Chapter 1.
As the city began to hum with people Liz Parker rested her achy head against the cool glass of the yellow cab as it sped down upper Manhattan.
Fresh out of grad school the twenty four year old dark haired beauty was finding her first week in her new career more than challenging.
Although she was lucky enough to be working under the famous Byron Green restoring works of Art at the Met, the job was certainly not without its obstacles.
This was her dream job or so she thought. She mostly spent her time being criticized for her lack of artistic eye and her poor execution to detail.
In addition to this she had to constantly deal with Mr. Green’s roving eyes and his need to brush up against her several times a day.
Needless to say this was not turning out to be the passionate dream she has fantasized about ever since her grandmother brought her to see a showing a Picasso’s most famous works when she was a young teenager.
At age thirteen she was sent to live with her grandmother in New York City after her parent’s untimely death in a tragic plane crash.
It was a huge change from the tiny town of Roswell New Mexico but her Grandma Claudia did everything in her power to expose her to all that the city had to offer.
After a long period of adjustment, the culture proved to be life changing for Liz especially one rainy spring afternoon when her grandma noticed Liz looking especially down.
Figuring she was missing her parents she decided to take her to her favorite Museum hoping a change of scenery would help.
As she strolled aimlessly through the crowded museum something caught her attention.
Something deep and very personal connected her to a collection of paintings. Actually one painting in particular filled her heart with an understanding that grief and pain could be captured forever in something as simple as oil and canvas…. like a moment in time.
Picasso’s blue period filled the walls around her. As she gazed upon the work Blue Nude she began to cry. She could feel his pain with every stroke of his paintbrush, every curve of her body. It made Liz feel less alone in her anguish.
She sat for almost an hour filled with the ever-growing knowledge that she was not alone with her feelings of despair. This was a source of great comfort and peace for her.
From that point on she immersed herself in every art history book and visited every museum she could find. It was her savoir, her escape.
She was thinking of these innocent days as her feet ached and her head pounded. All she wanted was a hot bath and a tall glass of Merlot.
Before she knew it she was in front of her building and was being helped out by Ivan the doorman, a balding Russian older man she had known since she was a child.
Ivan was fiercely protective of Liz and often still thought of her as the innocent teenager that used to sit next to him at the front desk and gossip about the other tenants.
He was especially protective of her after her grandmother decided to move back to New Mexico feeling that the heat would better suit her progressing arthritis.
“Hello Miss. Elizabeth, how are you this evening?”
Liz sighed taking Ivan’s arm resting her long silky hair against his stark emerald uniform.
“Oh fine I guess. How are you?”
“Right as rain Miss Elizabeth you know me I’m not one to complain.”
Liz smiled as she backed into the elevator and waved goodnight.
As she watched the floors light up one by one she thought of calling her good friend Kyle over to cheer her up but soon realized this was his big night out with his dream girl Tess Harding.
Kyle lived in the building with her on the floor right below her.
The first day she moved in Kyle had flown by her on his skateboard speeding down the hall. Hearing his name loudly approaching he circled back and ducked down behind the cute brunette with the braids.
Of course this was strictly forbidden and when Ivan asked Liz where the boy with the blue skateboard had gone to Liz pointed in the opposite direction. They had been best friends ever since.
When she stepped off the elevator and searched for her keys she shook her head laughing remembering how he turned down her advice passing on a nice romantic night of dinner and Opera for a game at Yankee stadium.
Apparently tickets to see the Red Socks playing the Yankees was something that he was convinced would impress Tess more than romance…or knowing him he saw this as being romantic.
Quietly she was hoping he was having better luck with his love life than she was.
After a string of disappointing boring dates that consisted of Wall Street yuppies and young financial wizards, she decided a break was much needed.
She longed to have a conversation with a man whose favorite topic was not himself or his impressive bank account.
Money and success was the last thing in the word that would impress this deeply sensitive down to earth sweet girl.
After much reflection she decided to throw herself into her work.
Her passion for art ran deeper than restoration. Liz was an artist and her paintings they were her escape. She poured her heart and soul into every canvas. It was here where her dreams lived. Most days on her lunch break or well after hours she would throw herself into whatever world she had created.
This was deeply personal to her, in her mind she would never be good enough to actually show them in a gallery or anything, although it was her life's passion and her only real ambition she was far too critical to ever let them go.
So they stayed tucked away in a storage closet in the museum where she worked that Mr. Green had no knowledge of, with the only key in her possession her secret was only shared with only one person, the person that she trusted above any other, the boy on the blue skateboard, her best friend for life, Kyle Valenti.
She painted how she wanted the world to be. Images of lovers embracing in a field full of wild flowers and majestic castles in the backdrop of striking sunsets that felt like you were gazing into heaven itself.
Putting the key into the lock she heard her phone and ran thinking it was Kyle updating her on his big date, throwing down her purse and briefcase she quickly picked up the phone.
Breathlessly and almost whispering in case Tess was nearby she spoke with anticipation.
“Hello?”
“Yes I’m wondering if you could help me, I’m looking for information regarding the Zoning regulations for the Bernard building. I was told to speak to Mr. Lawson.”
Liz leaned up against the wall of her living room and slipped off her heels as she listened to the deep almost sensual voice that flowed from the phone.
She had received these calls often with her number being one off from the city’s zoning commissioner.
Something struck her as she was about her tell this stranger that he had the wrong number that made her laugh.
Max ran the tips of his fingers along his latest design captivated by her soft giggle. Suddenly he became intrigued by the female sweet voice.
“Did I miss something?”
“Oh you’ll have to excuse my manners I’m finding the music you have playing to be a little ironic.”
Did she really recognize this music? Now she definitely had his attention.
“Excuse me?”
Max Evans pushed his chair back from his drafting table fascinated by the soft breathy feminine tone coming from his phone.
“Forgive me it’s just that Les Troyen by Berlioz is my favorite opera and I was just trying to convince a friend of mine last night to have an open mind and take his date and then I pick up the phone and there it is. Its just the odds of hearing the same music is really-
“Serendipitous?”
"Serendipitous."
Max leaned back in his chair completely stunned by her response. Most of the woman he had met would have never even heard of that word.
A few seconds of silence hung in air until Max spoke again.
"Are you still there Miss?"
"Liz, Liz Parker but you've-
“Not that many people are familiar with that Opera have you seen it live?”
“Actually only once but I’ll never forget it, my parents took me when I was thirteen.”
As she pulled the bottle of Merlot from her cabinet she closed her eyes and let the music wash over her.
Between the husky deep sound of his voice and the story unfolding in the background that she had heard so many times she found herself wishing she didn’t have to end their conversation.
“Forgive me umm…Mr.-
“Max, Max Evans.”
“Well Mr. Evans-
“Please call me Max… Mr. Evans is my father.”
Liz smiled as the dry wine flowed past her lips.
“Ok Max, I’m afraid you have the wrong number.”
He was polite and an obvious gentleman and the sound of his kind sultry voice was intoxicating she thought to herself as she sipped her wine.
“Wrong number?”
“Yes the number is practically the same just change the last number to three, this happens all the time.”
Max turned off his desk lamp and stood staring at the city lights below thinking of a way to continue their conversation without coming off too forward.
Liz was doing the same as she sunk into her white deep cushioned couch and lit a large white candle that was placed in the center of the coffee table.
Taking a deep breath Max placed his forehead on the glass as he stared at a blinking red sign on the building across from him that read, Your destiny awaits you. Of course it was an advertisement for a vacation to Aruba but Max found a deeper meaning in the pulsating lights.
“So tell me just out of curiosity how does a teenager at thirteen fall in love with Opera.”
Liz bit her bottom lip and smiled at his question.
It seemed she wasn’t the only one who wanted their conversation to continue.

Chapter 2.
Liz began to twirl a piece of her dark chocolate locks around her fingers as she started to think of ways to keep the phone call with Max going? Why? Well she wasn't quite sure why?
Hell girl you don't even know who this guy is for Christ sake! As far as you know he might be one of those crazy psycho serial killer types you hear about on the news! Like that one from Atlanta they showed on the news just last night! The crazy woman that police said kept her former boyfriends chained up in her basement!
Oh well maybe it was because he, like her seemed to be one of the rare few who liked opera? Maybe it was because she was staring down another night of tv and leftovers?
Perhaps it was the fact that most men bored her to tears and within a few minutes this stranger had her heart racing a little faster with just the sound of his husky seductive voice.
No matter what the reason was she wanted to keep the call going so she started to explain how she first heard the Italian love story when she was thirteen years old and her grandmother played it for her one late night long ago. How the song awakened something deep inside her, something passionate, even at such an young age.
As Liz continued to talk Max slowly paced his spacious loft that was covered with sketches of his favorite designs completely entranced by every word that fell from her lips and came to him through his phone.
Liz sighed in a way that stopped his movements and forced him to listen to her every word...her every breath. She sounded different than any other woman he had ever spoken to. Her voice was soft but not shy, seductive but in a subtle innocent way. There was something very sexy about that.
It was that combination that left him wanting to treat her with the up most respect but at the same time wondering what it would be like to hear her moan for him in pleasure.
He pictured her soft lips moving as he spoke to her. Immediately he went to his drafting table and pulled his sketchbook out flipping it to a fresh page.
Since he had no idea what she looked he began with her mouth imagining the shape and fullness. With gentle strokes he she drew the curve of her mouth picturing them parted and breathless, with his thumb he smooth over the charcoal edges until he achieved his desired image in his mind..
He listened to her speak of the way the performers displayed their love and pain and how it touched her.
Liz grew quiet as this memory up her parent’s death appeared in her mind. It was something she hadn’t even felt comfortable speaking to Kyle about much less some stranger on the phone.
Max could feel something change in her voice …a sadness taking over. Something more was behind this story. something that was making her sad and might cause her to end the call. Sensing this he quickly changed the subject.
"So did you just get home from work?
"And how did you know that?"
"Well you seemed out of breath when you answered, like you were running to get the phone."
"Actually yes I was."
"Do you mind me asking what kind of work you do?"
For the next four hours they discussed their careers what school they attended and what ever else crossed their minds.
They discussed her love of Art and his love of architecture while Liz ate leftover Chinese food and Max a grinder he had picked up earlier that day.
By the time they were through it was as if they had known each other their whole lives.
Each not wanting to leave the other they kept talking while doing their everyday routine like brushing their teeth and getting there things ready for work the next day.
They gave each other time to change, Liz into a white cotton tank top and matching boy shorts and him into his University of Alabama tee shirt and boxers.
Both feeling tired they climbed into their beds. Her bed was of course very feminine with piles of decorative pillows and an emerald and burgundy silk bedspread. Max was pure male, a queen size bed with a plain blue comforter his mother sent him for Christmas one year and just two normal white pillows that he picked up at Target.
Their conversation was effortless flowing from serious subjects such as their political views to how they both wound up with broken noses at the same age at six from little league baseball.
Max sighed as he rolled onto his back and rested his arm behind his head.
"You know this makes us soul mates right?
Liz giggled causing a huge grin to appear on his face.
"How do you figure that?"
"Come on both of us with broken noses in the same way at the same age?"
"Oh I see, so it’s that easy. One childhood accident and we’re connected for life."
"Seems logical to me."
Feeling warm Max pulled off his shirt and lay back into his previous position.
"So how do you think your friend is doing on his date?"
Liz rolled on her stomach and raised herself up on her elbows.
"Well I’m thinking it went very well since I haven’t heard anything and it’s …oh my god Max it’s almost one thirty!"
Max sat up as looked at his watch in disbelief. "No it can’t be."
"There’s no way we’ve been talking for six hours."
Max ran his hand threw his hair looking up at the pile of unfinished work that sat on his desk. He knew the next day would be murder but all he could really think about was if he would get to talk to her again.
Her voice got very quiet as she slipped under the covers and turned towards her side.
"So I guess we should get some sleep considering we both have work tomorrow."
Max closed his eyes as he listened to the rustling of the bed covers imaging what she was wearing or rather what she wasn’t wearing.
"Liz can you tell me one thing before you go."
"Sure."
Between the darkness of the room and the late hour a certain intimacy was felt with them both. His voice whispered to her making her body come to life and her breath shaky.
"I know this may seem forward but I’ve been imagining what you look like all night. I’m just curious if I’m right."
Listening to his husky deep voice Liz couldn’t help closing her eyes and smoothing the tips of her fingers over her breasts onto the warm bare skin of her stomach where her tank top ended. It a soft whisper she answered back.
"What would you like to know?"
He pushed the covers off of him feeling hot even though he was only wearing his boxers.
"I don’t know why but I’m picturing you with long dark hair and the most beautiful brown eyes."
Liz held her breath amazed by his prediction.
"Not that it would matter I just have to know if I’m right."
"How did you know?"
"So I’m right."
"Exactly right. Feeling that the conversation was headed in a direction she wasn’t ready for, Liz cleared her throat and spoke up.
"Well I should really get going …work tomorrow and everything."
"Right… well good luck with that boss of yours."
"Thank you Max. It was nice talking to you."
"You too Liz…good night."

Chapter 3.
Max sat back in his chair as Mr. Williams discussed his progress or lack of concerning his latest project.
He nodded and squinted his eyes giving the appearance that he was entirely committed to his latest creation. Which he was full heartedly, he just at the moment couldn’t get his mind off of a certain girl that loved Chinese food and Van Gogh’s Starry Night.
Max leaned forward giving his boss the impression that he was absorbing the importance of creating something that was efficient while maintaining an appealing esthetic vision.
Which meant.... design something that's fancy and catches everyone's eye but at the same time coming in under budget.
“Max do you feel that the deadline assigned to you is still something you can achieve?”
The deep wrinkles in Mr. Williams forehead reflected his anxiety as Max hesitated.
Snapping himself out of his daydream Max stood and reached his hand out to his boss giving his best confident smile and strong handshake assuring him that everything was under control.
"Yes sir. We’ll be on time and with any luck under budget."
A few minutes later Max was sighing as he closed the door behind him and leaned up against it closing his eyes.
“Coffee, I need coffee.”
Just as he was about to run to the break room and buckle down for a long day of work he realized something that for some reason had escaped his usual very well organized mind.
“Her number! I forgot to ask her for her number!”
Max walked frantically in circles in his office swearing at himself for being so incredibly stupid.
Sitting at his desk he reached for his phone book and flipped to the P’s.”
“Paparazzo, Papas, Papa Johns.... hmmm maybe some pizza for supper tonight...Parquette…Parker.”
Sitting back he ran his fingers through his hair and stared hopelessly at the three pages of Parkers listed in Manhattan.
Shit! Why couldn't she have had some type of unique name?! One where there wouldn't be so many of them in the phone book?!
Suddenly a light bulb went off in Max's mind and a smile grew across his exceptionally handsome sweet face.
Remembering her soft voice he sighed as he recalled her words to him.
Yes the number is practically the same just change the last number to three, this happens all the time.
He dug through his notes till he came upon the yellow sticky note from his secretary.

Placing the wrong number in his wallet he did his best to continue with his work. He couldn’t believe the connection he was feeling with a girl he had never even seen. Working through the day his thoughts would often drift back to her laugh or the sexy soft way she spoke his name.

“So the Yankees won in the tenth inning Liz! A walk off homerun! Do you believe it?”
Liz loped her arm around Kyle’s and nodded smiling at her best friend as they sat together on the subway.
“I’m sure I wouldn’t if I knew what the hell that was Kyle.”
“Well you see a walk off homerun is when the teams are tied and –
Liz began to laugh and shake his arm.
”Kyle we are not here to discuss baseball or my lack of knowledge of it! What I want to know all about is what happened with you and Tess last night on your date?”
A huge dopey grin suddenly spread across Kyle's face as he turned to stare out the subway car window.
"Ohhh yeah Tess."
Liz couldn't help but to laugh at her friend "So I'm taking from that large dopey grin on your face it went well?"
