Night. Darkness and silence were pefect for actions like this. Her reasons pushed her this way – to run. That's why she wasn't sleeping.

Liz Parker spend another night without sleep. But this time she had a cure for it. A medicine for all problems. Vermont. Remedy for her strongest trouble – for Max Evans.

Green spraks crossed her delicate skin, making her gasp.

She used to think that she'll always be with Max, nothing could tear them apart. And now she was running away from him and her own body reminded her someone, who changed her life into hell. Someone, who one day in Spetember played God and draw her into kettle of 'alien things'. The one, who had saved her, now was killing her. Ironic...

She packed her clothes, not even thinking if they were creased. All she wanted was to dissappear on the station, in the fusty bus, which would take her far away.

Away from Roswell, from Max and from this poisoning thought, which was hounting her mind. Memory of petite blonde and her child. Max's child. She still couldn't believe that it really had happened. He wanted her sacriface, risking her life, to give away all she ever wanted. Now he demanded her to help him.

No. That was enough. She tried, really tried. And she would do anything for Max. For that old Max, her Max. Now he was completly strange. Sometimes she didn't recognise him. Determinated and blinded by his maniacal aims. Once she didn't even thought that her happiness could fall down so fast.

There won't be 'and they lived happily ever after'.

She closed door to her room and went downstairs. Parents were waiting. She didn't even know who was more satisfied by her leaving, her or maybe worried parents. The truth was that she wanted run from them and their questions too. It was the most bitter – she had to get rid of everything connected with her previous life.

On the station she was thinking just about the bus and leaving it all behind. She needed to be strong and independent, so she could build herself once again.

Dark eyes were searching timetable. Vermont 0:40. But her gaze moved further, through names of cities written in yellow paint.

Behind her there was exit, which lead to her life, to hell. Now she was staning on the crossroad. She could choose safe Vermont, where was waiting her 'goody perfect miss science and nice doughter' part. On the other hand she could do now something new, find new place where she could breathe.

If she was running, whe shouldn't she cut this umbilical cord?

She closed her eyes, counting silently. 10...9...8... she needed bravery for this... 3...2...1. She opened her eyes and her gaze felt on some yellow letters

S e a t t l e

- You want something? - barmaid voice broked the noise

Guy eyed her carefuly. Left corner of his mouth rised slightly. He was waiting for eye contact. One moment and... he got her. Her lips parted and then she smiled.

It was so easy.

- Please, mercy – some girl sitting next to him groaned – I'm sick of it.

The boy shooked his head and reached for peanuts. Barmaid was still looking at him. Sweet pride and amazing taste of another victory were running through his mind. Now he only needed to wait for a phone number or adress.

Brunette, who was observing him, jumped, feeling vibrations. Paiger. She didn't even looked at it, she knew who was it.

He didn't know when she dissappeard. Now he was more interested in barmaid, sending him purposeful looks. Max was trying to find a reason for his passes, but she always arrived with one thing - man and their ego... Maybe it was his ego, who made him looking for new girls, but he was the only one who knew that something different was stopping him before relationship.

- We're going – brunette said and turned around

Weariness filled his eyes. He was counting on a interesting evening and now she wanted to ruin it. He looked at the barmaid, waiting for her move. But someone else moved first. Max grabbed his ear and pulled it.
- Alec, move - she was impatient

He capitulated.

* * *

The seat was uncomfortable and after few hours her back were aching. Head resting on a dirty glass was pulsing with memories.

All memories rolled through her mind. From the sweetest, like from fairy tale, when she was feeling like a queen, to those bitter and leaden, when everything was falling apart.

Piece after piece. During few months she has been loosing pieces of idyllic life and hope that some day she will be really happy. First there were clouds of destiny, which extinguished the fire between them. Then some force extorted her soul – Alex died. And since then it was getting worse with each day.

She raised her hand, looking at her olive skin. No green sparks or alien exanthema.

Maybe it wasn't caused just by the healing two years ago? When she was thinking about it, she started to realise that her consciousness was reacting to instantly.

Profesional psychologist would say that it's some kind of defense. And Max was her danger.

Something tugged the bus. Her stomach cramped. They sped up. But she saw the old board informing that they were now in Seattle.

* * *

Alec watched with average concern the figure standing on the shelf. He knocked on it several times. Pretty thing. Pretty and useful. There was no sense in having such things, especialy cause it was expensive.

- Alec – voice of brunette sliped by his ear
He raised his hand, letting her know that they can talk and not care about him.

Max sighed and rolled her eyes. Why she took him with her, if he wasn't even interested in the case? Logan's case.
- Ok. What is it about? - she asked, not taking her eyes from Alec
She had to watch him, so he couldn't steal anything. It was their way to get money, but she didn't like stealing something what belonged to Logan.

It was some kind of respect. Or maybe not just respect. But the truth was that she couldn't say it loud.

- It's important – when it was about saving the world he always was serious This time his voice made them listen. Well... one of them. Max. Alec was busy with scraping paint from the statuette, so he didn't listen.
- Last case. Bystander. He comes tonight. But I know they want to kill him. – Max was listening blankly – Someone have to deliver him to the court.

