Title: Picking Up The Pieces
Author: Jessika aka Dreamer<3
Category: Lu/Li
Rating: Adult
Disclaimer: I don’t own either the concepts or characters from Roswell and One Tree Hill.
Summary: Picking up the pieces isn’t that easy, luckily Liz and Lucas find each other in their time of need.
Author’s Note: There was no End of The World, no future Max, none of that. Max was just tired of waiting around for Liz, and moved on. Alex is still alive, Tess didn’t kill him, and there was no departure. Max and Tess are together, after the prom, and Tess is now pregnant. The baby can live on earth. Everything happened in One Tree Hill, it’s on when Lucas catches Brooke with Chris Kellar.

I just want to give a big thanks to Juliana for betaing this for me! You were great hun!

Pain, anguish, heartache, choose your set of words; that was what Liz Parker was feeling the minute the love of her life told her that he had gotten the reason for the end of their happiness pregnant.

She couldn’t breathe, she couldn’t speak, all she could do was run, run as far away as possible. Run from Max, run from Tess, run from the never-ending pain in her heart.

“Mom, please!” Liz pleaded with her mother.

“Liz I don’t understand, you have 2 more months left in your junior year, why can’t you just wait until then to go see Whitey?” Nancy Parker couldn’t for the life of her understand why her daughter would be begging her to leave and go visit her brother Whitey, all the way in North Carolina.

“Mom, you can’t understand, but please, for me, will you just do me this one favor. I can finish up school over there, just have them mail everything there. I just need to get away.” Liz said on the brink of tears.

“Liz, then make me understand! Please just talk to me!” Nancy cried, she hated this distance between the two of them. She had always been so close to her mother, she wished that so much for the two of them.

“Mom.” Liz sighed and collapsed on the couch. Nancy gently sat down next to her and took her hands into her own.

“What is it, honey?”

“Tess is pregnant.” Liz sobbed. This was her 4th breakdown since she found out the truth, and she was just sick of the tears.

“Oh honey,” Nancy gathered her precious daughter into her arms. She knew that things had been off with Max and her, but she didn’t expect it to be this bad. Her poor daughter must have been going through hell.

“Mom, I just can’t stay, every time I turn around, I’m just reminded of everything, and I can’t do it Mom, I can’t do it.” She cried. Nancy ran her hands soothing throughout her daughter’s hand.

“Shh, it’s ok honey, I understand. Don’t worry, I’ll talk to your father, I’m sure we’ll be able to work something out with your school too. It’s going to be ok honey, I promise. Don’t you ever let a boy be the reason for your tears. If he put them there, then he isn’t worth it.” Nancy was finally happy that she had connected with her daughter, and she knew what she needed, and as her mother, she would try and give her the peace that she needed.

“Thanks mom.”

“Thanks Whitey, you don’t know how much I appreciate this.” Nancy said into the phone to her brother, who kindly agreed to take her daughter in for the next couple of months.

“Nance, what did I tell you. I don’t see much of my family these days, all I got is these god damn basketball players, my niece is just the refreshment I need. But I’m afraid my car has had too many good runs, and is in the shop, so I’ve asked one of my boys to pick her up. I hope that’s not a problem.” Whitey Durham said to his baby sister.

“Not a problem at all, I’ll call you once everything’s settled.”

“Ok Nance.” They bid there goodbyes, and hung up. Afterwards Nancy walked towards Liz’s room to check up on things.

She knocked slightly on the already opened door.

“Hey, how are things coming along?” She asked as she entered. Inside was Liz, Maria, and Alex. The three were packing, Liz’s main necessities.

“We’re almost done here mom.” Liz said as she zipped one her suitcases shut. Once she did so she pushed the hair that came out from her ponytail behind her ear.

“That’s good, well I called your uncle, and he said that you’re all set to stay, but his car is in the garage, so he asked one of his players to pick you up if that’s fine with you.”

“It’s fine mom.” She gave her mom a soft smile. She was extremely gratefully on how understanding her mom has been, considering how rocky things were before.

“Well, I’ll go get your father, we need all the help we can to get these suitcases in the car.” She said walking out the door, in search of her husband.

“All set here chica.” Maria said as she zipped the last suitcase shut. Truth was she was dreading this day, she knew it was what Liz needed, but she just wished that she didn’t have to loose her best friend because of Max Evans’ stupid mistakes.

