Hey - Chapter 32 of "The Nightmare and The Dream" is now posted!!! I can't believe this story is almost over!!! There are only three chapters left and I've decided to post all three up at once!

I need to finish it so I can move on to the next two stories, "After Hours" and "Operation: Freedom"

Just to explain, "After Hours" is a going to be a bit different. I'm using it as a way to distract me as I write "Operation: Freedom" which is a very complicated story and may take a while to write.

"After Hours" is will have the rants, the confessions, and the heartaches of listeners of a late night radio show. All of our favorite and not so favorite characters will make an appearance in some way. Each post will have one of the characters calling onto the show.

I think my favorite part of this is that each call is actually a real-life experience of either myself or of my friends but will be told by one of the characters. Some of them will be really really funny(Look for The Flasher & The Hummer), some will be really stupid, some will make you pretty pissed off, and some will make you go 'awww!!!' - at least I think they will.

Tune in!!

Today was a beautiful sunny day.

Dawn broke over my home in beautiful hues of red, pink, yellow
Darkness receded

People walked down the street - happy, carefree
And I wonder...

Do they remember?

Do they remember the planes?
Do they remember that other beautiful day?
The shower of gray, the flames, the papers and smoke - do they remember?

The screams, the cries, the pictures of tears and horror.
Do they remember?

Four years have passed. Bodies buried. Life moves on.
But do they remember?

It was an ordinary day - early to work on a beautiful day.
Didn't see the sun, the clean grass, or the strangers on the street - it was another day.

Then the news - the pictures.
Watching the second plane.
Standing - wishing I wasn't watching.
Gasping.
Clutching a hand - who's I don't know.
Running to the phone - calling friends.
Panic because I couldn't get through.
Calling my parents, telling them my love.
Walking to the trains - watching strangers hugging strangers.
Passing tissues, holding a hand.
Riding the train, sharing a radio, holding a friend close.
Watching the news, never turning it off.
Anger.
Fear.
Hate.
Anger.
Sadness.
Helplessness.

I wish I could say I remember every month, every week, every day.
I wish I could say I mourn every day.

But every day I wake, I don't mourn, I don't hate, I don't give in to fear or paranoia.

I live.
I hold my friends closer.
I call my family every week.
I breath a little deeper.
I look strangers in the eye - looking for new friends.
I give thanks for every beautiful day.

But every year, on this day, I do remember.
And I cry.
Tears for the lost.
Tears for the horror.
Tears at the feeling of helplessness.

As the beautiful day fades, I remember.
And I cry.

Chapter 2: Purple Jesus of After Hours has been posted!

Quick note:
Purple Jesus actually happened to me. When I got the call from his fiancee, she called me at work and I was in my cube swearing at what an ass PJ was. PJ is very very charming, he's Irish so he's gifted that way.

My heart wasn't broken when I found out, because I wasn't in love with PJ, but I felt horrible that he used me to hurt his fiancee. The thing that really pissed me and the fiancee off was that all the women she found, all the chats, and all the porno sites she found were of Asian women - He had an Asian addiction.

Neither one of us, fiancee and I, would have gone near him if we had known. He hid it from us very cleverly. So not only did he deceive us about other women, he deceived us about his addiction. Double yuck.

AFTER HOURS
Chapter 3: Charity Sidenote

Ok, this sounds like a fantastical worst date scenerio but its not. This actually happened to a lady at the church of my friend. The lady, we'll call her 'Melanie', went out on a date with this really nice guy, 'Mark', that one of her church group members set her up with.

They went to a very nice restaurant and afterwards they went to a nice lounge for drinks. The entire evening, Melanie got the feeling that he wasn't really with her - he seemed distracted. An hour or so later, Melanie found out why.

Mark suddenly got up from their table and went over to another table which had a nice looking couple. Melanie noticed he was getting upset as was the other couple, and walked over. As she came up behind him, Mark flung out his hand to gesture, and accidently backhanded her.

He never apologized because he was arguing with the couple at the table. Melanie heard Mark tell the woman at the table that he was out with her as a favor for a friend of his - it didn't mean anything. Shocked, Melanie tried to interrupt but the other woman started yelling about what a jerk he was. Mark yelled back about her seeing her exboyfriend behind his back. Melanie was about to leave when she saw Mark grab the other woman's arm. The ex-boyfriend got mad and tried to step in.

Mark didn't appreciate that and punched the guy. The ex hit back. Soon, they were in an all out brawl. Tables were overturned, people got knocked down, drinks were spilled. The bouncers came running and they were kicked out of the lounge.

Mark never called to apologize and the church member who initially set her up, never apologized either - she avoided Melanie all together.

4: FLOATATION DEVICE

My friend Lynn told me this story. She had gone to a pool party at the house of one of boyfriend's friends. She had just gotten her period and she ran out of tampons - she only had these huge diaper shaped pads(like Depends) and since she didn't plan on going into the water, she wore one.

Well, mix alcohol, sun, and a pool and things don't look pretty. Boys got stupid. Girls got stupid. And suddenly there were a whole lot of people being either pushed or thrown into the pool.

Forgetting about the pad(she swears she had one too many buttery nipple shots), Lynn started teasing a guy and he threw her into the water. She came up and was ok, but then after a few minutes of horsing around, people started to notice the water becoming discolored.

That's when Lynn remembered she had on a pad. Oh no!! She tried to get out of the pool discreetly but her pad became so water logged that it pulled down her bottoms-but not too far. She grabbed them and rushed out of the pool. Once in the bathroom, Lynn said her bottoms looked like one of those baby floatation devices that wrap around their arms.

Lynn was so embarrassed that she hid in the bathroom and when her boyfriend finally found her, he started yelling at her about having to clean the pool. He took her home and she broke up with the guy shortly after.

Go ahead, laugh because the story is darn funny, but also have a little pity. That had to have sucked!

6: MR/MS

Some readers have commented that this story was bizarre, maybe unbelievable. However, this story is absolutely the truth. This story, word for word, actually happened to my friend Lynai.

After she got home from the wedding, she did have a voicemail from the guy(name withheld, just in case he's reading this) about wanting to talk. Lynai called him back after three days and they did talk, they had a great heart to heart.

Romantically, it did not work out, but they are really great friends. After meeting him, I can believe how she would never have known, never have guessed. He was so cute. <sigh>

7: EXPOSED

Ok - here's the real scoop. I was online dating and met this really nice guy. He seemed normal and we set up a coffee date at Starbucks. I have my friend A. come pick me up so that if the date was going bad, I had an easy excuse.

I met the guy, Gary, and he seemed just like out chats, nice and normal. He asked me what I was really looking for in a guy and I told him. He suddenly leans over and tells me how attractive I am. Then he says that he is getting turned on by our talk - whoa. I pull away but he keeps talking. He says he wants to show me how I make him feel.

I said, no, that's ok, but he wasn't listening. He stands up and pulls his pants down. I could have died with embarrassment! I don't know what this guy was on, but man!

No one could say anything or move - I was so embarrassed and trying to get away from him, but he was blocking the one and only door. The workers were trying to call the police but they couldn't talk with a straight face. I do think someone took a photo, but I'm not sure and I pray to god, I wasn't in it.

A. came in right as Gary pulled his pants up and sat back down. He came over to me and asked if he just saw Gary's bare ass, and I told him he did. I think A. would have been offended for me, but we were laughing too hard.

Gary was asked by the manager to leave and he did, but he was really disappointed in me because I wasn't open minded. And I hurt his feelings for laughing at him.

Oh man, A. and I still crack up over the story!!!