Max looked at him carefuly. She didn't know if it was his tone or this case, but she was hesistating. Maybe her sense of generalship was whispering in a low voice that they won't succeed.

- When? - she asked
- Tonight.

Alec snorted turning back. He looked first at one of the paintings and then at Logan. Sometimes he didn't understand him. Worse... He never understand him. Save the world – noble and stupid.

- Where? - Max asked, turning to leave
- Bus station.

* * *

Cold wind blew away frowst. One step, another...

Air in Seattle was different than in Roswell. Not so dry and wild. Here it was damp, cold and full of strange melancholy. She liked it.

New place. New Liz Parker.

She took her bag and went straight to the bus station. She wanted to start a new life, but she was scared of it. Who knows what this city will bring?

2.

The station wasn't looking how she imagined it. But maybe here everything was linked – different climate, different places, different people.

There was no cosy corner, no warm night. Few people were there on the cold and desolated station, not even noticing each other.

That brought a new element to her new life. From now on everything was supposed to dangle around her. She had to be more selfish, stop looking at her past, especialy she needed to set free from others. She needed to be independent.

She put her bag on the floor, trying to gather spilled thoughts. Here was her aim. Now she needed to invent what to do.

Her eyelids were glued with sleep. She couldn't even take one step. Somewhere deep inside her mind there was one thought about warm bed and attractive smell of milk. Just senses were still not liking this place, like she was anticipating something.

She shook her head and forced her eyes to open. No feeling. There was too many of them in her past, cosmic, poisonous world. Now she needed to use her brain and strenght to reach just a scrap of rest. Here no one will help her or treat her like a porcelain doll. Any strange, alien feelings or flashes weren't suppose to be here!

She bend down to take her bag. Someones body hit her, leaving permanent stain... Some pictures shoved through her mind in black and white flashes. Like from some kind of action movie or even science-fiction. Cold, snow, little kid killing a soldier.

Her lungs demanded for another dose of air, whn flash ended leaving tingling in her fingers.

* * *

- Lets look aroung – it sounded like an order, although it was a whisper
He fallowed Max without objection. Their eyes were catching every details on the station. Each suspect fault was encode inside their heads quickly.

They split up. There was no time for any plans or cold distance. At least for him. If someone was wierd or dubious, he would kill him. They taught him that. He lived like that. There was no time for hope. He couldn't wait for someone else to do it for him.

He looked at his partner. She was walking straight to the man with a newspaper. Pupils deepen, catching man's pocket. He could tell right now whcich model of gun it was.

He speed up, not taking his eyes of his object. Unfortunately someone was standing on his way.

Developed neural send imediately impuls, which brought strange prickling sensation. Something frustrating in his stomach. .

'First rule – accomplish the assignment' he ignored emocional weaknes and returned to his task. His senses stained, adrenalin exhaled, he was almost running. He saw a gun and he knew what was going to happen. He needed to take down all his enemies. Max will protect the witness.

He grasped man's wrist, snatching away the gun. Two other quick moves were enough to exhaustion.

But then hell started, which he could foresee.

* * *

Liz imediately turned around, staring at back of man, who ran onto her. If she was in Roswell, she would blush and even apologise. She was used being treat like a doormat. But here she wasn't going to be a sponge, which absorbs others mistakes. Hell no! She was going to scold this guy and kick his ass.

First shot hit the ceiling. There was a silence, like everyone were dead. Dark eyes saw two persons, which were moving extremaly fast and knocked down few aggressors.

Each normal person would fall on the floor and beg God for life. But for her it was ordinary situation. Fusillade, fear, night, jumping from bridge, lieing, atacking, breaking in... during those two years she broke the law so many times.

But she admited that it was a good life lesson. Now bullets were flying around her and she was observing everything with stoical calm.

She wasn't scared of death, but something else was frightening her. Two persons were killing attackers so easily. Superhuman speed and agility, huge strenght, fluent movements... It reminded her cosmic genetic.

Did aliens took control over the Earth?

But they couldn't be aliens – rationalism was whispering to her. If they were aliens, they would just raise their hands and...

She couldn't finish her thought, when she heard another soht. And next second she felt tug and pressure of someones body.

* * *

They both were fighting. Max was amazing in her job and he looked at her for a moment. Just a moment. Because he had other things to do. 'Accomplish the assignment'. He knocked down two other man's looking like a predators.

He look around insurancely. People were runing to exit. Max bend down over somebody. There was no doubt, it was a witness. A dead witness.

He took a step frward, when his senses made him turn around. Another man with a gun came in. And he was aiming to him. But there was a girl standing between them.

Alec blinked. For Gods sake why was she standing there? Why she hadn't run?

There was no time for thinking. Shot. Faster than it was possible he run to her. Using his force he pushed her. They both fall on the floor.

Hi. I have a new part for you. Hope, you'll like it. :D

3.

But there was a girl standing between them.