If it was even possible Kyle's smile grew even more as he started describing his date.
“Well she was sweet and down to earth, actually wanted to go to a baseball game for a first date…and let me tell you she filled out her Jeter shirt very nicely –
“Kyle!”
“Hold on a second here little missy before you start to jump on me once again." Kyle held up his hand cutting Liz off "I would just like to point out that you shouldn't start throwing stones here. Young ladies who take phone calls from complete strangers that last till the wee hours of the morning cannot be totally innocent here. So tell me all the about the hot phone sex you had, surprisingly enough it’s something I haven’t experienced yet.”
Liz punched him in the chest and folded her arms in front of her.
“We didn’t have phone sex Kyle.”
"Ok Liz, if you really believe that it wasn't a phone sex kind of call, then what did you talk about with the mysterious architect? How to build the perfect orgasm... I mean... building?"
"Just because that walnut sized brain of yours is located in your other head..." Liz pointed her hand down toward her friend's jeans ".... and doesn’t leave the bedroom doesn't mean we're all that way. We talked about everything... and nothing."
“Huh what? That doesn't make any sense!”
“We just talked okay. He was very sweet, he was even shy about asking me what I looked like.”
Kyle rolled his eyes and laughed. “Sweet? Shy? Uh huh yeah I’m sure he was. Are you sure he's not gay?”
“Kyle he’s not like that. He’s really nice and soft spoken. He asked me questions instead of going on about himself …it was kind of shocking actually.”
“So do you think he’ll call again?”
For the first time it occurred to her that he never said anything about calling back when they hung up last night.
“I have no idea.”
~~~~~~~~~~
As dusk fell over the city Liz jumped out of her cab and ran past Ivan.
“Where is the fire Miss. Elizabeth?”
Liz smiled brightly as she slowed down and backed into the elevator.
“No rush Ivan I’ve just had a long day, can’t wait to take these heels off.”
Ivan nodded suspiciously as he watched the doors close in front of him.
“I love her but she is strange girl.”
~~~~~~~~~`
It was almost eight o’clock before Liz decided to give up on Max calling and turned the bath water on.
She was just pulling her skirt down past her slender hips when she heard her phone ring.
Running through her apartment she struggled to get free of her skirt that was hanging off of one foot hoping that it was him.
“Hello?”
“Uhhh hello Liz… do you remember me?”
Pulling the phone away from her mouth she tried to catch her breath. Taking a deep breath she pulled her bottle of merlot from her cabinet and poured a glass.
”Vaguely but keep talking I think I’m starting to remember.”
All it took was her flirty tone to make his pulse race. He was amazed that just the sound of her voice could make him feel this way. He was slightly nervous a little excited even but most all happy.
The first few minutes were awkward as they exchanged pleasantries. It took a little time before they were back into the smooth effortless conversation that they had experienced last night.
After a several hours of discussing how they both came to the city they began to trade stories of past relationships.
They discovered that they had very similar experiences. Both had one serious relationship in college that ended when they relocated to the city.
After some disastrous blind dates and poorly judged short-term relationships they both had decided to concentrate on their careers instead of their love life’s.
“It’s just so hard with my work to meet anyone. I’m always either in my office hunched over blue prints or running around on the road from one job site to the other making sure everything is going smooth”
“Max I know exactly how you feel by the time I get home the last thing I feel like doing is getting myself fixed up and going to some bar.”
“You know when I think about it I know more about you then I know about the last three girls I’ve dated.”
“I know what you mean. Guys don’t usually open up about themselves till ...well with my experience never. It’s hard to get close to someone when the most you know about them is their bank account and what kind of car they drive.”
“So you’re looking …for a relationship I mean.”
Liz smiled as she leaned down to pet her cat Oscar.
“Well not actively but if someone special were to come along I wouldn’t mind.”
Liz couldn’t help hoping that maybe Max was this special person but it just seemed to be too perfect. Too good to be true.... hell girl you've only talked to him two times on the phone!
“I guess it would be nice to have someone to share my life with, I’m getting tired of dragging Kyle to events I know he rather skip.”
“Such as?”
“Well last week for instance I was invited to small gallery opening in SoHo. I took Kyle who ended up txting his buddies all night and hitting on the blonde waitresses. Don’t get me wrong I love Kyle to death, we’ve been best friends since we were kids and he’s great. But that boy doesn't have a sophisticated bone in his body.”
”I understand Liz I have to bribe my friend Maria into tagging along to countless dinner parties and fundraisers with me. I do that so I won't look like some type of dateless loser. She great about it …it’s just not –
“The same.”
“Yeah.”
He wanted to ask her out and take her to SoHo. He loved the cast iron architecture that lined Green Street. He wanted to take her everywhere …show her his world, but something was holding him back. It was all going so well …so perfect... too perfect.
Liz rolled to her side and tucked her long dark hair behind her ear loving the sound of his laugh.
“Max?”
“Yes.”
“What do you look like?”
He smiled as he blew the extra charcoal off the drawing that he had been carrying around with him all night. He couldn’t help working on it as they spoke from time to time, adding gentle stokes when she said something that hit him a certain way.
“Well I have dark hair and I guess hazel eyes, I’m not as clean cut as my father would like but my mom seems to think I’m pretty handsome. But I don't put much stock into that."
"Why not?"
"Well because don't all moms think their sons are good looking?”
Liz laughed as she turned over on her back and glanced out the window at the bright lights that flickered against the starless dark sky.
Softly she began to whisper something she had read in a magazine.
“The mother art is architecture. Without an architecture of our own we have no soul of our own civilization.”
“What?”
Liz squeezed her eyes shut in embarrassment. “I can’t believe I just said the out loud, it’s a quote from –
“Frank Lloyd Wright, I love that quote. I can’t believe you just said that.”
“It was just something that caught my eye in a magazine.”
“What magazine was that?”
“Architectural Digest…I was at the dentist today and I was ...interested I guess.”
Her voice grew quiet suddenly hearing the stroke of the charcoal on the paper.
“Are you working?”
“Not exactly I’m … well I’m drawing a portrait.”
“Oh …do you mind me asking of who?”
Max hesitated as he ran his fingers over her full lips.
He lowered his voice quietly hoping that he wouldn’t scare her off.
“You Liz.”
She could feel her body flush with heat knowing that the feelings she was having were definitely mutual.
“But you’ve never seen me.”
“Liz?”
“Yes?”
“Are you lying in bed?”
Liz bit her lip and looked over at the red digital numbers on her clock radio.
“It’s late Max-
“I can always tell when you’re lying down, your voice changes …becomes softer …you relax more. I can feel it.”
Liz reached between her thighs and went to her side as the ache she was feeling started to grow.
“Max.”
He swallowed a groan knowing that he would be going to bed painfully hard for the second night in a row.
“I really should go now, work and
“Everything.”
He repeated the words she spoke to him last night as he placed his notebook on his night stand directly where he could see it.
“Good night Liz.”
“So I’ll talk to you …
“Tomorrow night. Unless you have plans.”
Liz’s fingers disappeared under her panties as she whispered to him before hanging up.
“No plans.” If she had any she would have been sure to cancel them
“Then tomorrow.”
“Night Max.”
“Night Liz.”

Chapter 4
As Liz entered the brightly lit room in her usual workspace, her mind was focused on anything but her beloved job.
Sleep had turned into repeated lengthy dreams of a man she had never seen. They were always the same. She would find herself wandering threw Central Park alone at night along a path she had never been down before.
It was a secluded section of the park where on a normal occasion she would never had dared to venture during the evening hours.
The trees were adorn with tiny white lights and there was music floating through the air.
She was dressed in a silky white gown and her hair was flowing around her shoulders. It was spring and flowers covered the usual green grounds. The dogwoods were in full bloom giving the air a fragrant scent.
Then she would hear it, that voice, his husky low seductive voice whispering her name.
“Liz.”
Then she would feel him as he came up behind her, his strong hands sliding around her waist, his hard chest resting against her back.
Everything would become hazy as he lowered his head and whispered soft words into her ear. But much to her dismay, every time in her dreams when she would turn in the embrace to look up into his face for the first time Liz would suddenly find herself awoke from her dream and laying in bed ...very hot...and very sexually frustrated.
Ohhh she knew why this always happened, seeing how she has never seen Max's face she knew her dreaming subconscious could not create a face for him in her dream...hence she'd never get to see him in her dreams.... which was slowly screwing up her sleeping habits not to mention driving her insane.
The need to actually meet him face to face was becoming impossible to ignore.
The only problem was what if the reality didn’t live up to the dream. What if the connection, the heat she felt when she spoke to him was something that would be lost if they ever met and the face to face didn't live up to her hopes.
Yes a full peaceful night of sleep was now becoming increasingly difficult commodity for her to achieve.
Setting her coffee and purse down she walked over to her painting that she had been working on for several months and pulled off the cloak.
Her heart leaped as a new painting rested against the large wall. This wasn’t just any painting this was her dream painting. She had been practically begging Mr. Green to allow her to work on it but was always passed by for the more experienced restorers.
Sitting back in her chair in disbelief she breathed out the title of the romantic creation that she had fell in love so long ago.
“Venus and Cupid.”
Her body stiffened suddenly as she felt his shaky hands and smelled the alcoholic breath of her boss behind her.
“This is the one that held your eye… am I correct Ms. Parker?”
Cringing Liz shifted in an attempt to give Mr. Green the hint that she did not appreciate his hands massaging her shoulders. Apparently he either missed it altogether or didn’t care and continued to rub her letting his fingers dip into the collar of her blouse onto the bare skin of her neck.
Liz let out a nervous laugh as she slid off her chair and out of his hands.
“Mr. Green I don’t understand… I thought you said I wasn’t ready for something as complex as Lorenzo Lotto?”
Mr. Green narrowed his eyes and stepped closer to her clearly invading her personal space.
“Well Ms. Parker… I know how much this painting means to you. Maybe its time that I took a chance on you, let you spread your wings some.”
Liz began to shake anxiously as his hand began to smooth across her low back.
“I figure I do you a favour and maybe one day you can do something for me.”
Tears filled her eyes as he lowered his hand and brushed against her ass.
Liz quickly moved away from him and backed towards the door.
“Well I need to get some supplies, the colors I have are all wrong for this painting. I-I’ll talk to you later Mr. Green.”
`~~~~~~~
As she exited the cab she quickly brushed passed Ivan trying to hide the fact that she had been crying.
He was way too protective over her and she feared if she told him the truth about what had happened today he would definitely be paying a visit to her boss and beat him to a bloody pulp.
“Again in a rush my little one? I have some biscuit cream cake that my wife made for you.”
Liz did her best to stay composed as she took the Russian pastry and gave Ivan a polite smile.
“Please thank Natasha for me.”
She barely heard Ivan’s response as she jumped into the elevator. It wasn’t until she was safe in her apartment when she let her emotions spill over.
“God damn bastard!”
Liz pulled off her heels and sank into her couch.
She had worked so hard to be recognized as a professional in her field and in one short afternoon her purvey boss with a bad comb over made her feel insignificant.
She jumped with the phone began to rang as she tried hard to fight back her tears. She knew it was him and for a second she debated on whether she should answer it or not.
It wasn’t that she didn’t want to talk to him, on the contrary he was the only person she did want to talk to, but she wondered how he would handle her.
Kyle and Ivan had always been the only males in her life to actually listen to her and her problems. But sadly all of her past boyfriends were never interested in listening to her problems. She learned early on to watch how much she shared with men she was dating. She would often get responses such as “your too emotional” or “is it really worth crying over?” or the worse “is it that time of the month?”
She wanted so much for Max to be different.
Taking a deep breath she realized she would never find out if she didn’t take the chance.
On the fifth ring she answered the phone quickly hoping it wasn’t too late.
“Hello…Max?”
“Hey I was just about to give up on you…Liz are you ok?”
“Not really.”
Her shaky tearful voice hit him harder than he expected. Genuine concern filled his voice.
“Do you want to talk about it?”
“Well…
Her voice cracked in response still unsure of how much to divulge.
After rehashing the story in it entirety she closed her eyes and waited.
After a long silence he began to speak in a low calming voice.
“Liz can I ask you a question?”
“Sure.”
“This painting… how important is it to you?”
“It’s my dream … what I’ve been working towards for years.”
Just hearing his voice seem to calm her, she could tell that he was really taking her problem seriously, that he actually cared.
“Liz no matter what bullshit he’s trying to pull he wouldn’t have given you the assignment if he didn’t think you could do it.”
“That’s true.”
“You can’t let him shake your confidence. Think of how hard you’ve worked to get where you are. You deserve this. I know that you can handle this guy. You can’t let him win.”
Liz smiled knowing that he had been listening to her all his time when she talked about her career. That he had actually been paying attention… that he cared.
“You just have to be strong; don’t let him get away this. If he tries anything again just calmly tell him that his behaviour is inappropriate and not welcomed. If that doesn’t work tell him your going to report him for sexual harassment.”
“I could do that.”
“And if that doesn’t work I could always go down there and beat his ass.”
Liz began to laugh feeling the weight of the situation lift away from her.
“I’m not down playing what happened I hope you know that…. I just wanted to hear you laugh.”
Liz bit her bottom lip and smiled as the connection between them began to grow.
“I feel better now.”
“Well that was my intention.”
Time went by fast as they continued to talk. Everything from family to their preferences of New York’s take out was discussed.
As midnight approached Max could feel his workload starting to get the best of him.
Trying hard to hold back a yawn Max reluctantly ended their three-hour talk.
His husky voice caused her to close her eyes as she tried to picture him in her mind.
“I hate to go …it’s just that this damn project has me going in at six am. I can’t wait to get passed this deadline.”
Pulling the covers up to her chest Liz tried not to sound disappointed.
“I understand.”
“So are you?”
“I’ll be here… same time.”
“Ok …I’ll call you tomorrow than.”
“Night Max.”
“Night Liz.”

Liz tossed and turned late into the night with her reoccurring dream played through her mind.
She woke by a loud crash that sent her sitting up in bed terrified.
A severe thunderstorm had moved over the city during the night while she had been asleep.
Liz watched as the bright lightening flashed through her apartment in fear. She held her breath and closed her eyes as the thunder came crashing down all around her.
She waited as long as she could but the thunder was just too loud. She grabbed her phone off the nearby nightstand and started calling Kyle's number. Ever since they had been kids and later as adults he had always came down to her apartment to be with her whenever a bad storm blew in.
Liz knew she was being stupid and putting a lot on Kyle but he would never say a word about it, always coming up at any hour of the day or night and joking with her in efforts to make her feel better as the storm passed. It was one of the many reason's she loved her best friend so much.
But halfway through dialling Kyle's number she recalled something he told her earlier in the week.
"Tess is taking me up to Maine to meet her folks."
In her fright she had forgotten that her best friend was playing 'Meet The Parent's' and was now out of state.
She held her cell phone in her hands still hesitating but when another bolt of lightening flashed by her window and when the loud clap of thunder knocked out the power she called her other number knowing she had to hear his voice.
After about four rings it was picked up by a very sleepy voice
“Hello?”
“Max!”
The yell in his ear had Max instantly sitting up in his bed. Reaching over he attempted to turn the light on before realized he was without power.
“Liz is that you?”
“Yes, I’m sorry I woke you.”
"No no it's okay." Max yawned as he got out of bed sleepily made his way to his kitchen to get a drink. The flashes of lightening helped him a bit in navigating his apartment but as normal when a sleepy person walks barefooted in a dark house the inevitable happened
SMACK!!
“OW!!”
“Max are you ok?”
“Shit!" Max did a small one-legged hop/dance as he held his cell phone in one hand and his now throbbing foot in the other. After a second of hopping and mental cursing he put his foot back down on the ground and the phone up to his ear. "Yeah I’m fine just stubbed my toe on the coffee table, the powers out here I can’t see anything. Are you alight?”
