Inside Grace’s ICU hospital room, Jake was sitting in his wheelchair by his best friend’s bed as he prayed that she would come out of this and the doctor’s prognosis would be completely off, and Grace would make it through without any obvious impairment. “Hey Evans, you’ve got to wake up.”

“I am serious here Grace,” Jake smiled as he took her hand in his. “I don’t want to lose you from my life. You mean the world to me, and life wouldn’t be fit for living in it if I didn’t have you in it. Even if it doesn’t work out for us, you matter to me. So, wake up, please, pretty please.”

Silence greeted him.

“Come on Evans, wake up” Jake smiled. “I don’t care how grave the doctor tells us you are, or that they might not even wake up. But then look at your mother, she’s here and she and your father are even talking and united front. You would love to be watching this, even if they don’t come all the way back to each other. You want to be able to see it, so wake up,” he pleaded.

Silence again.

“Grace, please.” Jake asked as across the room, unbeknown to Jake or any of them quite frankly stood a heavenly vision. Grace stood watching Jake. “I am sorry Jake. I want to be here with you, with my father…heck with my mother and bring them closer together”

“You might as well go back Grace,” came a voice from next to her, and she stared. “This isn’t your time.”

“You again?”

“Yes, me again, and I don’t relish the idea that you are on my side of being alive or dead” Alex told the teenager. “While being over here has many of an advantage, one of them isn’t being alive or being with your love ones. This isn’t your time.”

“I am here for obviously a reason,” Grace batted back at Alex. “One could say it wasn’t your time when Tess aided your death.”

“It was, if I couldn’t be saved by your father even if he tried desperately.”

“Still, there has to be a reason I am here.” Grace asked. “Or almost.”

“Yes, you are. But that doesn’t mean I like it. You have a choice. You can go back Grace, back to your father, your family and friends and in
particular Jake.”

“Jake might be better off without me.”

“No one is better off without you in their lives,” Alex smiled. “Your father wouldn’t be one of them. Your mother that you don’t even know as a teenager. Your two sisters who didn’t know their older sister.”

“It feels like I can’t go back yet,” Grace said.

“You can,” Alex advised.

“Why do I keep seeing you?” Grace asked as she watched as Jake sat beside her beside. “Shouldn’t you be moving on?”

“Not until it’s time to go,” Alex said. “It’s my time to be here. It is not yours.”

“You don’t have to keep saying that,” Grace said. “Obviously I am not crossing over so there is reason why I am at this stage.”

“You’ve been going through a lot these last few weeks.”

“That I have,” Grace agreed. “And if you have any pull at all then tell them that I miss that ‘no drama’ life I had going there, as I don’t appreciate all this angst.”

“We all grow up” Alex smiled. “Angst comes when to everyone, no matter how old you are.”

“Well, I hate growing up.” Grace muttered. “I want it over with.”

“You should take a look at all you would be missing if you were to cross over and leave all those who love you and need you in their lives.” Alex
advised. “And we never stop growing up, unless you’re like me…dead.”

“So, I have a choice?” Grace asked.

“Do you trust your family?” Alex asked. “Your father?”

“Yes, more than life itself” Grace nodded.

“So, believe in that trust. Know that you have a lot to live for Grace, and a lot to miss out on if you go now… so go back and enjoy the riches” Alex said with a smile as Grace’s could feel herself fading…

“Thank you,”
she said before completely fading….

Alex smiled before vanishing himself while back in her hospital room, Jake prayed, and then he felt fingers start to move within his grip of Grace’s hand…

“Grace,” Jake whispered. “Come back to me.”

Eyes opened, staring deeply at Jake. Jake smiled and said, "Hey" as Grace's eyes took in her surroundings and just then her eyes connected with other eyes in the room.

Max and Beth were at the back of the room, near the door entrance. Grace's eyes darted between the two of them as if to take something she hadn't experienced. Not since she was two years old.

Her parents together in the same room.

Good for Alex.......he is so right.
I'm glad Grace woke up while Jake was there, and how wonderful to see her mom and dad together!
Can't wait for all of this happy family to be together.
Thanks,
Carolyn

Alex always did see the glass as half full. Well until the tramp blond turned his mind to Swiss cheese. Maybe it will be Grace that helps Liz regain her memory.