“Thanks you guys, for everything.” She said as she slumped down on the bed.

“You know we’re always here.” Maria said as she and Alex sat down next to her; both wrapping one arm around her.

“So, I guess this is it for a while.” Liz sighed. It was hard enough with everything going on, but she didn’t want to leave Alex and Maria as well.

“Hey, me and Alex are going to be fine, you need this. Don’t worry about us, and plus you’re just a phone call away, just go and have a good time.” Alex nodded in agreement.

“Thanks, you don’t know how much this means to me, that you’re both so supportive of my decision.”

“Of course honey. Now come on, let’s get your stuff downstairs, you have a plane to catch.”

*****

“Scott!” Whitey called over to one his best basketball players. Lucas looked over and sighed, he wondered what Whitey needed, but maybe it might give him a good chance to avoid Brooke.

“What’s up Whitey?” Lucas said walking up to him.

“My niece, she’s coming in from Roswell, and since I’m having some car trouble, I need someone to pick her up. You seemed like the best candidate, so what do you say? Think you can manage it?” Whitey asked.

Lucas sighed and then looked to his left, he saw Brooke sitting down with Hayley looking over in his direction; it was obvious she wanted his attention.

“Yeah, I can do it.” Lucas said knowing that he needed a distraction.

“Great, she’ll be at the airport in an hour, I expect you to be there on time.” Whitey said giving him a quick pat on the shoulder, before walking back into his office.

Lucas sighed, and walked right past Brooke, successfully managing to ignore her completely.

*****

Once they managed to get downstairs Liz wasn’t prepared for the sight that greeted her. Downstairs, there was Michael, Isabel, Tess, and Max, all sitting in a booth, eating breakfast.

“Its ok sweetie, just ignore them.” Maria reassured as she put a supporting arm around her shoulder.

Max looked up from his breakfast and saw Maria, Alex, and Liz had made an appearance in the diner, but with them were 3 suitcases.

“What’s going on?” Max questioned. Michael and Isabel looked at each other unsure if they should be the one to break the news.

“Well?” Max pressed.

“Max, it’s really not any of your business.” Isabel said. As much as she loved her brother, what he done to Liz wasn’t fair. She knew she was never really a big fan of the two of them being together, but getting Tess pregnant, that was never something she wanted either. She could only imagine the heartbreak Liz was going through.

“Max, I think she’s right.” Tess said feeling a little jealous that Max was still curious about Liz, even though they were now together.

“No, I don’t care, we’re all a group.” Max said getting up from the booth walking over to the three friends.

As if on cue, Maria and Alex huddled in front of Liz to protect her.

“What do you want Max?” Maria questioned rudely.

“Where are you going?” He asked getting to the point.

“It’s none of your business Evans.” Kyle said coming up from behind them. He noticed the exchange between everyone the minute he walked in, and him not being the biggest fan of Max’s he had no problem getting involved.

“I wasn’t asking you Kyle.”

“He’s right, it’s not your business.” Liz finally said. She loved her friends for sticking up for her, but this was something she needed to do for herself.

“Liz?” Max said with a tint of confusion and hurt in his voice.

“You no longer have a place in my life Max, you gave that up a while ago.”

“Liz, please.”

“Max get out of our ways.” Liz demanded. Max looked into her eyes and no longer saw that love or that carefree happiness he’d always seen, it was now filled with hate, and anger, and he hated that he put it there.

He sighed and stepped out their ways, and little did he know, he had stepped out her life that exact moment as well.

*****

“So, don’t forget to call, whenever you feel you need to, okay?” Liz smiled and nodded. She gave Maria a big hug and then moved onto Alex.

“I’ll be seeing you in a couple months munchkin.” He said taking her into his arms and giving her a kiss on the forehead. She let out a soft laugh, and then let go and stood in front of Kyle.

“Thanks for everything Kyle.” She said. He nodded.

“It’s no problem, don’t be a stranger.” He said giving her a quick hug. Once they pulled apart Liz gave him a soft smile and then looked to her parents. She let out a big sigh.

“Oh honey, don’t forget to call, and whenever you want to come home, just let us know, and I promise we’ll book you the next plane home.” Nancy sighed hugging her only daughter.

“Thanks mom. For everything, really.” Liz said into her back as she held onto her mom close. When they pulled apart Nancy wiped the tears from her face and pushed Liz’s hair behind her ears. She leaned into give her a quick kiss on the cheek, and then let her say goodbye to her father.