Liz suddenly felt stupid being a grown adult afraid of thunderstorms but her fear was outweighing her embarrassment.
“Not really.”
Max drank down some orange juice out of the carton and sat on the couch smiling.
“Is it the storm?”
“Yes I guess you can say I had a bad experience as a child.”
Hearing the apprehension in her voice he kept her taking to keep her mind off the storm.
As another loud clap of thunder hit Max quickly spoke up.
“So tell me what happened to you … why are you afraid of storms.”

Hello everybody! Sorry this took a whole month to update my muse has been playing hide and seek on me hopefully he will stick around for awhile
Just in case anyone has forgotten Liz has just woken up Max in the middle of the night because she was very afraid of a bad thunderstorm that was raging outside.
One more thing, just in case anyone was wondering, KJ is an absolute joy to work with. His sense of humor and expertise of writing Kyle and Tess and life in a very realistic way is just amazing. Everyone I know just loves writing with him.
You also should know the thunderstorm idea came from him (which I love!) I took it and ran with it... the rest was all me so if it sucks I am the one to blame it was much harder to write than I imagined, I hope I made it work we shall see!
Chapter 5.
Liz closed her eyes and tried to concentrate on the sound of Max’s sweet voice as the storm raged all around her. Her shaky tone did little to convince him that she was ok.
Clearing her throat she attempted to sound composed but he could see right through her.
“Max it’s really kind of silly when I think of it now.”
Lowering his voice to soothe her he calmly encouraged her to continue.
“Apparently not if it still scares you. Liz you're not the only one with fears. I can’t stand spiders, If I see one I have to resist the urge to call an exterminator. You have nothing to be embarrassed about ...please tell me what happened to you.”
Seeing the flash of light outside her window Liz jumped back in bed and brought her knees up to her chest.
“It happened when I was six years old. My parents went away for the weekend and left me with my great Aunt Helen. She lived in this old big house at the bottom of a dead end street. In the middle of the night a big storm came in."
Liz hestitated and closed her eyes in an attempt to block the thunder out.
Hearing it on his end too he pushed her to keep going hoping it would distract her.
"So you were alone in a big scary house ...sounds like you had a reason to be frightened Liz, please go on."
"I remember the sound of the shudders banging against the house and the wind shaking the windows. I was terrified Max. I didn't know what to do, I pulled the blankets over my head and tried to wait for it to end but the storm went on for hours.”
He couldn’t help but smile picturing a little pig tailed Liz cowering under the covers.
“It was so loud Max, the thunder practically shook the house and flashes from the lightning made these huge dark shadows all over the walls. Being in a strange room all alone …I was so scared.”
Trying to keep her attention diverted Max continued with his questions.
“Did you go to her bedroom?”
“Well I didn’t know her very well and the house was pitch black, I was afraid to get out of bed. I think she was hard of hearing because she didn’t wake up at all. I know it sounds childish but everytime I'm alone during a bad thunderstorm I feel like that little six year old girl again.”
Max heard Liz gasp as a particular loud clap of thunder hit.
"Oh god I hate this Max! Please say something! Anything!"
He searched his mind frantically for anything to comfort her, he was totally unprepared for the subconscious words that fell from his lips.
“Liz have you ever thought of what it would be like if we kissed?”
Max shocked by his own words put his hand over his mouth and listened quietly wishing so bad he could take them back. Of course he had dreamed of kissing her, in fact that was mostly what filled his mind at night as he listened to her sweet voice, but this was certainly not the approach he intended on taking.
He wanted their romance to be spontaneous, to naturally develop.
The silence on the other end was deafening, he was sure he had just blown it with her. She was always talking about guys that moved too fast that expected too much too soon. They didn't even meet yet, what was she going to think of him now?
'Fuck! Fuck! Why did I say that?'
Running his hand threw his hair he winced and softly spoke hoping to savage his unintentional blunder.
“Liz…I-I’m sorry I -
“yes.”
Her voice was so low and soft he wasn't quite sure she even said it at all.
Still the possibility made his heart slam against his chest. Did she feel the same? Did she desire him as much as he did her?
“What?”
He needed to be sure he heard her right, that this wasn’t his mind playing tricks on him. Slowly he laid back on his bed and stared up at the dark ceiling.
Liz sat frozen with her arm still wrapped around her knees and her hand tightly gripping the phone.
She began to nervously bite her bottom lip realizing where this converstation might possible go.
The thunder outside was growing quiet but the rain was coming down in sheets outside her window.
She followed the drops as they slid one by one down the pane of glass. His shallow deep unsteady breaths were making her heart pound and her body flush with heat.
Was she really ready to admit how bad she wanted him ...how much she fantasized about him. Was she ready to take this to the next step. This was uncharted territory for her and it excited her in a way that nothing ever really had in her life.
Suddenly the thunder was a distance memory as her yearing to hear more from him overtook her fear.
Taking a deep breath she whispered seductively into the phone. “I think about it all the time.”
Max looked over at the sketch of her that was resting against his lamp. Her full lips were parted and wet, her voice and this image was all he needed to push him forward.
Liz felt a shiver run threw her body as his low deep tone echoed her feelings.
“So do I.”
Slowly she lowered her legs and turned to her side. Crazy thoughts were running wildly threw her head. It had been way too long since she had had sex, she blushed from the intensity of the urge to touch herself that was all at once too strong to ignore.
Max wasn’t doing much better.
He tried to push away the fantasies in his head of what he wanted to do to her. How he would touch her ...kiss her ...taste her.
Max tried to think of anything else besides having her.
Football, grandma’s brownies, his boss combing the four hairs on his head.
Then she let out a shaky breathless sigh and he was done.
There was no turning back now he was hard as a rock and painfully needed to either continue this or end it so he could satisfy his craving for her.
“Max?”
He rolled his eyes dying inside as her sexy surgery voice drifted over his body. He couldn’t remember when he wanted someone more in his life. Struggling to find his voice he answered her as he inched his boxers down his muscular thighs in attempt to relieve some pressure.
“Yeah.”
She licked her lips and tried to convince herself that what she was about to do was completely normal. No one could see her, he didn't have to know, besides it was perfectly natural at least that’s what Kyle told her during one of his many late night confessions of his growing relationship with Tess.
She held her hand over her heart feeling it's rapid beat and realized that at this point It really didn’t matter, she had gone too far already. The ache she was feeling was way too intense to stop now, it would just be too hard.
Staring up at the ceiling amazed that she was actually going to do this her lips parted as her fingers began to caress her breasts that spilled from her tank top.
She swallowed hard as her hand smoothed over her flushed skin. She needed to hear that sultry raspy voice of his again.
“So… you’ve thought of me?”
Suddenly feeling very hot Max lifted his shirt from his body and threw it across the room. This time his voice was anything but timid.
“Yes.”
A rush of desire ignited every part of her body as she held her breath and slowly caressed one breast then the other.
Her head fell back against the pillow as her nipples instantly hardened under her fingertips. All she could think about was his hands teasing her, exploring her, as she panted softly into the phone.
When she heard nothing on the other end she quickly removed her hand and became silent.
She worried for a moment that maybe this was just one sided. She flushed deep red thinking she could ruin everything with her run away hormones. She needed to be sure they were both on the same page. She shook her head not believing the chance she was taking.
“What do you think about Max?”
Max knew he was straddling a dangerous line. On one hand she could be just searching for how he felt about her. On the other hand she could be feeling the intensity of the moment like he was.
He knew he had to be very careful with his next few words, but the husky slow drawl of his voice was unmistakable. He wanted her...and it was something that couldn't wait.
“I think about …being with you.”
His hands roughly fisted the sheets as he tried to resist his growing impulses.
Her back arched as her fingers once again rolled over her hard peaks. His voice alone was enough for her to begin to feel her on coming bliss. More steadily now her breathing increased making it more difficult to hide what she was doing.
“Me too.”
He was locked on her drawing, her big brown eyes looked back at him pleading for him to pleasure her… to taste her.
Reality quickly began to blur with fantasy when he actually felt her soft curves under his fingertips.
This was getting too hard. He couldn’t force himself not to follow his needs any longer. He had to get off the phone before he embarrassed himself. He couldn't take the chance of being wrong, of reading too much into this, not with her.
“Liz …I really should go.”
Her hand lifted away from her body and her eyes opened wide. 'Oh god I was totally off …I can’t believe I almost .'
“Y-You want to go?”
His breathless answer told her all she needed to know.
“No…I don’t want to go, but If I don't go now -
“I think you should stay.”
Frustrated by his escalating need to experience this moment with her he took a chance.
“Liz I can't lie to you. I'm having certain... feelings for you right now. Feelings that are getting impossible to ignore."
Excitment ripped threw every inch of her. She grew wet with his passionate admission...she loved how much he wanted her.
“Max I've never ... this is all new to me. I just ...I'm not sure what to do. I mean I know what to do... just not ...
She held her hand over her blushing face. "Oh god this is coming out all wrong."
He could see how bad she was struggling and his desire grew even stronger for her if that were possible. He found her awkward confession so sexy it made him only want her more.
Normally he wouldn’t even entertain the thought of performing such a thing as phone sex but with her it was different.
He felt as if he already knew her intimately. He cared about her, that much he was sure of. Even though they hadn’t met feelings had definitely developed between them.
“Max you know I …care about you. I-I know that sounds strange, I mean considering the fact that we’ve never actually met and I don’t even know what you really look like... the truth is I don't care, I feel so close to you...like i could tell you anything."
"I feel the same way Liz."
"I somehow feel like I know you better than anyone I’ve ever dated before. I mean if you think about it the hours that we’ve talked, if you put them together would add up to at least ten dates and –
He smiled knowing she was nervous. He could tell she was trying to justify something that was already evident. This wasn’t casual, something real had developed between them and it needed to be addressed…physically.
“Liz it’s ok. I’m right there with you. I have feelings for you too. I’m not taking this lightly.”
She moved her blankets off to the side and sighed softly as she twirled a piece of her chocolate hair around her fingers.
“S-So what do we do now?”
Max shook his head wondering whether he should admit that he had never actually attempted anything like this before either.
“Liz …I’ve never done this…I mean on the phone…I’ve never…shit.”
“It's ok Max... it's kind of nice actually. Maybe we should just take it slow."
"Slow... right...ok that's good...good idea."
Together they nervously laughed but it wasn't long before the conversation turned heated once again.
"Liz...I need to picture you in my head ...can you tell me what you're wearing?"
She looked down at herself …her face was burning hot, she couldn’t believe what she was about to do. She also couldn’t deny that the forbidden side of this filled her with a thrill she had never known.
“I’m wearing a light blue tank top and panties...what about you?”
He cleared his throat as a clear picture developed in his mind, his husky voice answered. "Boxers."
"Oh."
She rubbed her thighs together hoping for some relief when she heard him whisper her name into the phone.
“Liz?”
Her fingers slowly skimmed the edge of her lacy panties as she answered him.
“Yeah.”
“Is it as hot where you are as it is here?”
“God yes.”
"Could...could you... take your top off?”
He worried that he was being too forward but every word he spoke seemed to make her more fervent pushing her further and further.
“Yeah I can…hold on.”
She put the phone on the bed and quickly took off her shirt. Just the sound of the material moving against the phone pushed him over the edge
Slowly he began stroking his painfully hard cock.
When she put her ear to the receiver she could hear his breathing. It had changed, it was more shallow… heavier.
Liz started to tremble as she laid back down, she knew what he was doing, she knew he was doing it because of her...that the fantasy of her was driving him on. it was the most erotic moment of her life.
“Liz close your eyes… imagine that I’m there with you …lying next to you.”
She licked her lips again this time marveling at how her whole body shivered in response to his simple words.
“S-so tell me…what would you do if you were here with me.”
He knew there was no stopping himself now but he wanted her to know she was still in control.
“Liz …are you sure you want to do this.”
“Please Max…don't stop now...please."
Max struggled to slow his movements down. He wanted to experience this with right along with her. He wanted it to be as real as possible. Clenching his jaw sweat trickled slowly over the ridges of his hard defined stomach as he worked to control his impending climax.
“I would lay over you …hovering just above you Liz. Can you feel me …can you feel me staring down at you.”
Liz closed her eyes and let her legs fall apart giving him the room to rest between them. She pictured his muscular arms caging her in on either side of her shoulders, his chest barely grazing her with every breath. His lustful eyes looking down at her intently, drinking her in, it was as if he was really there. She could smell him, feel him, almost taste him on the tip of her tongue.
Suddenly she breathed out harshly, “Yes I can...I can feel you here with me Max.”
“Liz dip your fingers inside your mouth, wet the tips.”
Her face flushed by his words, mouth wet …her heart began to race faster as she did what he asked.
“Run them down between your breasts pretend it’s my mouth Liz.”
“Max.”
The way she drew out his name in a quiet soft moan made him gasp sharply as he increased his speed.
“Liz… are you-
Her mouth fell open as she slipped her fingers under her panties and slowly began to circle her clit.
“Yes Max.”
Faster he drove his hand up and down quietly groaning as he listened to her closely.
“God Liz I wish I could taste you… I bet you taste so sweet.”
Liz turned her head to the side and squeezed her eyes shut as she pictured his dark head between her legs.
“Oh god...Max I can feel your lips your tongue...oh god."
“Yes Liz ...I'm there... buried inside you, licking you... so slowly ...you're so wet... I can't get enough. Your fingers are clenching my hair holding me there. I can feel the silky skin of your thighs brushing against my cheeks as you pull me in deeper. God LIz I never want to stop.”
His drawing of her became clear inside his mind as he ran his hands over her firm round breasts and gazed up at her from her dripping heat.
He watched as she arched her back and stared down at him threw her long dark eyelashes. He could feel the searing skin of her thighs as he held her down and continued to savor her exquisite essence.
The fantasy became too real for him as sweat continued to glisten off his muscular chest; his stomach tightened feeling the end nearing.
“Liz... talk to me.”
Breathlessly she skimmed her fingers over her nub again and again.
“I can feel you Max …I need...I need you inside me.”
“Yes Liz.”
His lips fell over her breast as he licked her slowly and drove swiftly inside her.
“Liz go inside …feel me there.”
The phone slowly slipped from her hand as her fingers dipped inside.
Loudly she moaned his name as she came harder than she ever had in her life.
Max let go as soon as he heard her cry out. His head fell back against the pillow as his body shuddered from the most powerful orgasm of his life.
The experience was like nothing he had ever had. She left him dizzy, drunk his head spinning. His mind raced with the wonders of what it would actually be like to really make love to her.
“Liz?”
He could hear her slowly coming down her breath returning to a somewhat normal pace.
“Hey.”
“That was…
“Yeah …I know.”
“Liz?”
“Yes?”
“We have to meet.”
She hesitated for a moment wondering if all the passion and fire would be there when they saw each other face to face.
One thing was sure she had to find out.

Chapter 6
"Hey how about this one?!"
Liz looked up from where she sat on the side of her best friend's bed to see his head.... not to mention the shirt he was holding with one hand.... dangling out of his closet door.
"No" Liz quickly shook her head at the purple monstrosity that Kyle was waving back and forth at her.
Kyle looked down at the shirt before looking back at Liz with a puzzled expression on his face.
"Why...what's wrong with it?"
"It's purple," said Liz, as if that explained it all, but to poor Kyle it hadn't.
"Yeah so? What's wrong with purple? It's my favourite color."
"No man should wear purple as a color unless he is a singer and goes by the name of Prince." said Liz "Look go get that blue shirt I got you from Macy's last year. It goes good with your eyes and you look good in it."
"Wear no purple, unless your Prince, blue shirt, looks good with my eyes.... got it!" nodded Kyle as he quickly ducked back into his large walk in closet to do Liz's bidding.
"And Kyle for god's sake THIS time make sure your belt matches your shoes!" Liz quickly yelled at her friend and sighed as she got a loud 'okay!' for a reply.
