Title: Consequences of a Child

Author: Tarajeff73

Category: C/C Max/Liz Michael/Maria Kyle, Isabel/Alex

Disclaimer: To put quite frankly, I own nothing!! I truly wished I did, because I would never allowed the show to be cancelled. *Sobs* okay I’m done. (LOL)

Rating: TEEN due to some language

Author’s Note:
The year is 2014. Post “Destiny’s still calling” Antar is no longer ruled by Max. Instead, Antar has embraced Democracy. Unfortunately the “ EOTW” still occurs thus Max and Liz realize that its not their relationship that causes it, but rather a pact made between Tess, Lonnie and Rath back when we believed Tess had mysteriously, killed Lonnie and Rath. Max and Liz had three children, Maria-Alora (10 years old) Gabriel (8 years old) Jonathan (5 years old) Alex and Isabel married and have a set of blonde haired twin girls (8 years old) Cassandra and Alexandra. Kyle and Ava are currently on Antar expecting their first.

May 11. 1014

Maria-Alora stood in front of a full length mirror frowning. Her mostly antarian body was already starting to blossom into an adult’s, but that was not the cause of her foul mood. Nor was the fact that, she was moving to earth, for the very first time, in her life.
No, the very source of her distress was incased in a glass display in the dark corner of her room. It was her first husk, and age appropriate for a ten year-old earthling. Maria-Alora held back the tears that threatened to spill down her cheeks. The husk would completely hide her newly acquired curves. It was bad enough to be a late bloomer on Antar, but to be a slow poke developing human, was adding insult to injury. She gave one last glance at herself. She really couldn’t complain too much, at least she still got to have the same luxurious black hair and dark eyes her mother’s DNA bestowed upon even her antarian form. She took a deep breath, took the husk from its encasement and stepped into the husk. Immediately the husk fitted to her form, flattening out any inappropriate curves.
When she stepped back in front of the mirror, she let out a small sob.

Liz standing outside her daughter’s bedroom door, her ear pressed to the door. “How are things coming along?” Max voice whispered suddenly from Liz’s side. Liz was startled, but recovered quickly. Liz sighed sadly. “As well as can be expected. I think I heard her crying.” “Really?” Max asked feeling a slight pang of guilt. She nodded. Max’s shoulders slumped. After twelve years of marriage, Liz recognized the look appearing on her husbands face. He was about to cave in. “No Max, she can’t! What ten year old earthlings do you know look like they are practically seventeen? There is no way! Besides, it took forever to grow that husk.” Liz had that stubborn look on her face, and when she had that look, there was no changing her mind. That’s when Max felt the butterflies. After all these years he still got them. There was just something about Liz when she got mad she looked so…alluring and almost dangerous. Max bit his bottom lip, he had let his thoughts stray to far, and his body began to respond. Max smirked down at Liz. When Liz noticed the smoky look in Max’s eyes, her protesting died in her throat. “What?” She asked curiously, but it was no use playing stupid because, she was already grinning. Max was still biting his bottom lip, when he closed the little space between them. “UGH! Gawd! Are trying to permanently blind me!” Maria-Alora shrieked, covering her eyes with one hand and waving the other in front of her. Max and Liz rolled their eyes and laughed quietly.
When Maria-Alora was in their full view, Max was the first to comment on her husk.
“ The husk doesn’t look bad at all.” She crossed her arm angrily. “ I look like a child!” Max raised an eyebrow. “On earth, a ten year old is a child.” Maria-Alora let out an annoyed hiss “I’m only half human. Why do I have to look like one? I thought you said earth has finally excepted the idea of extra terrestrials.” Max was laughing inwardly, if he hadn’t known better he would have sworn Maria-Alora was Michael’s offspring instead his and Liz’s. She was equally determined and stubborn as his former second-in-command. “Yes, earth has excepted the idea, but that doesn’t mean its safe to expose ourselves just yet.” She was about to throw another protest when a young boy comes storming down the hall, his face dark and dangerous with anger. Any Antarian or hybrid could feel the energy of his anger building up around him.
Gabriel was a spitting image of his father, even down to the facial expressions. When he was angry he always gave the same dark and dangerous look his father gave. “ Mom, Dad! Jonathan broke my classic train model again!” the young boy complained. Gabriel’s younger brother Jonathan comes running down the hall. “It was an accident!” the younger boy replied breathlessly as he caught up with his family.
Noticing that the attention was no longer on her Maria-Alora throws her hands up in defeat “Why do I even bother?” Max and Liz looked at each other and rolled their eyes. Once again, any romance they were intending to have was going to have to be put on hold. “You take care of Miss Alora, I’ll take care of the boys” Max suggested. Liz threw him a curious look. “Miss Alora?” Max smirked “Yeah, she wants to be called Alora from now on. Says it sounds cool” Liz’s face went pale “Gawd! Max it’s happening!” Liz said mimicking her daughter way of speaking. Max frowned “What?” Liz leaned in close “Our daughter is turning into a teenager!” They both laughed again. “Lets get this show on the road.” Max replied kissing Liz on the fore head.
Moments later the entire Evans family was waiting at the glowing portal. “Everyone accounted for?” Liz smiled and nodded. “Okay then,” Max replied let’s go.” Liz looked at Alora and gave her hand a squeeze. The two of them stepped into the portal together. Soon after, Max and the boys followed. Moments later, they were in the granolith cell in the pod chamber. The boys looked around with no emotion, but Alora looked around amazed. It was her very first time seeing the infamous granolith. And only a few feet away, was the pods her father, uncle Michael and Aunt Isabel was born from. All resentment of being a ten year old was forgotten.
“Wait here,” he ordered to Liz. “ I’ll check to see if it’s safe.” It was the same routine.
Max always checked to make sure there was no activity going on around the pod chamber. If they came out of the pod chamber at the wrong time, it would bring unwanted attention to the area.
Max was thinking of his daughter’s personality as he walked past the pod holder and their remains. He looked up as he approached the chamber door, and when he did he felt his blood run cold. There, leaning against the wall stood a mortally wounded Kal Langley.

Chapter 2

Kal had no clue how long he had been standing there; all he did know, was that he had to get the message to Max. He owed him that much. It was his fault that the other set, turned out the way they did. They were heartless and vindictive. He was in a lot of pain, and he could feel his life force slipping away, but there he stood, never moving; willing himself to stay alive til Max returned.
Max was stunned to see the shape shifter in the pod chamber. Max hesitated before he took a step towards Kal. “What are you doing here?” It was then, that Kal began to slump to the ground. The relief of seeing Max had weakened some of his resolve. Max rushed to Kal’s side before the shape shifter could fall to the ground. When Max finally noticed Kal’s bruised state, a wave of fear washed over him.
“ Who did this to you?” Kal tried to speak but only managed to croak.
“ Max? Is everything okay?” Liz asked suddenly behind him. “Take the kids back to the granolith chamber.” He ordered not looking back. “What? Why?” she asked not seeing Kal at first. When she finally laid eye on Kal, she gave a quiet gasp and quickly ushered the children to the back. Alora started to protest. “But mom, I wanna go outside.” “We will honey,” Liz replied not really paying attention to her reply. “Stay here, I’ll be right back” Alora just stared at her mother wide eyed, and watched her go.
“So you married that human girl?” Kal managed to say after a wave of pain had past. Max stared at Kal and nodded “Good choice. Better that that hybrid bitch Tess you knocked up.” Max ignored Kal’s observation. “Kal what happen to you?” the shape shifter tried to speak but only managed to get a groan out. Max put a hand on Kal’s chest to heal him, but he could not, Whoever did this to him, was powerful, and meant to make an example of him.
Sensing his death was near; Kal grabbed Max by the front of his sleeveless leather jacket. “Do not go back to Roswell.” He hissed in Max’s ear. Max looked at Kal puzzled “Why?” he asked. Kal’s body started to convulse. “Why Kal?” Max asked loudly trying to get the shape shifter to speak, before he passed away. “Dead,” Kal replied in a soft weak voice “Everyone is dead.” A moment later Kal Langley, former big time movie producer, turned into a pile of dust, right before Max’s eyes. “Oh my god.” Max heard Liz exclaim from behind him. When he turned to her, her face was ash white. “What does he mean everyone is dead?”
The pod chamber door opened and Serena stepped in. “He means everyone; As in Isabel, Michael, your parents. Everyone is dead. The city of Roswell has been completely destroyed.” Max and Liz stared at each other horror. Max’s eyes grew dark with anger, he asked only one question. “Who?”
Normally, Serena was not intimidated by the former king, but the angry look in his eyes said only thing; death. Max was a force to be reckon with, when he was pissed off. “ Lonnie and Rath.” Max’s eyebrows shot up in surprise. “ I thought Tess killed them.” Serena’s face twisted in a sneer at the mere mention of the treacherous hybrid. “Apparently her betrayal was very thorough.”
“ The end of the world.” Liz uttered. Max face flashed recognition. He remembered a time, when Liz broke his heart, and drove him into the arms of the enemy to prevent it. Max looked at Serena curiously, but it was Liz who asked the question. “Serena? Have you been studying quantum mechanics lately?”
Serena was stunned. How did Liz know that? She eyed Max and Liz curiously. They knew something.
Seeing the confusion in her friend’s eyes, Liz filled her in on the whole “Future Max” story. When Liz had finished Serena frowned. “Why didn’t it work?” Liz looked at Max. Why hadn’t she seen it coming? Max was dressed, exactly how she remembered him dressed, when he visited her from the future. Serena reading up on quantum mechanics, Tess not around, it all added up to one thing, Max was going to time travel again.