“Bye Dad.” Liz said wrapping her arms around him.

“Bye sweetheart.” He said holding her tight. Once Liz was done with all her goodbyes she walked over to the gate, handed the lady her ticket, gave one last look at her family, and then boarded her plane.

“She’ll be ok, don’t you worry Nance.” Jeff said wrapping his arms around his wife.

*****

Lucas quietly waited for Whitey’s niece’s plane to arrive. He wasn’t sure what she looked like, but Whitey gave him a pretty good description.

From the corner of his eye he saw a girl coming out of the terminal and running into her lover’s arm, giving him a big passionate kiss, and he sighed.

He couldn’t believe Brooke. After all that shit she gave him about fighting for her, and him being there for her, he couldn’t believe she didn’t take her own advice and fight for him, but instead she slept with Chris Kellar. He loved her, he did, but he could only take so much. He couldn’t wait for her to realize that he didn’t want to hurt her, and also in the process for her to come around all he received was pain from her. He was tired, and he didn’t want to try any more.

*****

“Please fasten your seatbelts, we will be landing momentarily.” The stewardess said over the announcement speakers.

Liz looked to her side, out the window. She wondered if this escape would be what she needed. Was it the right choice? Was she making a big mistake? Would anything ever get rid of the heartache in her heart? All these questions, and there was yet one left to be answered, and she was getting anxious.

She just sighed and looked out the window as the plane landed. Once every thing was all set, and everyone was ready to leave, Liz grabbed her bag from the upper compartment, and walked off the plane. She walked over to the conveyer belt where her suitcases should have been coming out, and once she successfully managed to get them off the belt, she looked around to find the boy her uncle had sent to get her.

To her it all seemed useless, she had no clue what this boy was supposed to look like, and there must have been hundreds of people roaming about.

Lucas looked over at the gate and cursed himself for not noticing that it had already let out. He got up from his seat and looked around to see anyone that would have fit Whitey’s description.

He looked to his left, and saw a girl looking around. Her back was faced to him, but she seemed to fit the description from what he could see. She had three suitcases with her, and one carry on, she was petite, and had long brown hair. Seeing that she was looking around for someone, she could have easily been the girl he was looking for. So he walked over to her.

“Excuse me, are you Liz Parker?” He asked kindly. The girl whipped around and what greeted him was a gorgeous girl, with big brown eyes.

“Yes! Are you the…” Liz took a good look at him, and the boy was amazing. He had these piercing blue eyes that you could get lost in, and his arms were built, and she could already tell that his body was beyond amazing, even with his shirt on.

“I’m sorry. I’m Liz Parker, you must be Lucas.” Liz said sticking out her hand. Lucas laughed and took her hand shaking it slightly. He than used the same hand to scratch his head.

“Yeah, that’s me.” Whitey didn’t tell him that his niece was stunning when he said that little description of his.

“Umm, great, so umm these are my bags.” Liz said. Lucas snapped out his trance.

“Oh I’m sorry, yeah, let me go get a trolley.” He cursed himself for being stupid. He jogged over and paid 2 dollars to get the trolley unlocked from the rest, and jogged it back over.

“I got it.” He said grabbing the suitcases and hoisting them up on the trolley. Liz smiled.

“Thanks.” She said.

“No Prob.”

They walked back to Lucas’s truck and once everything was settled they were on their way to Whitey’s house. They sat in silence the whole time, both wanting to make conversation, but the words not really coming out.

Once they reached the house Lucas knocked on the door and Whitey opened the door.

“Lizzie! Come here!” Whitey said walking up greeting his niece in a big hug. Lucas laughed at the encounter, never had he witnessed Whitey Durham ever so cheery.

“What are you laughing at Scott, get her bags in the house.” He said.

“Sorry coach.” He jogged over the back of his truck taking the suitcases out one by one.

“So, you grew up since the last time I saw you. You look just like your grandmother.” Whitey beamed.

“Thanks Uncle Whitey.”

“Come on in. I’ve got the guest room all set and ready for you. But before we get settled, I need to get going to the school, I got practice, so I’m sorry. You can come if you want.” Whitey said.

“That sounds great.”

“Wonderful.”

“Uh, coach, I got all the stuff in, want me to get going?” Lucas asked as he stood by the frame of the door.