Great Chapter!!!! Love how Alex was there to help Grace and talked her into going back for her family. And Love how Alex is always there for Max, Beth and others. So Max and Liz are in the same room together. Hopefully Grace will talk to them. And still hoping Beth will remember everything as Liz really soon.

The rush of emotion that ran through Beth was a shock her to her system. Seeing the eyes open of the girl who was her first born, whether she remembered the experience or not created emotions and feelings she thought incapable of for anyone other than her two little ones, Alexandra and Carrie.

"She's awake," Max whispered in awed fascination. "You should never count out an Evans or Parker for that matter from a comeback, whether it is in life or death."

Beth nodded despite the lack of familiarity to the names as Max meant them and smiled as the doctors came rushing at the change in the machines coming from Grace's room. "The patient is responsive," Beth muttered as she tried to keep her emotions in check, unsure how to take the change in how she was responding to the situation.

"Let me check her out," Dr. Cook remarked as she took in the situation of the eyes opening of her patient who only hours before had been declared, gone. "Grace, can you hear me?"

Grace's eyes blinked twice and then to the victory of the room, she nodded her head slowly.

"Is your name Grace Evans?" she asked her patient.

Grace nodded carefully.

"You seem to be responding well," Dr. Cook smiled as she observed her patient. "Take it slow, and we'll start to take that tube out."

Elizabeth unaware of what was happening with her friend not long after the promising news from Grace, she snuck into the hospital. Instead of searching out her friend or even her brother, she took another detour.

She stood in a rage at the person in the hospital bed. "Ellis, you're an asshole. You wrecked Grace's life with what you did to her and she will never be the same, and I will make you pay for that."

Back at the Guerin household, after checking on Belle who was asleep in her bed and safe Maria came downstairs to find her husband Michael. "Where is Elizabeth?" she asked Michael, who was seeking a snack from the fridge.

"I would assume in her bedroom, why?" Michael asked as he evaluated the food in the fridge.

"I heard from the hospital, Grace is awake or at least her eyes are alert, and they don't know anything else yet." Maria smiled as she showed Michael her text message. "Max is extremely hopeful but I just went upstairs because I wanted to tell Elizabeth and yet she wasn’t upstairs, and nowhere else in the house from what I can tell so, where is she?"

"Colin," Michael asked of his son as the boy came into the kitchen.

"What?" the boy asked.

"Have you seen your older sister?" Maria asked. “Where is Elizabeth?”

"Nope, not since shortly after you got home from the hospital. I think I saw her heading upstairs, so I figured she went to bed, why?"

"I checked her room, she's not there." Maria said as worry crept through her as she thought of her eldest daughter and the streak of tempting fate that the next generation were exhibiting, which was the critical time in their lives.

"Damn it," Michael groaned as he realized just what his wife had to be thinking, as he also feared the worst and knew Elizabeth was liable to be a ticking time bomb. "Check the hospital,” he advised as he went to the phone.

*******

Meanwhile at the Sheriff department, there was cursing and pleading happening in the cell as Jim walked in. While he should be heading home to his wife, he couldn't help but come and deal with the suspect of the attack in the park. The Adams family were willing to press charges in the attempted attack on their daughter. And he knew that Max was determined to see death if possible come to the man who endangered his daughter's life. So, he wasn't sympathetic to the pleas come from the holding cell. "Let me go."

"Hell no," Jim muttered silently and went with a simple "No," to the suspect.

"It wasn't me," the man pleaded to the Sheriff. "It wasn't me," he repeated.

"We have you on 2 counts of assault, one attempted assault, one count of attempted murder, which could still be upgraded."

"It wasn't me."

"Well, we have your fingerprints Samuelson," Jim said. "I don’t see how you’re going to be released anytime soon."

"God, please. You need to listen to me when I say that it wasn't me."

"We know, you keep saying that and that is a lie since we have witnesses and fingerprints, so be quiet," Jim said as he spoke from nearby chair he was sitting in and looking at the holding cell. "You attacked a teenage girl and attempted to kill yet another teenager. We have detailed witness statements," Jim lied knowing he would have to speak to his granddaughter and Alexandra and Carrie before the twins left to head home to Connecticut.

"Look, they did something to me."

"How's that?" Jim asked a tad warily.

"I don't know but they did something to me, those girls, I think they did something to me as I don't even know how the knife got to the ground."

"So, you admit that the knife fell to the ground, and you picked it up and stabbed the girl."