Thank you all for your feedback!! I am so glad you are enjoying the story so far. I am losing my internet connection as of tomorrow so I will have to my story from the library. So ill only be posting once a week. and that will be on fridays. If i get internet at home again i'll fill ya in and post more often. Anyways withot further ado, heres the Next Chapter!!!

Chapter 3

Max, Serena, Liz and the children were sitting in the granolith chamber, discussing time travel. “There cannot be two of you, taking up the same space. If you touch your past self, you will disappear, and cease to exist.” Max stared at Serena, uncertain he wanted take this job on.
Liz sat next to Max not really listening. Witnessing this moment made her heart ache. What would have to be changed this time? Would she never see her children again? Would they have to make sure her and Max never get back to ever again? Even dead, that bitch Tess, managed to ruin things between her and Max. Tears brimmed in her eyes.
Max was puzzled “ I don’t understand, without all four, how were Lonnie and Rath strong enough to take down the others?” Serena hesitated “Serena what are you not telling us?” Max asked eyeing her suspiciously. Serena let out a sigh and her slender shoulders slumped. “Max, they have your son Zan.”
Max’s eyebrows shot up in surprise at the mention of his son’s name. “How did they get my son?” Serena shrugged, “ They must have known about him, and the lawyer from New York that was finding a home for him. The impression I got was, Zan had been with them for a while.” Max was still confused. “But.. but Zan is completely human.” Max said frowning. Serena shook her head. “ Maybe as an infant, but as he got older he changed.” The moment Max’s son got brought up; the conversation had Liz’s full attention.
While Jonathan and Gabriel played quietly towards the back of the chamber, Alora listened intently to the conversation her parents were having. The more she heard the less she liked. Alora had read up on time travel; the very theory fascinated her, but time travel has of a lot of risks. From the sound of things, if this wasn’t done accurately many people so cease to exist, including her.
“So, we should try to prevent Zan from ever being conceived?” Liz asked hopefully. Serena nodded at Liz “And prevent Tess from ever making that deal with Lonnie and Rath.” Liz struggled to remember that far back. That particular time of her life was very painful for her. Aside from saving Max, when he was in New York, the most she could, remember was her broken heart. “What exactly did that future Max tell you?” Serena asked running a slender hand through her now red dyed hair.
Liz let out a silent sigh. “He said, that our enemies had come to earth; that everyone was killed, and that because Tess wasn’t around, we couldn’t defeat our enemies. The rest was um, personal ” Serena smirked “Ah yes, that’s when you supposedly lost your um virginity.” Liz blushed and nodded “Well, its seems Tess is connected, one way or another.” Serena stood up and soon after Max and Liz did the same. “So what’s the plan?” Liz asked, already sensing minute changes in the current timeline. “We send Max.” Liz looked at Max as he looked at her. His eyes pleaded that she be okay with the plan. Liz gave a small smile and nodded. “It’s important that you arrive, after the other “Future Max” leaves. You need to get Liz to find a way to expose Tess and her plan to get pregnant. Equally important make sure the other set never gets to see Roswell.” Max nods “Wait!” Liz exclaims remembering something Future Max had told her all those years ago. “What happens to Max, my Max when he succeeds?” Serena gives a Max a curious look. “He will have to come back.” Liz was puzzled, “So why would that other future Max, disappear and not him?’ Liz asked pointing at Max.
The answer came to Max sooner than his wife and her best friend. “Because, I am not going to change us, just Tess.” Liz smiled warmly and slipped into Max’s arms. Suddenly, the granolith chamber shakes violently and Serena, Liz and Max stumble to the floor.
“Damn!” Serena cursed, getting back up on her feet. “ Looks like Lonnie Rath and Zan have discovered where the pod chamber is.” “Serena! Open the portal and take the children back to Antar!” Max ordered, fearing for his children’s lives. Serena nodded raising a hand to the ceiling activating the portal. She ushers the children in, and then turns to Max and Liz, “Here,” she hands Max two Long jewelry boxes. “Insert one into the granolith, to activate its power. Use the other, to return home.” Max takes the boxes gratefully. Serena steps into the portal and turns “See you soon.” There is a flash and Serena is gone. The granolith chamber shakes again, sending Liz and Max stumbling to the floor once more. Grabbing her by the sleeves of her leather jacket, Max helps Liz to her feet.
Max, pushes aside a strand of short hair away from Liz’s eyes and then gently kisses her very gently.

Flash

Future Max: I can’t tell you too much Liz, only what you need to know. 14 years from now, we are taken over, by our enemies.

Future Max: Liz, what’s about to happen, over the next few days, is critical to the history of the planet. Things between us are about to change…grow deeper. We become inseparable, and nothing comes between us ever again, until…..

Liz: The end of the world?

Flash

Future Max and Liz hiding in Whitaker’s office.

Flash

Future Max: I saw you with Kyle. He’s turning out to be a, a great guy. Maybe it would be better for you, to be with a human.

Liz: Don’t you realize what you are to me? What you are always gonna be? You’re the love of my life. Everyone else, is gonna be second best. There’ll never be another you.

Liz: Could you dance with me?

Future Max: What?

Liz: I wanna have my wedding dance.

The granolith chamber shakes again, this time sending debris crashing to the floor. “Liz you have to get out of here!” Liz shook her head. “Not til I see you go!” fear was flashing in her now round eyes.
Immediately Max took one of the crystal from its box and inserted it into the granoliths base.
Max’s eyes pleaded with Liz “Go now.” Liz nodded and raised a hand to the ceiling and activated the portal. The granolith flashed and took Max within it. From inside Max looked down at his wife, the memories of their recent connection floating in his head. I was so hard for Liz to turn him away, and break his heart, but Max was sure her heart broke more than his did. Knowing, that he was about to change all that brought some relief to his conscious. Max squinted when the portal flashed as Liz stepped in and disappeared. Moments later the granolith sent Max hurling back in time.

Hey guys i was up late cuz i wanted to squeese in one more chapter b4 i lost the internet sooooo here it is!!

