awkwardly. Please dont let this be something I have to do...

I start to sneak upstairs when I hear Isabel complaining to Max that she’s burnt out and I perk up a little at that. That’s exactly how I’ve been feeling. Maybe this talk with Isabel won’t be so bad after all. The food does smell good too. Setting my shoes on the stairs, I decide to try to make peace and head for the kitchen.

“Hey, guys, what smells so good in here?” I ask.

"Thank you, it looks amazing." Max kisses my cheek as he takes the offered plate. "Well...Im sure we can discuss whatever it is you want us to discuss." Yeah, I kind of expected that sort of look and sound in his voice. He never did seem to like it when I got determined.

“Hey, guys, what smells so good in here?” I turn as I hear Michael's voice and frown at him before turning to dish some food out for him as well.

"Dinner, which both of you were late for. Sit down, Michael, Max... we've got to eat. And, we've got to talk." I tell both men as I turn and place Michael's plate in front of him. Once that's done, I dish a plate for myself and settle down at the table with them.

"Things have become far too mundane. I'm getting burnt out and I think that we all need a vacation. I don't know where yet, but somewhere different. Somewhere that we can just relax and be ourselves and not have to stress over deadlines, jobs and such. We have built great lives for ourselves, become very successful, but the time has come to take a break. I want all of us to take a month off." I say before taking the first bite of the meal I'd worked so hard to cook for all of us.

"I always knew I'd benefit from being friends with you,sooner or later. Thsi is the life...here with my two girls...the guys at work should see me now.They're always pulling my leg about not getting a date. I'm out now with two of Roswell's hottest babes."

"At least he knows it Ria, I'd just like to convince everyone else." I grin at her, then sigh when I sink into the plush leather, "This is amazing! I can't believe you got off so lucky when I'm stuck with neck cramps from pulling all-nighters!" I pout, winking at her to let her know I'm only playing.

"So, after this whole date thing, I was wondering how long my beefcake and the second hottest girl were in town. I wanna hang out some before you guys leave." God, I forgot what it was like to just sit around and talk with my friends. I think I might have spent just a bit too much time with my books.

"On the other hand...if I end up with my perfect dream guy, I may just ask you two to go back to your glamorous lives and let me get some action." I laugh, then sober up when I realize just how long it's been. What am I, a nun? "It's a good thing I'm already registered guys, maybe it won't take me as long to hook up as the two of you." Wow. Hook-up? I must be horny! So must for wining and dining, ladies and gentlemen, Liz Parker is all set to go straight to bed!

I roll my eyes at Alex's cheesy comment but cant help grinning,

"On the other hand...if I end up with my perfect dream guy, I may just ask you two to go back to your glamorous lives and let me get some action."
She laughs before stopping. I look at her wondering what shes thinking about,

"It's a good thing I'm already registered guys, maybe it won't take me as long to hook up as the two of you."
Hook-up? Ok... Liz is in a wierd old mood!

I smile. "Thats true... but hey. I know that the beefcake will go through it all with me." I say. "Besides...this is going to be intresting...a date not set up by my agency!" I say rolling my eyes. I look over at Liz. "And I dont know how long Im in town. Depends I guess" I say shrugging. "What about you Alex?" I ask.

Oh dear...here goes. She puts Michael's plate in front of him and gets her own. She sits down.

I look at her. Take time off? Take time off my work? I don't think so. I can't! It would take away the one thing that stops me thinking about...about her. I need my work. Taking time off...that would mean more bimbos hitting on me....and more time to think about Nadia. I swallow preparing myself for what I have to say.

"Isabel...I think its a great idea for you to have a vacation. You more than deserve it. And Michael does too I guess. But I can't Isabel...not now. Everythings too hectic at work. I can't just go." I say akwardly. I bet if Isabel had the power to kill me she probably use it about now. "Perhaps you two should go without me... its no problem. I totally understand why you need to do this but I...I cant afford the time off right now"

Of course if she rang up the company they would say "Yes yes take him" . They give me 40 weekday holidays a year. Last year I took 6. And I felt rather rebellious in doing so. If she rang up the company and talked to my assistant Jennie...I might end up going for longer than a month!

I drop my fork and almost choke over Isabel's declaration. Did she just say she thought we should take a month off of work? I can't help the grin that spreads across my face. Now that's what I'm talking about! A real vacation. Then my smile turns into a frown when Max speaks up. I knew he would try to ruin this. We all need a vacation...Max especially. I mean he's wound tighter than any screw or watch.

"I think Isabel's right. I, for one, was just thinking that I needed to call my agent and take some time off. Max, my man, you need to relax more than either of us. So where should we go? The Bahamas? The Keys? Mexico? Anywhere with lots of sand and scantily clad women. I need some inspiration for my next work."

I look down at my plate and back up at Isabel. "This is really good by the way. What did you say this stuff was called?" She's a lot like her mom in that she always is trying new recipes. Unlike Mrs. Evans, however, Isabel's recipes are actually really good.

"Isabel...I think its a great idea for you to have a vacation. You more than deserve it. And Michael does too I guess. But I can't Isabel...not now. Everythings too hectic at work. I can't just go." I narrow my gaze as I look at my brother. He might not realize it, but he is not going to get out of taking a vacation like that. "Perhaps you two should go without me... its no problem. I totally understand why you need to do this but I...I cant afford the time off right now."

Michael surprises me though, his words actually defending my thoughts, "I think Isabel's right. I, for one, was just thinking that I needed to call my agent and take some time off. Max, my man, you need to relax more than either of us. So where should we go? The Bahamas? The Keys? Mexico? Anywhere with lots of sand and scantily clad women. I need some inspiration for my next work."

I watch him look at the food and then back at me, "This is really good by the way. What did you say this stuff was called?"

"The Chef I got the recipe from calls it Devils Delight." I reply to Michael question before turning to look at Max. "You are going to take a vacation, if I have to tell your board of trustess to shove it. We need this Max, as a family... a unit. Or have you forgotten that we have enemies somewhere out there? Would you rather us go and then something happen that you aren't there to help us with?"

I know how to work both of the men in my life, and I know I'm damned good at it too.