Alec blinked. For Gods sake why was she standing there? Why she hadn't run?

There was no time for thinking. Shot. Faster than it was possible he run to her. Using his force he pushed her. They both fall on the floor.

He looked at Max, who was fighting with the same guy who was shooting. Cold relief filled his veins. He was about to stand up, when his gaze found face of the girl lying under him.

Strange.

Hundreds of warm little neeldes spiked his body and mind. Thoughts werecircling around this enjoyable tingling. His body reacted really fast, when he saw her dark eyes and tempting parted lips. God, he wanted to press her harder to thre ground and feel her shiver.

Maybe he would do this, if he only knew how dissociate she was. And it wasn't about thought that she could die. Her body was trembling because of the strange, hot waves inside her. Something was filling her with fear and delicacy. Heart was beating fast. In her whole life she was feeling like this just in two cases – when she saw Brad Pitt or Max. So she looked at the culprit.

And nothing.

She saw him for the first time in her life, there was no doubt. Neither Brad nor Max. However, she had to hold her breathe, seeing sparkle in his eyes. Is it possible to want somebody you don't even know?

- Lets go – a whisper above her head ruined everything

He stood up. For a moment Liz was still lying on the ground, blinking and wondering, what really happened. She sat, looking at those two persons leaving the station. She heard police cruiser.

She had to go.

She glanced at the dead body. Blood and dust. It was so familiar.

* * *

They stoped. Max left her motocycle and went inside a building. There was nothing better than telling Logan bad news. It wasn't about disappointing him. It's just... he liked to tell those serious, wise things about his mision and catastrophe.

Alec groaned. Every failure Logan was treating like another step to the apocalypse. But this kind of end of the world wasn't coming. And human collapse was a past.

- Hey – nice, soft and sexy voice rivet his gaze
He eyed the whole person. A girl with blonde hair and light blue eyes.
- You have a nice... - she looked at him lazily - ...bike.
Lef corner of his mouth rose in an arrogant smirk.

- You want to... - his tone was the same as hers - ...ride?

* * *

As soon as she got into the taxi, it started raining. When the driver asked where to go, she said to some motel.

Motel.

Once she would shudder thinking about spending even one night in such place. But here she hasn't got any apartment or anyone with whom she could stay. She had to hang on. It also was somekind of test.

The old Liz Parker was sleeping in a warm, safe bed. New Liz can sleep on hard motel mattress.

They passed by next, grey streets. Even hydrants were repulsive and scary. Maybe it wasn't the best place for starting everything from beginning? What pushed her here?

With ultrasonic speed came back sour memories of pain, which lasted for over halef a year. That was enough motivationfor her. Wonder what max would ays if he knew where she was? If he knew what had happened on the station, if he saw Seattle? She couldn't even imagine his face when he would hear that she will be sleeping in some motel. Alone.

A light smile of amusement appeared on her face, when she tried to imagine look on her friends faces. Maria would have a hyperventilation, and Kyle a laugh attack. And Max... suprisingly she didn't care what he would think.

But it had to be like this. Max had to worry about her physical condition and she will take care of her psychic.

Taxi stopped by the small, grey building. So this was the place, where she had to build her new home.

Finally! I translated another part... jeezz... I had so many exams, that there was really no time... Hopy you'll forgive me this retardation and all mistakes in translation. I want to translate everything by myslef, cause it's a really good practise - I have also english exams.

Calinia - yeah, the mood was important for me. I think the background of the story, like atmosphere is really important. Oh, and portraying Alec was difficult - he's such a complicated person... not so soft and not cold. Hehe. I hope you will like him in my story. And other characters (like the one that will appear in this chapter)

alexceasar - yes, there's no other way. Love him, love him, love him!

WomanofMystery, burningchaos, orphyfets, Roswell Slayer, cowlady - thanks for waiting!

4.

People passed her by, like she didn't exist. It wasn't nice, but it stimulated those proper instincts. Alone, she had to find a whichever phone. No, not whichever. She found that kind – and there was no earphone.

She rubbed her nose, thinking who needed earphone. The whole phone she could understand, but earphone...

Nameless, anonymous faces. Like robots. She needed this. Definately. She didn't have to worry that she'll meet someone unwanted or that someone will notice her. She stopped, looking around. There was no heaviness which she had on her arms in Roswell. She didn't have to hear Maria's whine, or to help Isabel. She didn't have to avoid questions of her parents and Max. Max – she had to set free from him.

She was free, so she could do anything she wanted to and not to worry about effects. She could call her parents.

She found phone, probably the only working in this city. After few second she heard familiar voice.

- Hello? - Nancy Parker never sounded better than in this moment – Yes?
- Mom... - Liz said quietly
- Sweetheart! Is that you? Jeff it's Liz! - mother started to ask so many questions – And how is it Liz? How was your trip?
Bad. Uncomfortable seats, sultriness, retch. Awful.
- Good – she answered

She was sure that mom was smiling. Some whisperes – dad was listening her to.
- And how's Vermont? School?

School. Vermont. Hmm... far.

