~Daimeon~

“Sarah. My name is Sarah. Mind if I ask you yours?" she asks me

“Well Sarah its nice to meet you. I’m Prince Daimeon.” I tell her and I’m about to use a tiny bit of my power on her. Just enough to so she’ll dream about me for weeks to come but we are interrupted by the guy Xada was talking to earlier. "Excuse me, Daimeon." He says and I notice Xada heading out to the Gardens. Good I need to talk with her without everybody looking.

I assume he’s cutting in on the dance. Wait how did he know my name? And why didn’t he but my title in front of it. I’ll question that later. I’ve other things to deal with. I simply act like the perfect charming gentleman and offer to step back. Offering the dance to him.

Daimeon borrowed with permission -- some dialogue from Athenea...

*Max*

As Daimeon steps back, I take Sarah's hand. I keep my voice level and calm, but I'm sure it takes no special powers to see my displeasure. "I believe my daughter is a bit young for you," I say to Larak's son. Turning to Sarah, I gently suggest, "Why don't we join Xadalyn in the garden?"

Daimeon looks as calm as I sounded, but his voice has an edge that sounds somewhat affronted as he gently scolds me. "I'm not sure it's appropriate for you to refer to the rising queen so informally."

I resist the urge to laugh at him. We are in far too public a place. None-the-less, I cannot tell him that she's my daughter. Someone may overhear us. "Why don't you speak to your father about what is appropriate for me to call her? While you're at it, ask him if he feels it's appropriate for you to touch her the way you just did."

Now a slow smile sneaks across Daimeon's face and he looks positively cocky. It's an expression I'd seen on Michael a time or two, usually just before he did something stupid. "The way I touch her is between her and me."

"So it would seem," I nod. "But I believe you may be mistaken as to what is pleasing to her. And there are rules of proper conduct, even for you." He may be a prince but that should mean that he would hold himself to a higher standard of conduct, rather than giving him leave to behave in any way he pleases...

Kyria

"For now, let's just have fun and enjoy the party." Alexandar said as we began to dance. I placed one hand in his and the other on his shoulders as his other hand made itself to my back. His hand felt good there...

He wasn't a very bad dancer at all and I was truly enjoying myself. I relaxed for the first time in a long time. I let the rest of the staff worry about everything as I enjoyed dancing with this boy from Earth with the amazing eyes.

"Your not such a bad dancer..." I said looking and smiling at him.

~Liz~

I stand there, watching Max and Xada in silence for a moment, but then I feel a tap on my shoulder and as I turn around, I find myself facing Larek.

He smiles at me. “It would seem we have both lost our dancing partners…would you care to dance Mrs Evans…?”

He holds out his hand politely, ever the gentleman, and I can’t help smiling. His words show that he does accept that Max and I are together, even if he did know Zan and Ava before, and I give a small nod. “I’d love to…”

Slipping his hand through mine, I feel his other arm slip around my back, holding me firmly, and yet making no suggestion of anything improper. Despite the fact that we haven’t really spoken, other than introductions, and of course that day at the UFO centre, there’s almost an air friendship as we interact, and the conversation between us flows reasonably easily.

There’s nothing too serious of course. No mention of Max really, or anything like that… He compliments me on my dress, and mentions again about the children, before asking a little more about things back on earth, focusing on Isabel and Michael in particular.

I am just in the middle of explaining something about all that, telling him something of Michael’s work, and telling him of Jesse, when I suddenly hear Max’s voice in my head, and almost at the same time I notice that Larek seems to have become a little distracted.

Although we do not stop dancing for the moment, and neither of us says anything, it seems as though there is a silent agreement between the two of us as we move closer to the outer edge of those dancing now.

I look around, searching out Max, and my eyes lite on him, appearing to be talking to the young man that Sarah was dancing with…

Looking up at Larek, I realise that his focus is fixed on the boy, and I get the feeling I might be missing something important here… “Larek…?”

He looks down at me as the music ends and we finish dancing. “My son…” His words are simple, but they seem to hold something more of a meaning, and as he moves towards them, I decide to do exactly the same myself.

At this short distance, the connection between Max and I is strong, and I can feel his growing irritation…displeasure…or maybe it’s even anger…?

*Max, are you okay…?* I send through our connection as I close the distance between us.

I arrive at his side only moments after Larek, and in plenty of time to hear him as he addresses his son.

“My dear Daimeon. I trust you are enjoying yourself and aporting yourself in a manner to bring pride to the house of Tal'Lens."

His tone is even, but I can tell that he’s chosen his words carefully, and listening in the role of a parent myself, I don’t miss the underlying warning that’s being sent.

Larak and Liz arrive just as I'm about to lead Sarah away from Daimeon. Larak looks calm but I remember his earlier comments about difficulty with teenaged children. Now that I've met his son, I believe I understand some of what that was about.

*Max, are you okay?* I hear Liz ask, silently.

