Title: Game of Love
Author: Emz80m
Disclaimer: Roswell and it’s characters aren’t mine I’m just borrowing them.
Category: M/L
Rating: ADULT

Summery: Liz, Max, Michael, and Maria are the Roswell Aliens. Liz, Michael, and Maria live in Roswell but Max grew up in Albuquerque.

Maria and Liz have always known each other and that they are both different. The Parkers adopted Liz, and Amy Deluca adopted Maria, Amy is now married to Jim Valenti (yes Kyle is her step but he’s not really in this story).

They find out about Michael when he starts working at the bar “The Crash” that Liz and Maria joint own and both girls are drawn to him.

The Evan’s adopted Max after he was found in the dessert in Roswell. Isabel is still his sister but she is not an alien. He moves to Roswell to run the local gym his parents bought for him and hoping to find the answers to his past. (Think rich and cocky)

Enter the truth to their pasts but will the answers be the one’s that they’re looking for? And will their friendships survive the Game of Love?

Prologue

Liz had an unsettling feeling in her stomach this morning as she drove towards her gym. She had been going there every morning now for the past six months to work out until yesterday when she signed up for some personal training. Her life was stressful but she knew how important it was for her to not only be mentally prepared if her enemies ever showed up that she also needed to be physically prepared.

Pulling the car into her usual parking spot Liz noticed a few cars that she didn’t normally see this early. It was 7am and most the people in Roswell were either still in bed like her best friend and her on again off again boyfriend, or at work.

Her attention was particularly drawn to a beautiful black Jeep. It looked brand new and she didn’t remember ever seeing anything like it in Roswell at all which worried her a little bit, it was the kind of dark and mysterious car like FBI agents drove around in. Or maybe it could be the new owners she thought to herself.

“Enough with the paranoia Liz” she said to herself as she entered the front doors of the gym.

“Good morning.” She greeted the girl sitting at the front desk “My names Liz Parker and I signed up for a personal trainer yesterday?”

“Liz is it?” a voice asked from behind her.

Liz turned around and came face to face with the most gorgeous man she had ever seen. He had brown hair, which was longish and fell around his face and a five o’clock shadow, which made him look roguish and sexy. Her eyes traveled down his body then and she noticed with delight that he was toned and tanned as well, and even further down she almost gasped when she saw he was packing a fair bit as well. But it was his eyes that drew her in the most, she felt as though she knew him from somewhere. She knew that she wanted to know him badly and there was a pull towards him, which almost took her breath away.

“Hi” she smiled offering her hand. Oh god she had to touch him, she thought.

The man smirked at her, he caught her perusal of his body and he was happy he had made a good first impression, she was better looking that he had ever dreamed. Long brown hair tied high on her head, perfect skin, and large breasts with the tiniest waist he had ever seen and legs that went on for days. Why did she need a personal trainer again? He thought.

His eyes met hers then and he felt all the air in his lungs race out. She wasn’t just a beauty she was his beauty he thought. Everything in his body human and alien told him that his women was his and right then he vowed to himself that she would be again.

“Max Evans” he grinned. He had a feeling this was the start of a wonderful ’friendship’.

TBC........ I know it's extremely short so if your nice i might update again soon. What do you think?

Hello people :D Ok firstly can i say a massive thank you for your feedback. That prologue was short which is why I'm back with Part 1 but the posting night for Game of Love will be Tuesdays.

Secondly, I want to make it very clear (that way i avoid bitchy pm's  ) that this fic does involce som UC scenes between Michael and Liz and is also not always favourable to Michael's character. I reserve the right to write Michael that way since this is an AU fic and except for characters not based on the show. I appreciate that many readers who are Michael fans will read this and i hope you can stick with my story, if not i understand.

And now that i have the unpleasent part out of the way lastly Liz and her big breasts :o . So i'm not sure about all of you but i always thought the aliens were all pretty hot and perfect, espeically Isabel. So my Liz has had some changes made to her to make her more alien like in appearance. She is a little taller and a bit more volumptuos to fit it with the others. I personally think Shiri/Liz is beautiful but for the sake of this fic I've given her a bit of plastic surgery

Wow, yet another fic by Emma. The story sounds interesting; I'd love to read the next part. I'm wondering why this story is in the AA though... is it very angsty or should be expect everybody to be killed or something? Anyway, keep it up but don't don't neglect your other fics.
Drogyn - it's on AA because of the UC pairing of Michael and Liz throughout parts of the story. Also, i have no plans to abandon my other fics, i have a posting schedule and its not unusual for me to have 4 fics going LOL

Part 1

“Babe where are you going?” Michael asked as Liz hopped out of the bed and started to pull her clothes back on.

Liz looked over at the bed and looked at Michael’s questioning gaze, didn’t he know by now that she didn’t stay the night, that she didn’t want to be so involved? Why did they have to go through this every time? She asked herself sadly.

“Home. I have a training session at the gym early tomorrow morning” she explained.

“The gym? You don’t need to go there you look hot already,” he told her with a smile, reaching out and trying to drag her back to him.

“Stop it” Liz snapped pulling back from him. “Just because I might look in shape doesn’t mean that I am. I want to be prepared in case anything ever happens” she told him, pulling and zipping up her hip hugging jeans.

“Fine come back to bed and I’ll go with you in the morning” Michael sighed.

It was the same thing every time he was with Liz. She would find one excuse or another not to be with him or to stay the night. At first he had thought she was scared or uncertain but they had been seeing each other or rather sleeping together, as she preferred to call it, for more than six months now and it wasn’t getting any better or easier for that matter.

“No I’d prefer to go home to my own apartment and my own bed,” she told him throwing on her last shoe and picking up her bag.

“Liz” he said halting her movements. She was standing at the bedroom door with her hand on the handle. He wanted to ask her how she found it so easy to walk away, to not feel but he knew that was a bad idea.

“Yeah?” she asked looking back over at him and for a minute he almost thought she looked sorry for the way she was acting but it disappeared just as quickly.

Michael shook his head “nothing, just drive safe ok” he whispered out and with a final nod Liz walked out.

On her way to the car Liz felt bad about the way she had just acted but the truth was she didn’t know how to stop. She felt trapped. Completely and utterly trapped in a situation that she didn’t see any way out of. Everyone expected her to be happy about it, Maria constantly yelled at her for treating him so badly but she couldn’t bring herself to stop. Liz wasn’t stupid, she knew that her best friend was in love with Michael and sometimes even suspected he might have felt the same way but every time she had tried to talk to them about it they both fobbed her off insisting that it was destiny for her and Michael to be together.

Liz Parker was no ordinary girl, she never has been. Her parents adopted her at the age of six, the same time her best friend Maria had been adopted by Amy Deluca.

Liz and Maria were reunited at the orphanage; they remembered the day they had been found. They had been wandering the dessert with a boy when car lights scared him and he ran off. Nancy and Jeff Parker had been behind the wheel of the car and had taken Liz and Maria with them never realizing they had left someone behind.

Liz had struggled with them at first not wanting to leave, knowing that something was missing from her life. Something had called out to her and begged her not to leave and she had always believed that it was the little boy. Her and Maria talked about it as they got older and drew the conclusion that Liz was right and that it was the boy that was missing, that he was somehow connected to Liz, he was important. Maria didn’t really remember him so she had never experienced the feeling of emptiness like her best friend.

Weeks later the Parkers returned and chose the small brunette girl to be their daughter whilst their friend Amy took Maria. They had always known that there was something different about their children, always trying hard to protect them and keep their lives as normal as possible so that they didn’t draw suspicion. They weren’t exactly sure until one day they saw Liz and Maria changing the colors of their Barbie’s clothes, what made their daughters so different.

“It doesn’t match the shoes” Maria whined to her best friend referring to the dress that she was putting on her Barbie.

“Change it” Liz replied simply with a shrug.

Nancy and Amy who had been sharing a coffee in the kitchen stood in awe as the small girl waved her hand and changed the colour of the dress to the same pink that her shoes already were, seconds later Liz did the same thing to her own dolls dress.

No Liz Parker and Maria Deluca weren’t ordinary girls.

All through their schooling years Maria and Liz shared a friendship that most other girls envied. They were as close as friends could be, there were no secrets between them considering the biggest secret that they both could share was the one that made them the same and brought them together in the first place.

Maria was a fiery blonde with green eyes who always had 'a don’t mess with me' attitude. She stuck up for her best friend and always stood by her side in everything that she did. To people standing on the outside gazing in on the friendship it was clear that Liz was a leader of sorts and Maria followed her happily and without question.

Liz was a petite brunette with big doe brown eyes that lit up her face. Her skin was a tanned bronze and her features were ageless and graceful just as her personality. Liz never spoke down about anyone and was kind to everyone as well, it was the reason why without trying Liz had become the most popular girl in school along with Maria and was chased by every guy she ever met.

Liz and Maria’s auras demanded respect and they were given it, but the love the two shared for each other was always obvious and many tried to share in it. They were never successful though.

A secret may have brought them together but their friendship kept them together.

***

A lonely boy watched as the two girls grew to be beautiful women, he longed to join them sensing that they belonged together. His attraction to them both was strong but something demanded that his attention be focused on the brunette at all times. He shared a class or two with the blonde but they never spoke, he longed to reach out to her but the fear of rejection was always too much.

He remembered the day he was found in the dessert, he had lost the two little girls he felt a connection to because he was scared, in the end he had been found by another loving couple Hank and Felicity Guerin, who had taken him with them without hesitation. He had to stay in an orphanage for a short time but eventually the lady who had told him she would be his mummy came back for him.

“Hi there sweetie! Do you remember me?” she had asked him. At first he hadn’t been able to understand her or respond but during the week in the orphanage he had been able to copy the other children and now understood what he was meant to do. He longed to return back to the dessert though, he wasn’t sure why but he felt as though he had left something important behind him.

***

Liz and Maria met Michael when he applied for a job as a bartender at The Crash. After high school Liz had gone to university in Las Cruses and got a degree in business, her parents decided to semi retire then and do some traveling so Liz with Maria’s help transformed the other half of the Crashdown into a trendy bar.

Michael had hit the road after he graduated traveling for some of the answers he was looking for. He didn’t find anything accept for a silver book that he wasn’t able to open. He decided to return to Roswell and approach Liz and Maria knowing he should have done it years ago, he knew they were like him and wondered why they hadn’t been drawn to him like he was too them.

After getting the job at the bar Michael waited for the perfect opportunity to talk to Maria or Liz. He had a strange relationship with Maria, they fought and bantered a lot and soon became good friends. Liz was different though, he was very attracted to her and got nervous whenever she was around and Liz wasn’t as forward as Maria in talking to him.

But all that changed when one night when he thought he was alone he used his powers to clean the glasses and that was when everything was revealed.

Liz gasped when she saw Michael wave his hands over the glasses and leave them sparkling clean.

“Oh my god you’re an alien” she said.

Michael turned toward her startled at the sound of her voice; he had thought he was all alone. He scratched his forehead and smiled “yeah I’ve been kind of waiting for the perfect opportunity to tell you” he said.

“Y-You have, why?” she asked shocked.

Michael raised an eyebrow at her and smirked which told Liz that he already knew all about her.

“How?” she asked.

Michael nodded “I’ve always known” he told her.

“Why didn’t you say something?” Liz demanded hurt that he had hid from them for so long “we thought something had happened to you, we were worried about you” she shouted tears coming to her eyes “for all we knew you were left in the dessert to die”

“Hey” Michael said stepping forward and taking her into his arms “I’m sorry I just, I didn’t know how to approach you” he told her.