It was time for conversion. Words which she should say stuck in her throat.
- Good – she said automatically
She knew her parents. They wouldn't believe it. She could lie or say the truth. Nice room in Vermont or real Seattle? Goody-two-shoes or rwal Liz? Parents happiness or heart attack?

- Umm... I have really nice room – first lie was a piece of cake – And a great roommate...

She'll burn in hell.

- Does...
- I have to go now. Bye! - she hung up

Now she wanted to cut off the earphone and throw it to the river. She hatedwhen she had to lie. She wanted to find new self, but she couldn't start it with a lie. She sighed. Fear didn't left her. Why was she scared?

That it was a bad idea coming here?

Jingle. The phone revealed some coins. Liz took her wallet to take the change. Bang! One second and a tall man with purple hair was running... with her wallet.

There was no time for thinking. She severed and ran after him. She was shouting, what was of course stupidity, because a normal thief would never stop. Suprisingly she found strength in her tiny body. She grasped his arm, but he run again. She was helpless. Watching him run into some dark lane. Bye, bye wallet...

Suddenly the man fell on the ground. Liz was shocked. She saw someone next to him. She took one step closer, glaring at the thief, who was being hit...

...by a girl.

Small blonde girl was throwing him like with a toy. Liz wanted to come closer, but someone wrapped his arms around her.

Whoever it was, she didn't like it. If he was thinking that she was defenceless, he was wrong. So wrong... She just waved her hand and he flew a few meters away and hit the container. Unconscious.

- Nice – someone muttered

A blonde girl, with short hair, a bit taller than Liz. She gave her a wallet. Liz was shocked. In this cold city, someone helped her? Wow. She mumbled „thanks”, not knowing what else to say. A blonde looked once again at the unconscious man and than turned around. She walked away.

- Hey! Wait! - Liz tried to stop her

But she didn't even turn her head back. She disappeared, leaving Liz alone. Well, with her wallet. Liz opened it. Documents – yes. Money – none?!

The man with purple hair didn't have time to stole them, so there was just une equivocal... Liz looked in the lane, where the blonde girl disappeared.

Saving and stealing – strange person.

* * *

Awful yellow ceiling. She never seen something like that before.

But just few days earlier she lookd the same, like this ceiling. Cracked, scattered, full of poison. She was moldering from inside. But she ran away and began building everything once again. And the ceiling doesn't have a choice, it has to fall apart. .

She was lying on her back with her hands on her stomach. Mattress wasn'r hard, contrary. It was so soft, that she subsided. The room was smaller than her bedroom in Roswell. One dirty window. Nothing special.

But now it was her apartment. It looked worse than her room in Roswell, but just from the outside. In fact it was mor important. In Roswell she was like in gold cage. Here she was free. She could just leave anytime.

Leave. Run. Hide.

Yeah, she ran. Far away from Roswell, from problems. But was that a good idea? She was alone...

Anyone would say that she need someone to help her. To help her find herself.

She stood up. Fresh air – she had to go for a walk. Now.

Should she go back? She hugged herself. Walking down those dirty streets. Not noticing the strange, cold wind. She was by the court, where just few hours ago she knocked out some guy just with one move of her hand.

She looked at her hand, not bothering that someone could find this a bit strange. Dark, olive skin was unimpaired. Who could have thought that there was such strong power in those small hands. But there was something worse. She didn't know how to control it. Everything came from nowhere. From inside.

She couldn't go back. Not now. First she had to handle everything by herself.

* * *

She reached the dark street and wanted to go back, when she heard noises. Someone was fighting. It wasn't a good idea to look for death on a first day here. But she couldn't resist. .

She saw a group of men. In uniforms. They were fighting with someone, but she couldn't see this person. When she got a little bit closer, she saw a petite blonde. The same, who had saved her... and stole her money. Liz didn't even thought about reasons of this little battle. When one of soldiers attacked the blonde girl from behind, she rose her hand. Green glints didn't eve appear.

Three men fallen down. Then next two. Blonde handled the others. Liz's eyes tailed her every move. She saw it somewhere... Same moves, nimbleness, speed. Blonde vanquished the last one.She turned around, looking at Liz. Dangr was quickly vanishing from her face. She came forward Liz.
- Thanks.

Liz blinked.
- You stole my money – she said reservedly
And there was laughter. Pure, real laughter of amusement. Blonde shook Liz's hand and introduced herself:
- Hotaru.

Hehe, I'm back!

Hotaru - you're in this story and many other stories I wrote. Ups, I'm addicted. Help! You wait for Alec? I'm waiting for MUO

orphyfets - heh, glad you like it, hope you'll like next part to :)

alexceasar - yes, stronger Liz was my priority. I hated when she was so weak beside Max and how he hurt her. Now she's going to live her life!