"No," the guy said. "Look, I don't know I even got here to. Where am I, anyways?"

"Roswell, New Mexico. Are the drugs wearing off?" Jim asked.

"I don't do drugs?" the guy spat. "Are you profiling me Sheriff?"

"You admit to having the knife," Jim said. "We have your fingerprints, and fingerprints are funny things you know. They are snapshots of where you have been at any given time. And it's evidence."

"Look, I don't know how I got to the park. I wasn't even in Roswell this morning?

"Where were you?"

"Arizona?" the guy said.

"Well you were here now, and we have you. So, sit and decide what you are going to do or whether I should be calling your lawyer," Jim smiled as he walked away and spoke to his deputy before heading out the door to the shouts and pleading from the prisoner. Jim didn't look back and he had to wonder if they had another case of possession, and that could be tricky. But this time, the crimes that resulted were too numerous and complicated to turn away from, and he prayed it didn't get any more complicated if he got someone to listen to his pleas that the witnesses had done something to him. Why do I think he was pretty right on the money?

"Amy, I am coming home" he smiled as he phoned his wife. "Yes, I heard about Grace. Very positive...What, you heard from Maria. Elizabeth can't be found. Jesus, that girl. Okay, I will head to the hospital and see if she's there."

*******

"It's going to be uncomfortable," Dr. Cook said. "But take it easy, and you can handle it okay?" she asked as she assured the teenage girl as they got read to remove the tube from the machine. All signs were positive that the Grace was alert, and able to take in her situation. "It will be over before you know it."

Max said beside his daughter as he gripped her hand and was encouragement. Jake was sitting nearby. Beth was still taking it as it came, and didn't know what was going to happen once it all slowed down. The twins were nearby, watching. They had seen their older sister wake up, and were fascinated at the connection she had with Jake. And even glancing at their mother and the man who were their biological father. They seemed so at ease with each other, despite the extra ordinary situation they were all in, and so the two thirteen years olds were just taking it all in and absorbing it.

"How are you doing?" Dr. Cook asked as she tube came out, and Grace started coughing as she dealt with the shock of the movement. "Take it easy."

"Sore," Grace coughed talked as quietly as possible.

"Good," Dr. Cook said. "You have made a remarkable recovery Grace as we had thought we had lost you."

"I know," Grace said equally quietly.

"Do you know where you are?" Dr. Cook asked.

"Yes, hospital." Grace asked softly as she coughed from the effects of her sore throat.

"Yes." Dr. Cook smiled as she handled her patient some water with ice chips. "Do you know what time of year it is, and year?"

"April 2022?" Grace asked.

"Good, can you feel this?" Dr. Cook asked as took a pin and put against Grace's legs. "Any feeling?"

"Yes," Grace nodded.

"How about now?" Dr. Cook asked as tested her feet. "Do you feel anything?"

"Um... no." Grace as her face became nervous as she tried with everything she had to move her toes, feet."

"Take it easy," Dr. Cook encouraged. "You suffered a major injury, and time is needed for the swelling to completely go down. So, I don't want you take anything that might happen now for certain, time is on your side. Okay?"

"Okay?" Grace nodded.

"You've gone through a lot for tonight. We'll leave you to sleep, and we'll reassess when we do more testing in the morning, okay?"

Grace nodded.

"Okay, for anyone who is not family. Go home and Mr. Evans. I suggest only a few more minutes as your daughter needs to time to rest as she still has a lot to recover from in terms of her injuries. Okay?"

"Yes Dr. Cook," Max nodded as Beth took the que, and left the room with her daughters. Jake was hesitant but knew he at least had to make a show of leaving the room, so he rolled out of the room. Leaving Max with Grace and the doctor.

"Dr. Cook. My daughter will be fine, right?" Max asked as he gave his daughter a kiss on the forehead and watched as her eyes close, and she went to sleep. Sighing he wished this was only a hiccup. And plus, given who he was. He would do anything to help his daughter, and that included any paralysis.

"The injury was close to the spine, so it's natural there would be swelling. We will be doing more scans in the morning after we give her time to rest, and let it go down. I am confident it's not long-term situation that we are looking at, okay?"

"Okay!" Max nodded as they left the room, and stood by watching the teenager through the window.

"Why don't you go home and get some rest, as you can see Grace will be fine for tonight."