Chapter 4

Liz held her hair back, as she blew out the candle on the little coffee table. Her eyes were red from crying. When future Max had disappeared, so did her hopes for the future. Fresh tears streamed down her flawless complexion as she grabbed a tissue. Liz looked around the rooftop sadly. It was here she and Max shared their first kiss. It was here they thought they were going to “go all the way” to discover what her flashes meant. Liz wiped a few more tears. Suddenly there was a blinding white light and Liz’s petite form went sailing backwards, and slamming between her two bedroom windows.
Liz groaned as she rubbed the back of her head. When she saw the person standing in front of her, she was confused. “ Max? Why have you returned?”
Max walked over and helped Liz up, realizing his entry into the timeline, knocked her over. When he helped her up, Max saw her eyes grow round with fear. “Max why have you returned?” It took a moment for him to realize, that she thought she was talking to the “other” future Max. “Um, Liz this is the first time I have been here.” Liz frowned “ No, you were just here Max. I was dancing with you.”
Max could see that this young Liz had been crying. He brushed a tear away from her cheek. As he did, Max got flashes of the painful sacrifice she had made. “No, Liz, that was a different version of me.” Liz pulled away from Max; anger flashing in her dark brown eyes. “What? So what are you saying? There’s more I have to do?” Max gave her a sympathetic look. Liz began to shake her head. “No! I can’t! I can’t do anymore! I won’t!” she hugged herself as tears brimmed in her eyes.
Max’s heart ached seeing Liz in so much pain. “Liz I….” “No!” Liz shot back angrily “ I won’t do it!”
Max reached for Liz “ Liz, I need you to undo what you have just done.” “No!” she yelled back but then silenced, when she realized what he had just said. “Wait…did you just say undo what I just did?”
Max nodded. Liz looked at him strangely. “ But I thought if we were together, it would bring the end of the world.” Max stood close to Liz breathing in her scent. It had been so long ago that Liz looked and smelled this way. Liz very presence used to be such an assault on his senses. In every sense, she still was. “We were wrong. Tess was the culprit the whole time.” Liz’s eyebrows shot up in surprise. “Tess? How?” “Do you remember the other set of pods?” Liz nodded “ Michael just told us about them, the other day.” “Well,” Max explained “ They’re duplicates of us. But…..” Max hesitates “But?” Liz asks forcing Max to look at her “Isabel and Michael’s duplicate kill mine. Then they come seeking me out for a summit in New York. When they do…Tess will make a pact with them, which ends up being part of the reason for the end of the world.” Liz looked at him expectantly. “What’s the other reason?” Max looked down in shame, he was telling her this, for the second time in his life, and the shame of it still stung as strong, as it did the first time, when they were in his jeep, so many years ago. “There was a child.” He replied still not looking up at her. “A child? Who’s?” Max hesitated “Mine and Tess’s.” Liz felt her blood run cold. She honestly thought, she was going to be sick. Liz got up and walked away in exasperation. “Liz, wait there’s more!” Max called to her “I don’t care if there’s more!” she yelled not looking back. “Tess is gonna kill Alex!” Liz suddenly spun around “What?” Max hadn’t come back to stop Alex’s death, but he had to get Liz’s attention time was short.
“In my time, she kills Alex.” Liz clenched her jaw in attempt to control her anger. “ Tess uses Alex in a mine warp to translate the book, but in the end the mind warp kills him.” Liz’s jaw just hangs down, as she is speechless. “The whole time Tess has been in Roswell, her plan was to get pregnant, and deliver Me, Isabel and Michael to our enemies.”
Liz did not know what to say, she never trusted the hybrid, and now for good reason. “So, I’m suppose to do what exactly?” she asked. “You need to tell Max of Tess’s plan without Tess catching wind of what’s going on. From there, you need to prevent the dupes from making that deal with her. Most importantly, Tess is to never have Max’s child.” Understanding what must be done, Liz nods. “Got it, I know exactly what to do.” Future Max watches Liz stepped through hr window to get into her bedroom. She goes to her dresser and grabs some lip gloss. “What are you doing?” Max asks her curiously as he steps through the window. “I am going to see Max.” Max shook his head. “I wouldn’t, Tess sensed his pain when he saw you with Kyle, and she went to him to comfort him. They are in the park right now, wait til he heads home for bed.” Liz eyed future Max curiously “Will you cease to exist if this works too?” Max shook his head and pulled the other crystal from a pocket inside his jacket. “I have to go back. Since we remain together, I remain the man I am, so I must go back the same way I got here. I will stay here until you set things in motion, then I must go.”
One hour later, Liz heads to Max’s house and tapes on Max’s bedroom door. A light turns on and the window opens “Tess, I have to go to sleep.” A weary Max states. Liz hesitates knowing Max will be very angry at her. “Its not Tess Max, it’s me Liz. I need to talk to you.” Max glares at Liz with angry eyes. “Is it about you and Kyle?” he snaps at her. Liz flinches at his tone. “Sort of, but what you saw, is not what you think.” Max considers Liz’s words for a moment. He was curious as to her explanation. Anything that could ease his pain at this point was worth listening to. Max open the windows wider to allow Liz to climb in. Liz blushed when she noticed Max had no shirt on, but decided this time to omit the request to one on.
“I didn’t sleep with Kyle, I only made it look like I did.” Liz said slowly. Max frowned at her “Why would you want to do that?” “Because you asked me to make you fall out of love with me.” Liz stated. Max was even more puzzled she wasn’t making any sense. “You came back 14 years from the future and asked me for help.” Max just stood there expressionless. Liz gave an impatient sigh. “Kiss me” she ordered Max gave her a suspicious look “What?” “Kiss me and you will see what I am trying to tell you.” Max hesitated wondering what Liz was up to. But he knew she was right, if she wasn’t lying he would see it in their connection. Max leaned in and kissed Liz timidly at first, his lips just barely brushing hers. Within moments his body began to respond to her closeness, and he deepened the kiss. As his heartbeat began to accelerate, his hand dropped from the nape of her neck, to the small of her back, then to the curve of her bottom. At that very moment, the connection was made, and Max saw it all; from the entry of his future self, to Liz’s reaction to his request. He heard himself describe the end of the world and felt Liz’s anger over having to get him and Tess together. He also saw the newer future version of himself, telling Liz of Tess’s betrayal. Then Max broke the connection. How could he have ever think that Liz would ever betray him. Max felt like such a jerk. “Liz…I’m..I’m so sorry I had no idea.” Liz shrugged it off and smiled “No harm done.” She said her lips still swollen from their kiss. “But Max, we can’t let Tess know that we are still together. Until we find a way to expose her plan, she can’t ever know we’re together. She only goes through this plan once she thinks we’re over.” Max is disappointed he doesn’t like the idea of having to hide his feelings for Liz and pretended he could develop some for Tess. Then, suddenly Max smirks down at Liz. “So this means we have to be secret lovers huh?” Max asked pulling Liz close again. Liz grinned up at him and nodded. Max began kissing Liz again, and Liz could stop her self from responding when he pulled her up close. Her hands ran over his muscular chest, feeling the smoothness of his skin. Max always kept himself in great shape, which definitely made for some good eye candy. But then …..

Flash

Liz: When you say cemented

Future Max: I mean we made love.

Liz pulled away. “Max, it’s getting late and I really need to get to bed.” She lied. “Yeah okay.” He replied nodding his head; His eyes, still smoky from arousal. He helped her through the windows and they kissed goodnight. “We’ll talk about this in school tomorrow?” Max smiled and nodded.
Minutes later, Liz was climbing the later to her bedroom windows. “Was the damage fixed?” Future Max asked; he was lying on Liz’s lounge chair. Liz grinned like a fool. Future Max gave a small laugh “I’ll take that as a yes. But, don’t you think it was kinda cruel leaving him in that state?”
Liz’s jaw dropped “Were you watching us? You followed me?” Max shook his head “No, its part of my past now.” Liz blushed “Sorry, but consider that pay back for getting Tess knock up. Besides no ever dies from a case off blueballs.” Liz couldn’t believe she even said the word, but knew of no other word for the enfliction Future Max raised an eyebrow “Liz Parker using crude male terms?”
Liz rolled her eyes and climbed into her bedroom..