Lizzy - glad you joined us. Our Hotaru right now is insane (frogyrock, bleh :? ). But in Slafg she's the old, good H. we know, right?

deirdre - sure I remember you! Girl, where have you been? It's my story (my first x-tremer story... now I have... ugh... 8? ) And translation - well, I'm trying not to make many mistakes

Calinia - the atmosphere... yes, it's important in this story. But in polish version I think it's even better written, better presented. Some things just get lost in translation. But I'm doing my best! :) Well, Hotaru is a typical transgenic here, so she won't give the money back, hehe. But she'll repay in other way... better way...
And where oh where is Alec? Oops, almost forgot...he's still tied to my bed
Heh, and I was wondering where did he go... Seriously, now probably Alec will appear in every part.

Ok, I passed almost all exams. I have last two in this week (chemistry and physics, jeeez...), but after that - sweet holidays! 8) Oh, and I passed my english with results of 95% (19 points of 20) so I guess it's not bad... But still - forgive me all mistakes!

V

Liz looked at the girl, like she was trying to read the fetch from her face. But there wans't even a sparkle in cobalt eyes. Contrary, those eyes were so amazing coloured that you could study them for hours. Even Isabel couldn't demonstrate such gaze. And it was dangerous – your mind was saying that someone with those eyes couldn't be vicious, but you never know the truth...

Not wanting to go back to fallaciusness, Liz quickly thought about something else.
- You've stole my money.
Again pearls of laughter filled the air. After few seconds she calmed down and still smiling, said:
- I have to live.

That reminded Liz that now she don't have money to buy food or pay the motel.

- And I'm paying for it? - she was mad, but she kept her voice calm – You know, I'm glad you won't starve thanks to my money – bitter taunt came from her mouth – But now I can't pay for MY life.

Hotaru just shrugged and clucked with boredom. She shoot a glance at Liz.
- Your parents won't let you die – she said blankly

Ang suddenly, not even controling herself, Liz snorted. She turned on her heel and startet to walk away. Parents won't let her die... They would kill her withe their own hands, if they knew where she is. Moreover, she didn't like tha fact that once again she was called a little girl, boring grind, sweet daughter. She worked for years for it, but now, when she wanted to get rid of this description it always came back like a boomerang.

She walked few meters, when blonde girl catched her. Liz didn't stop and ignored the girl.

- Maybe I'll walk you, it's dangerous neighbourhood. – she was staring at Liz
She just shrugged. They walked abreast. In silence.

Liz felt amazing calm with Hotaru. Like she knew each other for years. Insolence and contemporary charm of the girl made indescribable mix. She didn't knew that mysterious gilr looked at her the same way. But her natural instinct made her hold off, although little brunette seemed to be just like her.

They reached old, ruined motel. Even green neon wasn't working. Liz groaned, thinking about sleeping there. Probably she wouldn't even close her eyes. They've stop.

- Hmm... - Hotaru blinked
They must have turned wrong. She glanced at Liz. Little brunette looked like a girl from a good house and better section. And this street was really improper.
- So where do you live? - she asked hesitantly
Liz poineted at the motel.

Cobalt gaze instantaneously fell on her face.

She had to be kidding. Blonde girl wanted even to laugh, but Liz was too serious. She couldn't believe that there was even a possibility that this girl was living here.
- You must be joking, right? – she muttered, looking at Liz
When she shook her head, Hotaru blinked nervously.

The didn't know each other. They didn't trust each other. But Hotaru couldn't let this girl sleep right here. She shook her head.
- You can'e sleep here – she said – Come.

Liz looked at her like she was a madwoman. What was with this girl? They met first time in their lifes and she seemed to be worry about her. When blonde girl moved, Liz didn't even budge. She knew that Hotaru was trying to find her a better place to sleep. She hesitated. It was too wierd and dangerous. On the other hand, sleeping in this motel was more dangerous.

Night with a stranger in some better place or in motel in dangerous section?

Ok, she won...

* * *

They were silent again. Hotaru staretd to analyse her behaviour. She didn't know why she took this girl with herself. Ah no... she knew. It was because of what brunette had done today. Jeez, she didn't even know her name.

- Um... What's your name anyway? - she asked
- Liz – that was really short answer

So Liz also made some interesting things. Hotaru couldn't explain them. Tiny girl knocked down few strong, big soldiers, not even coming close to them. That definately wasn't normal. Well, she wasn't normal too, but she was protecting herself in fight, Liz protected herself without physical contact.

Maybe this drawback of Liz's personality raise trust? But also fear.

Hotaru knew that she scoop her force from her genetic blend, but brunette wasn't a transgenic. Where was her force coming from?

- I still wonder – she couldn't resist asking – How you beated those soldiers?
But Liz just shrugged, not wanting to answer.

She couldn't say that she's half an alien, who is running from her own life. She didn't came here to talk about her „curse” with strangers.

She was relieved when Hotaru didn't ask about it more.

They've stoped by the high building. It wasn't a five-star hotel, but it looked better than motel.

* * *

- It's here – Hotaru pointed at the door

She opened the door, letting Liz in. Anteroom looked like a hall, but there was only one, old mirror. You couldn't see other rooms from there. But she heard something. Voices.

- You will never change – some girl was saying sharply – You'll fuck everything that moves.
- I haven't fucked you – male voice answered her
- Because you know that if you come close to me, I will kill you.