Liz cried against his chest in relief before puling back to look at him. “I can’t believe we finally found you” she smiled.

“Yeah I feel like I’ve waited forever to tell you the truth” he whispered drawn to her lips.

Liz saw where he was looking and felt the heat of his stare, she couldn’t deny that she was attracted to him, she had dated casually through high school but neither she or Maria had ever gone very far with guys because they had always worried about what would happen.

Liz’s pink tongue poked out of her mouth and licked her suddenly dry lips then and that was all the invitation that Michael required.

Michael leaned in and caressed her lips with his softly, when Liz didn’t object he pulled her closer to his body and kissed her harder.

Liz moaned into Michael’s mouth and he took the opportunity to sneak his tongue into her mouth.

“Your gorgeous” he whispered when he pulled back.

Liz blushed. She wasn’t sure how they had ended up kissing.

“God I have to tell Maria” she smiled then “she’s going to be so excited”

Michael smirked knowing exactly what Liz meant. Maria got excited over everything.

“What are you doing tomorrow?” Liz asked him.

“Sleeping but other than that nothing until my shift starts” he told her trying to pull her back to him for another kiss. He couldn’t remember how many times he had dreamed about having her in his arms, about kissing her.

Liz allowed him to plunder her mouth again and she wrapped her arms around his neck as he pushed her against the wall so he could gain access to her body. He ran his hands up the sides of her tight shirt and brushed over the sides of her breasts, when Liz moaned he moved his hands back down and cupped her.

“Michael” she sighed as he rubbed her nipples in circles.

What am I doing? She thought to herself as she allowed him to kiss her neck and begin dragging her shirt up her body.

“You feel so good” he cooed in her ear as he covered her naked breasts with his hand now.

Oh god I have to stop, she told herself as his hands slid into her small shorts and underneath her panties, he stroked her wet heat with a finger before dipping it inside of her “oh fuck Liz your so wet” he moaned in her ear. Pleased that he had provoked such a strong reaction from her.

“M-Michael” she said meaning for it to come out as a protest but instead it sounded like a breathy moan and only encouraged him on. Before Liz knew what was happening her shorts and panties had hit the floor and she was being lifted onto the kitchen table.

“Do you know how long I’ve wanted to do this?” Michael whispered as he released his hard cock from the confines of his jeans and began rubbing the tip of the mushroom head against Liz’s opening.

“Oh fuck” Liz moaned, the feel of his cock penetrating her was too much and she came instantly.

Michael slid all the way inside of her then oblivious to her shriek of pain when he thrust through her barrier.

“Oh god Liz you feel so good” he moaned as he pumped in and out of her.

Liz held on for dear life as he slid in and out of her, it felt so good but something inside of her screamed that it was wrong.

“Oh god Liz, yes…………….ahh LIZ” he screamed out as he came inside of her.

He kissed her lips sweetly as he slid out of her body “that was better than I dreamed” he told her with a smile and Liz was helpless but to smile back, she couldn’t tell him that she thought it was a mistake when it was obvious it had meant so much to him.

“Yeah” she replied her gaze dropping to her hands in her lap.

“That was your first time wasn’t it?” he said then suddenly regretting the rough way and the location in which he took her.

Liz nodded “but it was nice” she lied but Michael appeared to have bought it.

“Liz there’s something else I should tell you,” he said to her then. Liz stopped and waited expectantly for him to speak.

“I-I have this book, it’s about us,” he told her then.

“What?” Liz’s eyes widened.

“I cant read it or open it but on the front there is a picture of you and me” he whispered, “I think that maybe we were meant for each other”

Part 2

Max had been lonely when he emerged from his pod and found that the other pods were empty. He hatched almost three months after the others and his heart immediately ached when he pressed his hand against the pod next to him and couldn’t connect with her. He missed her so much, he had sensed her when she left her pod and he had called out for her to wait, he knew she had tried to stay in her pod for as long as she could but the others had hatched and were waiting for her too.

Max had been picked up by Phillip and Dianne Evans, who were lawyers in Albuquerque, they already had a six year old daughter Isabel but were unable to have more children so had happily taken Max into their home.

They had sensed straight away that there was something different about their son, it wasn’t a normal occurrence for a child to be found covered in a gooey substance in the dessert so they took him home and Phillip used some of his connections to get fake papers for him.

Max had a happy life though his parents and Isabel accepted him freely so he was able to embrace his alien side and to learn to use his powers. He was close with his sister but he had always felt as though something was missing and the worst part was that he knew exactly what it was which made it all the harder. He would lie awake some nights just thinking about her. He had no idea what she looked like or where she was but he knew that she was out there somewhere and most likely waiting for him to come and find her. Sometimes he got angry with her because she had left him. He knew it wasn’t fair to feel that way, that it wasn’t really her fault but he missed her so badly.

After high school Max was accepted to the university in Las Cruses where he spent four years getting his law degree. When he graduated his father had hoped he would come to work at the family firm. Initially that was exactly what he wanted to do as well but after giving it some thought he decided he wasn’t ready to start working straight away. So instead of going to work he enrolled in a physical fitness course and gained a certificate and when he found out that the gym in Roswell was for sale he begged his parents to buy it.

So here he was in Roswell. Max had hoped by moving back to the town he was found in that he might find some of the answers to his past but he never in his wildest dreams ever believed that it would be as easy as it appeared to be. Because now he had found Liz and he knew she was the girl he had been looking for his entire life.

***

Liz almost collapsed against the steering wheel when she got back into her car after her first training session with the Greek Adonis, her new nickname for the gorgeous Max. They had spent the first half of the morning going over what Liz wanted to achieve out of the training sessions and Max explaining how they were going to achieve it.

But then it turned personal very quickly.

“So Liz, I’ve have to tell you that you already look extremely good so I’m a little curious as to why you would be worried about getting into shape” he told her.

“Thank you” she grinned enjoying the compliment a whole lot more than she should “but I think I could look better” she told him.

“So is there any particular area other than fitness that you want to work on or to tone?” he asked.

Liz didn’t know what came over her but she grabbed his hand and placed it very high up on the inside of her thigh “What are these muscles here called?” she asked him. Oh my god was she flirting with him, she thought.

“Adductors” Max smiled at her but he didn’t remove his hand instead he used his other hand to part her legs further “They feel pretty toned to me,” he told her.

“But I think I know a couple of good exercises that we could get you doing regularly to build them up a little more” he told her and if she wasn’t mistaken his voice sounded very husky.

“I bet you do” she smirked at him.

Max brought her into a smaller room that was filled with gym equipment then, a room that Liz hadn’t seen before “It’s a private training room” he lied. It was his private gym, which was normally off limits to everyone else but he wanted Liz all to himself and he would use any means necessary to get his way.

He instructed her to use the treadmill then and watched mesmerized as her breasts bounced up and down for the next ten minutes and found that he constantly had to shift to rearrange his very hard cock. This didn’t go unnoticed by Liz either who was having a nice time watching his already massive package get bigger.

“So your knew to the area?” Liz asked when she finished. She knew she hadn’t seen him around town before and Roswell was a very small town.

“Yeah just moved here last week,” he grinned.

“Where from?”

“Albuquerque, my parents and sister are still there,” he said moving close to her and encouraging her to bend into the stretch that she was doing.

Liz shivered at the feel of his body against her back, she wanted to turn around and jump him, she had never in her life had such a strong reaction to a man before.

“So Liz what about you?”

“Me?”

“Yeah are you from Roswell originally? What you do?” he asked huskily not taking a step back from the close proximity. He wanted to know everything about her and then he would use that information to plan his attack against her.

“Oh yeah lived here all my life, I co-own a bar called The Crash” she added nervously, her heart was beating a mile a minute and he must have been able to hear it, she thought.

Max smirked. So she owned the alien bar on Main Street, fitting he thought.

“I’ll have to drop by sometime” he whispered then.

“Yeah you should” she turned her head and replied just as huskily.

It had continued on like that for next half an hour, them swapping not so innocent questions about the each others personal life and Liz was ashamed to admit that when Max had asked was she single her mouth opened and told him yes before her head could catch up.

Her and Michael weren’t exactly what she would call dating, yes they were sleeping together and he liked to believe she belonged to him because of their supposed alien destinies but more and more Liz was tiring of the whole thing. Michael didn’t fulfill her the way he had when they first hooked up anymore, the sex was out of this world because they were both aliens but even that wasn’t enough for Liz because no alien sex had ever made her hotter, hornier or wetter than Max Evans just had by touching her.

“You ok” she was startled and when she looked up she saw Max Evans’s grinning face again peeking in her window.

“I didn’t tire you out did I?” he asked with a smirk.

The truth was he had headed straight for a cold shower in his personal office where he jerked off to the thought of her the minute she had left. That was ten minutes ago now he was headed back to his apartment when he had seen Liz sitting in her car looking as flustered as he had felt and he couldn’t resist going over to talk to her again.

Liz couldn’t help but smile back at him. She already thought that he was absolutely gorgeous but now looking at his face close up she was able to see how truly magnificent he was.

“You did work me pretty hard” she finally replied.

Max chuckled “today was nothing you just wait and see what I’ve got planned for you tomorrow”

“Really?”

“Yeah I plan on putting those adductors of yours to work” he said his eyes trailing down to her slightly parted thighs.

Liz blushed red as his gaze swept her body.

“So this bar of yours do you have food?” he asked surprising her with his complete 180.

“Um the café next door does I own it too” she replied.

“Wow a bar and a café they must keep you busy?”

“Yeah they do,” she said.

“Too busy to stop and grab something to eat with me if I drop in sometime?” he asked with a hopeful smile.

“No never that busy” she smiled back.

“Good maybe I might drop by some time” he said.

“You should” Liz grinned.

Max nodded and took a step back then “see you tomorrow Liz”

“Bye Max”

He began walking backwards towards his car then only taking his eyes of Liz at the last minute and he couldn’t help but grin at the fact that she was still sitting there watching him leave.

***

Liz sighed when she pulled up in the alleyway next to the Crashdown and bar. The Crashdown was already open and she could see from the crowd already spilling out the doors that it was going to be a busy day.

Since her parents retired and left her the business she had made Jose the manager so she could concentrate more on The Crash Bar but she knew that there was no way Jose would be able to handle the crowd today with the few waitresses scheduled on which meant either her or Maria would end up waiting tables.

Maria was sipping on a cup of coffee and reading the paper when Liz walked into the apartment that they shared.

“Hey how was the session?” she asked.

Liz grinned at the reminder of Max. “Great” she said. “The Crashdown is absolutely packed so I think one of us is going to have to work down there today” she informed her.

Maria groaned, “Bags it not being me,” she said.

“Well I’m supposed to work the bar tonight with Michael so if you’re happy to do my shift there I’ll work today” Liz compromised. Normally she would do whatever she could to get out of working at The Crashdown but lately she found herself doing whatever she could to get out of spending time with Michael as well and right now she would prefer to work a day at The Crashdown.

“Deal” Maria smiled.

Secretly she loved the idea of spending time with Michael. She knew she should feel bad about the way she felt about him. Michael was after all Liz’s boyfriend but Maria couldn’t help the way she felt. For as long as she had known Michael she had loved him and she only wished that Michael had never found that blasted book that said him and Liz were supposed to be together.