Chapter 5

Liz slowly woke up, as the sunshine gradually filled her bedroom. All the memories from last night, came to Liz in one big rush. Tess, at that moment Liz would nothing more than to ring that little blonde’s neck. Liz knew she couldn’t though. “ Story of my life.” She mumbled to herself, as she takes off her top. “What is?” Future Max asked. Liz suddenly went still, She had forgotten that he had slept in the lounge chair. Liz felt color creep up in her face; there she was, arms tangled in her shirt, bra showing for all to see. Liz peers over the edge of her shirt. Quickly she puts the shirt back on. She arches an eyebrow when she notices an amused look on Future Max’s face. “Tess.” She says finally “ I’d like to put her in her place, but I can’t.” Not wanting the discussion to go any further, Liz grabs a towel and heads for the shower.
It always amused Max, how the mere mention of Tess’s name, always made Liz’s feathers get ruffled. Of course, she had good reason, Tess had wanted in his pants badly, but not because she truly lusted after Max, but to fulfill a deal, Nasedo had made with Kivar.
After getting dressed, and brushing her hair, Liz stood in front of the mirror applying clear lipgloss. Liz shot Future Max an irritated look, when notices he is checking her out from behind. “So.” She said trying to him to look else where than her hindquarters. “How close was Tess to you after you thought I slept with Kyle? I mean will Max and I be able to squeeze any free time in? or will she be like a shadow?” Future Max’s face suddenly grew serious. “You and Max shouldn’t risk it right now. You are going to step into the enemy’s lair. The harvest is almost ready, you need to get in destroy the husks and get out without, attracting any attention to yourselves. Especially, Nicholas’s” Liz frowned and turned to Max. “Who’s Nicholas?” Max crossed his arms “He is to Kivar, what Michael is to me, a second in command, his little messenger boy.” “Oh, so he’s a big wig?” Future Max frowned “Something like that.”
Liz picked up phone and dialed Max’s number, as future Max steps into her room through the windows. After the first ring, Max answered. “ Hello Liz Parker.” His voice; warm and sincere. Liz grinned “Did you become a clairvoyant over the summer?” She could almost hear Max’s broad smile. “No, I got caller I.D.” Liz flushed a little. “Oh. Um there’s a side of you that’s still haunting me.” Max was silent for a moment. “He’s still there?” Liz glanced over at future Max “Yeah, um Max you need to continue being broken hearted when we are at school today. You know, play the role? Not even Michael or Isabelle can know.” “I understand.” He replied gently. “Max, you have let Tess help you.” Liz said gritting her teeth. “Okay,” he replied obediently. A little obedient for Liz’s likeing, but she did not comment on it. “Okay, now that we got that settled, I will see you later in school.” “Yeah, I’ll see you in school.” Max replies “K.” replies back and hangs up the phone. “Ready to go?” future Max asks. Liz gives him a puzzled look. “Go?” “Yeah,” he replies climbing out of her bedroom window. “You know, to school.” When he noticed a little color drain from Liz’s face, he stopped in his tracks.
“Don’t worry, I’ll stay hidden.” He assured her.
Liz and future Max took back roads and streets, so they would stay hidden. As Liz was quietly walking and looking down Max pull out a group photo, of him, Liz and the others. As, he glance at the photo, he noticed a change take place. Alex’s pose suddenly changed, and where there were only twins, there stood another child. He was a boy one year younger than Alora. “Nathaniel” Max said softly with a smile. “Who’s Nathaniel?” Liz asked breaking Max from his memories. Max looked at Liz startled, and quickly shoved the photograph into his back pocket. “Um….Uh, no one.” And then looked at her sheepishly. “Someone from the future?” Liz asked. He nodded. “But he wasn’t there before, which means the future has begun changing.” Max explained. More memories flooded his brain. Isabel didn’t want to name him Nathaniel, but Alex begged and pleaded. The boy had a crush on Alora and had been shunned by her several times. Like Alora, Nathaniel grew at a faster rate, and had to wear a husk on earth. The tall boy had blonde hair and green eyes and a lanky build like his father.
“He?” Liz asked curiously but put up a hand and waved it “Never mind, I forgot you can’t tell me…right.” “It’s okay,” He assured her “I would have been curious too. But, you can only know, what is important for you to know.” Liz nodded “I understand.” “We’re here.” Max stated. Sure enough, there was Roswell High a few blocks ahead of them. “Well, this is where we part.” She replied almost relieved. He nodded. “I will be some where near watching. The idea of this version of Max following her around, really bothered her, but she understood, and was relieved to know, that he would not be around for much longer; She hoped.
The minute she walked through the high school doors, she was joined by Maria. “ Why Miss Parker, I do believe you are glowing.” Maria said playfully. Liz cursed inwardly. “What? Me? Uh, I have no clue what you’re talking about.” Maria arched an eyebrow at her. “Don’t be coy with me, I know that look! That’s the look you always get, when you had a make out session with Max the night before.” Liz rolled her eyes. “Maria how many times do I have to tell you?” she complained at they finally reached their lockers. “Yeah, I know, it’s over between you and Max.” Maria replied slightly mimicking Liz voice. “But, I don’t buy that for a second.” Liz slammed her locker door. “Maria can we just drop the subject?” She hated snapping at her friend, but she needed her friend not to suspect anything. “Hey!” Michael said approaching Maria. Liz watch the two of them walk away as they got into a heated discussion, over why Michael was over Courtney’s house last night.

Hey guys!! sorry you had to wait so long for another chapter! I am doing somthing to my website,(Making my own graphics) so i get caught up with that......plus i had to go to Montana/Canadian boarder to take care of an immigration issue... well, anyways heres the next chapter!! don't worry the next chapter will be a good one!
Chapter 6

