Heigl & Knight Leaving Grey's Anatomy

Grey's Anatomy stars Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight are leaving the hit U.S. hospital drama, a castmate has confirmed.The pair has played doctors Izzie Stevens and George O'Malley in the medical drama since it first aired in 2005, but have chosen to end their runs, according to co-star James Pickens Jr.

He tells Usmagazine.com, "She (Heigl) is (leaving). Wherever Katherine goes, I wish her nothing but the best."

He adds, "(Knight is) going too. He just wanted to pursue other career paths."

But there is hope Knight will return in the future to reprise his role.

A source says, "Writers are scrambling to find a believable exit for George, one that would leave the door open for him to come back someday."

Grey's Anatomy producers could not be reached to to confirm the departures as WENN went to press.

That would be great!
They would get what they want and we could get more interesting story lines
with the other actors

I wish them both success in whatever their future holds!

I read somewhere that series creator Shonda Rhimes issued a statement denying the rumors. I know she has a reputation for not giving out storylines so if they are leaving, she probaly want the storyline of how it is going to happen be a surprise.

Katherine Heigl may have started out as an alien on Roswell, but she did something very smart when the series was over. She made a series of TV movies for the Hallmark Channel that got critical acclaim and did a couple of comedies including a pre-quel to Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion. This helped land her a job on Grey’s Anatomy which opened doors for the romantic comedy films she has wanted to make. Her onscreen brother and former boyfriend Jason Behr has been making small films that keep showing up on cable, and has done some horror he was with Sarah Michelle Gellar in the Grudge. He is shopping for a new TV gig.

Regarding "Grey's"....well....maybe this way they'll get better storylines? :shrugs: You never know. If they could go back to S1 for these characters it would be much better imo. I liked them then. But not as much now. Of course I'm a season behind the rest of the world, but I digresss....
Regarding her career choices.....I'm always happy to see our Roswell crew in anything, regardless of whether I'd watch it or not genre-wise. For example, Jason was in "The Grudge". I went to see HIM even though I'm terrified of horror movies and ended up literally having a nightmare from it. Not NEARLY enough naked Jason for me to be satisfied with that choice. lol And as for those Hallmark movies of Katie's they refer to--they are very good and I enjoy them every time I see them. She was great in those. Like I said, though, I am always happy for them no matter what.
Regarding her new movie with Ashton...that will be fun to see! I hope it's not too too scary though! (see above)