Maria wasn’t stupid she knew that Liz didn’t have any real feelings for Michael. The only reason she was even with him was because Michael gave her no choice. Liz had tried to break it off with him a few times but Michael just kept his hold on her insisting that she belonged to him and it was the way it was meant to be.

It seemed wrong to Maria on so many levels that Liz was unhappy because of a destiny she didn’t want yet Maria wished that it was her destiny everyday.

“Ok well I’m going to grab a shower and something to eat and then I’ll head down. Do you think you go down and let Jose know?” she asked Maria.

Liz smiled as she watched Maria get up and head for the door. She remembered it as clearly as it was yesterday the day that she and Michael had told Maria about Michael being an alien and the book he found. She didn’t think she would ever forget the look of devastation on her best friends face when Michael had told her that he believed that Liz was his destined mate. It was at that very moment that Liz realized her best friend was in love with him.

After that Liz had done everything she could to end things with Michael hoping that if he realized she wasn’t interested that he would turn to Maria but Michael wouldn’t relent and eventually Liz had no choice but to admit to Maria about sleeping with him.

Liz knew that that very piece of knowledge had broken her friends heart and she had never been able to forgive herself. It was only because of Maria that she tried to make things work with Michael in the first place.

“Ria” she called out to her just before she disappeared through the door.

“Yeah?” Maria smiled.

“Thanks”

Maria seemed surprised that she was thanking her “What for?”

“For being you, for always being here for me” she said.

“There’s no me without you babe,” Maria said seriously.

“And there’s no me without you” Liz added, it was something they had started in junior high after people had started commenting about the amount of time they spent with each other.

With a final smile Maria disappeared through the door then Liz went into her bedroom for a shower.

Part 3

The next morning Liz was the gym bright and early for her session with Max. One thing she couldn’t deny was that he was a mighty fine motivation for getting your ass out of bed and into shape.

“Morning Liz,” he whispered as he crept up behind her.

Liz jumped at the sound of his voice. She was just thinking about him and what he would look like underneath the small amount of clothing he wore. She licked her lips as she took in his appearance to day. He was wearing a loose singlet top that showed off every one of his muscles in his arms and a pair of short work out shorts that showed off his muscled legs.

“Morning,” she finally replied.

Max was having similar thoughts to Liz. He was distracted by the way her pink tongue darted out of her mouth and licked her red lips. Today she was wearing a pair of hot pants and a sports bra, her nipples were pressed against the fabric making him want to reach out and caress them.

“Should we get started?” he asked huskily.

“Sounds good,” Liz replied trying to avoid his eyes so that he would be able to tell how effected she was by him.

Max led them back into his private gym and instructed her to start her warm up on the bike. Deciding that he needed something to take his mind off her and his eyes off her beautiful body Max began walking on the treadmill along side her at the same time.

“So how are things going with the gym, are you fairly busy?” Liz asked trying to make conversation to cover the awkward silence in the room.

“Pretty good so far so I mostly just do personal training and bookwork,” he informed her.

“Oh ok,” she smiled.

“Ok once you’re done there move on to the treadmill and after that we’ll start working on your weights and strength routine,” he suggested as he hopped off the treadmill so she could use it.

“Thanks,” she smiled as she brushed past him.

“Your welcome,” he smiled back.

Since he started the personal trailing component of the gym he had gained a couple of customers but none of them were as enjoyable as the luscious Liz. It made the early morning worthwhile for him where he would normally prefer to say tucked in bed.

Liz spent the next 20 minutes running on the treadmill before she moved onto the weights and once she had worked through the routine Max had suggested she waited for his next instructions.

“Ok I want you to do some lunges,” he told her as he demonstrated to her how to do it properly. “It will hurt like hell for a while but if you persist with them everyday you’ll start to see results in your abductors.”

“Great,” Liz smiled as she began to mimic his movements.

When Max saw that she wasn’t doing them properly he walked behind her and placed his hands high on the insides of her thighs to demonstrate where she should feel the muscle working.

Liz had to bite back a moan at the way his hand caressed her leg “You know some people have said that this is great for your sex life,” he whispered against her ear “if you contract the muscles in your vagina at the same time Liz it will strengthen the muscles.”

“Oh god,” Liz sighed as his hands pushed up higher on her naked skin.

“Does that feel good?” he asked a smirk on his face as he watched how effected she was by his actions.

“Yes,” Liz moaned.

“Can you feel your muscles working hard?”

“Very,” she confirmed.

“Good try switching legs now. You should try to aim for 100 on each leg every day,” he told her as he finally moved away from her before he lost the last thread of control he had.

Liz took in a deep breath she wasn’t sure whether she was glad he moved away or not. She had been so close to loosing control and turning around and kissing him it hadn’t been funny.

After the session was over and Liz was packing up her things Max wandered over and took a seat in front of her “You working tonight?” he asked.

Liz bit her lip it was actually her night off but she usually ended up down in the bar anyway because that’s where Michael and Maria were “No I actually work this afternoon,” she informed him.

“I thought I might come by and get something to eat and stop by this bar of yours tonight,” he informed her.

Liz smiled. “Good I’m sure you’ll love it,” she told him.

“Me too but I would probably have a better time if I didn’t have to eat or drink alone,” he said grinning.

“Your probably right,” she agreed.

“So if your not working and your not busy what do you say to joining me?” he asked. He could tell that she was attracted to him; hell she practically screamed that she was hot for him.

“Sure,” she smiled and replied before she could stop herself. What the hell was she thinking? She couldn’t go on a date with Max to her bar, the bar that Michael her kind of boyfriend would be working at. But then she realized that this was Michael’s night off. There was some big hockey game on that he didn’t want to miss so he had asked to be scheduled off weeks ago, so that meant Kyle was working tonight.

“What time?” she asked.

“Seven?” he suggested.

“Sounds good so I’ll just meet you there,” she suggested.

“I could pick you up?” he offered. He wanted this to be like a real date and as far as he was concerned that involved picking her up and hopefully not dropping her home until the next morning.

Liz giggled “Well you could try but it would be a little hard considering I live there.”

“Oh,” he said embarrassed.

“Don’t worry about it. I mean it’s not a normal occurrence for someone to live upstairs of their place of work. So how about I meet you downstairs, I’ll reserve us the best table in the place?”

“Sounds good,” he told her.

***

Liz waited until Maria had gone downstairs to start her shift before she began running around trying to get ready. She knew that Maria would want an explanation as to who Max was and why she was out with him later that night but she would deal with that later.

She rummaged through her wardrobe trying to find the perfect outfit. So far Max had only ever seen her in the gym gear that she wore for their sessions. She pulled out a nice little black dress that she had bought but tossed it aside as too dressy. After pulling almost every piece of clothing that she owned out of her wardrobe she finally decided on a pair of very tight low cut jeans with a trendy belt and a red satin tank top.

Liz took her time showering, washing her hair and shaving her legs. It was unusual for her to have a Friday night off and even more unusual for her to have a date. Liz and Michael never went anywhere together. He would never ask and she never organized it because truthfully she didn’t want to.

At ten to seven she stood in front of the mirror and smiled at the way she looked. She had used her powers to dry and curl her hair slightly so it was now cascading down her back. Her makeup was subtle and natural except for the dark eyeliner she wore to bring out her eyes and her clothes were perfect. Not too dressy and not too casual. She pulled on her black boots then, which added a good 3 inches to her height.

For the final touch she added some chunky jewelry and dabbed on some j’dore.

“Here goes nothing,” she sighed as she shoved her house key into her pocket and made her way downstairs.

***

Max smiled as he entered the small restaurant. He couldn’t believe that his alien queen was the owner of an alien themed restaurant and bar.

“Can I help you sir?” a waitress approached him and asked and Max had to bite back a chuckle as he noticed her aqua uniform and bobbing headband.

“Um I’m actually meeting Liz Parker,” he informed her.

“Oh well she’s not down yet but she did reserve that table over there,” Tiffany informed him.

Max looked down and checked his appearance one last time before he moved towards the table. He had decided on a pair of dark blue jeans and a black dress shirt, which he left un-tucked.

He was just about to take a seat when the back door to the restaurant opened and in breezed the most beautiful creature he had ever laid eyes on. If he thought she was stunning in her gym gear it was nothing to what he was thinking about as he saw her walking towards him. Liz was absolutely stunning and her appearance made him feel weak in the knees.

“You made it,” she smiled being sure to keep her eyes on his face and not on how good he looked in jeans and that black shirt.

“Yeah,” he nodded however his eyes couldn’t stop themselves from roaming her body and features.

“You look amazing,” he said without thinking and his comment caused Liz to blush.

“Thank you,” she whispered, “you scrub up pretty nice yourself,” she informed him in a husky voice.

“Can I get you something to drink?” she asked then getting ready to make her way towards the bar but Max reached out and grabbed her hand stopping her from leaving.

“Let a waitress do that,” he whispered trying to ignore the sparks he felt when their hands joined and wondered if she had felt anything from him. “It’s your night off isn’t it?” he grinned.

Liz let him pull her into the booth in the seat opposite him. “Yeah it is,” she replied.

“Good so lets enjoy it.”

Liz nodded and then signaled for one of the waitresses to come over.

“So this place is interesting,” Max commented looking around. “Do you wear the uniform when you work here?” he asked wiggling his eyebrows suggestively and if the answer was yes he planned on making it his business to be here every time she worked.

Liz giggled, “I used to when my dad still ran the place but now I pull seniority and refuse.”

“Wow that’s a shame,” he told her sitting back in his chair and eyeing her.

“Why do you say that?”

“Because you’d look hot in that dress.”

They enjoyed a wonderful dinner then, Max not able to get over how good a Will Smith burger and space fries were.

“Want to move next door now?” Liz suggested.

“Sure,” he smiled. He retrieved his wallet then intending on paying their bill but Liz laughed at him and pulled his hand away.

“Max we don’t have to pay I own this place remember?” she told him.

“Still I did ask you to join me for diner. I can’t let you pay,” he told her.

Liz smiled. Sweet and cute she couldn’t help but think.

“You can buy me a drink,” she suggested. The truth was Liz was unable to drink so when Max ordered their drinks she new Maria would make hers non-alcoholic.

“Sure but I should warn you that I don’t drink” he told them as they began walking next door.

“Really?” she said shocked. “Me either,” she admitted then.

Max laughed, “then how am I supposed to buy you a drink?”

“Mock tails?” she suggested.

“Sounds good,” he agreed.

The Crash was relatively busy but Liz had thought ahead and reserved them a small table away from the bar. She didn’t want Maria watching her all night.

Max smirked when she led him to the table. “Glad I know the owner,” he winked.

“Yeah, Fridays nights are fairly busy,” she informed him.

Max hopped up and went to the bar to grab them some drinks then and when they were done Liz insisted on getting the next round.

“Hey chica what are you doing here?” Maria asked her when she approached.

“Um I’m just here with a friend,” she shrugged and at that exact moment the crowd cleared and Maria had a perfect view of Max.

“You don’t mean the hottie at that table do you?” she asked shocked.

Liz nodded. “Yeah that’s Max, my new trainer at the gym,” she said.

Maria studied her friend then and could tell that he wasn’t just a trainer. She was angry that Liz was doing this to Michael but on the other side of things she felt sorry for Liz because she clearly didn’t love Michael but was forced to be with him because of a stupid book.

Maria got the drinks for her then. “Is he nice?” she asked.

“Yeah,” Liz smiled still avoiding her gaze. “He’s new and doesn’t know anyone,” she tried to explain.

“Oh well maybe you could set me up with him?” Maria teased.