The gang was gathered in their classroom after the bell had rung, but Max could barely concentrate on what they were talking about. Something about Michael’s friend being a skin. Max was finding it difficult to pretend he was hurt. At least he could absorb in thoughts, on how eerie it was for him to “see” his future self. Playing on that emotion could easily help him look distraught of Liz “sleeping” with Kyle. Michael kicks his chair from underneath him to get his attention.
Tess comes to his defense. She must think she has a chance with him now. She was even wearing clothes to enhance her features, like the blue shirt that brought out her eyes. “Something you wanna share with the class?” Michael asks. Max rubbed his eye and pretended to be annoyed. “No.” What Max really wanted to do is expose Tess’s plan to betray them, to Isabel and Michael. That time will come soon enough, but for now he would concentrate on the next enemy. There was a new threat, as the others were putting together the connection between Whitaker and Courtney. As they discussed their next course of action, Max realize he and Liz would have to put their “acting” skills to the test.
Liz was the only person, who had any true connection to the congresswoman.
Liz was waiting for them in front of Whitaker’s office, when they arrived. Tess was staying close to Max’s side playing the “comforting” friend. When Max let everyone head in to office before him, Tess threw him a concerned look. “I’ll be there in a minute.” Tess nodded and threw Liz a dirty look.
Liz and Max made their postures look, as if they were uncomfortable with each other’s presence. “So, we need to investigate Whitaker’s office.” Max said in a low voice. Liz nodded. “She’s getting awfully chummy with you all the sudden.” Liz said her annoyance obvious in her tone. Liz looked around to make her “act” look more real. As she did, she caught future Max watching them a few buildings down from the crashdown. “Yeah,” Max replied “ I guess this how she was able to betray me.” Liz nodded. “Let’s get inside, remember you’re angry with me.” Liz reminded him. “Right.” Max replied, and opened the door for Liz.
After sifting through the Congresswoman’s mail Max found a letter marked “personal” as he read it out loud to the others, they discovered their next lead. They were taking a trip to Copper Summit Arizona. When everyone left the office, Liz was alone with Max. Looking around, Max made sure the coast was clear. “What now?” he asked still looking around; Tess was really making a shadow of herself. She had never left Max’s side when they were in the Congresswoman’s office. Liz shrugged “I’m not sure. I am gonna wrapped up some of Whitaker’s things, to make it look like we’re there to drop them off. Then I am going to run home, and gather some personal things for the trip.” “Okay” Max replied. “I’ll pick you up in a half hour.” Liz nods. Max hesitates then quickly leans over and brushes his lips over Liz’s. Liz smiles at him, and then takes off for her house.
As, she reaches the top of the latter to her roof; a hand reaches out and helps her to the roof. His face was not smiling, his eyes were not teasing. Liz looked at him frowning. “What is it?” she asked when she was completely on the roof. “Copper Summit, is where the Harvest going to be.” Liz was puzzled “Harvest?” future Max nodded “Yes, this is when Nicholas comes into the picture. He is the link between this time line and the future’s. Isabel is going to meet him, and discover who Vilandra really was.” “Who is Vilandra?” Liz asked “Vilandra was who Isabel was in her past life. Vilandra was believed to have betrayed our family, to her lover. Her lover killed Me, Michael, Tess, and her.” Future Max explained. “Nicholas is going to use Isabel’s desire to know about her more. Isabel can never meet up with him, Copper Summit can never know The Royal four is in their midst!” Liz took a step backwards; future Max’s sudden desperation frightened her. “ When you get to Copper summit, destroy the husks and then get out of there.” Liz arched an eyebrow. “Husks?” “Skins” he offered.
Liz’ raised her eyebrows “Oh.”
An hour later, Max, Isabel, Liz and Tess were riding to Copper Summit. Max was sitting quietly in the back seat of the jeep, as Tess fell asleep on his shoulder. At this point knowing what he knew, about Tess, it really crept him out to have her, in such close proximity of him. Liz was the one to break the silence in the car. “Isabel who is Vilandra?” Max frowned why was Liz bringing up that name? Did she know something? The moment Isabel’s face went pale, Liz knew Isabel knew quite a bit more than she had let on. “I …I don’t know.” Isabel stammered. She looked like an animal trapped into a corner. Isabel threw Max a fleeting look. Was he listening? Not only was Max listening, the conversation had his undivided attention. “Why?” Isabel asked the look of guilt obvious on her face.
How was Liz going to find out, what Isabel knew about Vilandra if Isabel was the only one who knows, anything about her? Then an idea came to Liz. “When I stumbled across those recorded phone conversations, I also discovered Whitaker kept a journal. I read a little, hoping she would bring it by the next day, but I never saw it again.” Isabel eyed Liz curiously. “What did it say?” Liz smiled inwardly as Isabel took the bait. “That Vilandra was the former princess of Antar. That she betrayed her brother, her race, for her lover Kivar. It also said that Whitaker was going to take her to Nicholas, and that Nicholas would deliver her to Kivar, after the “Harvest” of course.” Isabel flashed Max a nervous look. He knew of her betrayal now, would he hate her now? “Harvest?” Max asked. “Um, yeah,” Liz replied. “ The skins are antarians, the shedding is from their “husks” Their husks are a life form that they wear over them, to protect them from earth’s atmosphere. But, the husks are dying. So, they grew more, and it’s almost time to harvest them.” Isabel was confused. “What makes you think I would know who Vilandra is?” Liz bit her bottom lip. “ You seemed to recognize the name.” Isabel looked nervously from Max then Liz. “I….I, Whitaker told me, I was Vilandra,” Isabel replied looking down shamefully at her hands. “And that I would betray Max again, to be with Kivar.” Isabel said mournfully, tears stinging her eyes. “Nicholas is in Copper Summit, the harvest is in Copper Summit.” Max and Isabel both became alarmed “What!” Isabel exclaimed. “Then let’s turn back!” Liz focused on the road. “We can’t, we have to destroy the husks, then we get out of Copper Summit as soon as possible. If we destroy the husks, we destroy Nicholas.” For the rest of the night, they sat in silence as Liz drove.
When morning came, they arrived in Copper Summit. This time Max was driving. As if on cue they pull up to the stagecoach museum where a young gentleman with dark curly hair, is dusting off a mannequin for the display. As Max pulls up the jeep and he and the young man exchange words, Liz realizes that this was a key moment. “You must be here for the harvest.” The young man said starting to smile. Outsiders were no welcome to the harvest, and for good reason. Everyone from the Universal Friendship League was an alien. “Yes! Yes we are!” Liz said suddenly cutting Isabel off, before she could asked a question, and popped her head out from the back of the jeep. “We are here to see, uh how things are…um, growing?” The young man’s smile widened. “Well, why don’t you park your jeep over near the next building, and then head down the cellar here, and take a look fer yourselves.” Liz gave her most dazzling smile. “Thank you!” When Max parked the jeep Liz noticed Tess eyeing her curiously. Tess looked at Max and Isabel “Did I miss something?” Max gave Liz a knowing look.
“Liz was going on a hunch.” Isabel frowned slightly, why was Max and Liz hiding information from Tess. Something was going on, Isabel concluded. When this trip was over, she was going to find out.
“Liz, you and Tess stay here. We know what to do. Keep the jeep running, so we can make a quick runaway.” Tess frowned at Max’s words. Why hadn’t he filled her in on what’s going on? What were they running from? She didn’t like it, not one bit. Tess’s curiosity got the best of her. Liz had gotten Max seriously upset with her, she did the unbelievable; she slept with Kyle. Now she could set her plan in motion. “So, you and Kyle.” She said non-chalauntly. Liz glanced at Tess for a moment. “Oh! Don’t you wish bitch!” Liz’s mind screamed “Um, yeah.” Liz said instead. After putting on a show, and letting her believe Kyle was an amazing lover, Tess and Liz sat in awkward silence.
Suddenly, there was a loud rumble and Max and Isabel came rushing out of the museum. Isabel hops into the passenger seat, as Max hops into driver’s side. “We’re outta here!” Max exclaims as the jeep spits dirt underneath its tires. After driving for an hour, and constant watching from behind, Max and the rest of them finally relaxed. “Max what is going on?” Tess demanded. Isabel gave Max a questioning look, but Max shot her a look for her to go along. “Liz found Whitaker’s journal, and it told about a harvest taking place in Copper Summit; Harvest of the “skins”. So we went in there to destroy the skins our enemies use to live on earth.” Tess eyed Liz curiously. “Why didn’t you say something about this journal before?” Liz shrugged “Until Copper Summit was mentioned again, it didn’t seem important. I only saw the journal once, Whitaker never brought it by again.” Tess was not satisfied. Liz was hiding something. But, right now all that mattered was getting close to Max. Tess felt a chill run down her spine. Something wasn’t right, this whole situation didn’t feel right. She didn’t know why, but Tess felt like things should have been different.

What me give Tess brains?...lol no.....if Tess got a clue, i would have no story..Don't worry guys Liz gains something Tess never saw coming!

Chapter 7

When they arrived home, Max had noticed Tess staring at Liz curiously. Tess had started to suspect, something. He needed to throw Tess off Liz’s scent. He hated to do it but…. Max threw Liz an angry look. “The next time you stumble across seemly irrelevant information Liz, see to it next time, that inform one of us immediately!” Max’s angry words had taken Liz off guard. Although she understood why he was acting this way, his angry tone still hurt. Liz sucked on her bottom lip and nodded slowly.
She stepped out of Max’s jeep silently, and headed towards the crash down without looking back
When she reached her bedroom, she saw future Max waiting for her. “Hey,” she said with a smile. Future Max smiled at her “Hey, back at you.” It was something Maria would always say. After fourteen years of hanging around Liz’s best friend, her habits were beginning to rub off on him. Future Max pulled out his photograph. “You changed a major event in the timeline today, and it’s just about time I be going; But not just yet. You need to take one more trip. You need to go to New York, to prevent a death.” Liz was stunned for a moment “whose death?” Future Max looked at Liz seriously, “My duplicate’s” “Liz!” a voice called from below. Liz’s eyes went wide. “Get out of sight!” she whispered as Max came up the metal latter. Future Max tucked out of sight just as present day Max reached the top of the latter. Liz turned to at Max. She gave him a sincere smile. “Max.” she said honestly happy to see him. They embraced immediately. As Max looked into Liz’s eyes he caressed a lock of Liz’s hair. It would be a habit he never outgrew. Like always, Liz got that misty look in her eyes when she looked up at him. At that moment everything just seemed right; the lighting, the mood, the weather; Her, and him standing there in the moonlight. All of these elements working together seem to have a seductive lure to them. When Liz saw Max’s brown eyes smoke over, she felt her breath catch in her throat. What kind of magic did Max have over her? She could feel some kind of energy building around them. It almost whispered in her ear, telling her to close the distance between them. When Max pulled Liz’s face closer to hers, Liz wonder if was possible that they were already making love right there, with their close still on. She got her answer when Max’s lips came down on hers. A bolt of energy shot between them momentarily, stunning them. Max and Liz just stood there looking at each other in bewilderment. Was this how it was for antarians? Max’s mind was in a haze and at that moment he didn’t care how antarians felt when they made love; all he cared about was touching her again. The one-inch of distance they just provided in their shock, was almost agonizing.
Liz stared at Max in amazement. To her, touching Max was like a high, and at that very moment, her body was screaming for another fix. It was pointless to fight this any longer, to hell with not being ready. Who was she kidding? She couldn’t be any more ready. Liz, felt that her whole life lead up to this very moment. She stood on her tiptoes and kissed Max again. Their hearts began to race, and their minds became one. Liz saw every intimate fantasy Max had of her, and felt his desperate need, which only fuel her need for him, right then. Max saw every private fantasy Liz had of him, including a very amusing scene of her and him making love on the crashdown’s counter, while a very jealous and pissed off Tess, watched with her arms crossed. As Max’s arms encircled the small of Liz’s waist he grabbed the hem of her shirt, and looked down at her with pleading eyes. Liz grabbed him by the hand and ushered him through her bedroom window, into her room, then allowed him to remove her shirt. Moments later she followed suit, and removed his. When Max starting kissing her again, he lowered her to her bed. For one brief moment, as Liz circled her arms around Max’s neck, she saw a spark of green light come from her hand. Dismissing it as static, she pulls Max on top of her. As the energy builds Max and Liz no longer felt they were in control of their bodies or themselves. Images of each other flood their minds. When Liz felt Max tug at her pants, she completely let go, opening a floodgate of hormones and emotions all at once. It was at the exact moment, when Liz opened her eyes, to see Max sailing backwards towards the door. His back hit the door with a loud crash, and he groaned in pain, as he slid downwards. “Max! Oh my gawd! What happened?” Liz exclaimed shock and alarm, flashed in her eyes as, she looked around in search for Max’s assailant. Max stared at Liz wide eyed and frightened. When Liz noticed he was staring at her, she looked down at her hands that were now buzzing and crackling with green energy. Liz looked back up at Max, the panic obvious in her face. “What’s going on? What’s happening to me?”