A few seconds later Kyle came walking quickly out of the closet with matching belt and shoes and with a nice blue dress shirt dangling from his fingers.
"Got it! One blue shirt as command Oh Wise One!"
"God it's like you're my Jedi Master of clothing and I'm your lowly Padawan to be trained!" smiled Kyle as he removed the shirt from the hanger and started to put it on over the undershirt he was wearing. He got it halfway on before...........
"Kyle?" coughed Liz
"Yeah?"
"Aren't you going to iron it?"
Once again a puzzled Kyle looked back and forth between Liz and a shirt in his hand.
"Uhhh.... iron it?"
”MEN!” Liz sighed.
"Yes you know an iron! That big heavy thing that gets hot and takes wrinkles out of clothes when you run it over said clothes."
"Ohhh yeah an iron!" Kyle scratched the back of his head for a second " I THINK I got one of those around here some where" Kyle disappeared back into his closet and Liz had to watch out for the shoes that came flying out of Kyle's closet as he hunted for the elusive iron.
"Got it!"
Kyle came out of the closet holding the dusty iron up over his head as proud as if he was a great white hunter bringing in dinner for the tribe.
"No I'll do this," Liz took the shirt and iron from Kyle and pushed him toward the bathroom "You go brush your teeth and finish getting ready."
Putting the shirt down on a hard surface Liz went to town on the shirt making it look nice. As she worked she could hear the water running in the bathroom as Kyle brushed his teeth.
"Liz?"
"Yes?"
"We’ve known each other forever right?"
"Back before we had our first pimples."
"Well you know I can read you like a book and can tell when you're hiding something." This time when Liz didn't answer back Kyle spit in the sink and continued "I mean you know you can tell me anything, right?”
Once again Liz didn't say anything back in return. Getting a tad impatient with her silence Kyle looked down at his watch and sighed.
“Ok Liz enough is enough she’s going to be here any minute, so just spit it out. How bad can it be?”
Kyle stood over the sink and began to brush his teeth waiting for her inevitable confession. He knew eventually Liz would spill the big news to him, she could never keep anything from him… and he could always tell when she was trying.
“You’re going to judge me." Liz stepped into the bathroom holding Kyle's freshly pressed shirt in a death grip” You’re not going to understand.”
Spitting into the sink for the last time Kyle used the nearby towel to wipe his mouth and hands off before turning to look at Liz with what he hopped was a innocent look on his face.
"When have I ever judged you?"
"Remember when I was sixteen and lost my virginity to Robert LaCava? And the way you laughed your ass of the next day when I told you about it?" Liz narrowed her eyes at Kyle as in a 'I dare you to deny it' look.
"Yeah but I couldn't help it that time," Kyle whined a tad "He had a mullet!"
"You asked me did I bonk a long lost relative of Billy Ray Cyrus?!"
"Well like I said he had a mullet...okay okay I'm sorry!" Kyle quickly amended when Liz threw his shirt at his head and stomped out of the bathroom. He had to do some quick stepping to catch her before she made it out of the bedroom.
"Look Liz I'm serious this time! You can tell me anything."
Liz turned to give her best friend a look.
"No judging?"
"Nope no judging." Kyle shook his head.
Liz took a deep breath before finally thinking the hell with it and spitting it out.
"I had phone sex with Max!"
When Kyle just stood there looking at her, not making a sound Liz stepped closer to him.
"Kyle?"
Shaking his head for a second a big grin suddenly broke out on Kyle's face.” that's a good one Liz! You almost had me there with that one! You having phone sex...with a complete stranger.... hahahaha."
"It's true Kyle."
Kyle was speechless for a second...and for him that was something big! But only after a few seconds he exploded.
“Are you out of your friggin mind! You don’t even know this guy! Obviously he doesn’t respect you if he’s friggin jerking off to you on the phone before you’ve even had your first kiss! Jesus Liz even I wouldn’t pull a stunt like that!”
“Are you finished now?”
"Am I finished now?! Finished she ask?" Throwing his hands up in the air Kyle began pacing his apartment. He made two laps back and forth before once again stopping in front of Liz.
“Really Liz what were you thinking.”
Taking a deep breath Liz walked to the window and looked out at the people below secretly wondering if one of them could be him.
“I’m thinking that I have feelings for him and that I trust him and that you of all people should know that I would never have done something like that unless I felt it was right. It wasn’t like one of those trashy nine hundred numbers Kyle… it was beautiful …actually it was the best sex I’ve ever had.”
Still confused Kyle softy muttered.
“But you like all that romantic crap.”
“ In a strange way it was romantic…Kyle it was amazing …he was amazing. And now we're talking about meeting each other.” Liz turned from her viewing of the passing people to give Kyle a serious look "And let's not forget you promised not to judge me."
Dropping his head in shame Kyle nodded "You're right I did promise and I blew it."
Smiling Liz went over to wrap her best friend up in a hug.
"It's okay Kyle I still love you...even if you are a big doofus."
Laughing Kyle hugged Liz closer "I love you too Liz. And all I can ask now about this phone sex is this? Did you use protection, missy?"
"KYLE?!"
"What?" a smirk spread across Kyle's face "Hey ear infections can get nasty."
Liz playfully punched Kyle in the stomach making him wheeze. But when a quiet knock came to the door Kyle rushed to it momentarily forgetting all about Liz standing there. Throwing the door open he found Tess standing there quickly took her into his arms.
His eyes lit up, as he looked over her outfit that was showing off her curvaceous assets.
“You really look …very hot,”
"Kyle!"
“What?” Kyle looked back and forth between Tess and Liz who had just shouted at him. Suddenly as if a light bulb had appeared over his head Kyle understood why Liz had yelled at him "Ohhh! This is one of those times where I should have said she looked beautiful or gorgeous but not hot right?"
"Yes" sighed Liz "I've told you that over and over.... if I had a newspaper right now I'd roll it up and smack you with it."
"You guys are so funny," giggled Tess.
Liz held out her hand to Tess and introduced herself.
“Its’ so nice to meet you Liz, Kyle has told me so much about you I feel like I Know you already.”
Liz narrowed her eyes at Kyle and sighed.
“Don’t believe a word.”
Very seriously Kyle grabbed Liz by the shoulders and sat her down on the couch wanting to get back to this whole meeting Max thing.
“Look Liz you don’t really know this guy, all you know is what he’s told you. He could be a friggin serial killer or some kind of psycho!”
Patting him on the knee sarcastically Liz spoke to him as if he were insane.
“Sweetie he’s not a serial killer.”
Standing up quickly Kyle scowled at her.
“You know I hate it when you do that!”
Slowly Tess stood between them.
“Wait I have an idea, why don’t we go with you? Where are you meeting him?”
Hesitantly Liz answered her frightened of where she was going with this proposal.
“The diner across the street.”
Tess took Kyle’s hand and nodded her head encouraging him to go along with her plan.
“Perfect! We could sit in the corner, he’ll never know we’re there, you’ll be totally safe!”
Kyle seemed to soften as Tess wrapped his arm around her waist and nuzzled close to him.
“I guess that’s ok with me… what do you think Liz?”
Wavering for a minute Liz walked up to him and put her finger firmly against his chest.
“Only if you promise to keep quiet and keep sitting at YOUR table. If he finds out that you’re spying on us…
Tess moved closer to him and rubbed his back.
“No worries Liz, I’ll make sure he behaves. You won’t even know we’re there.”
3 hours later
“Oh my god …this is all wrong I look like a hooker! Shit!”
Tess watched quietly as Liz threw yet another outfit on the floor.
“Why did I say coffee? What do you wear for coffee?”
Suddenly Kyle’s voice could be heard over ESPN’s sportsenter.
“I don’t mean to make you crazier then you already are but if we don’t leave now Mr. Wonderful is going to think you stood him up.”
Looking at her watch Liz swore as she looked helplessly as Tess for help.
Getting the hint Tess walked calmly over to her closet and pulled out a low cut but classy black top and a pair of her dark jeans.
“Put this on with those heels, it’s causal, hot but classy at the same time. He’ll be drooling trust me.”
After quickly dressing Liz fixed her makeup before turned thankfully towards Tess.
“I’m really happy you’re dating my best friend. He’s a good guy, despite what you’ve witnessed… and he’d kill me if knew I told you this but he really likes you.”
Tess smiled widely before looking down at her watch.
“Liz we have to go!”
Yankee diner 8 pm
Firmly grasping the door Liz concentrated on trying to make her hands stop shaking.
This was it, the moment was here, she was finally going to see him for the first time.
A million thoughts rushed through her head at once.
What if he wasn’t attracted to her, what if they had nothing to talk about. What if the romance of how they met disastrously disappeared when they were faced with the reality of actually being together?
Taking a deep breath she slowly opened the door taking a little comfort in knowing that Kyle and Tess were inside tucked away in a back booth. She knew her best friend would rescue her if it were absolutely necessary.
As calmly as she could she raised her head and scanned the row of stools at the counter where he said he would be waiting for her.
His hands were the first things she saw, he was nervously stirring his coffee way too fast before suddenly stopping.
As if sensing that she was standing behind him he lowered his spoon carefully setting it on the napkin and slowly turned to face her.
They locked eyes and for a second time stopped. All the noise surrounding them seemed to disappear.
The sound of the packed diner full of orders being yelled back and forth from the waitress and the short order cook and the indiscernible chatter of everyone around them went silent.
All they could hear was the sound of their beating hearts and the shaky short breaths coming from their parted lips.
They saw no one but each other. It was as if no one else in the world existed, mysteriously faded away by their hearts that only for that split second recognized each other.
Max found his courage first by clearing his throat and softly saying her name.
“Liz?”
Hearing that low deep sultry voice coming not from a phone but from a real live person sitting right in front of her floored her.
It wasn’t that he was extremely handsome, which he was, or that he far exceeded her expectations with his sweet warm smile or that she had never in her life seen that particular shade of color in his eyes that could only be compared to golden honey with a tint of fire that immediately melted her heart not to mention other parts of her trembling body.
No it was that it was him.
It was Max.
Her Max.
Everything that she had been dreaming about since their first conversation was crystallized into this moment, this indescribable perfect moment where he became real.
And for Max seeing her standing there with the lights of the city behind her encasing her in a shimmer of pure white light left him breathless.
Only one thought came to mind.
His sketch had come to life.
The woman that he had created from just the sound of her sweet and alluring sexy voice was more than pencil and paper, more than an image that against all his prayers and tremendous will could only stare back at him…lifeless and still.
No she was very much real.
Flesh and bone.
An enchanting vision of beauty with creamy white skin that he was sure tasted like sugary vanilla cream and wavy raven hair that whisked across her lightly glossed lips that he already ached desperately to kiss.
He questioned to himself if this was really real or an incredibly cruel joke that god had played on him.
Surely nothing could feel so right so …perfect.
He needed to hear that voice again, the voice that set fire to his body more than several occasions and made his heart literally skip a beat.
He saw the flicker of her long dark eyelashes flirtatiously rise and fall as he spoke her name but he heard nothing. Again he posed the question he already knew the answer to.
“Liz? Are you …Liz?”
This time he was rewarded by a barely audible ‘yes’ as she willed her feet to move closer.
“Good lord look at her!"
Tess looked over at Kyle and had to bite her tongue to keep from laughing at him. He was sitting there with his menu pulled up covering most of his face, with the exception of his eyes that were staring out over the top of the menu as if from a bad spy movie. All he needed was a fedora hat, a trench coat and a pair of cheap sunglasses and the look would be complete.
"She’s like a deer in headlights! Look at him! He looks like a…a ..
Tess flashed her bright blue eyes up at Kyle and placed her hand over his immediately capturing his attention.
“Like a man in love?”
"LOVE?! Who said anything about love!"
Tess shushed Kyle and scooted closer to him when his outburst turned a few eyes toward them. She started giggling as he nuzzled her neck, she hadn't worn that perfume he seemed to like so much for nothing! After slowly moving up her neck he whispered in her ear.
“You know you really do look beautiful tonight.”
He gasped in surprised as she turned suddenly and seized his lips.
This was not their first kiss but it was as far as they had gotten and that detail was not lost to Kyle as he pulled her in closer. Their tongues battling for dominance with no real loser in the end.
The fact that Tess was kissing him, the smell of her perfume not to mention the fact she had her fit body pressed against him had Kyle's blood running in a more southerly direction away from his brain. So much that he forgot the main reason he was here, watching out after Liz, so there for he missed it when she and Max got up from their table and headed for the door.
As his eyes finally drifted open distracted by a particularly loud child wining near them for ice cream Kyle suddenly pulled away from the kiss and noticed...
“She’s gone!”
Still lost in a dreamy state Tess brushed her blonde locks away from her eyes and looked up at two empty stools.
“They left! She’s gone! Damn it! I was supposed to watch out for her.”
Calmly Tess lifted his chin turning his face towards her.
“Kyle Liz seems like a very intelligent strong willed independent woman. I think she can take care of herself.”
He looked back at the deserted seats then into the deep blue of Tess’ eyes and sighed.
“I guess. She’s got her cell. I guess she’ll call if she needs me.”
Giving him a demure smile she nodded.
“Why don’t we head back to your place, we could leave a note on her door to call you when she gets home. That way you’ll know she’s home safe. We could hang out at your apartment if you like. I could stay the night…that is if you don’t mind.”
With each obvious rise and fall of her voice Kyle felt his mouth run dry. Never did a girl ever make him nervous …that is until now.
“Do I mind? No I wouldn’t mind.... no sir not at all!!....uhhhmm check please!!”
~~~~~~~
As they walked down the crowed streets of Manhattan Max couldn’t help but take her hand in his.
Their eyes gazed quickly down at their fingers that slowly laced together.
The first touch was electrifying stunning them both.
Unsure if he had made the right move he looked up into her eyes and was greeted with a shy smile.
“So are you going to tell me where we’re going?”
Completely captured by her in every way he slowly replied while staring hopelessly at her bottom lip as she drew it in to nibble on it nervously.
“It’s a surprise.”
Chapter 6
"Hey how about this one?!"
Liz looked up from where she sat on the side of her best friend's bed to see his head.... not to mention the shirt he was holding with one hand.... dangling out of his closet door.
"No" Liz quickly shook her head at the purple monstrosity that Kyle was waving back and forth at her.
Kyle looked down at the shirt before looking back at Liz with a puzzled expression on his face.
"Why...what's wrong with it?"
"It's purple," said Liz, as if that explained it all, but to poor Kyle it hadn't.
"Yeah so? What's wrong with purple? It's my favourite color."
"No man should wear purple as a color unless he is a singer and goes by the name of Prince." said Liz "Look go get that blue shirt I got you from Macy's last year. It goes good with your eyes and you look good in it."
"Wear no purple, unless your Prince, blue shirt, looks good with my eyes.... got it!" nodded Kyle as he quickly ducked back into his large walk in closet to do Liz's bidding.
"And Kyle for god's sake THIS time make sure your belt matches your shoes!" Liz quickly yelled at her friend and sighed as she got a loud 'okay!' for a reply.
A few seconds later Kyle came walking quickly out of the closet with matching belt and shoes and with a nice blue dress shirt dangling from his fingers.
"Got it! One blue shirt as command Oh Wise One!"
"God it's like you're my Jedi Master of clothing and I'm your lowly Padawan to be trained!" smiled Kyle as he removed the shirt from the hanger and started to put it on over the undershirt he was wearing. He got it halfway on before...........
"Kyle?" coughed Liz
"Yeah?"
"Aren't you going to iron it?"
Once again a puzzled Kyle looked back and forth between Liz and a shirt in his hand.
"Uhhh.... iron it?"
”MEN!” Liz sighed.
"Yes you know an iron! That big heavy thing that gets hot and takes wrinkles out of clothes when you run it over said clothes."