“What! No,” Liz refused before she could stop herself but as soon as she saw Maria’s knowing smirk she knew that she had been caught out.

“Tonight you and me are going to talk over ice cream,” Maria said.

Liz nodded and then returned to Max.

Part 4

“Ok so spill,” Maria said as she walked into Liz’s room and sat down on bed before she offered her the tub of ice cream she had brought with her.

Liz sighed. “There’s nothing to tell. Max is my trainer and he’s new to Roswell. I was just being nice,” she said.

“No one is just nice to a hot specimen like that, especially you,” Maria replied eyebrows raised.

Liz scoffed. “So he’s hot,” she said stabbing her spoon into the ice cream. “It’s not like it matters anyway.”

Maria saw the look on her best friends face. “You like him don’t you?”

Liz looked up sadly. “Yeah I guess. He’s really nice and I’m very attracted to him,” she admitted.

They sat in silence for a while as they both ate their ice cream and contemplated the situation.

“Destiny sucks,” Maria finally blurted out and Liz could do nothing but laugh at her.

“You’re not fucking wrong. I mean how fucked up are we. I’m with a guy I don’t love or want, and you want said guy but because of some stupid book neither of us can be happy.”

Maria gasped, “How did you know?” She had thought she had done a pretty good job at keeping her feelings for Michael to herself. So she was shocked that Liz had realized.

Liz laughed, “Maria we’ve been best friends since the pod, you can’t hide that from me. And I want you to know that had I known I would never have let anything happen that night with Michael. Maybe if I’d been stronger and told him no then we wouldn’t be in this situation,” she sighed.

Maria shrugged, “Maybe I guess we’ll never know”

***

Liz was nervous as she entered the gym the following Monday. She wasn’t sure if Max thought Friday night had been a date or not. Truthfully she had done nothing but think about him all weekend. She had been lucky enough that she had been able to avoid a lot of contact with Michael. He worked Saturday night at the bar while she worked in the Crashdown and on Sunday her and Maria had done some shopping. She knew that it wouldn’t last forever. Michael had needs and he felt that he could use her to relieve them whenever he wanted too.

Liz couldn’t deny that sex between them was good. But she also believed that it could be so much better if you were with someone you actually wanted to have sex with. ‘Like Max’ she thought to herself. She wondered what it would feel like to have his strong arms wrapped around her while he thrust inside her body with what she was sure would be an impressive sized cock.

Max on the other hand couldn’t wait to see Liz. Their date on Friday night had gone very well but he had decided not to push the friendship to fast so he hadn’t put the moves on Liz yet. He had gone home to Albuquerque for the weekend to see his family and when he told them that he believed he had found “her” they had all been excited for him and insisted that as soon as things were worked out that he bring her home. He had thought about Liz all weekend and had even been tempted a few times to pick up the phone and call her but he curved the desire knowing it was too soon.

“Morning,” he grinned as he approached her.

“Hey,” Liz smiled.

“Nice weekend?” he enquired.

Liz shrugged, “pretty quiet except for work, you?”

“I went home for the weekend. It was good to see the family,” he admitted.

Liz smiled she thought it was great that he was close to his family and it made her miss her own parents. Since they had started traveling she only saw them for major holidays.

They got to work straight away and it wasn’t until the session was finished an hour later and when they sat down that Max finally brought up Friday night.

“So I had a great time Friday night,” he smiled as he sipped his Gatorade.

“Me too,” Liz said as she bit her lower lip.

“I was hoping we could do it again sometime?”

Liz froze at his words and it didn’t go unnoticed by Max who had been watching her carefully and he knew instantly that he had said something wrong. Had he been wrong? Had she not enjoyed herself as much as he had?

“The thing is Max,” Liz sighed, “Is I’ve kind of been seeing someone,” she admitted.

Max felt his heart thump at her declaration. This was not supposed to be happening he told himself. She belonged with him, to him. Liz was his mate he was sure of it.

“It’s not serious or anything but…” she trailed off as she saw the look in his eyes change.

“Well if it’s not serious then what’s the problem?” he asked her. “Is it exclusive?”

Liz bit her lip and contemplated his question. As far as she was concerned what her and Michael had was nothing but he thought differently and she knew he would react badly if he found out about Max. Michael had quite a temper, one that Liz had seen first hand. If he ever heard or saw a guy touch or say something inappropriate to her at the bar it would take all the coaxing Liz could manage to stop him from beating the guy to a pulp.

“I like you Liz,” Max said then. “And I think you like me too.” He knew she could feel the attraction between them. The more time he spent with her the more his body became in tuned to her. He knew that she wasn’t as in tune with her alien side as he was because if she as then she would have known who he was by now, she would be able to feel his power.

Max suspected that although Liz knew what she was that she hadn’t been encouraged to embrace it like he had.

“Your right I do,” Liz whispered.

Standing up from his seat Max started walking towards her. Liz froze when she saw the feral grin on his face.

He could see that she was trying to fight what she felt for him but he refused to give up. He wanted Liz with every cell in his body and he was determined that she would remember him and that she would come to him.

He stopped when he was mere inches from her and reached up and tucked a piece of hair that had fallen from her pony table behind her ears.

“So go out with me,” he said, “as friends,” he added then.

“Friends?” Liz immediately asked and the look on her face told Max exactly how she felt about that idea.

“Yeah friends,” he confirmed.

“Um ok, yeah that sounds good,” she nodded trying to compose herself. How was she supposed to be just friends with him when all she wanted to do was throw herself at him?

“Great.” He grinned.

“So what about a movie tomorrow night?” he asked.

Realising she had no good reason to say no, and not wanting to Liz nodded and smiled. “Great”

“See you tomorrow Liz,” he smiled then. So coming on strong hadn’t worked for him now he would see how playing hard to get would.

Liz waited to she reached her car before she banged her head against the steering wheel in frustration. Her body was humming, she wanted Max so badly that she couldn’t think straight right now, and now she found herself in a completely ridiculous situation. Friends? What the hell was she thinking?

***

“Hey babe,” Michael greeted as he walked into Liz and Maria’s apartment uninvited.

Liz sighed and looked up from her book. Today was her day off and she just wanted to relax.

“Hi,” she replied back before she buried her face back into her book.

Michael sat down on the couch and pulled the book from her hand. “You reading this again?” He asked as he read the cover.

Liz reached for her book and snapped it back. “Yes,” she frowned.

“So how’s the training going?” he asked her.

“Fine,” she replied.

“Cool,” he frowned.

“So what are you doing?” he asked.

“I was reading,” she pointed out.

“What’s with you?” he snapped then.

“What’s with you?” she snapped back.

“I’m just trying to have a conversation with you,” he argued. “Why do you always have to be such a bitch?”

Liz closed her eyes and tried to control her anger. “Well maybe if you didn’t piss me off so much I wouldn’t be,” she told him.

Michael scowled at her but chose to ignore her comment. “Where’s Maria?” he asked.

“Working in the Crashdown,” she informed him.

“So we’ve got the place all to ourselves?” he asked and Liz could immediately tell what he was thinking.

“I’m not in the mood,” she told him.

“You’re never in the mood anymore,” he grumbled.

“If you don’t like it Michael feel free to get it somewhere else,” she told him.

“Why do you have to fucking do this? God Liz we’re meant to be together, made for each other why cant you just accept it?” he asked her.

Liz looked away “I wont ever accept it Michael. So like I said if your not liking the way things are then do us both a favor and move on.”

Michael reached out and pulled her to him then his lips latched on to her neck whilst his hand roughly pulled up her top and started to caress her breasts. Unable to stop herself Liz moaned.

“Your words say one thing Liz but your actions say another,” he whispered before he moved his mouth to her breasts and took a rosy nipple into her mouth.

Liz found herself lost in the feelings his touch was evoking but her mind was imagining something completely different. It was a dark haired Adonis ravaging her body; his had sneaking under her short shorts and slipping a long finger inside of her.

When Liz came back to earth she was disgusted with herself at what she felt. Michael had her almost completely naked now his head buried between her legs and eating her out like this was his last meal.

“S-Stop,” she told him.

“Just lie back and enjoy baby,” he grinned against her wet pussy.

He stood up and pulled his jeans off then before he joined Liz back on the couch again and with one thrust he was inside of her.

Liz closed her eyes in disgust at what she was doing. He was right all he had to do was touch her and she opened her legs for him.

“Fuck Liz you feel so good,” he moaned in her ear. “So wet and tight baby,” he hissed.

“God I love you babe,” he whispered in her ear.

He pumped in and out of her hard and fast, he fucked her thoroughly and she was unable to stop the moan that escaped her mouth when she came around him.

Seconds later Michael came inside of her too and collapsed on top of her.

The minute Liz came down from her high she shoved Michael off her body, picked up her clothes and ran to the bathroom.

He watched shattered as she ran from him again. What would it take for her to accept what they were? Didn’t she realize that despite their destiny he was with her because he loved her? And he wondered again why she couldn’t love him back.

A/N: Hi everyone. I want to start off with saying i hope that we can put all the controversy of the last part behind us and move on.

I hope you enjoy this new part and i would just like to point out just to avoid confusion that a lot of this story is already written, so that means its been written as though no rape happened in the last scene because like stated i never intended for it to be percieved that way.

Part 5

Two weeks later

Liz whistled as she made her way into the private gym that she used for her private training sessions and stopped abruptly when she found Max lying with a bare chest and pumping weights.

“Come and spot me?” he asked.

Liz threw her stuff down and jogged over to the weight bench and watched as his muscled arms lifted the weight bar up and down.

“Wow,” she said when after at least 20 lifts he was finished.

Max sat up and smiled. “Thanks.” He loved that he had impressed her.

Liz got to work then and it was over an hour later when she was finally done.

“I’ve gotta go,” she groaned as she looked at her watch. “I’m working the Crashdown today,” she informed him.

“We still on for tonight?” he asked. It was Friday night and they had a “date”.

“Cant wait,” she smiled at him as she threw her bag on her shoulder.

Over the past two weeks they had almost been inseparable. When Liz wasn’t working they would either catch up for coffee or a movie and on the odd occasion when she did have to work on the weekends he would come by for a while. Last week she had introduced him to Maria when he had stopped by un-expectantly at her apartment. The two of them hit it off from the word go which was a relief for Liz. But on the down side spending so much time with Max was also unbearable. Liz found the already strong attraction she felt towards him growing each day and she didn’t know how long she was going to be able to ignore it.

She could also tell that Max was having a hard time dealing with it too. Sure he put on a good show but she wasn’t blind to the looks he gave her when he thought she wasn’t looking. She loved those looks.

Luckily enough Max hadn’t run into Michael yet. It amazed her with how much time she spent with Max that Michael hadn’t found out yet but she was also grateful. Since her last encounter with Michael a few weeks ago he’d been quiet and she could tell that her actions had hurt him.

“Where are we going anyway?” Liz stopped and asked.

“Dress up for a wild night,” he smirked.

Liz was intrigued. “Ok see you at eight,” she told him and left.

Max sighed when she was gone and one again re-arranged his hard cock. He almost had blue balls from his encounter with Liz. He knew she didn’t mean to tease him. She was probably oblivious to the fact that her small outfits turned him on so much.

Tonight he was taking her to UFOnics. He decided he had played the friend game long enough. It was obvious that Liz wanted something more and tonight he planned on driving her crazy by dancing closely against her until she finally cracked. He smiled at the thought he couldn’t wait.