“You’re changing.” Future Max replies as he watches Liz pace back and forth on the roof. “How is that possible?” Liz shot at him angrily. Whether it was now or a year from now, Liz’s reaction to her transformation had been the same; Fear confusion, exhilaration. “Did this happen to me in your timeline too?” Liz asked still very much afraid. Max nodded “But the situation was different, you didn’t start changing for another year.” Liz frowned at Max and stopped pacing. “What’s different now?” Max scratched his head as he tried to remember. His memories of the past were becoming more and more hazy as Liz changed more of the timeline. He looked up at Liz suddenly. “Tess! She was getting close to Max at this time, not you. You and I were not really even talking to each other. But when Tess took off later on, we became real close during our school year. That’s when your powers began to emerge. The closer we got, the more defined they became.” Liz stared down at her hands in disbelief. She had powers, but what kind, remains to be seen. “Will this happen every time me and you..I mean me and him become close?” Future Max arched his eyebrows “What exactly were you doing?” He already knew the answer, but wanted to see miss “I’m not ready” admit how ready she really had been. Liz’s face turned a deep shade of red. “Uh nothing, just kissing.” Liz lied. Future Max frowned to himself. If “Present Day” Max and Liz made love, Liz’s powers will emerge in full strength, Tess will suspect something. “You and Max cannot not go all the way; If you do, your powers will come in full force and Tess will suspect some thing.” Liz was upset. “Ugh! Some thing, excuse me, some one! Is always getting in the way!” Liz complained. “What you need to do is take a break from Max for now, and go to New York. Find Zan, prevent his death, then come home.” Liz slowly nodded. “Where is Max now?” he asked. “Home, putting ice on his bruises and taking a cold shower.” Future Max chuckled, almost remembering. “Take Maria with you to NewYork.”

Chapter 8

Liz dialed Maria’s number. “Hey chica!” Maria answered, when she picked up the phone. “I need you to come over right away!” Liz said before Maria could say any more.
“New York city are you crazy!” Maria exclaimed after Liz requested to borrow her mother’s Jetta. “Liz that’s like a three day drive from here!” “I know,” Liz replied “ But it’s important. Please Maria.” Maria eyed her friend suspiciously. “Does this have anything about the rumor, that you slept with Kyle Valenti?” Liz recoiled “You heard about that?” Maria snorted, “Liz, everyone has heard about it. What pisses me off more is that smug look of satisfaction that Tess has been wearing. I can’t believe you slept with Kyle and never said anything to me!” Liz bit her bottom lip; she had completely forgotten to fill Maria in, for damage control. “ Maria, I didn’t sleep with Kyle. It’s a long story, but I promise to fill you in on the way to New York.” Maria arched an eyebrow “What’s in New York, what’s this all about?” Future Max stepped out from his hiding place. “Me.” He replied. Maria stared for a moment, and then her jaw dropped. “Wow, Max you look uh…old.” She replied wondering when they would fill her in, on the joke. Max smirked “That’s probably because I am 30.” Maria snorted in response. “Maria, he’s telling the truth. Liz replied. “He’s from the future, fourteen years to be exact.” Maria furrowed her eyebrows “You’re serious aren’t you?” Both Max and Liz nodded. Maria looked at Liz then to Max then back to Liz again, then grinned. “Well, then” she replies grasping her hands together “What happens to me and spaceboy? Do we have kids? And marry?” Max looks down at the floor uncomfortably. “I can’t tell you that.” Maria is suddenly upset. “But you could tell Liz huh?” “Maria technically it wasn’t him, it was another version of this Max. He had to tell me, because him not being with Tess, brought on the end of the world. Liz explained.
“And now?” Maria asked. “We were wrong,” Max, explained, “There was more to Tess’s betrayal than we thought.” Maria frowned “ Tess’s betrayal?” Liz nodded “In his timeline, Max sleeps with Tess and gets her pregnant.” “Wait,” Maria interrupts and turns to Max. “You slept with that tramp!?” Max looks down again embarrassed. Maria throws her hands up “What is it with you hybrid men and tramp blondes?” Max looks at Liz confused. “Courtney?” Liz offers. And then Max nods remembering the blonde skin from the crashdown. “So what’s in New York anyways?” Maria asked, not wanting to talk about Courtney anymore. “The other set of hybrids.” Liz replied. Maria’s eyebrows shot up. “Oh yeah Michael was telling me about that, the other day.” “Maria, you can’t tell anyone the nature of this trip, not even to Michael.” Liz said solemnly. Maria cringed “ My mother is going to have a bird!” Liz gave Maria the sad eyes she knew her best friend, could not resist. Maria sighs, “Alright alright I’ll do it, but you owe me.” Liz puts on serious face and nods, but then breaks into a grin. “ Thank you Maria.” “Well, I guess ill head home and pack for the trip.” Maria sighs again. “See you in a bit.”
“I gotta see Max, I need to tell him wear I am going.” Future Max nodded “I understand, but if he asks, he cannot go with you.” Liz was a bit disappointed, but wasn’t surprised. “Because, I’ll be going with you.” When this version of Max came to Liz’s bedroom window, and after Liz knew he was telling the truth of whom he said he was, it was kind of thrilling, knowing he was from the future. Liz really didn’t like, having him around anymore. She felt weird having special moments with Max, knowing this separate person had vivid memories of them.
Max and Liz met up at the crashdown, after it has closed up. Max was sipping on his usual cherry cola. “So, I guess we’re going to NewYork, to save your other you, from dying.” Max seemed unaffected by Liz’s explanation. “How did he die in the future me’s timeline. Liz shifted in her seat uncomfortably. Isabel and Max were close, but ever since Isabel had found out what she was like, in her former life, a distance had been created between the two siblings. “In a car accident.” Liz replied purposely omitting who caused the crash. Max looked at her curiously “That’s it?” Liz nodded hoping he couldn’t tell she was lying. “So, uh how are things between you and Tess?” Max rolled his eyes. “She keeps insisting, that I try these memory retrieval techniques.” Liz sighed. “I know its hard for you, to try to be close to her, but Max she cannot suspect anything. You have to play the part.” Max ran a hand through his black hair and sighed. “How far am I expected to play this charade? I mean am I going to have to kiss her?” Liz gripped cup a little tighter than she meant to, but she couldn’t help it. The very thought of Tess putting her hands on Max made her blood boil. Suddenly the glass disintergrated into a pile of dust, in front or her. Liz stood up in fear staring at her hands; once again green energy was flowing through her skin. “What is happening to me?” she asked Max with dismay in her voice. Max stood up and went to Liz’s side. He grabbed her hands into his. “Seems like every time your emotions run on high, this happens to you.” Liz was still staring down at her hands. “Do you think this is what happens to humans, when you heal them?” Max lifted Liz’s hand to his lips and kissed them. They both noticed, that it caused the energy flowing in Liz’s hands to increase. “Am I part alien now? Am I getting powers too?” “I don’t know Liz, I didn’t even know that this was possible. It seems the closer we get to…well, you know the more intense the energy becomes. Maybe we should,” His voice trailed off but his eyes finished the question. Liz stood on her tiptoes “Yeah, she replied with a husky voice. “Maybe we should try.” Max scooped Liz up in his arms and carried her up to her bedroom. Panic suddenly flashed in Liz’s eyes when Max lowered her to the bed. “But Max, what if what happen last time, happens again?” Max grabbed Liz’s pillows from off her bed, and tossed them on the floor around the bed. Liz smiled at Max amused. “Well, lets hope you don’t go flying towards the windows.” Max grinned down at her, and lowered himself to her and kissed her. The moment their lips met, the connection is instantaneous. Images of moments they had spent together, the last year and a half. As the kiss became deeper, the images came faster. Lost in the kiss and the images flooding her mind, Liz was completely unaware that Max had managed to remove her top, as well as his. Even when he broke the kiss, and trailed down to her neck she was still absorbed in their connection. It wasn’t until her jeans had been unbuttoned and pulled down to her knees did she realize the energy in the room, had picked up a few notches. She could feel it everywhere. It flowed around them and in her skin. Both of them realized they were reaching a goal, which was more than just physical; something subconscious was pulling them together. Liz bit her bottom lip when Max pulled her pants off completely. Moments later their bodies were naked and entwined in an acient and primitive ritual. Just as they were reaching the climax, a flash they never had seen before, came from the depths of their souls.
*flash*