"Ohhh yeah an iron!" Kyle scratched the back of his head for a second " I THINK I got one of those around here some where" Kyle disappeared back into his closet and Liz had to watch out for the shoes that came flying out of Kyle's closet as he hunted for the elusive iron.
"Got it!"
Kyle came out of the closet holding the dusty iron up over his head as proud as if he was a great white hunter bringing in dinner for the tribe.
"No I'll do this," Liz took the shirt and iron from Kyle and pushed him toward the bathroom "You go brush your teeth and finish getting ready."
Putting the shirt down on a hard surface Liz went to town on the shirt making it look nice. As she worked she could hear the water running in the bathroom as Kyle brushed his teeth.
"Liz?"
"Yes?"
"We’ve known each other forever right?"
"Back before we had our first pimples."
"Well you know I can read you like a book and can tell when you're hiding something." This time when Liz didn't answer back Kyle spit in the sink and continued "I mean you know you can tell me anything, right?”
Once again Liz didn't say anything back in return. Getting a tad impatient with her silence Kyle looked down at his watch and sighed.
“Ok Liz enough is enough she’s going to be here any minute, so just spit it out. How bad can it be?”
Kyle stood over the sink and began to brush his teeth waiting for her inevitable confession. He knew eventually Liz would spill the big news to him, she could never keep anything from him… and he could always tell when she was trying.
“You’re going to judge me." Liz stepped into the bathroom holding Kyle's freshly pressed shirt in a death grip” You’re not going to understand.”
Spitting into the sink for the last time Kyle used the nearby towel to wipe his mouth and hands off before turning to look at Liz with what he hopped was a innocent look on his face.
"When have I ever judged you?"
"Remember when I was sixteen and lost my virginity to Robert LaCava? And the way you laughed your ass of the next day when I told you about it?" Liz narrowed her eyes at Kyle as in a 'I dare you to deny it' look.
"Yeah but I couldn't help it that time," Kyle whined a tad "He had a mullet!"
"You asked me did I bonk a long lost relative of Billy Ray Cyrus?!"
"Well like I said he had a mullet...okay okay I'm sorry!" Kyle quickly amended when Liz threw his shirt at his head and stomped out of the bathroom. He had to do some quick stepping to catch her before she made it out of the bedroom.
"Look Liz I'm serious this time! You can tell me anything."
Liz turned to give her best friend a look.
"No judging?"
"Nope no judging." Kyle shook his head.
Liz took a deep breath before finally thinking the hell with it and spitting it out.
"I had phone sex with Max!"
When Kyle just stood there looking at her, not making a sound Liz stepped closer to him.
"Kyle?"
Shaking his head for a second a big grin suddenly broke out on Kyle's face.” that's a good one Liz! You almost had me there with that one! You having phone sex...with a complete stranger.... hahahaha."
"It's true Kyle."
Kyle was speechless for a second...and for him that was something big! But only after a few seconds he exploded.
“Are you out of your friggin mind! You don’t even know this guy! Obviously he doesn’t respect you if he’s friggin jerking off to you on the phone before you’ve even had your first kiss! Jesus Liz even I wouldn’t pull a stunt like that!”
“Are you finished now?”
"Am I finished now?! Finished she ask?" Throwing his hands up in the air Kyle began pacing his apartment. He made two laps back and forth before once again stopping in front of Liz.
“Really Liz what were you thinking.”
Taking a deep breath Liz walked to the window and looked out at the people below secretly wondering if one of them could be him.
“I’m thinking that I have feelings for him and that I trust him and that you of all people should know that I would never have done something like that unless I felt it was right. It wasn’t like one of those trashy nine hundred numbers Kyle… it was beautiful …actually it was the best sex I’ve ever had.”
Still confused Kyle softy muttered.
“But you like all that romantic crap.”
“ In a strange way it was romantic…Kyle it was amazing …he was amazing. And now we're talking about meeting each other.” Liz turned from her viewing of the passing people to give Kyle a serious look "And let's not forget you promised not to judge me."
Dropping his head in shame Kyle nodded "You're right I did promise and I blew it."
Smiling Liz went over to wrap her best friend up in a hug.
"It's okay Kyle I still love you...even if you are a big doofus."
Laughing Kyle hugged Liz closer "I love you too Liz. And all I can ask now about this phone sex is this? Did you use protection, missy?"
"KYLE?!"
"What?" a smirk spread across Kyle's face "Hey ear infections can get nasty."
Liz playfully punched Kyle in the stomach making him wheeze. But when a quiet knock came to the door Kyle rushed to it momentarily forgetting all about Liz standing there. Throwing the door open he found Tess standing there quickly took her into his arms.
His eyes lit up, as he looked over her outfit that was showing off her curvaceous assets.
“You really look …very hot,”
"Kyle!"
“What?” Kyle looked back and forth between Tess and Liz who had just shouted at him. Suddenly as if a light bulb had appeared over his head Kyle understood why Liz had yelled at him "Ohhh! This is one of those times where I should have said she looked beautiful or gorgeous but not hot right?"
"Yes" sighed Liz "I've told you that over and over.... if I had a newspaper right now I'd roll it up and smack you with it."
"You guys are so funny," giggled Tess.
Liz held out her hand to Tess and introduced herself.
“Its’ so nice to meet you Liz, Kyle has told me so much about you I feel like I Know you already.”
Liz narrowed her eyes at Kyle and sighed.
“Don’t believe a word.”
Very seriously Kyle grabbed Liz by the shoulders and sat her down on the couch wanting to get back to this whole meeting Max thing.
“Look Liz you don’t really know this guy, all you know is what he’s told you. He could be a friggin serial killer or some kind of psycho!”
Patting him on the knee sarcastically Liz spoke to him as if he were insane.
“Sweetie he’s not a serial killer.”
Standing up quickly Kyle scowled at her.
“You know I hate it when you do that!”
Slowly Tess stood between them.
“Wait I have an idea, why don’t we go with you? Where are you meeting him?”
Hesitantly Liz answered her frightened of where she was going with this proposal.
“The diner across the street.”
Tess took Kyle’s hand and nodded her head encouraging him to go along with her plan.
“Perfect! We could sit in the corner, he’ll never know we’re there, you’ll be totally safe!”
Kyle seemed to soften as Tess wrapped his arm around her waist and nuzzled close to him.
“I guess that’s ok with me… what do you think Liz?”
Wavering for a minute Liz walked up to him and put her finger firmly against his chest.
“Only if you promise to keep quiet and keep sitting at YOUR table. If he finds out that you’re spying on us…
Tess moved closer to him and rubbed his back.
“No worries Liz, I’ll make sure he behaves. You won’t even know we’re there.”
3 hours later
“Oh my god …this is all wrong I look like a hooker! Shit!”
Tess watched quietly as Liz threw yet another outfit on the floor.
“Why did I say coffee? What do you wear for coffee?”
Suddenly Kyle’s voice could be heard over ESPN’s sportsenter.
“I don’t mean to make you crazier then you already are but if we don’t leave now Mr. Wonderful is going to think you stood him up.”
Looking at her watch Liz swore as she looked helplessly as Tess for help.
Getting the hint Tess walked calmly over to her closet and pulled out a low cut but classy black top and a pair of her dark jeans.
“Put this on with those heels, it’s causal, hot but classy at the same time. He’ll be drooling trust me.”
After quickly dressing Liz fixed her makeup before turned thankfully towards Tess.
“I’m really happy you’re dating my best friend. He’s a good guy, despite what you’ve witnessed… and he’d kill me if knew I told you this but he really likes you.”
Chapter 7.
As the chilly breeze blew against them both neither of them felt the slightest bit cold.
The thrill of actually being together touching skin, had spread a certain warmth threw them both that was both exhilarating and arousing.
No matter how hard they tried they couldn’t ignore the sexual path they had taken the night before.
With each stolen glance they were perpetually reminded of the heated sensual words that were passed back and forth while they imagined they were making love to each other.
It was like the elephant in the room you tried desperately to ignore but found impossible to avoid.
They were both stricken with how odd it was that they were finally together. For some reason they believed that this was an unattainable dream, too perfect to be real.
It was a surreal moment for them both; you could feel the electricity in the air as they walked hand in hand down the bustling streets of the City.
As they turned into a narrow one-way street Liz began to notice more and more trees taking the place of the buildings that lined the sidewalk.
As they approached two bulky tall bushes Max suddenly stopped.
A shy smile raised his lips as he motioned to an archway made out of wrought iron that connected the giant curved shaped shrubs.
“We’re here.”
Her breath literally caught in her throat from the husky tone drifting from his full perfect shaped lips.
Liz looked all around but could see no buildings only a glowing light emulating between the branches that were interweaved into the gate.
“Do you trust me?”
An enticing sparkle of anticipation glowed within his brandy color eyes as he lifted the lever and opened the entry almost daring her.
Taking a deep breath Liz walked from the sidewalk that magically turned into a cobblestone narrow pathway.
Hearing the clang of the iron latch closing behind them she turned to find herself face to face with his hard muscular chest.
Resting her hands on his sweater she could feel the well-developed body that was hiding behind his clothes.
He placed his arm around her shoulder and led her around the tapered corner towards the radiant mysterious lights.
Liz raised her hand to her mouth in wonder as she slowly took in her surroundings.
It was the most beautiful place she had ever seen. It looked as if it had been taken out of the pages of a fairy tale.
The cobblestone path expanded into a large circle that was illuminated by thousands of tiny white lights that seemed to be suspended in air all around them resembling sparkling bright stars.
In the center of the circle was a small intimate marble table with two chairs that looked hand made with swirling patterns that resembled cherubs and ivy delicately sculpted into obvious works of art.
In the middle of the table was a singe white rose in a slender crystal vase with several glowing white votive candles twinkling against the dark night sky.
Softly in the background she could hear Strauss, one of her favorites playing in the background.
Leaving her hand he pulled out her chair and motioned for her to sit.
“Are you hungry?”
“I think I’m speechless.”
A relieved expression covered his face as he joined her at their romantic table for two.
Liz grazed her fingers over the white linen napkin and expensive silverware in awe.
“How did you? I mean we made this date …last night.”
Her voice trailed off as she completed those last two words feeling a deep red blush rush across her cheeks.
He then reached across the table and took her hand caressing her soft skin with his fingers.
“Liz I want you to know that last night…what we did. What happened between us…meant something very special to me, I didn’t plan for us to …connect that way. I wanted it to be special and romantic. I wanted to make love to you but I’m ashamed to say I couldn’t control myself. I had dreamed of being with you so often that hearing your voice…knowing you were lying there in bed …I just …I couldn’t”
He looked down at the ground embarrassed by his admission when he felt a tug on his hand.
“Max I was there too. It was as much my decision as it was yours. I wanted to be with you and somehow at that moment knowing that I was able to make you feel that way by just my voice …by just the closeness that we’ve shared by our conversations. I don’t know it was very…. erotic. I’ve never felt as close to anyone in that moment than I felt with you and you weren’t physically there. I think that means something.”
“But Liz-
“Max to me you were there, your hands were the ones touching me, caressing me bringing me to the point of …
Loosing her courage Max coughed and nodded looked directly into her eyes.
The heat between them was undeniable.
Inside they both were dying to see feel and touch each other for real.
Liz did her best to hold back not wanting Max to get the wrong idea and Max wanted to be a gentleman to show her he was interested in more than just being physical.
“It felt the same to me. I just wanted you to know that you are very special to me and you deserve the fairytale and everything that comes with it.”
Looking around at the beautiful romantic garden he had created for her Liz smiled brightly back at him.
“Did you do all this?”
Laughing out loud Max leaned back and ran his fingers over the marble table.
“No, this is not my field of expertise. My friend Danny specializes in Architectural Gardens, he owed me a favor. He spent all day designing this for me and his wife who happens to be an amazing chef put together a magnificent meal for us.”
Wide-eyed Liz sighed as she gently touched the pointed leaves that cascaded close to her arm.
“Wow, he must’ve owed you some favor to do all this.”
Suddenly a deep voice came out of the darkness with two silver trays bouncing happily towards them.
“Yes it was quite a favor, he introduced me to my wife Gloria. So basically I’ll do whatever he asks whenever he asks. She’s quite a catch and the love of my life you see.”
“Liz I’d like you to meet Danny.”
After placing the food on the table Danny gently kissed the back of her hand.
“It is a pleasure to meet you Liz, you should know that my wife prepared this food and she is devastated that she is missing this moment but the restaurant cannot function without her.”
“Restaurant?”
“Oh yes she owns a Restaurant tin Soho called Feast of Love. Max must take you there some night; you will be our special guests. My Gloria would love to meet you!”
Looking lovingly at Liz with a hopeful gleam in his eyes that there would be a second date he smiled.
“Great idea Danny, I’d love to show Liz your place.”
Liz nodded enthusiastically. “I’d love to see it.”
Danny pointed at the china on the table and described the meal in detail before bowing and stepping back.
“Please thank your wife for me Danny, and you did a beautiful job this place is truly breathtaking.”
Danny smiled and glanced at Max giving him a quick wink.
“Well it’s not every day our Max falls in love.”
Clearing his throat Max kicked Danny under the table causing him to quickly excuse himself.
“I have to apologize for him he’s Italian so believes it’s his mission to say whatever crosses his mind, he calls it being passionate. I on the other hand have another word for it.”
Laughing Danny took this as hint to disappear.
Liz giggled as she laid her napkin on her lap.
Max poured the red wine that was sitting by the glasses and toasted to her.
They were both glowing caught up in the moment. The food the surroundings the wine but especially the company was more than perfect, more than they could’ve both hoped for.
The conversation flowed easily as they dined and flirted endlessly with each other, and before they knew it more then three hours had gone by.
Everything was perfect until Liz realized something that she had completely forgotten about.
“Oh my god, Kyle! I left without telling Kyle! He must be a wreck!”
~~~~~~~~~
From her spot on the sofa Tess watched as Kyle burnt a line in the carpet with his incessant pacing and muttering.
"Where the hell are they at...should have been home hours ago....I swear if he did anything bad to her...or did anything at all to her.... I'll beat him till his own mother can't..."
Tess rolled her eyes at that. At first when she had become serious over Kyle she had been a tiny bit jealous of the hold Liz had on him. But over time and after hearing so many stories from Kyle about his and Liz's youth together she had come to realise just how brotherly and sisterly the pair were.
So she slowly lost her jealousy and began to see Kyle's over protectiveness as something cute. But now she was finding it quite.... annoying.
Knowing how to put a stop to it Tess gently crossed one leg over her other, let the hem of her dress ride up a bit on her thigh and slowly started swaying her top leg back and forth to the side as if she was keeping beat with music..
“Oh Kyle?"
Glancing over at Tess Kyle stopped in mid step as he tilted his head to the side hypnotized by her swaying leg. It was all nice and firm.... and just begging to be touched. Or at least he was begging to touch it.
He was captivated by her ivory skinned thighs and her foot with it's high heel shoe that was dangling off as it went back and forth.... well it was just too distracting for words.
Hesitating for a moment he stopped and dragged his line of vision back up to her face.
“I’m being a rude host. Would you like a drink or something?”
A seductive smile covered her face as she patted the spot next to her on the couch and uncrossed and crossed her legs again.
“Or something sounds good.”
It took a moment for Kyle to actually make the connection from his ears to his brain what was happening...lack of blood flow to the brain will do that to a fellow.
“Right.”
Something was wrong he was actually nervous.
Shaking his head he tried to get himself back in the game.
“Pull it together man.”
He couldn’t understand what was going on. He had been with possibly hundreds of girls.
Sex was a sport like any other he excelled at. So why the sweaty palms, why was his heart racing?
Slowly he made his way over to her and sat beside her amazed by how ironic this was.
She was fine, completely in control. Calm as a cucumber.
This was backwards upside down. Kyle sat lost as to what to do next. None of his regular moves seemed to fit this situation.
