CW programmers opted against a proposed Gossip Girl spinoff set in the 1980s, introduced in the May 11 episode, that was considered as a midseason replacement. Instead, the network chose Light Years, a drama about a teen girl from a foster home (Roswell's Shiri Appleby) who rediscovers her biological parents.
so her show was picked up? but i think this poster was a bit confused about what the show is about or they changed it after the original pilot and they didint say when it would be showing but my guess is friday nights b4 or after smallville but i think it's going to be a mid-season replacement...
At midseason, the network will roll out Parental Discretion Advised, a drama about a young girl (Swingtown's Britt Robertson) who tracks down her biological parents. Kerr Smith (Dawson's Creek) and Shiri Appleby (Roswell) also star.
Not sure how a kid that looks like Emilie de Ravin's little sister could possibly be Shiri Appleby's daughter....they could at least have cast a kid that bore a passing resemblance to Shiri and the guy playing the father?
Even asking the kid to dye her hair the same colour as her parents would have made so much difference. But I don't think even that would have been enough to convince me that Shiri Appleby could be her mother. She looks 25 and the kid looks 19.
The CW also unveiled an especially promising drama for midseason titled Parental Discretion Advised.
All in all, it was a simple but strong presentation of a sturdy schedule filled with seemingly solid shows. It's a shame there wasn't a luncheon afterwards, because the younger members of the advertising industry and the consumer journalists in attendance were ready to pounce on all that young CW flesh.
Analysts Say Upfront down 20%, but Buyers More Optimistic
On the other hand, buyers are saying that the networks are offering perhaps their best programming season in decades. The CW has a few well-received new shows, including The Vampire Diaries, about a good/evil pair of vampire brothers and Parental Discretion Advised, reminiscent of WB hit The Gilmore Girls.
It's funny, Katie played an intern and then Shiri played an intern. Katie's character had a child when she was 16 and gave her up for adoption and now Shiri's playing a woman who had a child when she was 16 and gave her up for adoption.
From the CW- this is the show that will be joining Smallville on Friday nights in Winter of 2010.

Synopsis
After spending all of her 15 years bouncing from one foster family to another in Portland, Oregon, Lux has decided it's time to take control of her life and become an emancipated minor. Her journey through the legal maze leads Lux to her biological father, thirty-something Nate "Baze" Bazile, who owns a bar, lives like an aging frat-boy with two slacker roommates, and is astonished to learn that he has a teenage daughter. Lux is equally astonished when Baze reveals that her mother is Cate Cassidy, a star on the local "Morning Madness" radio show, along with her on-air partner and real-life boyfriend, Ryan Thomas. Lux has been listening to Cate's voice on the radio as long as she can remember, so she feels an instant connection with the mom she's never met. Baze takes Lux to meet Cate, who is shocked and saddened to learn that Lux has grown up in foster care, but thrilled to finally meet her beautiful daughter. When a judge decides that Lux isn't ready for emancipation and unexpectedly grants temporary joint custody to Baze and Cate, they agree to try to get past the awkwardness and make a belated attempt to give Lux the family she deserves.