a boy and girl are sitting together on a flat field of grass, in the middle of a court yard. As, Max and Liz’s mind draw closer to the children; they realized the children were not human at all. They had big black almond shaped eyes. The girl’s hair was long thick and wavy; it’s color chestnut brown: The boy’s, a darker shade of brown. “Alora!” a voice calls. The little girl turns to the direction of the voice, and then sadly stands up. It’s at that moment; Max and Liz realize the children had been holding hands the whole time.
As, the image began to fade from their minds; an annoying ring invaded their thoughts. Max groaned in protest; his face snuggled into the crook of Liz’s neck. Liz fumbled for the phone. “Liz!” Maria’s annoyed voice stated through the phone. Liz’s eye went wide. “I have been honking the horn for 10 minutes now. What the hell are you doing up there!?” Maria demanded angrily. Liz had to control the urge to giggle when she imagined the look on Maria’s face if she knew. “Gimme a few minutes and I’ll be down.” And she hung up the phone, before Maria could hurry her along. “You better get dressed just in case, she decides to come up.” Liz warned Max. “Are you okay?” his eyes flashed concerned. Liz knew he was referring to the fact it had been her first time, as well as his. “ I guess I should be sore, but I’m not.” Relief spread across his features. Liz sighed sadly. “I wish I could just spend the night in your arms cuddling, but I have to go to New York.” Max kisses her forehead and climbs out of bed. “It’s okay,” He says while pulling on his most comfortable jeans. “We’ll do this again when you come back.” He said with grin. Liz couldn’t help but grin back. When she had dressed completely, Liz threw a duffel bag on her bed from her closet, and began stuffing clothes in it. “Are you gonna be okay while I’m gone?” Max threw her a amused look. “I mean with the whole Tess situation.” Liz felt herself tensing a little, but no green sparks shot from her hands. That fact relieved Liz a bit. “Yeah,” Max replied, “I think I am going to try that memory retrieval thing. You know, just to see if I remember anything.” Liz had stopped in her tracks momentarily, when Max mentioned the memory retrieval. “Hoping to find out, who that little boy and girl was?” Liz said referring to the flash they had gotten. “You saw that too huh?” he asked. Liz nodded. “I’m not sure, but I think that was you and me, I mean it felt like you and me.” Max confessed. Liz zippered up the bag. “Yeah, it felt that way to me as well.” Maria honks her horn again. Liz rolls her eyes. “I better get down there, otherwise she’ll be chewing me out the whole ride up.” Max nods. And then suddenly pulls Liz close to him. “Please be careful.” He says seriously “If you have any problems, call me. Michael and I will come as fast as we can.” Max kisses her Just Maria gives another honk of her car horn. “See you when I get back.” Max shoves his hands in his pockets and watches her go.

Chapter 9

When Liz stepped into the car, she noticed that Maria was staring at her curiously, but she decided to ignore it for now. From the corner of her eye she could See Future Max grinning at her. He knew,” Of course he knew!” she thought infuriatingly to herself. He knew every intimate detail. She stiffened. Did he already tell Maria? God she hoped not, after all, it was a conversation to be shared over a pint of Ben and Jerry’s, with her best friend. “So where in New York, do we look for these um, Duplicates?” “The sewers.” Future Max stated. “Ew! Gross!” Maria exclaimed, “We’re going to wade through sewers?” Future Max frowned at Maria “They’re abandoned.” Maria’s nose was crinkled up in disgust. “Why did their protector, leave them in the sewers, of New York?” Future Max shrugged. “Probably, so they didn’t know there was another set.” Liz offered. Max nodded. “So, what these dupes look like Maria asked curiously?” “Just like us,” Max mumbled Liz turned suddenly to future Max “When you say just like you, you mean…” “I mean they are us, wearing New York styles, and piercings.” “Hmmm,” Maria said in contemplation. “Space boy with piercings, that ought to be a site.” “You cannot be seen by Rath or Lonnie.” Max said in a deadly serious tone. Maria frowned back at him in the rear view mirror. “Lonnie and Rath are the whole reason, that the end of the world happens.” Liz explained. “Oh.” Maria replied realizing her mistake. A few moments later, Maria pulled up to a gas station to fill the car up. Liz rummages through her purse, and then goes pale, when she realizes, she has only a one dollar bill in her purse. “Oh no! Oh gawd Maria!” she exclaims mournfully. Maria looked from Liz’s purse to Liz. “What?” she asked, having a feeling, she was going to regret the question. “ I don’t have any money, do you?” Maria’s eyes went wide, and she went through her jacket pockets. “Liz I can’t believe you forgot to bring money!” Maria shook her head when her pockets turned up empty. Liz sighed deeply “ At this moment, I really wishing this dollar bill, was a hundred dollar bill.” Right after Liz spoke those last words, Maria stared at her, her mouth hanging ajar. “Liz, is there something you need to tell me?” “Huh?” Liz asked puzzled Maria pointed to Liz’s lap. The one dollar bill that Liz had been holding was now replaced with a one hundred dollar bill. Future Max leaned forward from the back seat, to have a look. Liz looked back at Max with a questioning look. “When you made love to Max, your powers stabilized, now they are at full strength.” Maria’s eyebrows shot up. “you have powers now? How can that be…Wait! Did he just say after you made love with Max?” Liz bit her bottom lip and tucked a lock of hair behind her ear. Liz nodded. “I was going to tell you Maria, but um…. I didn’t want to share that with you, with present company.” Maria smirked at Future Max briefly. “What difference does it make?” Maria asked. “Doesn’t he know anyways?” Liz blushed “Well, yeah but…. still, it’s embarrassing.”
Maria snorted and shook her head. “Let’s just pay for the gas, and get going.” Liz suggested. Maria gave Liz a look she knew far to well. It was the “we’ll talk about this later.” Look.
“Liz are you there?” she heard Max’s voice ask. She looked back at future Max “Yeah I was just daydreaming.” Max looked at her perplexed. “Excuse me?” “You asked me if I was there…didn’t you?” future Max shook his head. Liz frowned at him then turned back around. “Liz!” she heard Max call again. Liz looked at Maria. “You can’t hear that?” Maria furrowed eyebrows in concern and momentarily took her eyes off the road. “ No, I don’t hear anything. Liz? Are you okay?”