And that’s when it struck him. Maybe she wasn’t just another situation, another conquest Maybe she was the …
Before he could finish his thought Tess inched closer to him and slowly ran her thumb along his bottom lip before imitating the same move with her soft tongue.
The next twenty minutes was a blur of pale flawless skin and silky blonde curls as he discovered all there was to know about Ms. Tess Harding.
~~~~~~~~~~~
As they made their way down the street Liz held her phone waiting for it to ring feeling very guilty.
“I didn’t even realize that I turned the sound off.”
As they approached her apartment building he turned towards her not knowing exactly how to end this night.
“Do you want to try one more time? I’m just thinking if he has his ringer off maybe something is happening between this girl Tess you were telling me about. Do you think you should really knock on his door?“
Liz stared at her cell and smiled.
“You know what? I think your absolutely right knowing Kyle he’s busy at the moment with Tess. That’s the only reason he would have for not answering his phone.”
As they walked hand in hand to her apartment Max couldn’t help but laugh.
“So I was being watched the whole time?”
Liz rolled her eyes.
“ Please don’t hold this against me this was not my idea. You have to understand, Kyle has been my best friend forever. He thinks any guy who tries to talk to me is either trying to get into my pants or a serial killer. If you look at this from his point of view it all seems kind of –
“Strange.”
Their eyes met as they stood outside her apartment building.
“Yeah, strange.”
Locked into each other’s embrace they weren’t even aware of the words they were saying.
The obvious sexual energy that they had been trying to disregard all night was suddenly too strong to ignore.
All they could think about was the night before and how badly they wanted to make it real.
Keeping her eyes locked onto his Liz slowly whispered her question already knowing what the answer would be.
“Would you like to come up for a drink?”
Max licked his lips and nodded as his eyes roamed from her chocolate stare to the rapid pulse of her graceful neck.
As they quickly walked to the elevator Victor held his hand up waiting for an introduction that never came.
“Ok, I know young love when I see it. I take no offence.”
As the doors closed Liz brought her hand up to the button to push it and was met by two hungry eyes.
His hand covered hers before she could press the number and his mouth was against the shell of her ear.
“Liz.”
Her eyes slammed shut as his sultry voice melted away any doubt she had.
“Please Max.”
She slid the tips of her fingers down his chest and beneath his sweater and felt the hot skin of his tight stomach.
That was all it took.
He groaned against her throat as his fist slammed against the red emergency button.
Hands fumbled at each other’s clothes as they fell against the walls of the elevator in an attempt to gain their balance.
Liz moaned loudly as her head fell back against the cool metal when he buried his mouth between her breasts and pushed her jeans along with her panties down her thighs.
She bit down hard on her bottom lip to stop herself from screaming as his hand soon discovered just how wet she had become.
After freeing his belt and managing to pull his zipper down she grasped him causing him to pant harshly against her breast that was peaking out from her bra.
“Max now …please!”
After finally freeing her leg from her jeans he quickly lifted her turning her back towards the opposite wall and lifted her up wrapping her legs around his strong thighs.
With one hard thrust he was inside and everything became silent.
Their shaky lips found each other as she slowly sank deeper onto him.
“Oh god Liz!”
This feeling was past the point of pleasure past the edge of oblivion. There was a need a hunger that once satisfied they knew they would only grow stronger..
“Faster.”
Her request brushed against his lips igniting something deep inside him as he grasped her bottom and pounded furiously inside her until their want was satiated.
Trembling sweaty and flushed he pulled back and looked completely stunned into her eyes.
“I’m sorry Liz… I-I just couldn’t –
Swallowing hard Liz attempted to catch her breath and touched her fingers to his lips.
“Neither could I.”
Breathlessly he rested his forehead to hers still in awe of the passion that exploded between them.
“Liz?”
“Yes Max?”
“If you get another wrong number again promise me one thing?”
“What?”
“Hang up immediately.”
Chapter 7.
As the chilly breeze blew against them both neither of them felt the slightest bit cold.
The thrill of actually being together touching skin, had spread a certain warmth threw them both that was both exhilarating and arousing.
No matter how hard they tried they couldn’t ignore the sexual path they had taken the night before.
With each stolen glance they were perpetually reminded of the heated sensual words that were passed back and forth while they imagined they were making love to each other.
It was like the elephant in the room you tried desperately to ignore but found impossible to avoid.
They were both stricken with how odd it was that they were finally together. For some reason they believed that this was an unattainable dream, too perfect to be real.
It was a surreal moment for them both; you could feel the electricity in the air as they walked hand in hand down the bustling streets of the City.
As they turned into a narrow one-way street Liz began to notice more and more trees taking the place of the buildings that lined the sidewalk.
As they approached two bulky tall bushes Max suddenly stopped.
A shy smile raised his lips as he motioned to an archway made out of wrought iron that connected the giant curved shaped shrubs.
“We’re here.”
Her breath literally caught in her throat from the husky tone drifting from his full perfect shaped lips.
Liz looked all around but could see no buildings only a glowing light emulating between the branches that were interweaved into the gate.
“Do you trust me?”
An enticing sparkle of anticipation glowed within his brandy color eyes as he lifted the lever and opened the entry almost daring her.
Taking a deep breath Liz walked from the sidewalk that magically turned into a cobblestone narrow pathway.
Hearing the clang of the iron latch closing behind them she turned to find herself face to face with his hard muscular chest.
Resting her hands on his sweater she could feel the well-developed body that was hiding behind his clothes.
He placed his arm around her shoulder and led her around the tapered corner towards the radiant mysterious lights.
Liz raised her hand to her mouth in wonder as she slowly took in her surroundings.
It was the most beautiful place she had ever seen. It looked as if it had been taken out of the pages of a fairy tale.
The cobblestone path expanded into a large circle that was illuminated by thousands of tiny white lights that seemed to be suspended in air all around them resembling sparkling bright stars.
In the center of the circle was a small intimate marble table with two chairs that looked hand made with swirling patterns that resembled cherubs and ivy delicately sculpted into obvious works of art.
In the middle of the table was a singe white rose in a slender crystal vase with several glowing white votive candles twinkling against the dark night sky.
Softly in the background she could hear Strauss, one of her favorites playing in the background.
Leaving her hand he pulled out her chair and motioned for her to sit.
“Are you hungry?”
“I think I’m speechless.”
A relieved expression covered his face as he joined her at their romantic table for two.
Liz grazed her fingers over the white linen napkin and expensive silverware in awe.
“How did you? I mean we made this date …last night.”
Her voice trailed off as she completed those last two words feeling a deep red blush rush across her cheeks.
He then reached across the table and took her hand caressing her soft skin with his fingers.
“Liz I want you to know that last night…what we did. What happened between us…meant something very special to me, I didn’t plan for us to …connect that way. I wanted it to be special and romantic. I wanted to make love to you but I’m ashamed to say I couldn’t control myself. I had dreamed of being with you so often that hearing your voice…knowing you were lying there in bed …I just …I couldn’t”
He looked down at the ground embarrassed by his admission when he felt a tug on his hand.
“Max I was there too. It was as much my decision as it was yours. I wanted to be with you and somehow at that moment knowing that I was able to make you feel that way by just my voice …by just the closeness that we’ve shared by our conversations. I don’t know it was very…. erotic. I’ve never felt as close to anyone in that moment than I felt with you and you weren’t physically there. I think that means something.”
“But Liz-
“Max to me you were there, your hands were the ones touching me, caressing me bringing me to the point of …
Loosing her courage Max coughed and nodded looked directly into her eyes.
The heat between them was undeniable.
Inside they both were dying to see feel and touch each other for real.
Liz did her best to hold back not wanting Max to get the wrong idea and Max wanted to be a gentleman to show her he was interested in more than just being physical.
“It felt the same to me. I just wanted you to know that you are very special to me and you deserve the fairytale and everything that comes with it.”
Looking around at the beautiful romantic garden he had created for her Liz smiled brightly back at him.
“Did you do all this?”
Laughing out loud Max leaned back and ran his fingers over the marble table.
“No, this is not my field of expertise. My friend Danny specializes in Architectural Gardens, he owed me a favor. He spent all day designing this for me and his wife who happens to be an amazing chef put together a magnificent meal for us.”
Wide-eyed Liz sighed as she gently touched the pointed leaves that cascaded close to her arm.
“Wow, he must’ve owed you some favor to do all this.”
Chapter 8.
Dreamily Liz lay on her side as she quietly watched the slow up and down motion of his chest as he slept beside her.
Her body was still tingling from the many times max had slowly made love to her until she was left breathlessly trembling.
No matter how many times he took her to that magical place it was never enough.
In fact she momentarily considered quitting her dream job so she could spend her days and nights with him making love only stopping briefly to eat and shower.
Liz knew she should let him rest but she couldn’t stop herself, she needed to touch him again.
Slowly she began to glide her fingertips over his chest following the ridges of muscles that ran across his flawless skin down to his hard tight stomach.
It was without a doubt the most passionate night of her entire night and she didn’t want it to be over just quite yet.
Very carefully she attempted not to wake him as she straddled his hips and gazed down upon him.
Moving down so she was just over his stomach she lightly began to feather kisses across his smooth skin.
She was mesmerized watching his stomach flex and quiver as her lips went lower.
She began to wonder if he was still sleeping as she hovered over him letting her hot breath drift where her mouth would soon be.
She stared up at him through her long dark eyelashes as her urge to please him pushed her on.
Smoothing her soft hands over his chest she slipped the sheet down and slowly began to slide her tongue over him. Her eyes slammed shut sighing, as she tasted him for the first time.
Her heart pounded furiously remembering how he took her again and again.
Suddenly his breathing began to pick up, she opened her eyes to see him fisting the sheets and shaking.
“Liz.”
He hissed her name as she flashed her dark brown eyes up at him humming with pleasure as she gently pressed her nails into his skin.
He moaned as she quickened her pace. Her long silky dark hair brushed against his thighs with each stroke causing him to rush further to the point of no return.
“Liz …wait…I’m going to…I can’t…
Hearing him breathless and barely able to speak just made her want to go further.
Wanting to experience all of him she refused to stop
Sliding her tongue up she flicked it across the sensitive head of his cock smiling as he groaned loudly, she knew it wouldn’t be long as she took him as deep as she could.
“Oh God…Liz!”
Crying out her name he flew over edge.
Glaring at her with his beautiful honey eyes he sat up and pulled her down on top of him.
“That was... incredible…you are incredible.”
Blushing profusely she lowered her eyes shying away from his intense stare.
“No, please look at me.”
Resting his hand under her chin he gently forced her to look at him.
“Liz,” he captured her attention with the sincerity of his sweet voice.
His hands carefully pulled her hair away from her face as he stroked her flushed cheeks with his thumbs.
“I-I’ve never …felt this way about anyone before.”
Her eyes widened as she held her breath amazed by the serious moment she wasn’t expecting.
Lying in his arms she whispered back to him before they fell asleep.
“Neither have I.”
As dawn peaked through the buildings and into her apartment Max slowly woke.
Liz smiled as she started to feel light kisses along her shoulder.
Breathing out she pulled his arm tighter around her as he held her close to him.
Feeling his lips brush against her ear he whispered softly.
“I could stay like this forever.”
“So could I.”
Just then max closed his eyes and sighed.
“Damn”
“What is it?”
“I have a meeting today with the builders, I totally forgot Liz. I would blow it off but we’re dealing with a strict deadline and with the holiday coming up it’s going to push us back even further-
Smiling at him she began kissing him making him temporarily forget all about his meeting or the fact that he even had a job.
Pulling back she reached for the shirt he was wearing last night and wrapped it around her.
“Max I completely understand, do you have time for breakfast?”
Grabbing his boxers Max pulled her close as they kneeled on the bed facing each other.
“You would make me breakfast?”
Her eyes brightened as she bit her bottom lip blushing with embarrassment.
“Well if you call coffee and toast breakfast, definitely. I’m afraid I’m not much of a cook.”
Cupping her face in his hands he began to kiss her neck.
“Well lucky for us I am. So it looks like I’ll be in charge of feeding us.”
Liz closed her eyes as her heart jumped loving how he spoke of them and their future together.
Moaning softly Liz hesitantly pulled away and backed off the bed.
“If you keep that up you’ll never get out of here.”
Following her into the kitchen Max stood by the counter happily watching Liz as she started the coffee maker.
Standing there in just his button up shirt that stopped just below her butt Max couldn’t help but walk over to her…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
They both groaned with satisfaction as Kyle flipped them over putting Tess on top.
He found himself gasping for air as he watched her arch her back and close her eyes.
Cupping her ass he helped keep her rhythm as she began to moan his name.
“Kyle!”
He looked up at her completely caught off guard by the emotion hitting him as he stared up her.
He was struck by her beauty, but it was more then that. He truly wanted to please her. For once in his life he was only thinking of the woman he was with not his own gratification.
Reaching up he gently caressed her breasts sliding his thumbs across her nipples watching in fascination as she picked up her speed.
He froze as she suddenly opened her sky blue eyes and gazed down at him.
Captivated by her and how she was reacting to his every touch, he smoothed his hand down her porcelain skin to the fair-haired triangle below.
He swallowed hard as her lips parted and a shiver ran through her body.
Seeing her fall was all it took.
As he came hard he took himself by surprised mouthing the three words that he did everything in past relationships to avoid.
“I love you.”
Collapsing on his chest Tess put her soft lips to his ear and returned his words before resting next to him with her arms wrapped tightly around him.
Lying there breathless Kyle pulled her even closer running his fingers through her shiny blonde curls.
“Wow…I never... said that before…
“Do you regret…
Feeling her begin to pull away he quickly tightened his grip for once not caring how whipped he sounded.
“Definitely not.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Max slowly approached Liz as she bent down to get the bread out of the fridge.
Watching as his shirt rose exposing her body inch by inch was all it took.
Taking her passionately by the arm he turned her around and seized her lips.
Lifting her up on the counter she began to tremble as his mouth followed the path of his fingers as he slowly released the buttons.
She threw her head back and laced her fingers through his dark hair as he kissed a path between her breasts and gently caressed her between her legs making her gasp.
Breathing hard she closed her eyes and whispered. “What about breakfast?”
He answered her by dropping to his knees and easing her thighs apart…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kyle was in a daze as he watched Tess walk by him dressed in only his football tee shirt.
His eyes were locked on her silky bare legs until something suddenly occurred to him.
“Oh my god Liz …I forgot all about Liz!”
Tess followed him as he jumped up and down attempting to put on his jeans.
“Kyle …wait! What are you going to do?”
Pulling a shirt out of his closet Kyle ran out the door with Tess right being him begging him to stop.

Hearing Liz scream with pleasure max rose to his feet while Liz quickly pulled his boxers down.
With one powerful thrust he was inside panting against her neck as she wrapped her legs around him.
Moving to look into her eyes he rested his forehead against hers.
Her lips parted as he began to move faster knocking over jars of spices that were lined across the counter.
“Liz …I want…I want you to know…
“Yes max….
Bang! Bang! Bang!
“The door…someone’s at your door.”
“Ignore it….what do you want me to know?”
I just …I lov-
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Suddenly they could hear a key rattling in the lock.
Max and Liz both looked towards the door and then at each other.
“It’s Kyle! I gave him a key!”
Quickly they parted and fumbled around in an attempt to get dressed before Kyle rushed in her apartment.
Too late.
“You bastard!”
Running up to Max with his shirt half opened and barefoot Kyle was in a rage as he quickly understood what was happening and grabbed Max with one hand and was about to use the other hand to punch him.
“Kyle what the hell are you doing!”
Whipping his head around Liz came into view.
“Oh my god!" Kyle quickly let go of Max in order to use his hands to cover up the fact that Liz was standing in front of him with almost nothing on "Go put something on!”
Pulling his hands off his offended eyes Liz was furious.
“Kyle! What the hell are you doing here?!”
Floored and disgusted Kyle pointed to Max as he stared Liz down.
