Can't wait for more!
Was really impressed with Max's achievements & scholarships.
And now he will volunteer until he can get a MA license while Liz finishes her education.
Kyle is just plain jealous....
And I loved Liz taking a picture of the birthday cake before eating it.

Chapter 18

They entered the gated community. The drove to large Spanish style house with a circular driveway. It looked like the garage could fit four cars. The house had to be at least 4,000 square feet.

Max gave Liz’s hand a reassuring squeeze. “Mom and Dad are very down to earth despite their wealth. Mom worked as waitress through college and had scholarships. My Dad worked in landscaping during his summer breaks before law school. They started dating in college. I’m not fooling myself. My parents are going to go crazy about this, but I think in time they will accept you, our marriage and welcome you into the family. It may take a few years though.

“Mom, Dad, you home?”

“Hey Max, they will back soon. I’m in the family room.” Isabel called out.

Max led Liz into the family room. Max had told her his sister was beautiful, but she was not prepared for the gorgeous blonde in front of her.

“Isabel, this is Liz Parker, my wife that I told you about this morning. Liz, this my sister, Isabel Evans.”

“It’s a pleasure to meet you Liz. It’s her Max. You know. The mystery woman from your dreams. I just know it. I can see her aura. We could never see your face.”

“Max, what is she talking about?”

“Liz, I should have known. For years, I have dreamed of a dark-haired girl. She has aged as I have aged. I could never see her face. Did you almost get shot in your parent’s restaurant?”

“Max, I was shot but, I was only grazed. I have scar on my left shoulder.”

“Max was going out of his mind that night Liz. He thought he lost any chance of finding you.”

“Me finding you last night makes so much more sense. For some reason, I have a connection to you that I can’t explain.”

“Max, we should cool the alien talk. Mom and Dad should be home any minute now. So, Liz, tell me about yourself.”

“There is not much to tell. I grew up in Roswell, New Mexico. I’m the only child of Jeff and Nancy Parker. I just turned 21 years old yesterday. I came to Vegas with my friends to celebrate my birthday. I’m currently a junior at Harvard studying molecular biology. I plan to either get a doctorate or go to medical school.”

Max offered to get Liz something to drink. Liz and Isabel continued to talk like they had known each other most of their lives. Max could have been happier seeing his sister welcome his wife into the family. Then he heard the front door. His parents were home.

“Isabel, we are home. Has Max made it home yet?” Diane Evans called out.
“Mom, Dad, I’m home and we have a guest. We are in the family room.” Max answered his mom.

“We will be right there.” His mother answered him.

Liz was now setting between Isabel and Max. Each gave her hand a comforting squeeze. It a few moments she would coming face to face with her husband’s parents. His mother was speaking before she entered the room. She just assumed that Tess was with Max.

“Tess, it has been a long time since you have come to the house. How was your vacation?”

“Mom, Tess is not our guest. Mom, Dad. This is Liz Parker, my new wife. Liz, these are my parents, Philip and Diane Evans.”

“Max, did you say wife? We outgrew your practical jokes when you thirteen.” His father scolded.

“This is no joke dad. I met Liz last night and just knew she was the one. She is junior Harvard majoring in molecular biology. I will be returning to Cambridge with her on Monday.”

“Isabel, will you please leave so I can try to talk some sense into your brother. Max, have you lost your fucking mind? You start to work at the firm in nine days. You can’t throw away your future for some girl. You don’t marry the first girl that fucks you.” Philip was going to talk some sense into his son.

“Dad, I would appreciate if you didn’t talk like that to my wife. She’s not some girl. She has a name. It is Liz. What we share is so much more than sex.”

“I’m sure that Liz is a loving girl, but this seems a bit rash. How can you just meet someone and know that you want to marry them? How old are you Liz? Tell us a little bit about you.” Diane asked Liz as she tried to diffuse the situation.

“I just turned twenty-one yesterday. I grew up in Roswell, New Mexico. I’m the only child of Jeff and Nancy Parker. They own an alien themed diner. I worked in the diner once I was old enough. I work there on my summer breaks. I plan to get my doctorate or go to medical school once I complete my degree.”

“Twenty-one, she is just a baby Max. She hasn’t lived yet. She is probably after your trust fund did you think about that. Did you even think about a pre-nup?”