"I will, but you have my number. Call me if anything changes."

"Will do," Dr. Cook said. "Can I ask what is the situation with her mother. I understand you're not together, and you have custody of your daughter."

"It's only because we believed her mother to have died fourteen years ago when Grace was only two years old. You can see, she's alive now."

"What?" Dr. Cook asked in fascination.

"It's a long story. But somehow my wife ended up away from us, and suffered from amnesia long term, and only is now coming back into our lives."

"That is crazy," Dr. Cook remarked.

"It's very real," Max muttered.

"So, she doesn't remember Grace...?”

"Or me," Max said. "It's very new, so we're taking it day by day. Grace has a lot on her plate the last few weeks and therefore I pray you're right, and
this is only a small blip on the quest of her recovery."

"I am told she was pregnant, and suffered a stillbirth?" Dr. Cook.

"You saw her records?" Max asked.

"Yes," Dr. Cook nodded. "So, you're right she has suffered a lot lately..."

"Her recent experience didn't hindered this incident, did it?"

"No," Dr. Cook nodded. "This was entirely different" she smiled. "It's just evidence of all the strain she has put herself through lately, and she needs
time to recover completely."

"Let's hope so, doctor. Call me if anything changes," Max said. "I think I'll go and let her rest.

"Go," Dr. Cook said as they walked, and she went through some doors to another patient she needed to check on, while Max started towards the elevator and stopped when she saw Beth "Hey" he said.

"Hey!" Beth said. "Going home?"

"That is my intention, whether I make it home is another question. Where are the twins?" he asked.

"Getting a drink before we head back to the motel."

"Motel, right?" Max sighed and groaned at the memory of this woman, and how she and her daughters weren't even residence of Roswell and were staying at the motel in town. Where?"

"The one on the edge of main downtown," Beth said. "I gather."

"Do you need a lift?" Max asked as he already didn't think of the situation was odd with this woman who was his wife, and yet they were strangers and there was still this ease between them and he didn't know how to handle it. "You probably don't have a car, right?"

"We can take a cab," Beth said.

"It's late," Max said. "I know this is odd for you, and the twins and it's certainly odd for me but I am not letting you take a cab," as an urgent buzz came on which only sounded when there were important messages coming in on his phone. "Sorry, let me check this... damn it, I have to deal with this."

"What?" Beth asked.

"Elizabeth is missing," Max said.

"Who... oh, Maria and Michael's daughter?" Beth asked.

"Yes, their eldest as they have a young daughter who is six years old, Belle"

"Fascinating age difference," Beth asked

"You have no idea," Max smiled. "They suspect Elizabeth is here at the hospital and since we don't see her. That means, she is somewhere else, and I suspect I know where she went."

"Where?"

"I need to go to ICU," Max muttered as he walked away. "Come find me there when the twins come back, and I am driving you home."

"Okay," Beth nodded as she took a deep breath at the sudden sensation that came through as she watched him walk away. Oh, wow she whispered to herself.

“Wow,” she said out loud as she didn’t notice that someone who shouldn't be the room slid his chair right back into Grace's room, and wheeled himself to her beside.

******

"You might have accomplished something with this latest stunt of yours and our youth chapter of the clan," Jake whispered as he sat and watched Grace sleep. "You actually might get your parents back together" he asked as he saw the deep connection been his Uncle Max and the mystery woman who had come back into their lives. "Wow," he smiled. "It's something to watch Grace," he smiled and then frowned when he saw a text of his own on his phone that was on mute. "Damn it Elizabeth!" he turned his chair and whipped out of the room in a frenzy.

********

Elizabeth stood still and looked at Ellis with a murderous glare in her eyes. She hadn't heard about Grace's change in situation because there she stood wanting to do something about this menace and yet stopping herself. "I wish you were out of all of our lives." she said as she walked to beside his bed. "Someone has to do it. Yeah, I should be sorry for how you came to be in this hospital bed, but I am not."

"Don't Elizabeth," came a voice and she whipped and around and found her Uncle. "Stop!"

"Uncle Max," Elizabeth said.

"I know the temptation is great, but don't." Max warned. "You don't know what you will unleash if you do."

"He wrecked Grace's life, changed it forever."

"He did, and I wish he was no longer problem we had to deal with but taking Ellis permanently out of the equation is not what my daughter needs to
recover, and she will recover."