The moment Maria’s Jetta pulled away, Max was already missing Liz. The intensity of their lovemaking had completely blown him away. Max wished she were still next to him, he wanted to make love to her, like that, again. He groaned inwardly as struggled to control his hormones. At this point, his only best friend was a cold shower. When he had finished getting dressed Isabel knocked on his door. “It’s open.” He stated loud enough for to hear. Isabel strolled in. “Where you going?” she asked, noticing he had put on a very unattractive sweat suit. “To see Tess, she wants to try some memory retrieval techniques.” Isabel eyed him curiously “I noticed you and Tess have been getting friendly to each other. Does this have something to do with, Liz sleeping with Kyle?” Max cringed “You heard about that?” Isabel snorted, “Max, everybody has heard about that” “Really?” he asked pretending to be uncomfortable. “Yeah, it’s all over school. Tess has been looking pretty smug about it. I bet you anything, she’s been the one spreading the word.” Max had to give Liz credit, if she had let him believe that she indeed slept with Kyle, it could have well, been the end of their relationship. How embarrassing it would have been, to have his broken heart on display. Then Max thought of Tess, it would be the perfect way for her to weasel her way into his personal life, to get close. The future version of him, told Liz that was just what Tess had done; as a result, they had a child. He was grateful to be able to know of Tess’s dark nature, before an innocent child became involved. “Hello? Earth calling Max.” Max looked up at Isabel suddenly, “I’m sorry Iz, I really don’t feel like talking about it right now.” Isabel nodded sympathetically. “Do you want me to talk to Liz for you?”
It was the first time Isabel had shown any real concern, about Max and Liz’s relation ship. When Isabel had heard that Liz had slept with Kyle, she knew her brother must have been hurting. She hated to see him hurt. “ No, thanks, I can handle this.” Isabel frowned “Are you sure?” she asks. Max nods “Yeah.”
A few minutes later Max found himself knocking on the Valenti’s door. Tess answers the door; her baby blue eyes sparkled up at him. She was obviously happy to see him, a little too happy Max noted. “I was wondering if we could try…I mean, if you don’t mind. if you have the time.” Max mumbled uncomfortably. Tess’s smile widened. “You want try the memory retrieval techniques?” Max nodded. Tess took his hand, and led him into the room Kyle had given up for her. Tess hopped on her bed, and sat down Indian style. When Max just stared at her, she patted the bed, encouraging him to follow suit. “Ok, first concentrate on your breathing.” Tess started, and then peeked to make sure Max was doing the same. Satisfied that he was she continued. “Breathe slowly, focus on the air entering your lungs, then focus on the air as it leaves your lungs.” Max followed her instructions, and suddenly it happened. A memory, but more like a feeling. It was Tess. At one point in that life, he had loved her, truly loved her. Time then went backwards. He was sad, someone he had really loved died. Zan was still so young; just turning into the first stages of adulthood. He remembered have a strong connection with this friend. So close in fact, that they connected mentally. At that moment, it was as if something switched on in his mind. Max heard Maria’s voice laughing, he felt embarrassment, was it his embarrassment. Max heard his voice, but it was a bit older, but he was sure it was his voice. He was seeing what Liz was seeing. How was it possible? Then a idea struck him “Liz are you there?” he had sensed she was daydreaming, but became alert the minute he called out to her. She had heard him! It was amazing. He opened his eyes, to find Tess staring at him curiously. “What did you see?” He had to think up something fast, and he did and amazingly enough, Tess bought it all. But then, he wasn’t surprised she was a murderer after all, and a betrayer.

Chapter 10

After two days of driving, Liz, Future Max and Maria, were relieved to see the signs indicating they were entering New York City. Maria crinkles up her nose “Ugh! What’s that smell?” she asks in disgust. Future Max smells the air. He knew that smell; it was the smell all cities had. In his time, he and Liz had taken many family trips to New York City. Ava knew the city like the back of her hand, and accompanied them several times. “That would be city air for you.” He replied. “Gross!” Maria snorted. Liz arched an eyebrow at her curiously. “If you want to be a professional singer someday,” Liz said looking out of the window. “Better get used to the smells.”
Twenty minutes later, Future Max is in the drivers seat weaving through crowded city streets, a warm inviting smell seeps into the Jetta. Maria and Liz inhale deeply, and then look at each other knowingly. “Cheesecake!” they exclaimed simultaneously. Maria pouts over at Max. “Oh, can we pull over and get some pleeeeeease.” Max rolled his eyes and agreed reluctantly but then gave a grunt of satisfaction when he recognized the area as being close to where Ava, used to live.
Liz agreed to be the one, to go into the deli. As, she stepped in she was rummaging for the dollar bill in her purse. The moment she touched the paper, she wished it into a fifty. When she pulled the fifty out of her purse, she smiled with satisfaction. As the line to the register grew shorter, Liz could see they had several selections of cheesecakes. “I recommend the strawberry.” A familiar, yet strangely accented voice, offered from behind her. The moment Zan had laid eyes on the brown-eyed beauty’s petite form; he couldn’t tear his eyes away. She was the most exquisite creature he had ever seen. Her brown eyes were dark and soulful, her form slender and petite. She was the exact opposite of his girlfriend, who’s form more generous. Liz slowly turned to look into a pair of brown eyes she had known only too well, for the last year and a half. But, instead of Max there stood a man with a face similar to Max and yet, it was so different. His hair, was gelled in sloping spikes, his eyebrow was pierced. Right above his chin, there was another piercing. On his chin was a goatee. His physical form was exactly like Max’s, and the lazy smile that spread across his lips, was exactly the same Max gave. Liz bit her bottom lips and gave a small smile. He looked directly into her eyes.
“My name is Zan.” He held out his hand. Liz slipped her small hand into his. “Liz, Liz Parker.” He reminded her so much of Max, so much in fact, that she was already comfortable in his presence. “So, what’s a sweet thing like you doin in the rough part of the city?” Liz blushed and his ignorant compliment. “Getting cheesecake, me and my friend just had to stop and get some.” When Liz was next in line she ordered two slices of the strawberry cheesecake. “Well, I must be going Zan, my friends are waiting.” She explained pointing outside. Zan was feeling he just had to see her again. He didn’t know why, but he just had to. Maybe it was because, when he looked in her eyes…he felt like he knew her some how, or maybe is was they way his hormones raged when he looked at her petite form or just maybe is was because he felt his whole life lead up to this one moment. “Can I see you again?” Liz eyebrows shot up. Had he just asked her out? “I mean, I would like to see you again.” Zan stammered. Who was she? Zan never went for the cornball chicks. Ava was more his type punk hair and New York style. Not this Liz girl, with her cashmere sweater and an embroidered skirt. Yet, he was more drawn to her, than he had ever been to Ava. “Um, yeah sure.” Liz couldn’t help but smile. Liz knew she had to say yes, but was pleased that she honestly meant it. She scribbled her cell phone number on a napkin, then handed it to him. She was careful not to touch him, knowing full well, that what they were feeling at that moment, it would cause them to have a flash. Liz was not sure what Zan’s reaction would be, but it would ruin any trust Zan may have in her. Zan stared down at the napkin as Liz walked away. “Yo! Zan! You done or what?” a petite girl with pink and black hair asked. Zan quickly shoved the napkin in his back pocket. Ava’s baby blue eyes stared at Zan curiously. “What’s that?” Zan looked away “Just grabbing napkins for laydah.” Ava knew he was lying, she could sense it; But that’s how it was between them, distant. This time Zan looked different, Ava observed. It was as if something had came to life in his eyes, and in his stance. Ava glanced outside as a brunette hopped into a Jetta not too far from the deli. What had happened? Ava thought to herself, with a pang of jealousy.
Liz hopped into the Jetta face flushed. Not noticing. Maria eagerly snatched the bag Liz was holding out of her hands. “oooo what kind did you get?” She asked sticking her nose in the bag. Future Max, however noticed the increase of color in Liz’s face, but decided to bring it up later.
“So, what now?” Maria asked, her voice muffled, due to a mouth full of cheesecake. Future Max looked around. “We find a place to park, and come up with a game plan.” Liz’s face turned a few shades redder. “Um, that won’t be necessary.” Max looked at Liz. “I already bumped into Zan.” Maria suddenly stopped munching on her cheesecake. “Boy, he must have been a dead ringer for Max or something, to make you blush like that. What happened in there?” Liz shifted uncomfortably under Max’s stare. “He kinda asked to see me again.” Maria gasped. “Did you say yes?” she asked curiously. Liz looked at Future Max uncomfortably and nodded. Why did she feel uncomfortable? It wasn’t like she was cheating on Max, not really. What she felt for Zan is exactly what she felt for Max, and there had to be a connection, or a reason. She noticed Zan return the same look she had given him; the same look Max always got, that dark smoky look.