“Mr. Evans, the funny thing is my friends thought the same thing about Max. My grandmother set up a trust fund for my education. She didn’t want me restricted by a job to pursue my education. From an early age, I have talked about going into medical research. It doesn’t pay as well as a private medical practice. She wanted me to have the freedom to pursue whatever career I wanted.”

“What do you plan to do Max? How are you going to support yourself and your wife?”

“I going to use the trust fund that Uncle Cal set up for me initially. I have control of the account now since I’m twenty-five. I will volunteer at the free clinic until I can take the Massachusetts bar exam. I may decide to go back to school. There are plenty of schools to choose from in the area.”

“Can’t believe that you are throwing away everything you work so hard for your entire life. It would be very easy to file for annulment. You can end this sham of a marriage.”

“Dad, this discussion is over. I don’t want to say anything I may regret later. I hope that you will be able to welcome Liz into the family one day. I’m going get some of my personal things. I will arrange for Isabel to ship the rest of my things once I have settled in Cambridge. Come on Liz. Mom, I left your favorite cake in the refrigerator. I thought we might have a civil discussion over cake so you could get to know your new daughter-in-law better. I was wrong we will be leaving. When you cool down you can reach me on my cell phone. I will leave my new address with Isabel once we are settled.”

Max and Liz left to retrieve some items from his room. Diane left to speak to Isabel. Isabel always understood Max better than anyone.

Downstairs Philip was also making plans.

“John. It’s Philip Evans. I need your help with an investigation project.”

Well that meeting with the Evans didn't go well.
Now Phillip is going to investigate Liz.
I am glad Isabel seems to recognize that Liz is the one for Max.
Lots of talk about trust funds and prenups......sure is a rocky start for this marriage.

I've been waiting for an update here, Many Thanks!

We all know how much Phillip loves to investigate his children (from the show)! I hope Max won’t back down even though his parents are not being supportive. It is nice to see Isabel supporting her brother and Liz though. Looking forward to seeing the next chapter (soon, I hope)!

Chapter 19

<In Max’s Car>

“Liz, I’m sorry that my father said those things about you. I know you. Money is the last thing on your mind. I know it doesn’t matter to you.”

“Max, it’s fine. I didn’t take it personally. I’m sure my parents’ reaction will be similar tomorrow. We will make sure we talk to my parents in the apartment above the restaurant, away from all the knives. My grandmother would be a different story, but she is out of the country on an archeological site in Europe. She always encouraged me to follow my heart. Right now, my heart is leading me to you.”

“I know we haven’t discussed it yet, but I got the hotel room for another night. Once you said you wanted to try, I thought it would give me a place to crash until we go back to Cambridge. I didn’t think Mom and Dad would be ready to throw us a party tonight.”

“I was wondering. Maria has already told me that I can’t let you out of my sight. She told me she could take care of herself. She is not expecting me back at the room tonight. I will call her and have her pack my bag so we can get it when we pick up Alex and Maria.”

“I was thinking we could have breakfast with Isabel and Michael. I was happy that Isabel has welcomed you so easily. I’m sure Mom is pumping for more information on you as we speak. I hate to think what Dad is plotting. Michael understands the bond so I he will accept you.”

“Max, what about this dream girl that Isabel was talking about?”

“The dreams probably started when I was nine. There was this girl in a cupcake dress on a playground. I could tell she was embarrassed by the outfit, but her mom made it and she didn’t want to disappoint her mother. Then there was a dream about the girl at the school dance. She is sad because no one asked her to dance but her friend. I just wanted to be there to ask her to dance.”

“Max, my mom did make me a cupcake dress in kindergarten. Alex was the one that asked me to dance. The other guys just ignored me because I was a flat chested compared to some of the other girls.”

“Then there was the most terrifying dream of you getting shot. In my dream, you were hit in the stomach. There was so much blood.”

“Max, here is my scar. It barely nicked me. Something told me to duck at the last second. It was almost like an invisible force knocked me to the ground.”

“I’m glad that invisible force knocked you to the ground. There are still a lot of things I don’t know about my abilities. Maybe the connection between us formed since the crash occurred in Roswell. I just know that I want to know everything about you Liz Parker Evans.”

“I do as well, Max Evans.”