“Actually, you’re going to be our ride to practice.” Whitey said with a wide smile. He walked passed Lucas and gave him a hard pat on the shoulder and let out a laugh before walking over to the truck.

Lucas shook his head and just laughed.

“After you.” He said gesturing to Liz.

“Thanks.” She said giving him a sweet smile before walking passed him towards the car. He sighed out loud and closed the door shut before jogging to the car.

Thankfully the ride was short, and uneventful, and when they reached the gym, Lucas was immediately regretting his decision to come to practice once realizing that Brooke would be there as well.

However he managed to put up a brave front, and luckily managed to avoid her the whole practice. Now after he had showered and changed, he came out of the locker room, only to be met with the one person he had been trying to stay away from.

“Lucas can we please talk.” Brooke pleaded.

Liz, who was standing only a few feet away, couldn’t help but eavesdrop, as she waited for her uncle to come out of the locker room.

“Brooke I have nothing to say to you.” He said trying to walk past her, but she grabbed onto his arm.

“Please Lucas, I didn’t mean it. I don’t know what happened, but I didn’t mean to do it.” She cried.

Liz wondered what she was talking about.

“Well Brooke it did happen, and It’s pretty hard to take something like sleeping with Chris Kellar back, so if you don’t mind I have things to do.” He said pushing her off, before walking away.

Liz looked away quickly hoping that Lucas wouldn’t notice that she was eavesdropping. She was however feeling sympathetic towards him, it was ironic because she was kind of going through the same thing, only Max wasn’t(?) begging at her hands and feet to get back with him.

“Hey, um where’s Whitey?” Lucas said walking up to Liz. He was trying to get Brooke out of his head, but it was all so hard.

“Oh, um he should be here soon.” She said giving him a soft smile.

“He’s here now, but I have some bad news. I’m stuck doing a staff meeting, all the teachers are going, and I won’t be home till late. I’m sorry Lizzie.” Whitey said coming up from behind the two teens.

“Oh, it’s ok Uncle Whitey, I have to unpack anyways, so I wouldn’t be much fun anyways.”

“Great, well, Luke I know I took up a lot of your day today, but I hope you wouldn’t mind making sure that Liz gets home ok.” Whitey asked. Lucas shook his head.

“It’s no problem Whitey.”

“Good, well, don’t wait up for me, these things take a long time.” He gave the two a nod and walked back into the direction the school.

“Thanks, for everything today.” Liz said politely.

“It was no problem, it’s not everyday I get to escort gorgeous girls.” He said with a smile, one that drove Liz crazy.

They got into the car, and soon they were driving in the direction of Whitey’s house.

“So I couldn’t help but hear your conversation with that girl, back there.” Liz admitted. She knew what it felt like, and even though she still wasn’t over it, she still knew that it would be good for him to talk about it.

“Oh. Umm, it’s just stupid.” Lucas didn’t know what to say. He hadn’t really talked about it with anyone yet.

“I know how you feel.” Liz confessed. He looked over at her.

“How’s that?”

“You’ll probably think it’s stupid, but it’s kind of the reason why I’m here.” He raised his eyebrow at her.

“Umm, my ex, I guess you can say I was in love with him. Well there was this girl, you know big boobs, blonde hair, the whole ordeal. Anyways she’s pregnant now, and I’m here sitting next to you.” He looked over at her and saw the hurt in her eyes.

“I don’t think that’s stupid. And no offense, but your ex is a dumb ass, blonde and big boobs over you, he must have been a different species or something.” Liz laughed out loud at the irony of that.

“Sorry, it’s just…Never mind.” She said with a soft laugh.

“Well I’m glad what ever it is made you laugh. Your laugh is really beautiful.” Liz blushed.

“Thanks. And as for you, your well, I’m not sure what she is to you.”

“Brooke, is my ex.”

“Well your ex is pretty dumb as well. I guess people aren’t really ever satisfied with what they have, either that or they just don’t realize what they have until it’s too late.”

“Yeah, well I guess shit happens right.” He said coming to a stop seeing as they reached Whitey’s house.

“Thanks, for dropping me home.” Lucas smiled.

“It was no problem.” Liz bit her lip trying to refrain from asking what she was about to ask.

“Do you want to come in? I mean if you’re not busy or anything.” Lucas smirked.

“No, I’d like that.”