“I can’t believe you slept with him!”
Nodding to Tess who was cowering behind him half dressed Liz pointed out the obvious.
“Really? And what were you two doing? Playing chess?”
Speechless and suddenly feeling like he maybe should’ve thought this out Kyle began to button his shirt.
“Kyle! Bedroom! Now!”
As Liz and Kyle hashed their boundaries to their friendship out Max and Tess stood half naked in the kitchen awkwardly looking at each other before Max finally broke the ice.
“So…it's Tess right?”
"Yeah...and you're Max."
"Yep...so...how about that weather we're having?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“I know I went too far! You’re right but…but, well you’re my best friend and I was…worried.”
Liz hugged Kyle knowing that he was completely wrong but loving him all the more for it.
“You’re my best friend too, but you can't treat me like a child. I'm a grown woman! Kyle you need to trust me.”
Like a little kid kicking the dirt when he knows he's wrong Kyle mumbled his apology.
As they walked out of the bedroom back to normal Kyle whispered in her ear.
“Liz…I have to tell you something. I said those three words. You know, those three words I said I’d never say.”
Nodding Liz whispered back as she glared at him.
“That’s great Kyle especially when I think Max was just about to say those words to me… that was... until you showed up.” Liz jabbed a sharpened finger into the side of Kyle's ribcage.
“Shit!”
Quickly Kyle grabbed Tess by the hand and ran for the door.
“Max, sorry for the misunderstanding. You two just go ahead and continue on with whatever you were doing.”
Watching the door slam Liz turned to Max with an awkward grin.
“So... that…was Kyle.”
Walking slowly towards her he reached for her hands and placed them around his waist.
Kissing her softly he whispered in her ear.
“He’s very protective.”
“Yes very.”
As he lifted her up and wrapped her legs around his waist he whispered back.
“I would be too If I was your best friend.”
Liz pulled back and looked into his eyes.
“So, should he be worried?”
Hesitating for a moment Max brushed his thumb across her lips and shook his head.
“Tell Kyle he has nothing to be concerned about.”
Kissing his thumb she fluttered her eyes up at him.
“And why is that?”
Laying her gently on the bed he hovered over her as he began to unbutton her shirt.
“Because I love you and I rather be the person you're in love with.”
Pressing her hand on his chest she stopped him and pointed to her alarm clock.
"Max, what about your deadline?"
Continuing to kiss her neck he muttered back softly…
"What deadline?"
Chapter 8.
Dreamily Liz lay on her side as she quietly watched the slow up and down motion of his chest as he slept beside her.
Her body was still tingling from the many times max had slowly made love to her until she was left breathlessly trembling.
No matter how many times he took her to that magical place it was never enough.
In fact she momentarily considered quitting her dream job so she could spend her days and nights with him making love only stopping briefly to eat and shower.
Liz knew she should let him rest but she couldn’t stop herself, she needed to touch him again.
Slowly she began to glide her fingertips over his chest following the ridges of muscles that ran across his flawless skin down to his hard tight stomach.
It was without a doubt the most passionate night of her entire night and she didn’t want it to be over just quite yet.
Very carefully she attempted not to wake him as she straddled his hips and gazed down upon him.
Moving down so she was just over his stomach she lightly began to feather kisses across his smooth skin.
She was mesmerized watching his stomach flex and quiver as her lips went lower.
She began to wonder if he was still sleeping as she hovered over him letting her hot breath drift where her mouth would soon be.
She stared up at him through her long dark eyelashes as her urge to please him pushed her on.
Smoothing her soft hands over his chest she slipped the sheet down and slowly began to slide her tongue over him. Her eyes slammed shut sighing, as she tasted him for the first time.
Her heart pounded furiously remembering how he took her again and again.
Suddenly his breathing began to pick up, she opened her eyes to see him fisting the sheets and shaking.
“Liz.”
He hissed her name as she flashed her dark brown eyes up at him humming with pleasure as she gently pressed her nails into his skin.
He moaned as she quickened her pace. Her long silky dark hair brushed against his thighs with each stroke causing him to rush further to the point of no return.
“Liz …wait…I’m going to…I can’t…
Hearing him breathless and barely able to speak just made her want to go further.
Wanting to experience all of him she refused to stop
Sliding her tongue up she flicked it across the sensitive head of his cock smiling as he groaned loudly, she knew it wouldn’t be long as she took him as deep as she could.
“Oh God…Liz!”
Crying out her name he flew over edge.
Glaring at her with his beautiful honey eyes he sat up and pulled her down on top of him.
“That was... incredible…you are incredible.”
Blushing profusely she lowered her eyes shying away from his intense stare.
“No, please look at me.”
Resting his hand under her chin he gently forced her to look at him.
“Liz,” he captured her attention with the sincerity of his sweet voice.
His hands carefully pulled her hair away from her face as he stroked her flushed cheeks with his thumbs.
“I-I’ve never …felt this way about anyone before.”
Her eyes widened as she held her breath amazed by the serious moment she wasn’t expecting.
Lying in his arms she whispered back to him before they fell asleep.
“Neither have I.”
As dawn peaked through the buildings and into her apartment Max slowly woke.
Liz smiled as she started to feel light kisses along her shoulder.
Breathing out she pulled his arm tighter around her as he held her close to him.
Feeling his lips brush against her ear he whispered softly.
“I could stay like this forever.”
“So could I.”
Just then max closed his eyes and sighed.
“Damn”
“What is it?”
“I have a meeting today with the builders, I totally forgot Liz. I would blow it off but we’re dealing with a strict deadline and with the holiday coming up it’s going to push us back even further-
Smiling at him she began kissing him making him temporarily forget all about his meeting or the fact that he even had a job.
Pulling back she reached for the shirt he was wearing last night and wrapped it around her.
“Max I completely understand, do you have time for breakfast?”
Grabbing his boxers Max pulled her close as they kneeled on the bed facing each other.
“You would make me breakfast?”
Her eyes brightened as she bit her bottom lip blushing with embarrassment.
“Well if you call coffee and toast breakfast, definitely. I’m afraid I’m not much of a cook.”
Cupping her face in his hands he began to kiss her neck.
“Well lucky for us I am. So it looks like I’ll be in charge of feeding us.”
Liz closed her eyes as her heart jumped loving how he spoke of them and their future together.
Moaning softly Liz hesitantly pulled away and backed off the bed.
“If you keep that up you’ll never get out of here.”
Following her into the kitchen Max stood by the counter happily watching Liz as she started the coffee maker.
Standing there in just his button up shirt that stopped just below her butt Max couldn’t help but walk over to her…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Max slowly approached Liz as she bent down to get the bread out of the fridge.
Watching as his shirt rose exposing her body inch by inch was all it took.
Taking her passionately by the arm he turned her around and seized her lips.
Lifting her up on the counter she began to tremble as his mouth followed the path of his fingers as he slowly released the buttons.
She threw her head back and laced her fingers through his dark hair as he kissed a path between her breasts and gently caressed her between her legs making her gasp.
Breathing hard she closed her eyes and whispered. “What about breakfast?”
He answered her by dropping to his knees and easing her thighs apart…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Chapter 9
Standing back from her latest project, a Renoir restoration Liz tilted her head and squinted her eyes making sure she covered every prospective.
“Fantastic work Ms. Parker.”
Stiffing her body Liz gripped her brush hoping that her boss would not be trying anything unsavoury.
Taking a quick glance around she soon became well aware that it was past working hours and everyone had gone home for the night.
Slowly she placed her tools down on the platform in front of her and bent over to cover the piece of art before reaching back to slip the knot from her smock.
She silently hoped that she could make up some excuse for a quick departure and leave.
After their last confrontation she had always been careful not to leave herself vulnerable to him.
She came in when she was sure others were around and left with friends to make sure she was never alone with him.
Only this particular night she had been caught up concentrating on a shading issue. For hours she had been painfully attempting to develop just the right tone of crimson red to fit the blush of a cheek on a certain woman depicted in the painting.
Time had escaped her and it wasn’t until she smelled his stench of cigars and scotch that she realized she was alone with him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Shoving the door open Liz ran past Ivan in a huff not even stopping to say hello, which was highly unusual.
Slamming her door she pulled off her heels and sat down on her couch shaking as the memory ran over on a loop in her mind.
Hearing a knock on her door Liz looked up at her clock and quickly tried to rub the smudged mascara from under her eyes.
“Liz? It’s me …are you alright?”
Forgetting that it was the time she was supposed to go out with Max she closed her long trench coat and smoothed back her hair before answering the door.
“Hello Max.”
Turning quickly she spoke to him from behind the bedroom door trying to get rid of the evidence.
“Liz did something happen? Ivan said you were – “
“No, I’m fine! Just running late from work and was in a rush. Ivan can be very sensitive I’ll apologize to him later.”
Stuffing her ripped clothes in her hamper she began to hear a softer female voice talking to Max.
“Tess is that you?”
Coming out in her robe her face lit up when she saw the pretty blonde holding a coffee mug in her hand.
“Hi Liz! How are you? Max and I were just discussing whether he checks the expiration dates on his cartons of milk or just leaves them in there till they turn into cottage cheese like Kyle does.”
Laughing Liz pointed to the fridge. “Take anything you need Tess, I’m surprised he had anything but beer in his fridge to tell you the truth. I'm not even sure he knows how to turn the oven on."
Smiling as Max wrapped his strong arms around her from behind and squeezed her she realized just how happy she was that Kyle had not only found someone but someone as nice as Tess.
She had come to know her over the past month and they were becoming fast friends which was a far cry from the other women he had brought home where she was lucky if they stayed long enough to catch their first name.
“Tess I was thinking would you and Kyle like to go out Saturday night? We could double date. There’s a new Japanese Restaurant that opened up a few blocks from here I’ve been dying to try out.”
Tess was more than happy as she accepted her invitation on behalf of Kyle.
She understood how important Liz was in his life and the fact that they were getting along so well was something she had hoped would happen.
She really liked Liz. Most of her friends over the years had been men so it was nice to have someone to talk about clothes and shoes and what the latest gossip was concerning the movie stars they both crushed on. It was nice having a female friend.
Okay maybe it wasn't right to just volunteer Kyle the way she did without asking him first...but she was sure he wouldn't mind
As soon as the door closed Liz rushed into her room hoping Max wouldn’t push the issue of her mood.
Buried in her closet she tried to hide her emotions that were making their way quickly to the surface.
“So you’re ok with that restaurant right Max?”
Startled when she heard his soft voice close behind her Liz froze.
“What happened today?”
Brushing by him she grabbed an outfit and made a beeline towards the bathroom.
“Nothing I can't handle Max.”
Grabbing her arm he pulled her in close and lifted her chin carefully.
“You’ve been crying.”
Sighing she broke away from him and looked at her reflection in the mirror.
"It’s nothing Max please can we just go out and have a good time."
Walking up behind her he stared at her reflection watching as she wiped away the black traces of her tears.
“This has to do with your boss again doesn’t it?”
Pushing past him she took off her robe and began to get dressed.
“Max I don’t want to talk about it.”
A look of shock flashed across his face as he began to put the pieces together.
“Liz what happened to you! Did he … oh my god …I’m going to kill him!”
Sitting on the bed Liz pulled her sweater quickly over her head as Max furiously paced around the apartment.
“I thought you talk to human resources about him? I mean after the last incident I was certain that he wouldn’t be allowed near you …
Watching as she hid her face inside the curtain of her wavy long hair something suddenly occurred to him.
“You never filed a complaint did you?”
“Max you don’t understand –“
“What don’t I understand Liz? That you lied to me?”
Pulling her boots on her voice escalated feeling as if her father were speaking to her.
“Listen Max you don’t understand what its like to be a woman with all male superiors! I’m never going to get anywhere in my career if I complain every time one of my supervisors makes a move on me!”
Staring out the window Max stood stunned. “I can’t believe you lied to me.”
He closed his eyes as he felt her soft hands reach around his waist.
“I’m sorry Max. I didn’t think you’d understand.”
Turning around to face her he cupped her face in his hands.
His voice softened as he looked into her watery eyes.
“You’re right I don’t understand …are you ok?”
Nodding she rested her head on his chest welcoming the comfort of his steady heartbeat. Her eyes slowly closed as he wrapped his arms around her.
“Are we having our first fight?”
Clearing her throat Liz held onto him tighter.
“I think so.”
Kissing the top of her head he rubbed her back and sighed.
“Well I don’t like it.”
“Me neither.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“YOU WHAT?!"
"I told Liz you and I would have dinner with her and Max tonight," said Tess from her spot on the sofa.
Tess really wasn't sure what had just happened. One minute she and Kyle were kissing like crazy on his sofa, her hands in his hair, his halfway up her shirt, when in between kisses she told him about their dinner date plans with Max and Liz. The next thing she knew Kyle's lips were off hers, his hands were out of her shirt and he was up off the sofa pacing the floor like a mad man
“Nooo not tonight of all nights! It's the middle of the playoffs and we got the second game against Boston...can't miss that just to go out to some fancy restaurant....”
“But sweetie" Tess purred laying it on a tad sweet and think ".... it’s not just any restaurant it’s the new Japanese place that just opened –“ She watched as Kyle's face fell as his eyes became even bigger.
“Japanese! You expect me to eat raw fish on top of missing baseball?”
Smiling Tess reached out to grab Kyle as he paced by her. She pulled him back on the sofa next to her and quickly latched back on to him in a deep kiss. And while doing so took one of his hands and slid it under her shirt to feel her soft breasts.
“Hmm…Kyle its called Sushi and it’s a delicacy. Will you do this for me?”
As she continued to hold his hand under her shirt and to her breast Tess used her other hand to unbutton Kyle's front jeans button. When that was done she reached past the Calvin Klein underwear she had bought for him and took him in her hands and started stroking him.
“That’s cheating.” Kyle moaned as he laid his head on Tess' shoulder.
As she continued to stroke him Tess leaned over to breath heavily into Kyle's ear and whispered.
“One thing you must learn about us women Kyle. When it comes to getting some thing we want, we never play fair.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~
"...Yankees are up by one but Boston has runners on second and first as…"
Rolling her eyes Tess reached up to grab Kyle by the back of his belt and pulled him back from where he had been hanging over the front seat of the cab listening to the game over the radio with the cab driver..
"Hey....what....?!" Kyle managed to get out when his butt bounced back into his seat.
"You are on a date with ME, remember?" Tess hissed in his ear "So forget about the stupid game...unless you want it to be Harry the taxi driver that you go home with later tonight! You understand me?!"
Kyle just nodded his head yes!
Once again sitting back in the cab Kyle not to mention Tess could feel the tension between Liz and Max. Kyle never been known for his etiquette couldn't keep his mouth shut.
“What’s going on with you two?”
Feeling a slight pinch from Tess Kyle rubbed his leg and looked over at her surprised.
“What was that for?”
Rolling her eyes Tess shook her head back and forth trying to give a clue to Kyle to shut up.
“Fine, we’ll drive in silence but I’m telling everyone right now. I am not taking off my shoes! I don’t care what the so called tradition is here!”
Once at the restaurant most everyone was just moving their food around their plates, Max and Liz because they were distracted and Kyle because he was wondering if what he was eating was still breathing.... he even poked it with his fork a few time to see if it would get up and run off his plate.
Under his breath Max stabbed some tuna with his fork and muttered quietly.
“You can’t just let him get away with it.”
Catching Max’s whisper Kyle loudly interrupted.
“Let who get away with what?”
*SMACK*
“Ouch!”
Kicking Kyle under the table Tess continued to eat her meal but she gave him a 'Stay the hell out of it' look with her eyes.
“Max please this isn’t the place.”
Visibly upset Kyle’s curiosity grew.
“Is it that pervert of a boss again Liz!”
*SMACK*
“OUCH!”
This time it was Liz who shoved her heel deep into his shin.
“Will everyone stop kicking me! I'm going to be crippled before the meals over!”