Max called Cal and arranged for the jet to take them to Roswell on Sunday and then to Cambridge on Monday. He also asked Cal to arrange for a rental car and hotel room on Sunday night in Roswell. He doubted that his new in-laws would be inviting him to spend the night in their home.

<Evans Home>

“John, this investigation is urgent. I need to know anything and everything you can get on Elizabeth Parker born in Roswell New Mexico currently a student at Harvard. If she has parking tickets or overdue library books I want to know. I want information on her parents, Jeff and Nancy Parker and her associates as well. I also need you to run Max’s credit cards from Friday and Saturday. You need to see what you can find out about his marriage to the Parker girl. I want to know if it was legal. This is a personal issue for me. I need as much information as you can find by Friday. If you need to travel to New Mexico or Cambridge go for it. I’m trying to prevent my son from making the biggest mistake of his life.”

“Sure thing, Phil. My men and I will get on it. I will get as much information on Elizabeth Parker you will know her whole life story warts and all.”

<Stratosphere Hotel>

“Kyle, would it have killed you to be friendly to Liz’s new husband. He seems like a great guy. I think that they are going to be extremely happy with each other. The way he looked at her tells me he is not interested in other women. He only has eyes for Liz.” Maria was trying to talk some sense into her stepbrother.

“I think he is a hypnotist and she is under his spell. They can hypnotize people cluck like a chicken when they hear a bell. Why couldn’t he hypnotize her to fall in love with him. Did you see the way she pushed me away this morning? Liz is not a violent person. It has to be his fault.”

“Kyle, that is about as bad as saying he is an alien and has her under some kind of mind control.”

“Stop nagging me Maria. Yesterday, I was Liz’s boyfriend. Now, she has married another man. It was sickening to watch the two of them together. I did agree to fly to Roswell with them. I don’t see how Mr. Parker will take this laying down. He is going to blow a gasket. It took me months to convince him to let me see Liz. Mr. Vegas is not going to stand a chance.”

“He has a name. It is Max. Would it kill you to use it!” Maria informed him.

“Both of you need to butt out of Liz’s life. This is her decision. I’m going to offer my support unless I find out he mistreats her in any way. Liz is a smart and capable woman. She can take care of herself.” Alex tried to diffuse the situation.

“I’m going to hit the tables. Have fun with at Circ de Sol with Liz and Mr. Vegas you two.”

<<<<<
The rest of the day Max drove Liz around Las Vegas to show her his life. She saw his elementary, middle and high schools. He showed her the building that housed the law firm he spent his summers working. He stopped at the mall that Isabel and Tess would make him, and Michael go to when they had their shopping exhibitions. Liz picked up a new little black dress and some silver sandals. She insisted on using her own money.

They returned to their room at the Bellagio to get ready for the evening out. They picked up Maria and Alex up at their hotel. The meal had less tension with Kyle’s absence. Maria and Alex decided to have a drink with their meals, but Liz and Max opted not to partake. Liz didn’t want anything affecting her before her visit with her parents. Max knew he couldn’t lose control in front of Liz’s friends. Liz, Alex and Maria were very impressed with the Circ de Sol show. Isabel had already made Max take her when the show first came out. Max still enjoyed the show again, especially being able to share the experience with Liz.

After dropping off Alex and Maria and getting Liz’s things, they left for the Bellagio. Max provided an address to the private airport and indicated that he and Liz already had breakfast plans with his friends. Maria was a little disappointed that she would not be able to meet his friends. She always felt that your friends were a reflection on the person. Alex had similar thoughts. Max knew that Liz’s first meeting with Michael should be an alien only meeting. He thought some alien topics could come up. He needed to reassure Michael. It would be easier without Liz’s friends for this first meeting. He was going to make sure any townhouse or condo would have at least three bedrooms. They would need a guest rooms so Isabel and Michael could come for visits.

<Bellagio Hotel>

Soon, Max and Liz found themselves back in the Honeymoon suite. Liz was a little nervous. She hoped that Max was not expecting anything tonight since she agreed to return to his room. It didn’t take long for Max to pick up on her nervousness.

“Liz, I’m not going to put any pressure on you tonight. I agreed that we are going to take our time to get to know each other. I will sleep on the couch tonight.”

“Max, I wouldn’t dream of kicking you out of your own bed. It’s a king bed. I don’t have a problem sharing with you.”