"How do you know?" Elizabeth asked.

"She's awake," Max said as the teenager's gloom and doom expression changed to one of hope. "She is asleep right now, but her condition will
improve" as he didn't want to the tell his goddaughter of the potential paralysis because that would send the teenager into an action they all would regret. "Don't give Ellis the power over you that he took from my daughter" as Jake wheeled into the room with relief going through him at the sight of his Uncle talking down his sister.

"You can see Grace in the morning," Max assured his goddaughter.

"Ellis still needs to be dealt with," Elizabeth muttered.

"Let Grace make that decision. He's taken a lot from all of us, and let us not give him the power to take anymore okay?" Max asked.

"Grace won't, because she feels guilty," Elizabeth muttered. "He....raped her... he hurt Grace" she said as Beth walked into the room, with her daughter's close by, only to hear the final remark and was shocked by it.

"Yes, he did, but it's not on us to do anything about it, unless she wants it. And then it's for the legal system to deal with."

"The legal system is a joke," Elizabeth muttered. "Sorry Grandpa," she said as she saw her grandfather and parents join the crowded field of spectators. "But it is, and this will be too complicated for the legal system to take it on....and you know that. Grace will be mincemeat by it. We need to deal with it, our way."

"Our way is not the answer," Max assured the teenager as the teenager was become more irrational by the moment, and now the green energy was starting, and it was alarming for everyone to see, and especially to be done within prying eyes.

"Elizabeth, stop it" Maria pleaded. "It's not the answer."

"Mom," Elizabeth said.

"Go see Grace, see that she's going to be alright." Maria said. "Stop this, please, for all of us."

"She's right sweet drop," Michael said as he cited his childhood pet name for his daughter. "It's not the answer."

The citing of the name calmed Elizabeth, and soon the green energy started to lessen and urgent need for vengeance lessened for the moment, and the urge vanished. "Fine" she muttered.

"Thank you," Max smiled at his friend, and then Elizabeth. "Go home Elizabeth, but first go see Grace, for yourself as I am driving Beth and her daughters back to their motel" he said before disappearing from the room with Beth, and the twins and the others took pause. Jake disappeared his parents could demand he come home. So, it left Maria and Michael with their daughter.

"Can I see Grace?" Elizabeth asked as she still stared with malice at Ellis.

"For a moment," Maria allowed. "Let's go."

"Thank you," Elizabeth smiled but leaned down, she whispered into Ellis' ear. "This isn't over, and plus, I have the gun." she said before walking out of the room.

"What did you whisper?" Michael asked.

"No worries," all Elizabeth said as she walked towards her friend's room.

"Jesus," Michael groan to his wife, who only shook her head. She didn't know who she had to worry more about right now, her son or daughter and she didn't want to find out as she took a deep breath and walked towards Grace's room.

And behind the unbeknowth to them, eyes opened. Of one Tommy Ellis.

*******

Across town, the car driven by Max pulled into the motel parking lot. It was late, and the twins had fallen asleep in the car, and Beth stared out the window as they drove. Neither knew what to say. It was such an odd situation, and it failed them. "They will sleep," Max said as Beth prodded the girls to wake up. "It's been an odd, wild evening.”

“It has,” Beth acknowledged. “Thank you much for the drive. The night flew, I didn’t realize it was so late.”

“Yeah,” Max said as they walked up the stairs to the rooms. Alexandra and Carrie were like zombies with their tired bodies marching towards their beds not even realizing the situation they were in. “Good night girls,” Max smiled. Alexandra turned around saw her mother and the mystery man. “Good night” she said as she hugged her mother. Carrie was already in the motel room.

“Good night,” Beth smiled. “Call me when you’re awake.”

“Will do,” Alexandra nodded. “Thank you for everything Mr. Evans.”

“Call me Max,” Max said to the mini version of Beth or even her older daughter Grace. It was odd to look at the girl and know that she was his daughter. Thirteen years had been lost. A horrible situation for all involved. “I know this is as odd for your sister and you as it is for your mother and me.”

“Okay,” Alexandra acknowledged the man’s request. “And it is” she said before vanishing into her motel room. Max turned to Beth. “You in with them?”

“No, I have my own room.” Beth acknowledged. “Because Alexandra was already here, she had a room. And Carrie is rooming with her. And I rented one for me.”