***

For the fifth time that night Maria turned and looked at Michael strangely. She had barely seen him in the past few weeks and on the few occasions she had he had been very quiet which was unusual. Normally he would be playful and chat with her especially on the nights they worked the bar at The Crash together.

“Ok what’s up?” she couldn’t take it anymore so she asked.

Michael looked at her confused. “What do you mean?”

“We firstly for someone who normally spends a fair bit of time here I have hardly seen you in two weeks and when I have you’ve been like this,” she told him.

“And how’s this?” he asked unable to hide his amusement.

“Sullen,” she said.

“Hmm,” he thought. “Didn’t Liz tell you about our fight?” he asked her.

“Which one?” Maria laughed. “All the two of you ever do is fight so what’s new?”

Michael looked hurt. “This is different. She was a bitch and I’m sick of it,” he informed her.

Maria looked at him for a minute and contemplated whether she should really tell him what she was thinking, in the end she didn’t because it wasn’t her place to tell Michael that all Liz wanted from him was to leave her alone, leave her to be free to date whoever she wanted too. It also crossed her mind that Michael had played right into Liz’s hands because while he was sulking and waiting for Liz to come crawling he was leaving Liz free to spend as much time with the man she really wanted to be with.

“Well its about time,” she decided to say.

Michael scowled at her but before he got the chance to respond a group of people flooded the bar and they got caught up working for the next few hours.

***

Max whistled when Liz opened the door and he saw how she looked. She was wearing a very short black leather skirt with a red satin camisole. “You look hot Parker,” he smirked at her.

Liz licked her lips as she looked at Max’s appearance. He was wearing a pair of tight black denim jeans and a white cut off shirt, which showed off his toned arms. “Not bad yourself Evans,” she replied.

When they arrived at UFOnics the place was packed which surprised Max. He had heard a few of his employees talking about it and decided he wanted to check it out, and who better to check it out with than Liz.

“Do you want a drink?” he asked.

“No lets just dance,” Liz smirked as she dragged him towards the dance floor.

no no no no don't phunk wit my heart
no no no no don't phunk wit my heart

I wonder if I take you home would you still be in love baby, in love baby
I wonder if I take you home would you still be in love baby, in love baby

The minute they stepped on the dance floor and the Black Eyed Peas started playing Max pulled Liz against his body. He loved this song.

Liz had to bite her lip so she didn’t gasp at the feel of Max’s solid body against hers.

Girl you know you got me got me wit your pistol shot me shot me
And I'm here helplessly in love and nothing can stop me
You can't stop me once I started you can't return me once you bought it
I come and baby don't got it I come and baby don't got it so lets be about it

Baby have some trustin' trustin' when I come wit lustin' lustin' cuz
I bring you dat comfort I ain't only here cuz I want you body I want your mind too. Interesting when I find you and I'm interested in the long haul come on girl Yeehaw!

I wonder if I take you home would you still be in love baby, in love baby
I wonder if I take you home would you still be in love baby, in love baby

Their hips grinded against each other in perfect sync and Liz threw her head back and closed her eyes at the pleasure that was swimming throughout her body.

Max watched as the expressions on her face changed lustfully. He knew that she was feeling the same things he was and he couldn’t hold himself back any longer.

no no no no don't phunk wit my heart

Girl you had me once you kissed me my love for you is not iffy
I always want you wit me I'll play Bobby and you play Whitney
If you smoke I smoke too dats how much I'm in love wit you.
Crazy is what crazy do I'm in love I'm a crazy fool

no no no no don't phunk wit my heart

ya always claimin I'm a cheater thinkin I'm up and gonna leave ya for another Senorita you forgot that I need ya u must of caught amnesia dats why you don't believe her (yeah check it out)

Max dragged Liz against his body even closer if that was possible and his hand fisted into her curled hair when he massaged her scalp until she opened her eyes and met his now black ones.

Liz’s tongue licked her suddenly parched lips as her head began leaning in closer to Max of it’s own free will.

Don't you worry bout a thing baby cuz you know you got me by a string baby
Don't you worry bout a thing baby cuz you know you got me by a string baby

Baby girl you make me feel you know you make me feel so real I love you more than sex appeal cuz a, dat dadat dadat dat dat girl dat da dat da dat dat dat girl (repeat 2x more)

no no no no don't phunk wit my heart
no no no no don't phunk wit my heart

“Liz,” Max whispered as Liz started to lean towards him, his own head following her actions. He knew that this was the moment but what he didn’t know was if Liz was really ready for it.

Liz closed the final distance then and Max met her there eagerly as he tightened his grip on her as their mouths met for the first time.

I wonder if I take you home would you still be in love baby, in love baby
I wonder if I take you home would you still be in love baby, in love baby
I wonder if I take you home would you still be in love baby, in love baby
I wonder if I take you home would you still be in love baby, in love baby)

Don't you worry bout a thing baby cuz you know you got me by a string baby
Don't you worry bout a thing baby cuz you know you got me by a string baby

Liz was unsure of how long they been making out on the dance floor but she did know that several songs had passed by. The kisses they shared were hot and passionate and left Liz feeling and dazed.

They didn’t talk about the kiss instead they continued to dance and kiss both knowing that tonight was about letting go and boy were they doing that.

Michael and Maria worked together quietly as they cleaned up the Crash at closing. It was past 3 am and Maria was absolutely beat. It had been heaps busier than expected and they had really needed Liz but had been unable to get in contact with her much to the annoyance of Michael who had decided to interrogate Maria on where she was.

“Would you stop scowling at me,” Maria finally snapped. Every time she looked at Michael he was staring at her like she had betrayed him and she was sick of it. She was sick of being in the middle of the twisted games that Liz and Michael played with each other.

“I just don’t see what the big deal is, where did Liz go tonight?” he asked.

“Fine Michael she went out with some friends she made at the gym. I think they were going to a bar or something,” she sighed. It was as close to the truth as he was going to get out of her.

Michael nodded though obviously believing the story that Maria fed him.

“You know maybe that’s half your problem,” Maria decided to tell him then.

“What’s that?” Michael asked sarcastically.

“You look at Liz like she’s some kind of possession, that she belongs to you,” she told him moving closer to him. “A little toy that you can play with when you’re bored,” she added, her eyes focused on his face.

Michael tried to back away from her but he couldn’t he was pressed up against the bar as Maria pressed herself against him. His eyes drifted to her red lips as he tried to not get distracted by the feel of her nipples pressed against his chest though the thin fabric of her Crash top.

Maria saw where Michael’s eyes were focused and smirked. “No wonder Liz isn’t interested,” she told him. “Although,” she added a hand trailing up his chest, “she did tell me that you were a solid 9 in bed,” she smirked.

Michael’s eyes darkened at her teasing tone. She was standing dangerously close and he could feel himself reacting to her. Strongly. He had always liked Maria and he thought she was completely hot, sometimes he thought it would be easier to be with her than Liz.

“So why don’t you drop the kicked puppy routine and find a women who actually wants to be with you rather than one who doesn’t?” she added her own eyes darkening as she watched Michaels turn almost black.

Maria licked her lips in invitation then, she knew she was playing a dangerous game and it could backfire in her face but it could work in everyone’s favour. She knew Liz certainly wouldn’t care and if Michael responded the way she hoped he would Liz would be free to date Max like she wanted too.

Michael growled when he saw her lick her lips and in split second he had replaced her tongue with his own. He thrust his tongue in her mouth as he devoured her mouth.

But as quickly as the kiss started it ended with Michael pushing Maria away. “This is wrong,” he panted.

Maria shook her head and tried to focus. “I’m with Liz and you and I, we’re not meant to be,” he told her.

“Michael,” Maria sighed. She knew he must feel something for her or there was no way he would have kissed her the way he did.

“No Maria, I’m serious. This will never happen again and do us both a favour and don’t tell Liz,” he warned as he made his way to the door.

He jumped on his bike without looking back and roared out of the alleyway only just missing the black jeep that was pulling in at the same time.

***

Max helped Liz out of his jeep and wrapped his strong arm around her shoulder to ward off the cooling breeze as he walked her to her apartment.

Liz stopped when she reached the door. “Max,” she whispered. There was so much she wanted to tell him. She wanted to invite him in and make every fantasy that she had conjured up about making love with him come true but she knew they couldn’t.

“Shh,” Max whispered silencing her as he stepped closer and took her mouth again in a searing kiss. Liz moaned into Max’s mouth as he pressed her against the door deepening the kiss ever further as they thrust their tongues against each other like their bodies longed too.

He pulled back slowly and smiled proudly at the dazed look on Liz’s face. “Do you want to come in?” she blurted out.

“Yes,” Max answered immediately. “Is Maria here?” he asked.

Liz nodded and knew right away that he was going to say no then.

“Not tonight,” he whispered. The things he had planned for Liz when they finally came together did not need to be done around an audience. He already knew that Maria was also like them he could sense her power as well but just like Liz she had no clue about him.

“Ok,” Liz nodded but she felt like banging her head against a wall.

“I’ll just go home and take a cold shower,” he smirked and Liz laughed. “But I’ll be taking a rain check Parker,” he whispered huskily. “One I want to hand in very soon,” he added.

Liz smiled, “uh huh.”

After one final peck he took a step backwards and waited for Liz to open the door and disappear behind it before he walked slowly back to his jeep all the while cursing himself at not going inside with her and hoping he hadn’t just missed his big chance.

A/N: Hi everyone I'm posting and running tonight sorry :D Thank you heaps for the feedback though, i'm glad you guys are reading.

Part 6

Michael Guerin was a man on a mission the next morning. It was only 10am on a Saturday morning and he was out of bed and on his way to talk to Liz. Normally he wouldn’t be up until late in the afternoon but he wanted to know where and who Liz was with the night before and he was going to tell her that enough was enough.

He stepped out of his apartment and pulled the door shut and before using his powers to lock the door looked around, with no one on the left he quickly turned to his right his eyes instantly meeting that of his new neighbor who was walking out the door at the same time.

***

Max couldn’t wipe the grin of his face as he moved around his apartment the next morning. He knew Liz had to work later in the day but he hoped he might be able to convince her to have brunch with him at the Crashdown. He couldn’t stop thinking about the feel of Liz’s sexy little body pressed up against him last night as he kissed her over and over again.

He walked out his apartment still grinning when he looked up and met the eyes of his new neighbor and that one second was like a bucket of cold water being thrown over his head.

“You,” he whispered immediately recognizing him.

Max could feel the power radiating off the man in front of him. He was almost as strong as he was, almost he thought.

“Do you know me?” Max asked him.

Michael nodded. “Do you recognize me?” he asked.

Max also nodded.

Michael opened his door then. “Maybe you should come in so we can talk,” he suggested.

Max nodded and shoved his own keys in his pocket before he walked into Michaels. The apartments were the same set up but the over all look of the apartments were completely different. Where his apartment was clean and orderly with black furnishings ideal for a single guy Michael’s was messy and unorganized with mis-matched furniture everywhere.

“Nice place,” Max commented.

“It’s home,” Michael shrugged.

“Max Evans,” Max introduced holding out his hand. “I guess we’re neighbors,” he added. At least he had met the noisy guy next door and wondered who his screamer girlfriend was.

“Michael Guerin,” he replied shaking his offered hand.

“Take a seat” Michael said so Max sat down.

“Do you remember coming out of the pods?” Michael asked him.

Max nodded. “The three of you were gone by the time I came out,” he told him.

“Yeah,” Michael said remembering the day. Liz hadn’t wanted to leave but Michael and Maria had made her. Maybe he was Liz’s brother Michael thought as he looked at the similar colorings he shared with Liz.