“Are you sure? I can’t promise that my body will not respond to you. I find you very attractive. I wasn’t lying when I said I’m not a fan of porn. You are much better than anything in those magazines. Get yourself ready for bed, beautiful. I’m going to get a shower when you are finished.”

Liz was already laying in the bed when Max returned from his ice-cold shower. She looked so beautiful to him just sleeping in his bed. He quietly climbed into the bed. He vowed to keep his promise to her. He would wait as long as it took for realize alien bond or not, they truly loved each other.

Ohhh... new chapters! Yes!! Thank you! Thank You!

Senior Evans are not very kind to their daughter-in-law  They had forgotten their roots & challenges they had to face while progressing in lives and did not give Liz a chance to be a family member. What a pity!

I hope Parkers are more grounded.

Michael will be just himself & will interrogate Liz to the core for no doubt. At least Izz welcomes Liz into the family :)

Can’t wait to see the explosion between Michael & Maria when they meet again.

Please update soon

To be fair to the senior Evans... there was a lot of that conversation that was implied by the fact that they knew each other well.

IE “You know that girl I’ve been dating for years, she’s out of the picture now. This girl you’ve never met beside me is my wife now. I know I was going to be joining your law firm but now I’m moving across the country instead.”

It’s a bit much to take in all at once.

But no they didn’t handle it well.

Great parts! I can’t wait for more.

Author's Note: I hope everyone is doing well. I'm hoping I have more time to work on my current stories. I started to work from home last week.

Chapter 20
Sunday September 5, 2004
Bellagio Hotel – Honeymoon Suite

Liz was the first one to wake up. Sometime in the middle of the night she had abandoned her pillow and used Max’s chest as her pillow. She had had the sweetest dreams last night. Her and Max were pushing a baby stroller and playing with the child. She couldn’t tell if it was a boy or a girl, but she knew they were blissfully happy as a family. She lifted her head to look at his beautiful face. How did she ever find a man like Max? She felt so comfortable with him. It felt right being in his arms regardless of the alien bonding. She would love to know why he had been dreaming of her most of his life. There had to be an explanation. She still had a lot of questions about his alien status.

Max woke up to see Liz’s beautiful face staring up at him. She had been laying on his chest. He didn’t mind. He knew he was already addicted to her being so close. He only hoped that she felt the same way. He didn’t know if he could sleep without her by his side again. He wondered if she had shared the same wonderful dream he had last night of the two of them with a baby. He was not going to mention it. It was yet another thing they hadn’t discussed yet. He hoped that she would want to have children with him one day.

“Good Morning, Liz. Did you sleep well?”

“I did. I hope I didn’t wake you. I didn’t mean to sleep on top of you.”

“I had a wonderful night of sleep. You curled up against me just feels right. I’m not making uncomfortable sharing a bed at this point in our relationship.”

“No Max. I will be honest with you. I liked it. It just feels right but I will let you know if you do something that makes me uncomfortable. I better get my shower and get ready so we can meet Isabel and Michael downstairs for breakfast.”

“Get moving. We have a half-hour before we meet in the restaurant. Michael’s father is former military, so he is always punctual. I’m sure Isabel will also inform us if my parents had any more to say on the situation.”

Soon the pair were ready to go downstairs so Liz could meet Max’s family for breakfast. She had taken her clothes into the bathroom so she wouldn’t have to parade around Max in a towel. He was being very patience with her, she didn’t need to drive him crazy. She was looking forward to seeing Isabel again. She hoped that Michael was as accepting of her as Max believed he would be.

<Bellagio Restaurant>

Max and Liz made it the restaurant on time to find Isabel and Michael waiting for them. Michael was impatient to meet the woman that had captured Max’s heart so easily. He never believed in destined mates so wondered if it was possible for a human to love someone like him. Isabel knew that Max had found the woman he had always been dreaming of most of his life. She was going to miss her brother when he left for Cambridge. They had never lived in different towns.

“Michael, I’m so glad you could make it on short notice. This is my new wife Liz Parker. Liz this Michael Guerin, my best friend who is like a brother to me.”

“So, you’re the woman that finally captured Max’s heart. It’s a pleasure to meet you Liz.”

“It’s nice to meet you as well Michael.”