Hotaru looked at Liz with amusement, winking. They entered a meager, lightsome room. First thing that grabbed Liz's attention was a motocycle in the corner. Then she looked to the other side. The room was connected with a kitchen. However it was better to say that the kitchen was separated from the room by a counter. And on that counter somebody was sitting. A guy.

Liz's heart stopped. A memory of last night on the statien crossed her mind. It was the same guy, who saved her. Now she wasn't suprised by Hotaru's skills. They had to be a family.

There was a little surprise on his face, but it turned into arrogant nonchalance. However his eyes were carefully studying her body.

Hotaru pushed Liz forward. She pointed at the door to the other room and said:
- This is Max, my roommate.
Now Liz saw a brunette in black jacket, standing by the door. She didn't seem to be nice or sociable. Glaring at Liz, she crossed her arms and just nodded her head.

Than Hotaru pointed at that guy and with distaste she introduced him.
- And this is Alec, thank God, he's not living here.
A smile appeared on his lips. Liz just blinked, feeling uncomfortable when blonde pointed at her:
- This is Liz. She'll sleep here tonight.

Max didn't even budge, but Alec seemed to be amused.
- I didn't know you were playing Caritas, H.
Girl looked at him coldly.
- Don't call me H. Anyway I owe her... she saved my life.
That last sentence alarmed him, because his smile disappeared and he didn't say a thing. Once again he looked at Liz. Like he was trying to x-ray her. But something else caught Liz's attention. He wasn't disturbed with hint of death. He was shocked that s h e had saved Hotaru.

Yeah, who could have thought that this little person could save someone's life? It seemed she can't take care of her self. But Alec didn't know her. He couldn't have known that she could take so many pain. Don't judge the book by it's cover.

Liz looked at him. Green eyes were sullen, but yet so inviting. With each second she was sinking in his eyes. And she liked it. A lot! Warm rush of blood made her flush, shiver. She couldn't resist staring at him. He had an amazing influence on her.

And he knew it...

Left corner of his mouth went up. He had to seen a sparkle in her eyes and he liked it. It was like a taste of victory. What kind of victory? Ho didn't know.

But he knew that pretty brunette was astonishing. She was slim, tiny, round in al the right places, she was perfect. Dark skin, like mocha, probably tasted bitter-sweet. Long, dark hair – he imagined them on his pillow. Those lips asking for a kiss. Oh, he couldn't wait to do that.

- Your sister was contriving without me – Liz was trying to hide her hesitation behind a smile – But it's probably familiar for you.

- She's not my sister. – Alec answered – Well not that kind that you think she is. And how do you know it's... - he smiled cynical - ... familiar?
Liz ignored his tone. She crossed her arms and tilted her head. She muttered something, closing her eyes. Yes, she knew how he would react. Alec opened his mouth, watching with hunger as words came from her beautiful mouth.
- Well... Hotaru didn't threw herself on me. – velure was entwined with cynicism – You did.

Hotaru and Max looked at Alec in shock. He threw himself on her? Well, they knew him for a long time and he could do everything to get into girls' panties, but the didn't know that.
- You know each other? - Hotaru asked shocked

- No – they both answered

Liz suspected that Alec wouldn't admit what happened at the station. But she didn't know he wouldn't recognise her. But it seemed so.
- I don't understand – Hotaru muttered, rubbing her temples
Liz smiled. Yes, that was him.
- I just remember him from the bus station. - she didn'd even look at him

He just snorted and jumped down of the counter. Innocently, almost reservedly he said:
- I don't remember you.

A lie?

If it was a lie, it was a good one. He was probably the tape of man that loves to wrap girls around his finger and don't commit. One glance of green eyes and she knew he liked to win and he wanted this round also to be his success.

And she won't play this game.

Liz turned to Hotaru and with a smile thanked for willingness.
- Thanks for helping and for your offering. But I better be going. If you need something, find me. – she smiled
She looked at Max, not even bothering with Alec.
- Nice to meet you Max.

But dark eyes wanted so bad to meet once again this skittish gaze. She expected that he wouldn't look at her, that he'd do something else. But he was staring at her all the time. Warm tingling in her fingers. Pleasant impulse shove through her body.

Hellish. A devil looking like an angel. She had to get out. Fast!

* * *

- Alec sometimes you could use your human side of your mutated personality. – Hotaru hissed
She liked Alec, even with his cocky and seductive flippancy, but sometimes he just irritated her.
- You know that I use this side very very well – he murmured, and lazy, skittish smile spread across his lips

- I don't want to hurt your feelings, but that part isn't your best.
She hoped that he would hurt his pride just a little. But Alec had a retort for everything.
- Hmm... - he came close, lowering his voice to a whisper – You moaned something else.

Oh, she hated when someone even mentioned about those few weeks of weakness. When she couldn't resist his charm. It was just... well... hormones were pulsating, and fascination added a little bit more of desire. She couldn't say it was bad. It was better than good! But after those three weeks she was happy it ended. They were like siblings.