“So what happened to you?” Michael asked.

“I was found in the dessert by the Evans. They were moving to Albuquerque so they took me with them,” he said.

“Do they know about you?”

“Yes,” Max nodded.

“What about you?” he asked.

Michael hesitated telling him about Maria and Liz. He didn’t know if he could trust him yet so he wouldn’t reveal their identity. “The other two were picked up but I was scared by the car so I hid. Eventually an Indian from the reservation found me and took me to the Sheriffs department. I was put in an orphanage and then into the Foster system,” he shrugged.

Max nodded. “Doesn’t sound so hot,” he commented.

“Yeah well it wasn’t,” he admitted. “So what brought you to Roswell after all this time?” he asked him then. He wanted to know why after 24 years he would show up in Roswell of all places.

“Answers,” Max shrugged.

Michael nodded he could relate to that. “Well I can’t help you with many of those but I do have a book,” he told him.

Max’s eyes lit up. “Really? Can I see it?” he asked.

Michael nodded. “I have to get it out of the bank,” he said. “I keep it in a safety deposit box there so the wrong people can’t get their hands on it”

“Smart,” Max told him.

Michael looked at the clock then he would have to get going if he wanted to make it to the bank in Las Cruses and back before his shift. Also, he wanted to talk to Liz and Maria before he showed Max the book. They had a right to know that he had found another one like them.

“I have to go,” he said regretfully, “but how about we meet here tonight around 6 and I’ll show you the book?” he suggested. He didn’t work till 8 that night and he was pretty sure that Liz was working the same shift, which meant Maria, would be either done by six or not be working at all.

Max nodded. “Sounds good,” he said.

They both left then. Michael jumped on his bike and roared off towards Las Cruses completely forgetting about his earlier mission to talk to Liz, whilst Max walked the four of five blocks in the sunshine to the Crashdown.

***

Liz was still lying in bed when Max knocked on the door at 10.30.

She groaned as she looked at the clock but hopped up and opened the door. Max grinned when he caught sight of the still half asleep Liz. She was wearing a cut pair of cookie monster boxer shorts and a white singles top, which he could clearly see her nipples through.

“Morning sexy,” he greeted leaning against the doorframe.

Liz blushed bright red her hand going to her hair and running through it in an effort to rid the bed hair. Her actions caused Max to laugh.

“Max,” she said, “what are you doing here?”

“I was hoping you’d have breakfast with me,” he informed her.

“Um oh,” she bit her lip. “Sure,” she finally agreed. Max wanted to pull her into his arms and replace her teeth on her bottom lip with his tongue; she looked so cute when she was flustered and sleepy.

She opened the door so he could enter. “Let me just grab a quick shower and we’ll go,” she told him.

“Take your time.” He smirked as he made himself comfortable in her lounge room. He had been over a few times now so he knew where everything was and he felt at home in the small apartment that Liz had grew up in.

“Ok,” she smiled.

Fifteen minutes later they were seated downstairs in a booth. “I’m impressed,” Max told her. “It takes my sister an hour to get read and she still doesn’t look half as gorgeous as you,” he told her.

Liz went bright red all over again and cursed herself for letting Max get to her that way. She couldn’t remember ever blushing so much in her life, he just had that effect on her.

“Thanks,” she said. “But I doubt that. I’ve seen a picture of your sister and she could be a model.”

Max laughed, “Yeah actually she is,” he informed her. Isabel did some modeling part time while she was at school.

As they sat and ate breakfast Max contemplated asking Liz if she knew Michael but decided against it. The fell into their usual comfortable banter both avoiding the topic of their date the night before and where it could have potentially lead.

***

Maria watched Liz and Max suspiciously as they ate breakfast. Liz had just gotten home the night before when she had finally finished closing up the bar by herself after Michael had walked out. She knew she should tell Liz about what she had done the night before and she fully intended on it as soon as Max was gone. But something was different about Max and Liz today. Where there was normally a cloud of sexual tension following them around today they seemed a lot more at ease with each other and she was curious if something had happened the night before.

Finally deciding to stop lurking the shadows she approached the booth and sat down next to Liz. “Hey guys,” she greeted as she reached over and stolen a piece of hash brown from Liz’s plate but as soon as it hit her mouth she spit it out.

“Eew yuck Liz, it doesn’t have any Tabasco!” she blurted out.

Liz turned to Maria with an “I can’t believe you” expression.

Max eyed the girls with amusement. He couldn’t stand his food without hot sauce either and had poured it on when Liz wasn’t looking. “Yeah I just didn’t feel like any this morning Maria,” she finally replied.

“Sorry,” Liz apologized to Max. “Maria and I have a bit of a thing for Tabasco,” she admitted.

Max smiled. “Yeah it’s good stuff,” he agreed which caused Maria to look at him surprised.

In the end Max and Liz sat around the Crashdown till well after lunch until Max realized he needed to go. “I should go,” he said regretfully.

Liz smiled. “Well thanks for coming and getting me out of bed,” she told him. “I had fun.”

Max’s eyes drifted to her lips again then. Man did he want to kiss her but he knew he couldn’t in front of all these people not when Liz was potentially seeing someone else.

“Me too,” he said.

“I’ll see you tomorrow,” Liz said then which automatically brightened Max’s mood when he remembered he would have her all to himself the next morning.

“You sure will,” he grinned right before he leaned in and kissed her cheek before strutting out of the Crashdown.

Liz grinned as she fell back into her seat until Maria sat across from her. “You and me have got to talk,” she informed her.

“Really?” Liz whined.

“Yes I did something and I need to tell you about it, and after that you’re going to tell me all about you’re little date with Moon doggie”

Liz laughed at Maria’s nickname for Max. “Ok upstairs?” she asked.

Maria nodded and they started heading for the backroom. As they entered though they were almost knocked flying by Michael.

“Shit sorry,” he apologized.

“Why are you in such a hurry?” Liz asked pushing past him and Maria who were staring at each other to walk up the stairs.

“I need to talk to the two of you, its important,” he added when he could see Liz was about to object.

“Come on up then,” Liz sighed

“So what’s this all about Michael?” Liz asked once they entered the apartment. It hadn’t gone unnoticed to either Liz or Maria that Michael had the alien destiny book in his hand and just a glance at it had Liz gunning for a fight. As far as she was concerned that book had ruined her life.

“I have news,” he replied.

“And?” Maria prompted wanting him to get to the point already.

“I’ve found the fourth,” he grinned.

The two girls eyes widened at his revelation. “What?” Liz whispered.

“I found the fourth and I talked to him. We recognized each other,” he explained. “He’s coming to my apartment tonight 6 to talk and so I can show him this. Can you guys come?” he asked.

Maria and Liz nodded still in shock.

“Don’t you guys know what this means?” he asked then. He had thought about it the whole way to and from Las Cruses and he knew he was right. Max was Liz’s brother and Maria’s mate he was sure of it.

“Um not really?” Maria replied.

“We found your mate Maria,” he said excited and at that new revelation was too much for Maria. Whilst Liz’s mouth opened in shock Maria simply fainted.

Part 7

“I don’t think I’m ready for this” Maria admitted as her and Liz drove towards Michael’s apartment that night.

After Maria had fainted it took Liz close to ten minutes to get her to come around. At first Maria had thought it was all a dream but once she caught sight of the destiny book Michael’s words rang through her head, “I found Maria’s mate,” and she had immediately started crying.

After that Liz had kicked Michael out with the promise that they would both be there that night and went back to her best friend. She knew what it felt like to have a destiny pushed at you and she always envied Maria that she didn’t.

“God Liz why did this have to happen now?” she cried

“I know it sucks but you never know you might like him,” Liz tried to reason.

“I don’t even know him what if he just expects me to be with him like Michael does with you? At least you knew Michael before,” she said.

“True,” Liz sighed. “I don’t know Maria but one thing I do know is that we’re not going to let Michael and who ever this fourth alien is run our lives anymore. As of tonight we’re taking back our lives and saying fuck off to destiny,” Liz informed her.

“Really?” Maria asked unsure.

“Really,” Liz said and Maria could tell by the conviction in her voice that Liz was deadly serious.

“You really like him don’t you?” Maria asked. There had to be reason why all of sudden Liz was going to stick up for herself and Maria knew it wasn’t just the news Michael had delivered. Something had changed that made Liz want to change and she suspected that it was Max.

“Yeah,” Liz whispered. It was the first time she had admitted it out loud but it was the truth. Max Evans had wormed his way into her heart and she was helpless to stop it and she didn’t want to.

“I’m happy for you Liz,” she told her.

Liz smiled, “So no more tears ok, tonight we take a stand ok?”

Maria smiled. “Ok,” she agreed.

“It will be fine Ria,” Liz assured her as she pulled the car up out the front of Michael’s apartment complex. It had been almost a month since she had been here she thought.

“I have to tell you something before we go in there,” Maria said then stopping Liz from opening her door.

“Ok,” Liz nodded.

“Last night I kissed Michael,” she blurted out.

Liz looked at Maria shocked and then burst out laughing, “Your kidding right?”

Maria shook her head, “No.”

“What happened?” Liz asked excitedly for her best friend.

“Well at first he kissed me back but then all of sudden he was all like, I’m with Liz and then he walked out and left me to close by myself,” she said.

“Don’t give up hope Ria I think he’ll come around eventually,” she told her best friend.

“Yeah but somehow I don’t think so,” she told her sadly.

***

Max looked at the clock nervously. There was still ten minutes until six o’clock but he feeling on edge. He wasn’t sure why but he had the feeling that something big was going down tonight. On top of that his senses felt a burst of power coming from the apartment next door a few minutes earlier and he suspected that Michael might not be the only one he was meeting tonight and for the first time since this morning he wondered if he should trust him.

Unable to wait any longer he stood up and strode purposefully out of the apartment unable to wait any longer.

***

Liz and Maria were only inside Michael’s apartment for a few minutes before there was a knock on the door.

“Ok so let me do all the talking,” Michael told them.

Maria frowned. “Are you sure we can trust him?”

“Well we’ll see soon enough,” he shrugged.

“Typical Michael,” Liz grunted under her breath.

Liz and Maria couldn’t see the person on the other side as Michael opened the door and invited the other alien in but as soon as Michael stepped aside they Liz’s breath caught in her throat.

“Max?” she questioned totally confused. Her heart was beating a mile a minute as she thought of all the reason that he could be standing there.

Max was surprised despite the fact he knew there was potential for Liz to be there when he saw her and Maria standing there.

“Hi Liz, Hi Maria,” he greeted.

“You three know each other?” Michael asked confused.

“Yeah,” Max answered.

“How?” Michael asked shooting a look at Liz who was standing in shock staring at Max.

When it was obvious Liz wasn’t going to answer Michaels question Maria’s spoke up. “Max is the new owner of the Roswell Gym and Liz’s personal trainer,” she explained.

“Oh,” Michael frowned as he looked at the other alien he didn’t know if he liked the amount of time Liz was spending with him or the way she was looking at him now.

“Well let’s sit down,” Michael suggested.

Michael pulled the book out and handed it to Max then. “This is it,” he told him. “I found it in a cave out on the reservation,” he told him.

Max ran a hand over the book and felt the power it held. “Wow,” he said. He looked at the pictures on the front and the intricate lock. “Can you open it?” he asked.

“We’ve tried but it wont budge,” Michael explained.

Liz who had been sitting quietly beside Maria spoke up then. “What happened to you?” she whispered.