“I see,” Max nodded as they walked down the hall a few steps as they stopped.

“Thank you again,” Beth smiled. “I know you want to be at the hospital with Grace” she asked.

“I do,” Max acknowledged. But she’s awake, and that is all that matters…. for tonight, anyways.”

“It is,” Beth nodded.

*********

Inside Alexandra and Carrie's motel, Carrie had crawled into bed with her clothes on because she was too tired. But for Alexandra, any tiredness she felt was completely wiped away by the conversation with Max. "Hey, Carrie."

"What," Carrie groaned through her sleep. "Let me sleep."

"You can sleep if you want to, but I don't know how you can sleep after what we experienced tonight."

"Leave me alone," Carrie moaned through her pillow.

"We met our father," Alexandra asked in wonder and when she didn't get a response, she looked over and her sister was passed out. "Spoil sport," she murmured but found herself falling off to sleep with dreams of the kind she had never been able to experience, and now might just be around the corner.

*********

Back at the hospital, Elizabeth glanced down at her friend with confidence that her friend might be on the road to recovery. She sensed in the apprehension of her brother, and parents that there was still something about Grace's health they weren't telling her, but she knew what she was risking by going into Ellis's hospital room and deep down she was happy to be talked off the ledge. Too much risk was in her actions.

"We need to get home," Maria said her daughter. "Your father is waiting in the car, and it's very late so we have to get going."

"Okay," Elizabeth nodded as she walked to the door. "I assume we can't make you come home, right?" she asked her brother who was sitting by the beside of Grace.

"No," Jake said. "I'll stay here, and anyways I need to be here for my own surgery in a matter of hours."

"See you later," Elizabeth said.

"Don't do anything I wouldn't do," Jake snarked.

"Nice," Elizabeth smiled as she left, and Maria couldn’t help but look after while she shook her head. She knew she wouldn't get her son to come home, so she stopped trying so she followed her daughter to make sure she got to the family car, so they could go home and at least get a little sleep.

Once gone, Jake smiled down at Grace. "I am here for you Grace. No matter what happens with your ability to walk, I am here for you." he said quietly as he stared at the sleeping girl. "I love you." he said as he stared down but found himself drifting off to sleep in his chair, glad she was asleep, so she didn't hear his declaration because he knew that is not what they needed.

But Grace did here, her eyes fluttered open and then closed as she processed Jake's words. I love you too Jake. She thought but didn't dare say out loud.

********

Back at the motel, outside of Beth's room. She was reluctant to separate from Max and walk through the doors. She had seen the light go off in her daughter's motel room, and now she was standing outside her own. "It's late, I need sleep."

"I do too," Max admitted. "Thank you for all you did for Grace tonight. I am told your medical knowledge help give her some extra time because who knows if she could have been saved, if not for your expertise?" he asked.

"It was automatic," Beth admitted. "It's not a situation I expected to come into, but I am glad to be of some assistance. I am told Grace was in a tricky situation and her friend Elizabeth really didn't know what to do."

"It's hard for them. It's something we haven't really had to factor in, not since my sister, Michael and I were their age but we’re finding that the newest generation are now growing up, and having to face the same fear of being different and given they aren’t nearly as frightened as we were, it allows for more chaotic situations, like the one with Elizabeth tonight."

"Yeah," Beth admitted. "It certainly was a shock."

"I take it Alexandra and Carrie didn't tell you of their abilities?" Max asked.

"No," Beth admitted. "Although I had a moment when they were younger when I suspected something was odd after Alexandra and Carrie injured themselves in a mindless kid activity and yet came away with no lasting damage and so that feeling went away, and I lived in my obliviousness to
the fact my kids were unique."

"That was unfortunately the life my parents were living when I was the same age as the twins or even Grace."

"They didn't know?" Beth asked.

"No," Max groaned. "We didn't want to burden them because we didn't know much about our abilities, and we didn't want to risk putting them in danger when we did become wise to them. And frankly we worried about their reaction."

"Whether they could love you if they knew you were different."

"Yeah," Max admitted.

"That must have been how my own kids thought," Beth asked. "Can I ask, if I am think Liz person and we both know I am. Did I know, you know.... know?"

"About me?" Max asked.

"Yes," Beth asked.

"Yes!" Max said. "You knew."

"Did you tell me?" Beth asked.