“I got us a table out on the patio. I thought you should take advantage of the nice weather before you both head East with cold winters.” Isabel informed the pair.

It was a more relaxed atmosphere, compared to Max’s lunch with Liz’s friends. They opted for the breakfast buffet with omelet and waffle stations. Liz and Isabel went through the line first followed by Max and Michael. The alien trio felt at easy and used Tabasco sauce without worry since Max had explained the dietary quirk on Saturday to Liz. The previous day with Liz’s friends, Max opted for the spiciest options on the menus for lunch and dinner. He didn’t want Liz’s friends questioning his dietary habits when he was just getting to know them.

“So, Max finally found his dream girl. He was about to make the biggest mistake of his life. I knew he cared for Tess, but I knew that Max would be hurt if he ever found his dream girl.”

“Isabel brought it up yesterday because of one of her gifts. Max and I talked about the dreams later and many matched my experiences.”

“So, you are at Harvard. Max had me go on a road trip once to the Ivy League schools in search of you. But if you are just a junior now, we went when you were still in high school.”

“Why is this the first time I’m hearing about this, guys?” Isabel asked her brother and her friend.

“Like you would have approved of this adventure.” Michael countered.

“Did you have a plan if you would have found Liz on your tour?” Isabel asked her brother.

“Not really, I just wanted to see if I could find her. I don’t know what I would have done. I don’t know if I would have approached her Friday night if I was sober. That is enough about that adventure. I’m just happy that I found Liz and we are together now.”

“I am too, Max. It has been a whirlwind the last few days, but it just feels rights. There has to be a reason we share this connection.”

“Max hasn’t told me much about you Liz. Maybe you can fill in some of the blanks.”

“Well Michael, I grew up in Roswell New Mexico. My parents, Jeff and Nancy Parker run an alien themed restaurant called the Crashdown Café. It has UFO on the outside of the building. Of course, I had to work there from the time it was legal. I bussed dishes initially, then I became a waitress. I had this ugly waitress uniform mini dress with antenna and silver alien head apron. I grew in an alien obsessed town. My parents don’t believe the crash happened but several people in town swear it happened. A few believe they were abducted. The FBI had the nerve to send an agent to our high school after a reported sighting in Fraizers Woods. There were various conspiracy theories going around town. One was there were alien children being raised by human families. Some were trying to say other classmates were aliens. My friends and I exposed the agent that was uncover first as substitute math teacher and then a guidance counselor.

Kyle and his father Jim were always upset by these theories. Kyle’s grandfather was one of true believers. He was ridiculed and called Deputy Martian. He has dementia now and is in a nursing home. Kyle’s dad is sheriff now, so he got the FBI out of town quickly. He didn’t appreciate them harassing minors.”

“I glad you had adults on your side that stood up to the Feds. Your town has nothing to do with our issues.”

“Max, I don’t blame any of you. People in my town just let their imaginations and the conspiracy theories take hold.”

“Well Maxwell, you found yourself a smart, intelligent and sane human. Congratulations. I just hope I’m as lucky as you one day. All I seem to attract is the crazy factor of the human race.”

“Some of the women you have dated haven’t been that bad.” Max countered.

“Are you forgetting about Courtney the stalker? Isabel had to come to my place so she could catch us in bed together for her to get the message.”

“What were you doing sharing a bed with my sister, Michael?”

“Brother dear, you can cut the protective big brother routine now. Absolutely nothing happened. We were both clothed underneath the sheets. You know Michael and I don’t think of each other that way. Liz, I hope your prepared for his protective streak.”

“I think it sweet. I think I can manage it Isabel.” Liz informed her new sister-in-law.

“I hate for us to eat and run but we need to meet Liz’s friends at the airport for our flight to Roswell.”

“Liz, it was nice meeting you.”

“It was nice meeting you as well, Michael. Max has already said we will get a place with a guest room so don’t be a stranger and come and visit anytime.”

“I’m going to miss you so much, Max. This will be our first time truly apart. Liz, please take care of him for me.”

“I’m going to miss you too, Izzy. As Liz said, we will have a guest room. You can visit anytime you like once we get settled in a new place. Don’t let mom and dad drive you crazy when I’m gone.”

Hugs were exchanged among the group before Max and Liz left for the airport.