“I don’t see why he can’t know Liz, Kyle is your best friend.”
Throwing her fork down on her plate Liz took a sip of her Saki and sat back in the booth.
“Fine, tell him… this should be very helpful.”
“Listen Max you don’t understand what its like to be a woman with all male superiors! I’m never going to get anywhere in my career if I complain every time one of my supervisors makes a move on me!”
Staring out the window Max stood stunned. “I can’t believe you lied to me.”
He closed his eyes as he felt her soft hands reach around his waist.
“I’m sorry Max. I didn’t think you’d understand.”
Turning around to face her he cupped her face in his hands.
His voice softened as he looked into her watery eyes.
“You’re right I don’t understand …are you ok?”
Nodding she rested her head on his chest welcoming the comfort of his steady heartbeat. Her eyes slowly closed as he wrapped his arms around her.
“Are we having our first fight?”
Clearing her throat Liz held onto him tighter.
“I think so.”
Kissing the top of her head he rubbed her back and sighed.
“Well I don’t like it.”
“Me neither.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~
"...Yankees are up by one but Boston has runners on second and first as…"
Rolling her eyes Tess reached up to grab Kyle by the back of his belt and pulled him back from where he had been hanging over the front seat of the cab listening to the game over the radio with the cab driver..
"Hey....what....?!" Kyle managed to get out when his butt bounced back into his seat.
"You are on a date with ME, remember?" Tess hissed in his ear "So forget about the stupid game...unless you want it to be Harry the taxi driver that you go home with later tonight! You understand me?!"
Kyle just nodded his head yes!
Once again sitting back in the cab Kyle not to mention Tess could feel the tension between Liz and Max. Kyle never been known for his etiquette couldn't keep his mouth shut.
“What’s going on with you two?”
Feeling a slight pinch from Tess Kyle rubbed his leg and looked over at her surprised.
“What was that for?”
Rolling her eyes Tess shook her head back and forth trying to give a clue to Kyle to shut up.
“Fine, we’ll drive in silence but I’m telling everyone right now. I am not taking off my shoes! I don’t care what the so called tradition is here!”
Once at the restaurant most everyone was just moving their food around their plates, Max and Liz because they were distracted and Kyle because he was wondering if what he was eating was still breathing.... he even poked it with his fork a few time to see if it would get up and run off his plate.
Under his breath Max stabbed some tuna with his fork and muttered quietly.
“You can’t just let him get away with it.”
Catching Max’s whisper Kyle loudly interrupted.
“Let who get away with what?”
*SMACK*
“Ouch!”
Kicking Kyle under the table Tess continued to eat her meal but she gave him a 'Stay the hell out of it' look with her eyes.
“Max please this isn’t the place.”
Visibly upset Kyle’s curiosity grew.
“Is it that pervert of a boss again Liz!”
*SMACK*
“OUCH!”
This time it was Liz who shoved her heel deep into his shin.
“Will everyone stop kicking me! I'm going to be crippled before the meals over!”
“I don’t see why he can’t know Liz, Kyle is your best friend.”
Throwing her fork down on her plate Liz took a sip of her Saki and sat back in the booth.
“Fine, tell him… this should be very helpful.”
Chapter 10.
With his eyebrows perched up high Kyle waited for the big reveal as Liz stared down at her meal knowing exactly what his reaction would be.
Max cleared his throat suddenly hoping he wasn’t now making a mistake.
Tess smiled nervously secretly hoping this too.
“Well Kyle it’s like this, Liz has been having problems... with her boss.”
Sitting back in the booth he remained calm as Tess smoothed her hand over his thigh.
“What kind of problems?”
Sighing Liz looked up at Max apprehensively. “I don’t see how this is going to help Max.”
Now more concerned Kyle ignoring Liz directed his attention to Max. “What kind of problems Max?”
Sensing Kyle's overreaction Max hesitated.
“Oh my God someone please tell me! What? I don’t see what the big deal is its not like he made a pass at her or something!”
Laughing Kyle raised his eyes brows and shook his head “I mean that would be crazy the guy is old enough to be her father for god sakes! Have you seen him Max? The man wears sweater vests and smokes a pipe!”
Looking back and forth at the two of them he sat back in his seat comforted by his own ignorance.
“So what is it?”
Understanding why Max and Liz were so uneasy Tess whispered against Kyle’s ear praying she would have a calming effect on him.
“Kyle, Liz’s boss is sexually harassing her.”
Frozen for a moment his voice became quiet causing Liz to sip more of the strong Japanese liquor.
“He touched you.”
Sighing she stared at Max “Kyle I’m fine and I’m going to handle this on my own.”
“So he touched you.” He repeated more in control then the first time.
In a monotone voice she closed her eyes and rubbed her temples. “Yes Kyle.”
Knowing her love for her job and her unrelenting resilience he questioned her further as he tapped his fork on his plate.
“Was this the first time?”
Max reached for her hand hoping not to repeat the argument from before “No, it wasn’t the first time. She’s worried for her job but I think she has to do something about this. No career is worth abuse.”
With understanding and support Tess continued to stroke Kyle’s thigh as she addressed Liz.
“Liz, I can’t imagine how hard you’ve worked to get where you are now, and I understand your fear of what he will do, but Max is right.”
“It’s complicated.” Grabbing for her purse Liz smiled at Tess thankful that she cared but this was something she wanted to handle on her own, carefully without making a big scene or without the entire museum finding out.
Taking a deep breath Kyle spoke his peace.
“Well I think we should Let Liz take care of this. She a responsible independent woman perfectly capable of handling herself, we can’t make her decisions for her.”
“Really?” Liz’s voice rose with disbelief
“Seriously Kyle?” Max rubbed the back of his neck confused.
Whispering in his ear Tess caressed his back not really buying anything he said. “Kyle are you alright?”
Nodding coolly he smiled unable to look in her direction. “I’m fine, this is Liz's life we should just stay out of it.”
“Thank you Kyle.” Breathing out her relief Liz gazed back at Max who was busy staring at Kyle’s odd demeanour.
“I’m really tired Max, I’d like to go home now.”
Lacing his fingers in hers he nodded “Sure Liz, I’ll get a cab.” Throwing his credit card on the table Max got up from the table to leave.
“Wait I’ll go with you, I need some air.” Excusing himself Kyle smiled at Tess reassuringly. “I’m fine babe, really.”
As Max raised his hand to hail the cab Kyle jumped in front of him throwing punches into the air like a prize fighter.
“So tomorrow right? Nice and early catch him off guard.”
Lowering his hand Max shook his head. “I knew you were full of shit in there!”
Scoffing Kyle hesitated for a moment before throwing out a right jab into the air. “Well I can’t exactly tell her I’m going to kick the crap out the guy Max. Think about it.”
Grabbing him by the shoulders Max stilled his boxing moves trying to get his attention.
“Kyle we’re just going to talk to the guy, promise me there will be no violence.”
Turning to run down a taxi that was close Kyle slapped him on the back.
“Listen I’m taking Tess to Hooligans to catch the replay of the game I missed because of this fine meal. I’ll meet you at ten am on the steps of the museum, don’t be late.”
Smiling as Tess emerged from the restaurant he grabbed her hand and helped her into the cab.
“You can get the next one right Max?”
Before the door shut Max yelled quickly trying to get all his words in wondering if Kyle was listening to a word he said.
“No violence Kyle!”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Staring at his watch on the marble steps Max had a sinking feeling this was all going to go oh so horribly wrong.
He closed his eyes as he pictured Liz lying in his arms thanking him for being so understanding and trusting in her.
I promise you tomorrow I will go to human resources and take care of everything Max. I swear I will. I just need you to promise me you'll trust me in letting me handle this my way.
Max knew he and Kyle shouldn't be here and he should let Liz handle this...but...he was scared that Liz would lose her nerve and back out. So he and Kyle were here to make sure things got done.
”Stop daydreaming Max we’ve got someone to beat up!”
Opening his eyes Max had to hustle to follow Kyle up the stairs with great anxiety.
"Now remember Kyle we're just here to talk to him"
Holding his fists Kyle winked sarcastically at Max.
"Talk to him?! Ohh yeah I got some talking to do to him! Here is speaker one and here's speaker two!" Kyle shook both his fist in the air.
Breathing out Max ran up behind him as regret rushed through his body. “Crap.”
Once in the museum Kyle made a beeline straight to his office. “I had to meet Liz here once, I think its this door right here.”
Grabbing the back of his coat Max whispered knowing that this was a mistake. “Now Kyle, don’t do anything rash. I really don’t want to spend the night in jail.”
“Yeah yeah just stay behind me I’ll take care of everything.”
Knowing he had better take control over the situation Max switched positions leaving him face to face with the middle-aged professor.
“Who are you, and what are you doing in my office.”
“Tell him why he's going to get beat down Max!”
“Excuse me sir I’m Max Evans and this is Kyle Valenti. We’re friends of Liz Parker and we’d just like to talk to you for a moment if that’s possible – “
Enraged her boss picked up his phone. “ Look you two have exactly one minute to exit my office before I have the guards throw you out of here for trespassing!”
“Move aside Evans, let me at him!”
Holding his hands out Max tried to get the situation under control. “ No one is hitting anyone Kyle, we are just here to talk about Liz and – “
“Talk? What is there to talk about? I know why you’re here, the little whore asked for and it and is now worried for her position here. I see it every day –"
Seeing red Max raised his fist, stepped forward and punched him as hard as he could knocking him to the ground and clearly unconscious.
“Whoa! That’s what I’m talking about! That was awesome! Wow Max I have to say I didn’t know you had it in you!”
Stunned Max stared down at his throbbing hand. “H-he called her a whore …I-I …oh no…oh god.”
Within seconds four guards were surrounding them and the police were called.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
From his spot on the bench Max looked around the holding cell at the normal group you might expect to find there.... gang members, drunks and drug dealers....not the type of crowd you'd want to be spending the day with. But sadly that's what he and Kyle had been doing for the last two hours ever since the cops had hauled them down town and thrown them in here.
Leaning his head back against the concrete wall Max let out loud sigh.
“Well that went well.”
“Hell I didn’t even get to hit him!”
Rolling his eyes Max looked over where Kyle was leaned forward on the bars of the holding cell in your typical jailhouse scene. All he needed was a tin cup to rattle the bars with and he'd be straight out of a Hollywood movie.
“That’s what your concerned about? Kyle if you haven’t noticed we are in jail!”
Resting his arms threw the bars Kyle rolled his eyes.
"Of course I know where we are! It's kind of hard not to know where we are what with all these grey bars every where and rough looking guys with tattoos."
"But Kyle...we ARE in jail!" groaned Max "I mean I've never even gotten a speeding ticket before! What if my boss hears about this!? What if this goes on my record?! I don't even know if I have a record! I DON'T want a record!"
Before Kyle could comment they were interrupted when a rather large cop suddenly unlocked the door to their holding cell.
"Evans, Valenti! Come with me!"
Max and Kyle quickly fell into step behind the large cop as he lead them down the hallways of the station house, other even larger cops falling in behind them.
They were lead into a large room where they found more cops but most surprising Liz's boss standing there. He was still holding a handkerchief to his nose, his shirt was covered in blood and his face was taking on a lovely shade of purplish green.
After the door was shut one of the cops started to speak.
"Now Mr. Green, are you still sure you want to press charges against these two men?"
"Of course I do!" Liz's boss shouted out thru the handkerchief "They assaulted me in my own office and I want them locked up!"
Before anyone else could say anything the door to the interrogating room was thrown open as Tess came breezing in.
"Ohhhh I don't think you want to be doing that Mr. Green."
"Why the hell not?!" glared Liz's boss "And who the hell are you?!"
"Ohhh I'm Tess Harding I'm an attorney. I’m with Lancaster, Kirkland and White." Tess passed out a business card to both Liz's boss and the cops.
All the cops in the room whistled, that was one of if not the top legal firms in all of New York City.
"And I'm also representing Mr Evans and Mr Valenti here."
"So?" sneered Liz's boss as he looked at Tess' card and than back up at her "Why shouldn't I press charges against them?!"
Even though the man was hostile Tess’ lawyer instincts never let her miss a beat as she smiled a the man.
"Because if you do than I'll advise my clients to not make any type of deals, which means this case will have to go to court, which also means that the reason they punched you will have to come up in public records for all to hear."
Tess' smile grew as she watched the bastard eyes widen and his face pale "...and as you know sexual harassment of an employee is a violation of New York City sub penal code 47B Section 20."
Liz's boss begin to sputter badly
"There's...no....proof...I ever did anything to her!!"
"Doesn’t matter,” said Tess "even if we can't actually prove anything in court the press would just eat this story up. Middle aged dirty-minded boss sexually harassing young female underling to the point of tears. Sounds like something straight from the Lifetime Channel doesn’t it? I bet it'll be the front page of every paper, magazine and news TV show from here to the end of time. What do you think YOUR boss will have to say about all that future bad press Mr. Green?"
Everyone in the room turned their eyes toward Liz's boss.
"Officer...I....uhhhh changed my mind I don't wish to press charges against these men."
"Are you sure?" asked the officer.
"Yes” nodded Liz's boss as he started to make his way out of the room. But as he got close to Tess she stepped out in front of him.
"One last thing Mr. Green," From this moment on you no longer go near Liz alone, you no longer talk to her unless there is someone of her own sex in the room with you and you no longer under any circumstance EVER put your hands on her. Because if you do I will have you brought up on charges and sued so fast you'll think you were run over by a city bus!"
Everyone in the room was quiet for a second before an in awe Kyle said.
"Wow...I think I love you."
Tess turned to smile brightly at Kyle and winked at him before turning back to Liz's boss.
"Did I make myself clear?"
"Yes...yes" was all the man said as he quickly ran out of the room.
“Kyle Valenti and Max Evans," the head cop stood up and gathered his papers" You heard the man you’re free to go. The charges have been dropped.” With that all the cops left the room leaving Kyle, Tess and Max there alone.
"Baby you're the best!" Kyle smiled brightly as he grabbed a giggling Tess in a giant bear hug.
Once outside Kyle looked up at the sky and breathed in deep.
“It amazing how you take your freedom for granted” Turning towards Tess he pulled her in close nuzzling against her ear. “you have no idea how hard it was in the joint. We need to hurry home …I’ve been without a woman for too long!”
Laughing as they walked off Tess kisses his cheek playfully. “Kyle you were only in there for two hours…not twenty years.”
Spotting Liz standing on the police station steps with her arms folded in front of her Max slowly walked towards her.
“I told you I would handle this, you almost got me fired, really Max I would expect something like this from Kyle, but not you.”
Looking up at him as if they were strangers Liz shook her head as disappointed tears formed in her eyes
“I have to go, I’ll talk to you later Max.”
Watching her walk away was devastating, but the cold tone of her voice was much worse.
Feeling as if he had really compromised her trust and let her down, Max was lost.
“I’m sorry Liz.”
His whisper was for his own benefit knowing that it would take much more to win back her faith in him.
“It amazing how you take your freedom for granted” Turning towards Tess he pulled her in close nuzzling against her ear. “you have no idea how hard it was in the joint. We need to hurry home …I’ve been without a woman for too long!”
Laughing as they walked off Tess kisses his cheek playfully. “Kyle you were only in there for two hours…not twenty years.”
Spotting Liz standing on the police station steps with her arms folded in front of her Max slowly walked towards her.
“I told you I would handle this, you almost got me fired, really Max I would expect something like this from Kyle, but not you.”
Looking up at him as if they were strangers Liz shook her head as disappointed tears formed in her eyes
“I have to go, I’ll talk to you later Max.”
Watching her walk away was devastating, but the cold tone of her voice was much worse.
Feeling as if he had really compromised her trust and let her down, Max was lost.
“I’m sorry Liz.”
His whisper was for his own benefit knowing that it would take much more to win back her faith in him.