I give her a mental 'nod' through our connection even as I decide not to go into detail yet regarding the encounter with Larak's son. *I was about to look for you and then take Sarah to join Xadalyn in the garden. I hope you'll come with us.* Looking around, I see Alex with Kyria and I'm sure he's fine on his own with her. But we are missing another. *Have you seen Justin?*

~*~Sarah~*~

"Why don't we join Xadalyn in the garden?" my father ask me, And I don’t want to go. The truth is I'm afraid be rudening the father-daughter moment. And last time I need to be stuff in a corner feeling unwanted. "I don’t want to go....I want stay here and dance with my peers. Dad he didn’t do anything wrong, we were just dancing. So please stop embarrassing me and go back dancing."

I always wonder why parents always have be.......so parents. I can take care of myself. Why the hell did he make take all those kick boxing and fighting sports if I cant take care of myself.

I sigh hearing my father embarrasses me even more. When will I wake up from this dream that seem be a nightmare. As My father turn to talk to Larek, and my mother is listening to them. I look at Daimeon."I'm sorry for the way my father is acting. He’s kind of, over protective."

~Daimeon~

My Father starts to approach and gives me his little speech and I know that's my cue to go.

"As always father." I reply before giving Sarah a wink and sneaking off before they notice I'm missing. I walk past Kyria on my way out the door. I don't even glance at her dancing partner before looking her up and down before saying."You look unusually nice tonight Kyria"

"Why thank you Prince Daimeon. I wish I could say the same about you." she says smiling sweetly and I laugh as I make my way to the gardens.

Xada is standing looking up at the stars with her back to me. Her figure glowing in the moon's light. She reminds me of some goddess of legend. I walk steathly trying to keep her from hearing me till the last minute but of course she turns around and looks at me then turns her face back to the stars.

"That was a stupid little act you pulled in there." she says simply, no emotion in her voice, as usual.

"I know." I say "But I couldn't help it."

"Nobody can know that there was anything between us." she says and my heart breaks at the past tense. "Your betrothed to another woman, Daimeaon. If anybody found out about this Asha's father would declare war on both your planet and mine. You have to accept the fact that what happened can never happen again."

I roll my eyes at her and grab her arms and spin her around so that she has to look at me. "Run away with me. I'll give up my crown for you, you give up yours for me. We have the whole universe. Why stay in a place where we can't be together. I know you love me, I know because your shutting me out and you always shut out the people you love."

She looks at me slightly fazed for a moment like I had told her exactly what she wanted to hear but then she pulled away from me.

"Don't you get it! We're not meant to be. My destiny is here and yours in on Taltos with Asha." she says but instead of awnsering I bring my lips to hers. "Let me come to you tonight. " I ask and then I hear voices coming and I give her one more passionate kiss before heading in the opposite direction of the voices. I know she'll leave her door open for me tonight. She always does. No matter how much she denys it, she does love me.

Kyria

As we are enjoying dancing Daimeon approaches us. "You look unusually nice tonight Kyria" he says after looking me up and down.

"Why thank you Prince Daimeon. I wish I could say the same about you." she says with a smile and a laugh. Damieon merely returns the smile and walks on, no doubt eventually making his way to Xada.

I return my vision to those blue eyes of Alexandar, those blue eyes that keep grabbing my attention. "That's Daimeon, son of Larek." I tell him. Daimeon was not well liked by all. He was born with looks and was known for being quite a ladies man, Xada knew all this... but she still also liked to have her fun as well.

Alexander

"Your not such a bad dancer..." Kyria said as we danced.

"You're not too bad yourself," I replied with a grin. I distinctly felt the smoothness of her skin beneath my palm, the delicate hand that I held in mine . . .

Cut it out, you horndog! I scolded myself inwardly.

The both of us were quiet for a while, definitely having a good time - or at least, I was - when the guy who'd been dancing with Sarah walked up to us and said to Kyria, "You look unusually nice tonight Kyria."

"Why thank you Prince Daimeon. I wish I could say the same about you," Kyria shot back with a smile. The young prince walked off, laughing. He appeared to be the arrogant type, but I couldn't be that sure.

"That's Daimeon, son of Larek," Kyria explained once she'd turned back to face me.

"Not your prince charming, from the looks of it," I said with a smirk, referring to the remark she'd given him only moments earlier.

"Dad he didn’t do anything wrong, we were just dancing. So please stop embarrassing me and go back to dancing," Sarah pleads.

*You didn't see what I saw, Sarah,* I tell her gently, without explaining anything. *Daimeon is 20 years old,* I say, taking a guess as to his exact age based on my earlier conversation with Larak. "You should dance with someone closer to your own age"

Daimeon responds to his father levelly, but I don't believe his father is convinced, either. Sarah apologises for me, not understanding what really happened. Daimeon does, and I think he got the message, although I have my doubts as to how effective it will be.

Liz doesn't respond to my question but I see Justin at the buffet table. He's nibbling on a few entrees, his eyes opening wide in surprise as he waves at his mouth, trying to cool his tastebuds and I have to smile at his expense. The food here is extremely spicy compared to Earth food.

Shaking my head, I look at Larak, giving him a look that's part sympathy and part fatherly disapproval. "I think I now understand a bit of what you meant when you talked about him."