*****

One hour later, Lucas and Liz were both very drunk off of the few bottles of alcohol Whitey contained.

“I hate love, it just always bites you in the ass.” Liz slurred as she took yet another shot of tequila.

“It does, even when you try your hardest to prove it, it does nothing but betray you. I tell you the only thing good that can come out of relationships is the sex.” Lucas ranted.

Liz laughed. “Oh well then I truly have no idea.” Lucas looked at her in shock.

“Are you a virgin?” He garbled drunkenly.

“Yes, yes I am. Although, now I’m kind of wishing I wasn’t. Too think I saved myself for that, that monster! And for what! ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING!”

“Well, want to hear something funny. I’m the guy right. Well I lost my virginity to her, and the sad part was I wasn’t the first for her. The girl wasn’t the virgin! How funny is that?” He took another shot.

“Have you ever had sex with a complete stranger?” Liz didn’t know what she was thinking, but she was feeling hot, and was filled with ache, and Lucas was just looking so damn good.

“Once, she turned out to be one of my good friend’s daughter’s mother. Drama never ceases in Tree Hill.”

“Yeah, well it aint all the peachy in Roswell either.” Liz said taking another shot.

“How many has that been now?”

“I think 10.”

“Nice.”

“Thanks.” Liz smiled widely and he smiled back and it drove her crazy. She crawled over to him, and their faces were inches apart.

“You know that thing I said about strangers and sex.” She whispered. She could feel his breath on her and it was driving her crazy.

“Yeah.” He gulped. She was so beautiful.

“Well, I was thinking, I don’t live in Tree Hill, so it can’t cause that much drama.” She crawled onto his lap and wrapped her legs around his waist.

“No, it wouldn’t would it.” His mouth was inches away from her neck, and the feel of his breath on her sensitive spot drove her to the edge.

“Lucas.” She moaned. That’s all it took, and he took her mouth into his, and she instantly granted him access. She moaned against his lips at the contact, and their tongues dueled in a passionate pace.

He immediately stiffened, and Liz pulled back at the feel of his erection against her aching core. He attacked her neck, and she pushed her head back, slowly grinding against him.

“God that feels so good.” She moaned. He brought his hands to her thighs and massaged them as he continued his assault on her neck. Liz was feeling so many things, she didn’t know if it was the effects from the alcohol, but she wanted him badly, and she knew if she didn’t have him, she would explode.

“Bedroom.” She moaned. Lucas quickly nodded, and lifted her up. Her legs stayed securely wrapped around his waist, and he carried her to the guestroom, the alcohol bottles long forgotten.

Once he closed the door shut he pushed her up against the wall, driving his erection into her.

“God, Lucas.” She moaned. She pulled his head to hers, and he devoured her mouth. Keeping one hand at her side, he brought the other one up, and cupped her breasts, using his thumb to brush against her nipple. Liz pushed back slightly.

“Bed.” She got out through her heavy breathing.

He pinned her down onto the bed and removed her shirt. He unclasped her bra and gently cupped her breasts, mimicking his earlier movements, of brushing her nipple with the tip of his thumbs.

Not long after, his mouth attacks her right breast, and she moans out his name. She’s never felt such things, and it was amazing. She threw her head back in bliss and soon he’s switching to the other breast, and then she quickly cries out his name as her orgasm rips through her.

They don’t share any conversation; they just work to take each other’s clothes off. Once they’re both rid of their clothes, Liz takes the time to examine him. She take his large member into her tiny hands, and he groans with the contact. She starts a slow motion and strokes him gently.

“God, you’re going to make this a lot shorter than it should be.” He groans. She looks up at him, and leans back down. He takes her mouth into his yet again. His hands sneak up her legs and soon his fingers find their way into her silky depths.

“Lucas!” She cries out the minute 2 of his fingers find their way into her dripping wet core. He pumps them in and out, and soon she’s thrusting with his fingers, and she feels her orgasm fast approaching. But before she reaches it, he removes his fingers, and replaces them with the tip of his penis. He gently enters and once he reaches her barrier, he holds onto her tight.

She cries out in the pain, and he stays unmoving, until she’s comfortable to go on. When she is, she moves her hips readily, and soon he’s thrusting into her in a fast pace.

She chants his name over and over, as the pain was now gone and replaced with pure pleasure.