- Enough – Max groaned with weariness and exasperation

She came closer, moving between them. She looked at Hotaru ans asked seriously:
- Is she one of us?

She shook her head. She was sure that Liz wasn't X5, becuase they didn't threw with people just using will-power.
- She's not from Manticore – Hotaru said
There was so much pain in Liz's eyes, but not that kind which had every kid from Manticore.
- But she's different. – she added, like she was talking to herself

Different.

- Different? - Max felt some wierd danger coming with this
Hotaru nodded. She knew that she could trust these two. The probably haven't hide anything from each other. przytaknęła.

- Umm... - she was looking for best answer – She had beaten five soldiers. - that fact wasn't so astounding for them, so she added – With one move of her hand. Standing few meters away.

There was a silence. Max created this picture in her mind. And she knew it wasn't normal. The could beat almost anyone, but using physical force and other abilities of their genes.

- Maybe she's an alien? - Alec scoffed

Both girls looked at him, but couldn't resist smiling.

They didn't even know how right was Alec.

* * *

Mattress subside under her body. She stared at the ceiling.

She wanted to analyse everything that happened this night, but she was too exhausted. Before she fell asleep, there was a picture of greeneyed man in her head. She moaned...

Elf3848 - Hotaru and Liz will become very close; well H. will have a really good influence on our Lizzie... wait for chapter where they go shopping together. Oh, and of course Hotaru will do a lot more for Alec's and Liz's realtionship, heh

Womanofmystery - oh, Liz is extremaly affected by Alec, but of course she won't let him know that, the two of them are going to play this wicked game I-don't-care... As for Hotaru and Liz, I already wrote to Elf that they'll become friends
I like the way Max, Hotaru and Alec acted with each other
Yeah, I'm trying to show in this story this "bond" that is formed between transgenics. And the they will do everything to save and help each other.

foxychar, orphyfets, Emma - I'm glad you like it! And thanks for the feedback. :)

Roswell Slayer - hehe, no. Liz won't dreamwalk Alec, she can't do that. But they'll meet... see yourself.

6.

He reached for his jacket. Two steps to the door. For a moment he stopped and turned. Fair hair run into creamy colour of the pillow. He had some bias towards blondes. This-what-was-her-name-he-didn't-care was a blonde, like many others before. Even Hotaru had blonde hair.

A slight smile appeared on his face. The girl was sleeping. He was leaving. It was the simple mechanism. He never stayed longer. Sometimes his „victim” wasn't sleeping, when he was leaving. So he smiled at her and lied that he will call.

A lie old as a world.

He closed the door behing him. And there was another beautiful thing for him to admire. Green motorbike. God, he loved riding it. He felt absolutely free. Not just free from rules enforced by the system, but from everything that was filing him. Zero problems, zero stres, zero unnecessary feelings.

* * *

Liz woke up with a huge headache. But that was just an effect of her hunger. She grimaced, when her stomach twisted. She hasn't eaten since twentyfour hours. Organism hated those changes. She felt acid juices in her stomach and a bitter taste in her mouth. When she was sleeping she hadn't got that problem.

Now every, even small movement caused more hunger and weakness. She dressed herself, thinking about a cup of hot, delicious coffee and some toast.

- Ugh... - she moaned
She had to find some buffet, so she could at least feed herself with fat fries. And then she probably will have to find a job.

She took her last money, which she had hidden in a bag. It supposed to be on her ticket home. But now she needed to eat something so she wouldn't die before coming back home. Worse, she had no idea where in this city she could eat something. And every hour was bringing her to the edge of madness.

She closed the door behind her, grimacing one more time. She'll faint, if she won't hurry.

* * *

He drove into some dirty and crowded street. He waited for the traffic jam to end, so he could drive away. He looked around wondering where to turn. Right or left?

When he was scanning the street with his eyes, a well known person flashed his eyes. He stared at her for a moment. And there she was.

Cold wind was tangling her dark hair, making her shiver. Her hands clenched aroung her belly, like she was trying to protect her stomach. Her skin was pale. And she was looking around with confusion, not knowing where to go.

He smiled.

His day started quite well. Maybe he didn't know her as he should, maybe he didn't care about her, and she didn't care about him. But he was smiling by just thinking about meeting her. She seemed to be so natural. Seattle was a place where no one was himself, everyone were pretending and she was so different, yet familiar.

He drove up to her, stopping just a few inches before her.
- Hey, little one – he said with amusement

She was shocked, looking at him like he was some kind of hallucination caused by hunger. And she wasn't sure what was more surprising. His presence or what he called her. She blinked hesistantly. Devilish smirk in the corners of his mouth assured her that he was real. The most sexy guy she ever saw was sitting on his motorbike and looking at her. More, he called her „little one”. Maybe her mind was working slow because of the hunger, but she still was able to react.

She clenched her arms aound herself and glanced at him.
- You know what's little? Your... - she said cynically, not wanting his presence anymore - ...brain.