Max looked up and smiled gently at her. “I wasn’t ready to leave the pod. I tried calling out to you to tell you to wait but I guess you guys couldn’t,” he said. “I emerged later on and you were all gone, I couldn’t feel any of you. The Evans found me in the dessert.”

“I remember,” Liz whispered. “I remember you calling out to me begging me to wait,” she said a tear sliding down her face.

Michael looked between the two. “I think you two are brother and sister,” he declared. “That’s probably why you had a connection when you were younger,” he added.

Max and Liz’s eyes both snapped to him.

“We don’t know that” Maria spoke up. “We don’t know anything about ourselves at all,” she added.

Max looked like he wanted to say something but he bit down on it.

“What is it?” Liz asked him.

“I have dreams,” he told them. “I think they might be memories from our past.”

“What!” Michael cried, “What are they about?” he demanded.

“They’re confusing,” he said, “They don’t make much sense at all. I write them down so maybe one day what I see or hear might make sense”

Max continued fingering the book he could see Liz and Michael’s picture on both sides of the lock but not his or Maria’s and wondered why.

“I’m pretty sure that the pictures represent our pairs,” Michael informed him. “Liz is my mate and Maria is yours,” he informed him.

Max’s lifted piercing Amber eyes up to him. “Excuse me?” he asked.

“I’ve always been drawn to Liz and the picture confirmed it she’s my mate, probably was in our last life as well.”

“So the two of you are…?” he asked looking at Liz begging her to deny what Michael was telling him. Because if what Michael was saying was true than Max knew much more about Liz than he wanted to right now.

“Together,” Michael confirmed.

“Look I don’t care what some book says,” Maria spoke up then. “No offence Max you’re a cool guy but kind of not my type,” Maria smiled.

Max smiled back. “No offence taken and I feel the same way Maria. In fact I’m positive that Michael is wrong,” he added.

Michael scowled. “Wrong about what?”

“Everything,” Max told him.

“And what do you know?” Michael snapped.

“I know that seeing your pictures on the front of a book doesn’t mean your mates. You have no idea what’s inside of this book or what it will say,” he added.

“Well then explain to me why I’m so drawn to Liz why I’ve been in love with her my entire life?” he asked.

“I cant. Do you feel the same Liz?” Max asked turning pleading eyes to her.

Michael watched her expectantly. “No,” she whispered. “And I’m with Maria. I’m done with this destiny shit,” she said.

Michael looked at Liz hurt. “Stop lying Liz you know all I have do is touch you,” Michael smirked.

“Stop,” she demanded her eyes darkening in warning.

Max turned his eyes back to the book then a scene from one of his dreams flashed into his mind. “I think I know how to open this,” he whispered.

“What?” Maria asked excited.

“I’m pretty sure I know how to open this,” he said again.

“How?” Liz asked.

“There are leaders, mates. They will be able to open it when they’re connected,” he told them his eyes staring into Liz’s knowing that in his heart that it would be him and her that would be able to open the book.

“Well that’s Liz and I so we should try” Michael said then grabbing the book from Max’s hand.

“Michael,” Liz said looking between him and Max.

“What? Don’t you want to open the book? Come on Liz,” he said.

It was Maria who finally voiced what they were all thinking. “How do you know it’s you?”

“What?”

“Max said it was the leader and his mate, right Max?” she said looking at Max who nodded. “How do you know it’s you?” she asked him.

“Of course its me. Me and Liz,” he scoffed at Maria.

Liz decided to play along and took Michaels hand. They formed a connection easily but Liz was careful to block her mind from Michael, which was easy because she knew that Michael was terrible with connecting to people. They placed their joint hands over the book and concentrated on unlocking it but after a few minutes it was obvious that it wasn’t going to work.

“It didn’t work,” she said when they broke away biting back a smile as thought about what it could mean.

“So either Liz isn’t your mate or you’re not the leader,” Max told him. “Which one do you think it is?” Max asked him.

“You and Maria should try,” he said handing Max the book.

Max looked at Maria and shrugged. They both knew it wouldn’t work but they tried anyway. Maria giggled when Max connected with her and she was flooded with images of Liz.

They did the same thing that Michael and Liz did and it didn’t work.

“So we know we’re not mates what next?” Maria asked.

“You and Michael should try” Max suggested to Maria.

Michael and Maria took their turn but were also unable to open it. Michael threw the book down in frustration. “What now?” he asked.

Liz picked up the thrown book and approached Max. “You know we’re going to open this don’t you?” Max whispered and Liz nodded and smiled.

Taking Max’s hand Liz connected to him without even having to try and within second of touching the book it unlocked.

“Oh my god,” Maria gasped.

Part 8

Breaking out of their connection Max and Liz looked down and both smiled when they saw that the book was open.

“It worked,” Liz said staring at the book in awe and then looking at Max with a smile.

“Yeah it did,” he replied.

Michael scowled before stepping forward and trying to snap the book out of Max’s hand but the minute only Michaels hand was touching the book it jolted Michael with a power causing Michael to drop it.

“What the fuck,” he cursed at the book bending down to pick it up and once it was back in his hand and he turned it over he noticed that the book was once again locked.

“It’s locked,” he said looking at Max and Liz who still hadn’t moved. “It didn’t work,” he told them.

Max looked at the book confused. “Yes it did it was open,” he said.

“I saw it too,” Maria jumped in.

“Can I see it?” Max asked placing his hand out for the book and Michael reluctantly handed it over.

Max didn’t know where the knowledge came from but he waved his hand over the book and it unlocked again.

“Wow that’s weird,” Liz said.

“What does it say?” Maria asked as she watched with wide eyes as Max opened the book for the first time.

The writing wasn’t English that was the first thing that Max could see but something inside him told him that if he concentrated he could read the writing.

“I think its our language,” Max said.

“Can I see?” Maria asked and Max nodded before handing her the book but just like with Michael as soon as Max let it go it shocked Maria causing her to drop it and locked itself once again.

“Um wow,” Liz said as she watched the book fold together and lock in front of her.

“What the hell?” Michael said.

“I think the book belongs to me,” Max told them. “I think it’s programmed to do that so it can’t get into the wrong hands,” he said unsure where he pulled that from.

“How do you know that?” Liz asked.

“I don’t know,” he shook his head. “Since we connected I know a whole lot of things I didn’t know before,” he admitted smiling at Liz.

Max reached down and picked up the book again and reopened it before handing it to Liz. “You should try,” he told her.

When Max placed the book in her hand nothing happened, the book remained opened and Liz was able to trail her hands over the book and as soon as her fingers connected the words disappeared and were replaced with pictures.

“M-Max,” she gasped.

“What?” he asked leaning over her to see what she was looking at.

Max’s eyes widened when he saw what had happened. Liz was staring at picture of the two of them standing clearly together with what looked like crowns on their heads and on the other page were Michael and Maria.

“What is it?” Michael demanded walking up behind Liz to see what they were staring at.

“It changed. I just touched it and the pictures appeared,” she explained.

Maria gasped when she saw the pairings. “What does it mean?” she asked.

“Probably our sibling pairings,” Michael said before raising his arms and placing his hands on Liz’s shoulder possessively.

Max’s eyes narrowed and he clenched his fists to try and stop himself from ripping Michaels hands off Liz. Something had shifted within him he could feel his power bubbling, strengthening. He also felt a fierce sense of possessiveness and ownership over Liz. Sure he had felt that way before but not it was stronger instinctive.

Maria looked at the clock then. “I hate to break up the party but it’s ten to eight you and Michael need to get to the Bar, Liz,” she said.

Liz looked up. “You’re right,” she said and used the opportunity to move away from Michael.

“Lets go,” she said to Michael.

Michael reached out to take the book from her but Liz unconsciously moved it out of his reach. “Liz,” he frowned, “just give me the book so I can put it away somewhere safe,” he said.

“I’ll take it,” Max spoke up and held out his hand for the book. Liz handed it over without second thought.

“What? No!” Michael objected. “It’s my book, I found it so it stays with me,” he objected.

“It’s my book and without me you cant even open it,” Max reminded him.

Michael was about to argue with him when Liz spoke up. “He’s right the book belongs to him,” Liz said. “Its safest with Max,” she added.

“Maybe you could try to read what it says?” Maria suggested entering the conversation.

“Hopefully yeah,” Max agreed with her.

Michael scowled. “Fine you can have it tonight but tomorrow we all look at that book again and together,” he told them before stalking to the door.

Everyone followed and once they were all out in the hall Michael locked the door and started walking away, Maria following him.

“Liz,” Max whispered as they stood staring at each other.

“Max,” Liz said at the same time.

They both laughed, “um can we talk?” she whispered.

Max nodded. “Call me when you finish I’ll come over,” he told her.

Michael was at the stairs when he turned back and realised Liz wasn’t with him. “Liz,” he yelled angrily as he watched her with Max again. As much as he wanted to believe that Liz and Max were siblings he knew deep down he was wrong and what he feared the most was that the one thing he had used to keep the women he loved by his side would be the thing she used to leave him. Destiny.

“Lets go,” he told her.

Liz smiled at Max one last time before turning and rushing off after Michael and Maria.

Maria watched with interest from her table in the bar as Liz and Michael worked along side each other. Michael kept casting sideway glances at Liz who seemed to be oblivious to his longing looks.

The bar had been crazy when they arrived so Maria had pitched in until they had everything under control. Once that was taken care of she decided to sit down and think about everything they had learned tonight over a drink.

She could already see a change in Liz. She had a smile on her face like Maria had never seen before. Michael however was frowning and Maria wasn’t surprised consider the double blow he had been dealt tonight. Not only was he not the leader like he had always believed he was but Liz was also clearly not his mate. Maria knew that Liz had the same thoughts about the pictures that she did. Max was her mate and Michael was Maria’s.

***

“Liz,” Michael said as he approached Liz in the backroom. He had been trying to talk to her all night but every time he went to approach her someone else would come to the bar. Now they were closed and it was only the two of them since Maria had finally gone up to bed a half an hour ago.

Liz looked up as he entered, “yeah?” She had done her best to avoid his questioning gazes all night. She didn’t like the sad puppy dog routine, it had never worked on her, and it wouldn’t now.

He wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed the top of her head but frowned as Liz stiffened in his arms and tried to pull away.

“Michael don’t,” she said. “I just want to get his stuff done and go to bed,” she told him.

“Sound good to me,” he whispered suggestively.

“Alone,” she added.

Michael sighed, “can we talk?” he asked.

Liz closed her eyes. “Look Michael, I think you know what I’m going to say, it’s the same thing I always say it’s just that you refuse to listen.”

“I love you Liz,” he whispered, “and I know we belong together. Deep down you know it too, your body knows it and I think if you just stop fighting it you’ll find your heart does too,” he said trying to pull Liz back into his arms but Liz avoided his touch.

Liz turned and faced him then fire blazing in her eyes. “No Michael, that’s where you’re wrong. Yes my body responds to you but so does Maria’s. It’s the alien DNA inside of us,” she fired at him

“And don’t dare stand there and tell me what my heart says because you have no idea,” she snapped. “And you’ve never cared either.”

“I don’t want to hurt you, I never set out to do that but you don’t give me any choice,” she cried.

Finally having enough she lifted her hand and swiped it over the remainder of the glasses that still needed to be cleaned.

“I’m done,” she whispered her words having double meaning. “I’ll see you tomorrow around lunch time,” she informed him.