“Faster.” She moans, as she feels her orgasm approaching fast. He complies, and thrusts into her harder and faster, and soon her walls are contracting around him, bringing him to the edge as well.

She cries out his name in ecstasy, and he collapses on top of her.

“That was wow.” She said, still on a high.

“Yeah.” He agrees and they soon fall fast asleep.

2 hours later, Liz wakes up to an unfamiliar feeling in her head and between her legs. They both ache, and when she looks to her side, she realizes then what had happened.

“Oh god.” She mumbled. What had she done?

Lucas begins to stir when he feels movement next to him. When he wakes up he looks around and realizes that he’s not in his room.

“What the…” He gets up and immediately regrets it after he feels the throbbing pain coming from his head. He looks over to his right and then notices Liz.

“Oh no.”

“Yeah.” Liz says shaking her head.

“Whitey’s gonna kill me!” Lucas said jumping up from the bed quickly putting on his clothes. Liz looked up at him in shock. She knew what they did was a mistake, and he had every right to regret it, but she couldn’t help but feel sadness. This would be the second time she would have gotten rejected.

When Lucas looks up he notices the sad look on her face.

“Liz…” He starts but gets interrupted by a cell phone ringing. He looks at the caller-id. It was Brooke. He sent her a busy tone, and then realized that this was his chance.

He looked over at Liz. She was beautiful, she was obviously caring, and she was going through the same things he was. She was a good listener, and maybe they were exactly what each other needed. He didn’t want her to be his rebound, he wanted more with her. He wasn’t sure what it was but, there was just something about her. Something genuine, something that called out to him. She was someone he could see himself with.

She looked up at him.

“You should go before Uncle Whitey comes home.” Liz whispered. He sighed and sat down on the bed, putting his phone back into his pocket. He took her hands into his and he looked into her eyes.

“What we did was wrong, but I don’t regret it.” He admitted. She looked up at him in shock.

“God, I don’t know what it is about you Liz Parker, but you just make me forget about all the shit around here. You seem so genuine, and so caring, and just exactly what I’m looking for. I know you’re in love with your ex, and I’m not going to lie and say I’m not in love with Brooke, but maybe that’s just it. The love we have for them isn’t what we need, and I think we can find it elsewhere.”

“I don’t get what you’re saying.” Liz said.

“I’m saying, that maybe there was a reason you came here, and it’s not just because you were trying to get away from your ex. I think that this was our…”

“Don’t say destiny.” Liz interrupted.

“Umm…Ok. But I can’t explain, it, how about you help me out here. I want to peruse things with you. Back in the car, when we talked, I don’t know, you’re just so understanding. You’re not like anyone else I’ve met.”

Before Liz had a chance to answer the shrill of her cell-phone brought her out of her thoughts. She reached over to grab it from the pocket of her jeans; which were on the floor.

“Hello?” She answered.

“Liz.” It was Max. Liz sighed, didn’t he already do all he could.

“What do you want Max?” Liz looked over at Lucas, and looked into his eyes. She saw that he was genuine, and maybe the things he was saying were right. Maybe there was a deeper meaning behind all this. After all, her heart was screaming out to her to follow this, and that was what Grandma Claudia always told her to do; follow your heart, no matter what road it leads you too.

“Liz, I made a terrible mistake. Tess isn’t pregnant; it was all a mind warp. It’s not true Liz, I’m so sorry. I didn’t realize it sooner. I won’t lie to you though, we did sleep together, that wasn’t a mind warp, but Liz you have to believe me. I was just so distraught, and I wanted you, it’s always been you.” Liz looked at her phone, and then looked over at Lucas.

“You know that’s the thing Max. It wasn’t always me, because you still went to her regardless. Plus even if it was all a mind warp, I couldn’t do it Max. I’m sorry.” With that she hung up. She looked at Lucas and smiled.

“I think it could work.” He smiled and leaned in and gave her a sweet quick kiss on the lips. Once they pulled apart, he raised his eyebrows.

“Mind warp?” Liz laughed.

“You don’t want to know, trust me.” She said tugging on his shirt to pull him closer to her so she could give him yet another kiss.

“LUCAS SCOTT!” Whitey Durham’s angry scream, brought new couple apart.

When the two heard glass bottles clink together, that was the when Lucas ran for it, promising Liz he’d call.

Liz smiled and laughed; the pain, anguish, and heartache slowly fading.