"No," Max admitted. "You found out, some other way."

"How?" Beth asked.

"You nearly died..." Max said quietly.

"You mean I almost died one other time," Beth asked as she looked deeply into his eyes as she asked. "What happened?"

"There was a shooting..." Max muttered softly as he didn't want to explicitly go into their origins because it was too complicated and, yet Beth took it in, and into Max's eyes once again and then a rush of emotion....

A scream... “LIZZZZZZZ...” came a girl’s scream… BANG... dropping to the floor....

"Oh god," Beth murmured.... "A gun.... I saw a gun."

"You remember...." Max asked.

"I saw... I saw...." Beth as the flashes began, one after another and they provided a flood of feeling through her body...
"Liz, open your eyes. Open them for me"

Standing face to face on the balcony, as Max comes in for a kiss.... and they start to passionately kiss

"It was you."

Passionately glancing, stare contest as they walked around each other in kitchen scene, Crashdown before falling into each other's arms

“No, that day my life began. Liz, when I was in that room, and they did what they did to me. You’re what kept me alive. The thought of you. The way your eyes look at mine. Your smile. The touch of your skin. Your lips. Knowing you made me human. When I die tomorrow or fifty years from now, my destiny is the same: it’s you. I want to be with you, Liz. I love you.

Dialogue came from the Pilot and Destiny, and transcript is from foreverdreaming.org
"Oh god.... You.... "

"Me, what?" Max asked as he almost didn't want to know the answer. This woman who had defined so much of his life was face to face with him and as evident in their teenage hellish years, she had the capacity to provide the greatest hurt he had ever experienced and he didn't want to repeat that pain.

"You saved my life, you healed me." Beth asked as she stood shell-shocked in front of this man as a flood of flashes cascaded through her brain, and stuck.

"Yes," Max said cautiously.

"I am alive because of you, aren't I?" Beth asked. "I am Liz Parker, and I am alive because of you."

"Yes," Max as a flood of emotion flooded him as he finally saw this woman as his wife, and she looked at him with new eyes. They still had a tremendous amount of damage to repair, and history and to find out whether it was worth it. But for this one moment in time, they simply stared at each other and leaned in....

for a kiss.

and with the kiss, Alex Whitman smiled, “my work is accomplished, the rest is on Max and Liz” and then vanished as Max and Beth continued with the kiss.
THE END!

Author's Note:

You’re asking yourself, I “stopped here” when there is still so much to be known. Well, the story was growing “endless” and I was tired of it. And I was creating a lot of angst for the newest generation in particular… But still felt there was more to tell about the characters, as I loved all of them as the end still hadn’t come… So, I created an ending here, but started a spinoff of sorts called ”On the Razor's Edge”. I am still writing it, I just have to finish writing it.

Anyway,

Coming Soon… “On the Razor's Edge” We pick up the pieces, and ramifications of the unbelievable events of “Reunion”. Grace starts her recovery while Max and Liz are forced to face the people they are today, with the past and whether they can come together or what is best for them, and for their children. Grace and Jake continue on the rocky road that their parents once walked… Will they find lasting love again, and can they defeat the enemy that is Tommy Ellis… Or will someone from their parent’s past take it into their own hands to protect the gang, and what does it unleash? And how does the rest of the gang handle the new challenges...

And in the meantime, THANK YOU for all the comments and all the interest in this story. I very much appreciated the love for the story and all comments you guys have given me all these months. So thank you, it was my first story in the Roswell fandom. And I appreciate it very much, so thank you.

Wow is all I can say! I'm glad there is a sequel coming. There are still so many unanswered questions.

OK so until I read the Authorsummary note I was extremely upset at you for ending there, right when Max and Liz connnect, however after reading your note it has put me at some ease knowing I have somewhat of a sequel to look forward to, and believe me I will be eagerly anticipating that next part or journey of this lovely fic. Hopefully we can see Max and Liz go to their school Reunion together as well :D Oh and have a little bit of Eraser Room action at the school

I've been away with a death in the family, and the first thing I looked up was REUNION. With that short surprise ending I'm still hanging on for more.

You developed the characters in an interesting though sometimes frustrating way.
Love that Elizabeth was ready to take charge of the Ellis situation........and that Jake was at her bedside to repress his love.

When can we expect the sequel to start posting???
Many thanks for this marvelous story,
Carolyn