Michael felt his heart break as she walked away from him. “We belong together,” he whispered to her as she reached the door.

“Says who?” she asked. “I’ve been fed your story for over six months now, even though it never felt right here,” she told him touching her heart.

“The book I saw today seemed to tell a different story so what will you do then? Will you go to Maria and follow you destiny with her?” she challenged.

Michael stiffened. “I love Maria but we’re not like that,” he told her shaking his head, “and you don’t know what those pictures mean, like I said they’re most likely sibling matches,” he told her.

Liz snorted there was a lot she could say about his theory but decided it wasn’t worth it. She knew she was hurting Michael but it had to be done she couldn’t live in this hell any longer.

“Keep telling you that Michael,” she told him.

***

Max quietly but quickly pulled himself up the ladder leading to Liz’s balcony and once he reached the top he pulled his body over the top.

Liz’s balcony was alight with small fairy lights and he could see the well worn lounge chair that she obviously sat in a lot.

“Hey,” Liz whispered her head poking out from her window.

Max approached her window and crawled through it when she invited him in. “Hi,” he whispered.

He took a seat on her desk chair whilst she sat on the edge of her bed.

“How did you go with the book?” she asked.

“Is that really what you want to talk about?” he asked her.

“Yes, no,” she smiled.

“So you and Michael?” he questioned. It had been on his mind since Michael had revealed that he and Liz were together earlier.

“Yeah,” she whispered shifting uncomfortable. “But can we please not talk about that right now?” she asked.

Max looked away. “Sure,” he agreed.

“Did you know I was an alien?” she asked him then.

Max nodded and smiled. “The minute I saw you I knew exactly who you were,” he whispered.

“Who is that?” she asked.

“My beloved,” he whispered like a prayer and Liz’s eyes widened.

“Would you have ever told me about yourself?” she asked.

“Eventually yeah.”

Liz looked at the clock then it was close to four am and she was exhausted. “Will you stay with me tonight?” she asked.

Max looked at her bed and then to her pleading eyes. “Ok,” he agreed.

Liz went into the bathroom then and changed into some pyjama’s while Max stripped down to his boxers. He waited for Liz to come out and slide into bed before he slid in next to her. Liz turned on her side and waited for Max to spoon I behind her and it wasn’t until his arms wrapped around her waist that she closed her eyes and sighed in contentment before falling asleep.

Part 9

When Liz woke up the next morning she was surprised to find herself alone in her bed. She reached a hand out to the place that Max had laid and noticed that it was still warm.

“Out here,” he called and when she looked to where the voice was coming from she could see him sitting on her lounge chair on the balcony.

“What are you doing out here?” she asked sleepily.

Max held up the familiar silver book to show her. “Can you read it?” she asked.

Max looked at her “Yeah I can,” he admitted, “Some of it is confusing though.”

“What does it say?” She asked her mixed feelings showing on her face. Liz was scared about what the book would tell her. It could tell her that everything Michael had ever said about them being together wasn’t true like she suspected but at the same time it might tell her that Max was her brother and she didn’t know if she would be able to deal with that.

“I haven’t read enough to know yet,” he replied.

“Oh ok,” she whispered.

“I might head back to my apartment and read as much as I can before the meeting,” he said then. “You should go back to bed you haven’t been asleep long,” he suggested.

“Um ok,” she agreed she was still really tired.

“I’ll see you at Michaels later,” he told her as he stood up and walked towards the ladder.

“Yeah and Max?” she said.

“Yeah?”

“Thanks for last night,” she smiled.

“Welcome,” he told her.

***

Max closed his eyes and concentrated. He wasn’t sure if Liz realised it yet but since they had connected the day before to open the book he could feel her. He could sense that she was close by so he stood up and made his way to the door and prepared to head to Michaels.

Liz stopped dead in her tracks causing Maria to take a few steps by herself until she realised Liz wasn’t there.

“Hey,” Max smiled.

“You live next door?” Liz choked out.

Max’s smile dropped and he nodded. He knew what she was thinking.

“Am I missing something?” Maria asked confused at what the problem is.

Max shook his head. “No,” he told her. “Lets head inside I’m sure Michael is waiting for us,” he told them.

He held the door open as both girls entered and Max couldn’t help but place his hand against the small of Liz’s back to guide her into the apartment, which didn’t go unnoticed by Liz or Michael.

“So where is the book?” Michael immediately asked as they sat down, Michael and Maria on one couch and Liz and Max on the other.

Max looked at Michael as he placed the book on the coffee table. “I can read it but I think I know a way we can translate it to English so that you can all read it,” he told them.

“What do we have to do Max?” Maria asked.

“Liz and I just have to connect and then manipulate it,” he said.

“Ok let’s do it,” Liz smiled.

It was almost effortless for her and Max to connect. As soon as their eyes met it was open. Liz could feel how confused Max was about the information and events over the past two days but she pushed the thought away realising it wasn’t fair to invade Max’s privacy like that. Liz let Max take the lead and soon the alien symbols in the book swirled until they revealed words in English.

“Wow,” Maria said.

“Did it work?” Liz asked as her and Max let go of their connection.

“Yep,” Maria said and pointed at the book.

Michael reached for the book then. “Michael stop it just leave it alone,” Liz snapped at him. “We all want to know what it says so why don’t you just let Max tell us?”

Michael didn’t seem to like that idea at all but decided not to argue with Liz.

“So?” he said his eyes directed at Max.

“The book is kind of like a history book,” he explained. He picked up the book then and opened it to the page where there was an etching of the four of them holding hands. “We are the royal four,” he told them.

“Royal?” Maria gasped.

“Yeah,” Max chuckled.

“We have lived before but were killed young in the war that enslaves our planet. Our alien DNA was mixed with human DNA and sent to earth for a second chance,” he told them.

“A war?” Liz whispered, “I wonder what happened?”

“I’m not sure,” Max shook his head. “I haven’t completely finished yet.”

“What else does it say? Does it mention mates and siblings?” Michael asked.

“Yes it does,” Max confirmed.

All eyes were focused on Max then as they waited for him to reveal what he knew. “We are the royal four. I was King Zan. You Michael were Rath, my second in command.” he told him.

Michael looked at him a little disbelieving. “And me Max?” Maria asked before Michael could say anything. “You were Faith. You were Liz’s sister and betrothed to Michael,” he told her.

Maria smiled a little and then looked at Michael to see his reaction. “Who was Liz then?” he asked.

“Liz was Queen Eliza, my wife,” he said.

Liz let go of the breath she had been holding. “Wow,” she said a small smile unable to stay hidden as she though of what Max’s words meant.

“Why should we believe you?” Michael asked him then eyes narrowed.

“You don’t have to you can read it for yourself Michael,” Max informed him. “It explains who we are next to our picture.”

“If Liz was your wife then why are our pictures on the front and not yours?”

“The book explains I entrusted Liz to you. You were her protector,” He shrugged. “And when you turn the book over and open it out you can see that it’s just the way the book is folded that makes it seem like that.”

“You misinterpreted it,” Liz summarised and as soon as Michael looked at her he could tell that she was upset.

“Is that all Max?” Maria asked.

“That’s all I’ve read so far. I’m sure it will be easier now it’s in English,” he said.

“You’re right,” she said.

“I’d like to read it first if that’s alright with everyone,” Max told them then. “We can take turns after that,” he said.

“Why do you get to go first?” Michael snapped. He didn’t like how Max had just walked in and taken over. Liz was his until Max showed up, he was the leader until Max showed up and in the space of two days all of that had changed. Michael didn’t want things to change he was quite fine with how it was before and if Max thought Michael was going to bow down to him then he had another thing coming.

“Well in a way the book is actually mine so I think I should get to read it first, besides I’m already half way through it,” he replied trying not to let his temper get the best of him. Michael was making it perfectly clear how he felt about him and he suspected that right now Michael wished he had never laid eyes on him. Max had his own feelings to deal with about Michael. The book was his and should never have fallen into Michael’s hands and Max was angry that Michael had used the book and claimed it and Liz as his own.

“That’s fine Max,” Liz said.

“Yeah,” Maria agreed leaving Michael outnumbered.

“So Max, I meant to ask you yesterday about your powers?” Maria said changing the subject. As she tried to sleep last night Maria realized that there was still so much about Max and his life that they didn’t know and she had thought of a few things that she wanted to ask him.

“What about them?”

“What are they?” she asked.

“Oh well I can heal, manipulate molecular structure, I have a shield, I can alter memories and mind warp,” he said, “I’m sure there are more but they’re the ones I’ve mastered.”

“Wow,” she said shocked.

“That’s a lot of powers,” Liz said.

“What can you guys do?” he asked.

“Not much really.” Liz admitted, “We kind of had to hide who we were and that meant not using our powers.”

“Oh,” he frowned. “Don’t your parents know?”

“Both Maria and my parents do but Michael’s foster parents didn’t,” Liz answered for all of them. “But Maria’s dad is the Sheriff of Roswell and he thought it was best that we not use our powers at all that way there was less chance of someone discovering our powers.”

“Jim’s Dad was obsessed with aliens, he spent half his life chasing a killer so Jim knows first hand what can happen if someone gets that type of information,” Maria added.

Max nodded he could completely understand that. “My parents and sister all know and I was encouraged to use my powers as long as it was safely in the house and not on someone without them knowing,” he told them.

“Cool,” Maria said. “Do you think that you could show us?” she asked.

“Sure,” Max shrugged. “I think it’s important that we all know how to use our powers. The truth is we don’t know if we’re alone on this planet and we should be prepared,” he told them.

“I agree,” Liz nodded.

“So we should set up a training schedule and Maria and Michael I think the two of you should start training at the gym as well,” he told them. Both him and Liz were in very good shape but Michael and Maria would need to start working if they wanted to be able to reach maximum performance.

“Will you train us like Liz?” she asked.

“Sure you and Michael should come in together and I’ll assess you. Once we know where each of you are I can work out a program for you both.”

“Training isn’t really my thing,” Michael grunted.

“Ok,” Max said. “How about some self defense then?” he suggested.

“Whatever,” Michael grumbled it was clear he wasn’t going to be left a choice. If Liz and Maria were on board this whole training thing then he would have to be as well he was not going to let them go off by themselves with Max Evans.

“Great I’ll set it up,” Max said.

“Is that all today?” Maria asked then unfortunately she had to go to work, she would prefer to stay with the others and go through the book but someone had to be at the bar and today that was her job.

“Um yeah I guess I’ll try and get this read as quickly as possible and then I’ll hand it on,” Max informed them.

“Sounds good,” Maria agreed standing up. Michael walked her to the door and when Liz saw this she took the opportunity to turn to Max.

“Can we talk privately?” she asked.

“Sure,” Max nodded. “We can head next door to my place if you like?” he told her.

“Sounds good,” Liz agreed.

Liz stood up then. “I’m going to get a lift with Maria,” she told Michael and Max, but Max knew it was just a ploy so that Michael didn’t know she was going to be with him. He knew he had to talk to Liz. He had to get everything straight on what was going on with her and Michael before it drove him insane thinking about it.

“Oh you don’t have to,” Michael told her as he followed her to the door.

“I’m still kind of tired from last night so I think I’ll catch a nap,” she lied.

“Bye Michael, bye Max,” she said.

Once she was gone it left Max and Michael alone. “I’ll drop this over when I’m done,” he told him gesturing to the book in his hands.

Michael nodded and didn’t say anything as Max stood up and headed towards the door. “Later,” Max said but Michael had already switched the television on and ignored him.