She waited for him to turn around and drive away. She really wasn't in a mood to stand his flippancy. But suprisingly Alec just laughed. He was supposed to react different, but he just got off his bike and came closer to her. Green eyes instantaneously captured her gaze and she couldn't stop looking at him.

But as soon as his hand reached for her, she seered off. She wasn't afraid of him or her own reactions, but her body was learned to do that. For past weeks she was seering off everyone.

Unexpected reaction surprised Alec, and maybe even worried. He was expecting everything, but not this. If she was afraid of him... But he felt that it was something deeper. He needed to fing out what it was. He didn't care aboyt anyone, he had his own problems. But he didn't like the thought that this girl could suffer.
- What's wrong? - he asked, looking at her
She hasn't thought that his voice may be so serious and solicitous.
- Nothing. - she answered sharply, trying to turn away her gaze

She looked around. She still didn't know where to go, so she could eat something. She felt Alec's questioning gaze. Oh no, she wasn't going to tell him anything and especialy she wasn't going to ask for help.

But apparently he could read her thoughts.
- You need a ride? - his voice was once again velvety low
Liz stoped her gaze on his face. Damn, there was this smirk again! Then she looked at the motorbike behind him. She snorted.
- Thanks. But I don't have suicidal tendencies.

She had never ridden on a motorbike. She even hadn't any contact with it. Not counting Michaels' baby, to which she couldn't even come close, because Michael forbid that. You just reached your hand to touch it and Michael was furious.

Even if she could ride on a bike she wouldn't do it with a guy. Correction! She wouldn't ride on a bike with the most arousing and self-confident guy... Alec.

- Are you scared? - he whispered stright into her ear
She hasn't even noticed when he got that close. Now she was feeling warmth of his body and hot breath on her cheek. Her hands wanted so much to lay on his chest, but she was stoping them. God, why her body was reacting that way?! God, why was he so proud of it? She felt another warm whisper on her skin.
- Don't be scared. I'm not dangerous... in the morning.

She literatim felt corners of his mouth rise. And here she was praying for her stomach not to twist and her mind not to say 'yes' for his proposal. She turned around, hitting his face with her hair. She wanted to go away. She took one step, when he cought her arm.

She remembered when Max stopped her like that. But this was different. Max's grip was imperative and angry. This one was soft and in some way protective. She turned to him.

And in the same moment her stomach clenched and there was this well known sound of hunger. She blushed. She was expecting a sarcastic laugh, but Alec just smiled and shook his head. He didnt even ask for anything just pushed her towards his bike.

* * *

Smell of the coffee brought her to life once again. She was eating all toasts. They were the worst toasts she ever ate, but she didn't care. She cared that she wasn't hungry anymore.

Alec was sitting on the orher side of the table, looking at her with curiosity. Ever and again he was glancing at the motorbike standing outside. He bent over the table, leaning on his elbows. Green eyes stared at Liz's pink lips, where the food disappeared.

- You've got some apetite – he said with amusement and surprise
She looked at him and drank some of her bitter coffee. She filnched.
- Yeah – she said protractedly – It's strange to eat when you're hungry, huh?

He smiled. When she wasn't hungry it was easier to talk to her. Better. Maybe because now she was saying everything consciously.
- I didn't know that so many food can contain in such a small person. – he teased her
This time it was Liz who bent over the table. She slowly licked her lips, purring quietly.
- You don't know many things about me. – she said with a sensual voice – And you won't find out.

He couldn't take away his stare from her lips. He awoke when a waitress put on the table a coctail. A coctail which he didn't order. He just looked at the girl in pink uniform.
- It's on the house – she winked
Alec smiled, measuring her whole body with approval. Liz rolled her eyes and muttered:
- Feromones...

Green look turned once again to her. Left corner of his mouth rose. He used this pleasurable, low voice, which affected her females senses, she didn't even know that existed.
- Hmm... I know more about feromones than you.

It was supposed to be a threat or a appraisal? Liz snorted. She didn't want to talk with him about that. She wasn't used to it and she was afraid he could tell her something... new...

He liked her reaction. Deceitful smile confused her. She was sure that he knew feromones, hormones and other biological issues like his own hand. And probably just one beck of his finger threw tens of girls to his feet. She didn't know what was more tempting – power of green eyes, devilish smile, sensual voice or godlike body. And if you put all those elements together – he could tease with just his presence. Sit next to him, feel him and not be able to touch him.

She tried to look into his eyes without blushing. She licked her lips, not knowing that his gaze catched every move of her tongue.
- Be careful. I'm master of biology. – she said slowly
- Practical? - Alec asked, leaning closer to her
Was he thinking just about one thing?! Well, sometimes she also thought about those things but he was a master of it.
- No! - she almost screamed

He laughed and opened his mouth to say something else, but his phone rang. He muttered something and answered it.
- What's up H.?

Liz blinked. Her body was weak. Strange. Everything lost colour and she saw something. A flash. Body of a girl on the floor. She was convulsing. And then it disappeared, when Alec disconnected. He wanted to say something, but she was faster:
- Maxie...
